Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Back from the scan, I’m afraid I’m out girls. Good luck to everyone and their May babies 💔

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 13:29

@willisurvive2under2 what made you decide that it was worth it? I found the nuchal testing at 12 weeks quite a worrying time as it takes ages to get the results and the interim was spent madly googling everything! However my DD came back with really low results. Obviously every pregnancy is different and I'm a few years older now (34) so maybe it'll be different. I want the harmony test to tell me that everything is ok with the baby and I know it doesn't do that. I guess I'm still petrified that something is wrong/will go wrong with this one and at least doing the harmony test early will hopefully give me some answers.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 13:34

I'm so sorry @Lindyj0 it's so unfair that you are going through this. I wish you all the best for the future and when you feel ready the ladies on the TTC after pregnancy loss thread are a lifeline of support Flowers

PhoenixDown · 28/09/2017 13:35

I'm so sorry Lindy :( Take care of yourself love xx

Zoo33 · 28/09/2017 13:48

@Lindyj0 I'm so sorry to hear your news. Please look after yourself. Flowers

Kirstipops · 28/09/2017 13:54

I'm so sorry Lindy Flowers

willisurvive2under2 · 28/09/2017 14:41

@Doublechocolatetiffin My rationale was that if something was wrong I would have wanted to know as early as possible. I couldn't bring myself to tell a single soul before I'd got the Harmony results back - I was 11 weeks by then. If I'd had to wait for the all clear by the NHS, I would have been around 13 weeks at least - in my mind that made it worth it. Also I know it's not a diagnostic test but it's very close to it and in some countries they have done away with the blood tests and NT measurements altogether and now use Harmony tests instead. It's much more accurate. I appreciate the cost is quite significant though.

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 14:58

So so sorry to read this Lindy thinking of you and hope you have some support!

Elvi1 · 28/09/2017 15:01

Really feel for you Lindy, you take care of yourself.

I'm also 34 and will be 35 when give birth, all going well. I hadn't considered taking the harmony test. Are the NHS blood tests which return the risk of abnormalities taken when you go to your booking in appointment or at the 12 week scan? This is my second but I can't recall even though it was only a couple of years ago.

willisurvive2under2 · 28/09/2017 15:14

@Elvi1 In my area they take bloods for trisomies etc. when you do the dating scan. If you come back high risk, I believe they phone you within a couple of days.

Firework83 · 28/09/2017 15:36

I had my booking in appointment this morning (I'm 8+6). They took my bloods then for everything and said if any issues, they'd call, otherwise they'd see me in a few weeks at my scan @Elvi1

Kirstipops · 28/09/2017 15:37

Yes I had the tests done at the same time as my scan too.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 28/09/2017 15:52

Thank you @willisurvive2under2 that's really helpful. I just had a look at dates that I can do the harmony test. I'm 10 weeks the day before my DD's 2nd birthday (and that's also the due date of the baby I miscarried). I don't want to have a scan then just in case anything is wrong, it'd be awful to spend her birthday, which is already going to be a slightly bittersweet day, a total mess. I've realised that my 12 week scan is actually pretty early as they've gone on lmp and I know I'm about 5 days behind that (as I'd gone conception crazy and watched for every little sign of ovulation) so by the time I wait till after her birthday I'm only a week away from my scan. So I think that's decided it, no point in spending £400 to speed things up a week.

I've got my booking in on Tuesday and I'm dreading the blood tests. I hate having my blood taken these days.

Is anyone else feeling utterly exhausted? All of a sudden I am so tired it's stupid. I have tonnes of stuff to do and all I want to do is sleep!!

treehousemama · 28/09/2017 16:33

Doublechoc I'm with you on the tiredness! I can barely keep my eyes open. And yet can't seem to sleep at night...! Got some serious nausea and feel like dropping constantly. I work from home and so have been having a nap in the early afternoon to gather the strength to get through the day!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 28/09/2017 16:38

I'm so sorry to hear about losses Flowers and about spotting worries Flowers

HerSymphonyAndSong · 28/09/2017 16:42

I am struggling with tiredness too. The nausea comes and goes (it seems to alleviate mid-afternoon, then back after supper). I'm going to bed at 8pm and then awake from 2-4am, so frustrating!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 28/09/2017 16:43

Normal errands and jobs around the house just seem overwhelming, just thinking about them exhausts me

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 16:57

Exhausted here also, barely coping with the constant tiredness and sickness :-( only another 6 or 7 weeks to go! Woo hoo! Haha!

cautiousoptimist1 · 28/09/2017 17:47

So sorry lindy, please look after yourself. I hope you have someone with you.

Sorry that you're also spotting again Dorotha, do you think you'll call EPU? Hope it settles again for you soon.

The exhaustion hasn't hit me yet which I'm grateful for, I do have weird moments in the day though where the middle of my back is really painful and occasions where I feel hot and faint.

My Mum is visiting next week so I think I might tell her face to face then, I'll be 7 weeks. It sounds daft as I'm 34, have been with my DH for 16 years and we have a toddler but I'm a bit worried about people's reactions this time. My LO wasn't a happy baby and I wonder if they expect she's put me off in case the next one is the same!

Firework83 · 28/09/2017 17:55

Omg @Doublechocolatetiffin I can barely walk a flight of steps i'm bone-crushingly exhausted. Had 10 hours sleep last night, feel like I had 4. Midwife made a good point today... whilst we sleep our body doesn't have to worry about us... it looks after the baby so at the moment it doesn't rest at all. I'm out for dinner tonight with my girls... good luck to me!!!!

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 18:10

Update at this end: it's now 30 hours post internal scan and still bleeding brown dry blood (and one small brown clot). Not sure how worried I should be at this point

timeisnotaline · 28/09/2017 18:18

I don't know if brown blood is ever a problem is it?

MrsOB27 · 28/09/2017 18:22

Sorry to hear about the losses and spotting, thinking of you all! Flowers

I've really never been so tired in my life, I think I picked a good week to have off work as I'm not sure how I'd cope even if I do sit at a desk! I'll be 10 weeks next week so I'm hoping it might get better (So I have read online anyway but I suppose everyone is different)! Positive thinking!

LadyPug · 28/09/2017 18:32

Oh I hope you're right timeisnotaline

Dorotha · 28/09/2017 18:44

@LadyPug I had a bleed with my son at 12 weeks. It started red and then went on to brown for 2 more weeks. How many weeks are you? Have you heard of phantom periods?

As I was writing with message and walking along my road two guys on a scooter(?) pulled behind me (on a pavement) and tried to snatch my phone!!
