Ladies,

Welcome to thread 2 for babies due in May 2018.

Looking forward to early scans, seeing the first flutters and progressing further into the first trimester.

Hehe squashy what are we like?! Upset with no symptoms, wait till they kick in!!!

Noredwine · 23/09/2017 08:54

Thanks Kirstipops!Smile
Motherofboy - mine was transvaginal at 7.5 weeks.
I don't like the idea of flu jab at all. Don't normally get flu - are you much more susceptible when pregnant?

Poppy012 · 23/09/2017 09:24

Thanks @daniella I said no initially, but now I'm thinking I should get it done. Found this on the NHS website

Morning all,
I'm still spotting after four days (still brown though) after talking to a gp and my midwife who both told me it's common I'm still not convinced.
I've still got all my symptoms which I'm taking as a blessing that everything is fine.
I might get an early scan though just make sure all us okay.
Though who have had early scans, how did you go about getting one?

Poppy012 · 23/09/2017 09:35

Hi @daisy how many weeks are you?
I had brown spotting from week 6 right up until 2 days ago so 16 days in total! I know how worrying it is I got signed off work because of the stress of it all. I got told the same it's very common at that stage to get some spotting. I went to the doctors who sent me for a scan at the epau at 6 weeks where we saw the heartbeat which was a massive relief and as the spotting was ongoing I had another scan yesterday at 8 weeks 3 days and all is fine baby is measuring perfect and no signs of bleeding on the scan. I know it's hard but please try not to worry, I was told by the epau that I need to worry when the bleeding is red or filling pads. If it continues I would go back to the Gp and hopefully they can offer you a scan.

DaisyMay25 · 23/09/2017 09:39

Hi @poppy I'm 6 weeks tomorrow but my god you've just made me feel a million times better! Thank you!
Atm I'm just crying all the time thinking I'll miscarry, it's just a horrible feeling
I'm going to leave it until Monday then I'll go to GP and see about an early scan.
Thank you for your advice though

MotherOfBoy · 23/09/2017 09:39

nored yes you are as immunity is reduced in pregnancy.

I will be getting flu jab as i have asthma too. It takes 2 minutes and even if it gives you 40% protection I reckon it's better than no protection.

Poppy012 · 23/09/2017 09:45

@daisy no problem, that's exactly how I was every time I would go to the toilet and see it I would cry fearing the worst it really really stressed me out big time, could not focus on anything! Yes go back Monday and hopefully they can get a scan booked for you!

SquashyMummy · 23/09/2017 10:05

Fulltimeparent i know someone who got pregnant on the coil. She'd had it put in after a c-section and it had embedded in tissue. Doctors were convinced it had dropped out but she knew it hadn't and they found it eventually. Baby was healthy and she had an op to remove the coil a year after baby was born.

PhoenixDown · 23/09/2017 11:28

I just had my flu jab. You are immunocompromised in pregnancy and so a high risk group - if you got flu it could be very serious.

MotherOfBoy · 23/09/2017 11:57

There is a tiny little squidge with a strong heartbeat! 😍😁

Whatamuddleduck · 23/09/2017 11:59

Following this weeks morning sickness I'm now blessed with constipation- it's glamourous isn't it! Having had the joy of explaining the issue in a busy boots im now the proud owner of some lactulose. Anyone else got the same issue? Any tips on preventing it? I have an aversion to most fruit and veg at the moment (I normally live off it) so this weeks shopping has fruit to make compot to hide in porridge and lots of veg to hide in currys and sauces. Seems weird to be hiding fruit and veg from myself but hopefully it will work- just the thought of eating a chunk of veg makes me feel ill!

LadyPug · 23/09/2017 12:04

Yay Motherofboy great news!

SquashyMummy · 23/09/2017 12:14

Yay how exciting mother!

timeisnotaline · 23/09/2017 12:50

Oh lovely motherofboy :) you're immune system is lower in pregnancy so you are more likely to catch it, and also the consequences when you are pregnant could be so much worse, so I would. It's been such a bad season in Australia - 100,000 cases and a few healthy people have died- an 8 yr old girl and a 30 yr old man. The northern hemisphere typically gets the same strain once our winter comes around.

treehousemama · 23/09/2017 13:24

I'm terrified today that I've got a blighted ovum - had a scan yesterday showing empty gestational sac and had bloods taken for hcg. Going back for more bloods tomorrow but have read this morning that hcg levels can/will read high/increasing even with a blighted ovum. Top one. Had thought the blood test would be conclusive so devastated to read that as I'd hoped for a definitive yes or no tomorrow. If they're increasing then I guess I'll have to wait a few weeks for another scan to see if anything develops? Feeling very grumpy and sorry for myself and need to pull myself together!!!

MrsF10917 · 23/09/2017 15:09

**Mother of boy that's great news, so excited for mine next week!
**Whatamuddleduck I feel your pain with the constipation, the pharmacy also gave me lactulose but has not been effective and this has now been going on for over a week so off to see the doctors shortly. I have tried upping fruit and veg intake, extra fibre and hot water lemon drinks- no joy! Very uncomfortable!

McTufty · 23/09/2017 15:15

Sorry to hear you're worried @treehousemama. I don't know anything about blighted ovum but I hope it all works out for you Flowers

MooChops89 · 23/09/2017 15:23

muddleduck I'm having a veg aversion too! It's all I wanted to eat for the first couple of weeks and now the thought of it makes me heave. I feel like I'm piling on weight (although I'm not, thankfully) and all I want to eat is bread!

mrscordy · 23/09/2017 16:14

Anyone else had any weird cravings yet? I just had a caesar salad as an afternoon snack because I really fancied breadsticks but all we had were croutons! Adding some salad made the parmesan, croutons and caesar dressing seem justfied...

Re: flu jab, definitely going to go for it - you should be offered it in pregnancy

Zoo33 · 23/09/2017 17:37

Hi all. Found out today I'm 4 weeks pregnant. Totally delighted but don't know what to do with myself now. Doesn't feel real. I bought a pack of 2 Clearblue tests - finding it really hard not to use the other one to check it wasn't a mistake... No symptoms as yet (other than sleeping badly for the last week or so, finding alcohol disgusting last night and having a nasty cold). So looking forward to have people to share this with - DP is super excited but I think he'll tire of my nervous twittering soon.

Whatamuddleduck · 23/09/2017 17:38

Oh mrs f I feel your pain! Hopefully this is a short term symptom!
Mmmm Caesar salad! That with nice cold roast chicken. Except I wouldn't want to eat the lettuce. All I want is cheese, KFC and butter.

Kirstipops · 23/09/2017 18:25

Will have a proper catch up later with the thread but j8st wanted to add for the "bagged up" ladies - if you up your intake of good fats like coconut milk & avocado etc, it will help the poo...umm...slide out a bit easier Blush

scoutcat · 23/09/2017 18:37

I’m 5 weeks today and getting more excited every day!

Told my parents last night and they were over the moon!

Aggy106 · 23/09/2017 19:09

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread for a couple of weeks but was too scared to join as I've already had two miscarriages and I didn't want to get my hopes up. However, we had the first early scan today and there's a heartbeat! So relieved and I thought it's about time I join you guys. We're keeping everything crossed that this one works out. Hope you're all having a good weekend so far.
