1B3 - I think we wanted you to stay here - cos' we all love your baby talk even if we are at the same time! I think the idea was that we would all go over the post-natal thread afterwards.

Having said that - if you lucky people want to go for it we'll all lurk and thread-crash anyway!

KatyTheProcrastinator · 05/04/2007 15:16

Ooh GirtWaspbElly hasn't been on since this time yesterday!! Who's her buddy?

muminamassivetummy · 05/04/2007 15:17

Ditto 1b3 - I love to hear all the baby talk - would be sad if we didn't all stay together

KatyTheProcrastinator · 05/04/2007 15:18

OK, genuinely going to go and do something constructive - can't promise it will be bag packing mind

oh yeah - congrats cd re. strep result. I had my test a couple of weeks ago but apparently they just file your results and you get them when you go in to give birth. Guess it´s better than having lots of time to worry about it now but to be honest it would be nice to know.

How long can you guys wait after your waters have broken before they´ll induce you (presuming nothing happens naturally of course)? Here we are told we have to go in as soon as our waters break and we can´t go home again til the baby is born so I am not sure how long they´ll let me go before they start pressuring to move things along.

KatyTheProcrastinator · 05/04/2007 15:38

maveta, we were told to call when our waters break and then they'll decide whether we need to come in or not. I assume from that it's only if your waters are the wrong colour (or if you're panicking) that you'll have to go in immediately.

1becomes3 · 05/04/2007 15:42

I didn't mean it as splitting the group up, It just takes so long to try and catch up and find posts, I thought that for us that have no time and need some quick easy to find answers about baby problems and questions it would be a good place to go, just for baby stuff with out all the general chat, cause to be honest I feel like I have no idea what is going on round here you lot have been so busy while i have been away.
Of course everyone is welcome, the more answers and help for any problems that any of us are having the better.

?????????????????????????????????????????

KatyTheProcrastinator · 05/04/2007 15:43

I think it's a good idea - those of us with lots of time can lurk on both and we can make sure any announcements are posted on the other thread as well.

maveta · 05/04/2007 15:45

1b3 - I hadn´t thought of it that way but you are completely right. On the PN thread it´s probably best that there´s not loads of random chit chat to filter through while we´re all in the crazy busy stages.. go for it, we´ll still keep an eye on you all!

1becomes3 · 05/04/2007 15:59

Everyone who has time should check it out as you never know something on there could help you out when your time comes, like "how do I get rid of my really painful constipation without prunes!"
That will be 1st post I think.

maveta · 05/04/2007 16:04

1b3 - LOL! Personally I find my bacon and lentil soup always keeps me regular so it will be my first port of call in that particular emergency! Or anything with chickpeas - a ton of hoummous! That also keeps everything moving along! Good luck and let us know...

LesleyR · 05/04/2007 16:10

Hooray another baby! Congratulations Yvie! V.

Very quiet (and clean) at home now my mum has gone. Will be very cross if DH messes things up over the long weekend.

I've went out for nice lunch and wander round the shops in the sunshine before dropping my mum at Leeds station. Do feel like something is wrong with the cosmic balance of the universe. I couldn't be bothered with shopping!

Lovely to hear about all new mummies and how they're doing. We ante-natal types should be able to follow 2 threads if it makes it easier. It can sometimes be a bit overwhelming trying to catch up. Thank heavens for Ellie's emails.

nuttygirl · 05/04/2007 16:15

Well I've sorted out my hospital bag for the FINAL time...the only things I need to add to it are toothpast and toothbrush. I suggested to DH that he might want a change of clothes (in case what he wears gets messy/wet - thinking of a water birth)...was a bit to find that he'd also packed 2 pairs of undies & socks....perhaps he's worried he'll have an accident!!!!

Also sorted out changing stuff for upstairs and downstairs and changing bag. Have folded some nappies and filled my nappy stacker...can you tell I'm bored .

1b3 - I think that's a great idea re PN thread.

nuttygirl · 05/04/2007 16:18

Lesley, you must be a shopaholic like me!!! My mum keeps saying she thinks this baby will be born in a shop . I told her I hoped it chose an expensive shop that might give me freebies!!! Then thought maybe the baby knows there aren't any shops open on Easter Sunday and is gonna pop out then so I've got something to do!

GirtWaspbElly · 05/04/2007 16:20

Hiya!
Still here - still just the one of me but congrats to YvieE and AngeG
My dad's here for Easter, and DH is being lovely about it - joking that it wasn't unitl my parents came to stay the night that the last baby put an appearance in!
I've increased 2 stone, but no stretchmarks (yet!) but mum didn't get any either - it's all down to genes dahlings I'm afraid!
Had contractions every 5 mins for about an hour last night - but they then stopped.

"whenever you're ready - we'd quite like to meet you now!"

Time yet.

LesleyR · 05/04/2007 16:25

Nutty - my friend works in John Lewis in Newcastle, if you go into labour in the shop she reckons they give you a pushchair! Don't suppose it happens that often.

PMSL at Dh spare undies! I want a water birth too. My Dh was asking if he needed to brink his swimming shorts Bless, he obviously hasn't realised I will be a snarling beast during labour.

nuttygirl · 05/04/2007 16:28

Lesley - did you go to the water birth evening at LGI, I forgot until yesterday and by that time it was a bit late to sort it out.

I must've got those genes from my dad's side, mum & sis never got stretchmarks but i've got them. Mind you me & sis were v small so no surprise mum didn't get any (apparently you couldn't tell she was pregnant!)

KatyTheProcrastinator · 05/04/2007 16:29

Can I be bothered to go up to Newcastle on my due date on the off chance?

1becomes3 · 05/04/2007 16:30

LesleyR · 05/04/2007 16:47

repeatedYes Nutty, I went twice! Once with my friend as my DH has a hospital phobia (serious, vomiting, fainting etc) and last month with DH as he has been seeing a counsellor and his phobia is much improved. He really enjoyed it!

They make it sound like a v positive experience and apparently it speeds things up once you're in established labour. They said to let delivery suite know as soon as you ring in and they'll try and get things ready. You have to be:
37-42 weeks
not had labour induced
not had any bleeding/complications throughout pregnancy
weigh less than 90kg (in case they need to pull you out)
Be at least 5 cm dilated before they leyt you get in.

They only have 2 birthing baths but the MW at talk said in 10 yrs she'd only had to tell about 10 women that they couldn't use the pools because someone else was in there.
