I could have written your post @Maybebaby2 . Have hardly been sleeping and waking up 6 or 7 times a night. Restless legs were horrendous last night and had a cry about how rubbish bedtime/sleeping is. I also felt like babies dropped right down into pelvis and everything feels uncomfortable and swollen down there. FlowersFlowerssorry you are having rubbish time of it too.

Maybebaby2 · 23/10/2017 15:04

Restless legs are horrid aren't they @Waitingonasmile. I had them before I was pregnant but not to this extent, and every time I try to stretch out to ease off the restlessness my legs start to cramp!
I'm off work this week so hopefully can catch up on some rest and start to feel human again! Hoping it will ease off the Braxton hicks too as I won't be moving about as much as I do at work. I definitely find the more active I am the worse they are.
As for the wriggling and kicking I love it that she's so active in one way but honestly it really hurts at times. Yesterday I said owch out loud a good few times because of it. She must be so strong to be kicking that hard so I guess it's a good thing!

klaw87 · 23/10/2017 16:39

Lack of sleep and near constant braxton hicks here too @Maybebaby2 Iim getting really fed up with it and feeling pants as well so I feel your pain. Like you I'm off this week so hoping it eases and have a massage booked tomorrow that I got for my birthday so really looking forward to that, can't come soon enough!

Have been looking after my friends 12 week old baby today, so has been a bit of a test run for me - This morning was a bit 😬😬 but this afternoon I think we've got a little thing going 👍🏻 not easy this baby lark 😅

klaw87 · 23/10/2017 16:41

Also has anyone else had extra iron tablets prescribed? They've told me I have mild anaemia after bloods last week so am picking up my prescription tonight but worried it's going to make me even more constipated 😬 the joys of this eh

ndo4000 · 23/10/2017 18:03

@klaw87 you might want to try Spatone first? It’s a sachet of water with iron in. You drink it with orange juice (helps to absorb iron). No horrible side effect.....

klaw87 · 23/10/2017 18:32

Will have a look at that thank you @ndo4000

ScotsLamb · 23/10/2017 19:52

@klaw87 I've been taking 3 iron tablets and 2 spatone sachets per day and have had no constipation. I did have constipation at 19 weeks without iron tablets.
I have been drinking a lot of orange juice though which might be helping...

klaw87 · 23/10/2017 20:33

Fab - spatone, tablets and orange juice 👍🏻 thanks ladies

Did you find it actually helped with any tiredness @Scots? I'm not sure whether to expect to feel any better in a few days or if it's just usual pregnancy tiredness

ScotsLamb · 23/10/2017 20:59

I was so reluctant to take it due to the side effects so I was only planning on taking spatone but then I felt guilty and decided to take all the iron tablets as well as extra spatone. I'm amazed at how much better I feel. I'm tired today as I had awful nightmares last night but generally I've felt really good since taking them.
I've also been told I'm low on b12 and folic acid so taking them as well.
I would start off slowly on the iron tablets and work your way up to the dose your doctor has prescribed. I've to take ferrous fumerate which seems to have less side effects.
My ferritin was at 12 and it's meant to be 14-186. I wasn't anaemic but dr was worried I would become.
Don't take the iron within an hour of milk, Gaviscon, caffeine or grains. These lower the absorption rate of the iron so more comes out...
enjoy the black poo!

klaw87 · 23/10/2017 21:08

That's great to know - thank you! I've been prescribed ferrous fumerate to take twice a day so will start with that and lots of orange juice - good tip about the milk too as I normally have cereal for brekkie so will have something else - glad to hear it made you feel better!
Absolutely no idea what my levels were, just a post it note on the prescription I picked up saying mild anaemia - no one has actually called me which is a bit annoying but I suppose it's pretty self explanatory - and I'm coming to expect that from the care I've received so far lol

ScotsLamb · 23/10/2017 21:32

I phoned up to ask my levels as I was so reluctant to take them. The dr printed out the blood results for me. I'm just nosey though!
I eat a lot of red meat and chicken but I tend to have it with milk or Coke so I think I've not been absorbing it well enough. Now I've read up some more I'm trying to avoid red meat with grain and only having water/squash with it. I'll end up in iron overload lol
Good luck!

Maybebaby2 · 24/10/2017 09:22

@klaw87 enjoy your massage today, sounds like just the thing to pick you up after sleepless nights and Braxton hicks and low iron! Well done on the babysitting, if anyone handed me a 12 week old to look after at this point I'd probably cry and run away!

Waitingonasmile · 24/10/2017 09:27

Is anyone else still suffering from morning sickness?? I'm so fed up with it!

Gemxo · 24/10/2017 09:40

Yep me @Waitingonasmile ! It's not as bad as it was at the beginning but still rears its head every few days, off work sick today with it.

Does anyone know at how many weeks work can make you take your maternity pay if your sick?

Gemxo · 24/10/2017 09:41

Leave not pay*

Waitingonasmile · 24/10/2017 09:50

Mine isn't everyday either just seems totally random. Sad

I'm not sure if every job is the same gemxo but with mine it's from 36 weeks.

ChocoMunchi · 24/10/2017 09:57

@Gemxo It’s the last 4 weeks as standard

katmarie · 24/10/2017 10:44

I asked my midwife about restless legs as they have been driving me nuts, she suggested a small salty snack, like a handful of crisps, about half an hour before bedtime. It does seem to help, although I’m definitely getting the insomnia too.

klc75 · 24/10/2017 11:09

Me too @Waitingonasmile so fed up with the feeling sick and being sick. Feel sick the whole time. 🤢🤢 had a cry the other day about it but think am just resigned to that is it now for the rest of the time xx

klaw87 · 24/10/2017 12:07

Thanks @Maybebaby2 it was bliss and pretty sure I fell asleep during the second half! It really was just what I needed!

When my friend asked me if I could look after her baby my first thought was good god no he's far too young 😂 then I thought actually I could probably do with the practice haha! It wasn't too bad but is difficult when you don't know the babies habits, felt a bit helpless when he was crying sometimes - which I'm sure I will feel with my own but at least he'll be mine lol

Really feel for all of you suffering with sickness still, it must be horrible 😔 we're almost there ladies - we're on the home stretch now x

ziggzagg · 24/10/2017 18:19

Anyone else's baby really hurt when they kick? Had a growth scan today and where he has been "kicking" he is actually punching!! Feels like Mohammed Ali in there!!

rememberpurpleronnie · 24/10/2017 20:19

@ziggzagg ouch yes me. Currently being beat up from the inside.
Has anyone else been told their baby is currently breach? I was told last week at 29weeks but apparently still plenty of time for her to turn. I’m having another scan at 32 weeks so hope she will have flipped!

Gemxo · 24/10/2017 20:36

Can anyone recommend a pram brand? We originally found a great bundle from silver cross, you got everything from pram to car seat & changing bag all for £695! We have gone to buy it online to see the bundle offer is no longer on!! Sad & wont be back on now until January which is too late as can't risk not having car seat Incase of early labour!!

we ideally only wanted to spend £700 max on a pram set and was hoping it would include the car seat/changing bag/stroller style, so can anyone recommend any they have seen or know of any good brands?

SJ1989 · 24/10/2017 20:39

@rememberpurpleronnie I was told last a week an a half ago that baby was transverse but today at midwife she is head down but she could still do a few flips lol

klaw87 · 24/10/2017 21:07

@rememberpurpleronnie yep 🙋🏼 he's been breech at my last two appointments, 29 weeks here too. From what I've read they can flip round lots at this stage and they don't start to worry until 36 weeks - st which point baby still has time to turn but they will check more regularly etc. I got worried too and googled lots!!

@Gemxo I was toying between silver cross and icandy for a while and eventually went with the icandy, I found them both light, easy to put up and down and liked the look of both. icandy was cheaper although doesn't come with a car seat - it does come with car seat adaptors though and is compatible with a few different types so may cost much the same to get a separate car seat. I would just go and test them all out in a store and see which one works for you and has the same qualities you like in the silver cross :)
