Have you tried lactulose NorthernBelly? It has really helped me in previous pregnancies and after birth. It is safe in pregnancy as well.

Thanks Fuzzy I'll ask the dr for some this aft Smile

Loosesnuggles · 11/09/2017 12:20

@northernbelly I had hypertension in my last pregnancy so at higher risk this time too. I ended up on meds for it last time, but avoided being induced somehow. My bp has so far been fine this time (13 weeks on weds) but when I got measured before my scan last week it took 3 goes to get it to a decent reading! I think white coat syndrome may be to blame - but specifically the machine last week was the same spot as last pregnancy! I always seem to read lower with manual readings.

hometownunicorn · 11/09/2017 12:23

kittykat I'd read spots are associated with girls 'stealing your beauty'. I don't want to know either so I guess we'll have to wait and see

northernbelly I've found dried fruit really helps with the constipation so that might worth a try. Especially figs and apricots. Also trying to keep moving seems to have helped although that might just be coincidence. It's one of my least favourite pregnancy symptoms so far!

Pinkandwhite · 11/09/2017 16:32

Hi ladies, I'm just popping over from the February ante-natal group to see if anyone would like to join our secret Facebook group? Please message me if you are interested.

FuzzyOwl · 11/09/2017 17:04

I doubt I will give birth early enough for the February group @Pinkandwhite although DD2 popped out at 37 weeks so anything is possible.

Hi

I have been stalking you all for a while am 12+6, due 17th March if I make it that far. DD who will be 10 (!) in Feb was 6 weeks early so I might join the Feb group too.

Had my scan on Fri which was nerve wracking as I am 42 (!) low NT measurement and nasal bone is present now waiting nervously for a phone call or letter about my bloods.

Feeling less sick than I have been, still quite tired and eating so so much. I was on the chubby side at the start of this unexpected pregnancy and slightly worried I am going to end up the size of a house!

NorthernBelly · 12/09/2017 08:44

@Loosesnuggles, I was the same yesterday - they took my BP with the machine and it was higher than ever, then the dr did it again manually and it was much lower. Phew! She was lovely about it and said that she never trusted the machines.

@hometownunicorn since yesterday I have now eaten apricots, prunes and drank a pint of orange juice. Hoping it will all help to keep things moving so I can avoid taking the stuff the dr gave me. She didn't give me lactulose in the end, she said she'd give me something better/stronger and told me to take 8 sachets on the first day!! Think I'd be on the loo all day if I did that - I'll keep it in reserve for emergency situations!

Fizzie100 · 12/09/2017 11:05

Hi there!
I posted a couple of times a few months ago but I'd really like to join in now we've had the 12 week scan. All went well and I'm due march 14th! Low risk for downs , Edwards etc came through so v relieved. I have a 20 month old who keeps me very busy. It there a Facebook group and is it secret? How many people are on here now? Hope everyone is doing well! C

Fizzie100 · 12/09/2017 11:08

I'm so sorry to hear that some ladies have had some sad news. I lost a baby at 7 weeks and understand the feeling of loss and anger. Please be kind to yourselves x

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 12/09/2017 11:57

Welcome Fizzie100! There is a secret Facebook group, just pm FuzzyOwl for the link. Smile

Fizzie100 · 12/09/2017 13:30

How do I PM?

xxHappyHippyxx · 12/09/2017 13:32

Hi everyone! Checking into new thread!!

I've read through the end of the last one and caught up here I think.. sorry for your losses @Flatwhite31 and @BlueeSpottyTiger 😭 hope you're both doing OK.

Welcome to everyone new since I last posted lol there are so many of us now! Lovely to see scan pics popping up too! 🤗

We had 15 week midwife checkup last week, heard the heartbeat for the first time 💕 my OH has since ordered one of the machines so we can listen at home!! Only £20 on eBay, if it actually works I'll post a link to it cos I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to be able to listen constantly to what's going on!? I barely feel pregnant so I need reassuring... 😳 although actually the people who know have started commenting that I'm showing now, I think I am beginning to get a mini bump but not convinced it's not just the constant eating!! My bathroom scales need new batteries though so they've started telling me I've lost half a stone this week 😅 (I'm not rushing to change them...)

lokelani · 12/09/2017 13:50

Hi @xxHappyHippyxx great news about your appointment.

Just a quick warning about home Dopplers. There is a lot of advice about not relying on them. You can pick up your own heartbeat instead of babies, just as if you don't pick up a heartbeat it doesn't mean something is wrong. Just thought I'd share this link with you, see the section on dopplers.

xxHappyHippyxx · 12/09/2017 14:26

Thanks @lokelani I am sceptical about it haha sure it'll keep us entertained for a while though! Can't feel any movement anyway yet, so it's not to replace that or anything.. can't wait until I can actually feel something!!

whyhastherumgone · 12/09/2017 15:39

Hello all, just catching up. Got our screening results today - all come back as low risk, although the number for Downs wasn't that reassuring - we got 1 out of 233 which I thought would have been classed as high? I was expecting low risk to be 1 out of thousands....does anyone else mind sharing theirs for comparison?

I swear I just like to worry myself. Was 12 weeks yesterday - I am slowly starting to believe this might actually happen...

Excited0803 · 12/09/2017 16:45

@whyhastherumgone - mine would have have been 1:129 for Downs, but the hospital sent it for extra blood screening and it came back 1:50000 instead.

whyhastherumgone · 12/09/2017 16:59

ah @excited0803 quite a margin of error/ambiguity there. Perhaps I should suck it up and not worry then, I was debating whether to do Harmony as well but it's so expensive.... thank you for sharing your number :)

Is anyone else still feeling ridiculously tired? I have started sleeping again (hooray!) so thought maybe it was easing off, but I still feel exhausted by about 4pm!

Excited0803 · 12/09/2017 17:05

Yeah, I'm almost constantly exhausted, sleeping at least 15 hours per day in several patches. It isn't fitting well with work. One more week until my consultant appointment (thyroid), hoping they'll give me more thyroxine to fix this.

whyhastherumgone · 12/09/2017 17:11

Sorry to hear you're suffering too - I've never experienced tiredness like it . Good luck with the consultant appointment :) How far along are you now? x

Excited0803 · 12/09/2017 17:15

I'm 14+5, how about you?

Bumpkin21 · 12/09/2017 17:24

Hi guys!
I'm way behind as I didn't spot the new thread! :) Got my 12 wk scan tomorrow and I'm excited to see my bubba, but anxious to see if everything is ok!
Still feeling tired, and a bit sick, but it is gradually getting better, so hoping it disappears entirely at some point!
Hope everyone else is doing ok.
Xx

Excited0803 · 12/09/2017 17:30

Sorry @whyhastherumgone, just saw you already said you're 12+1 (see how useless I am for work!). You might be on the verge (well, next few weeks) of improving at second trimester, unless there's any other medical issues causing you to be especially tired? Hope you feel more awake soon!

Good luck for tomorrow @Bumpkin!

suntraveller · 12/09/2017 17:34

@whyhastherumgone my Downs screening ratio was 1:8500, I think if you only get a letter and not a phone call then they don't need to do any more checks.
Has anyone experienced pain in hips? I don't have it every day, I've found it's been on particularly busy/active days and it's only on the left side and when I'm walking it's like a sudden shooting pain/ache. Has anyone had similar?

FuzzyOwl · 12/09/2017 17:49

High risk where I am is 1 in 150 or below whyhastherumgone. Is your result the combined test (adjusted) risk or just your background one? My background risk was 1 in 159 but a large part of that is my age. My adjusted risk odds are much greater.
