Is anyone else itching really badly? I scratched both legs until they were bleeding during the night. Today it's my hands and arms.

reetgood · 18/09/2017 14:38

Scratching until bleeding sounds like more than mild itching. I think I'd give your community midwife a call as I understand it may be something they want to monitor.

hodgeheg92 · 18/09/2017 16:41

@waitingonasmile I'd agree with reetgood and suggest you give your midwife a call. I'm sure my midwife mentioned that severe itching was one of the things she wanted me to tell her about asap. I think it could be something liver related but I could be wrong.

I'm with everyone else on the battle between diy and saving money! We moved a year ago (doubling our mortgage) and so far have probably spent close to 15k doing it up so far. We didn't buy it with the intention of doing major diy but that's the nature of houses and a perfectionist husband. Our entrance hall currently has half a floor and our dining room is half bare brick walls. And don't get me started on the nursery - we just keep that door closed! (To save us falling through the ceiling as there's no floor in there either)

Disinterested · 18/09/2017 16:45

@waitingonasmile I had severe itching like that and did tell my midwife and had to have some blood tests as it is taken very seriously. Luckily all was ok and it disappeared as soon as it came but I really would contact your midwife if I were you. My legs are probably scarred from where I was scratching until I bled, though!xxx

Waitingonasmile · 18/09/2017 17:00

Thank everyone. Luckily I have an appointment with midwife tomorrow morning . I'll mention it then and see what she says!

millsbynight · 18/09/2017 18:32

Took this this morning before work, 25+1 today!

@Serendipper did you manage to get your boiler fixed? We're getting someone out tomorrow morning at 8... can't wait to have a hot shower again! And DS is at his dads while we have no hot water and I must admit... kind of enjoying having a child free school night 🙊

klaw87 · 18/09/2017 18:57

Beautiful bum @millsbynight ! I feel ginourmous compared to you 😩 I'm back at work (school) after 6 weeks so literally all I hear every day is 'oh look at that bump, aren't you getting big' as they've all not seen me for 6 weeks - it's wearing thin I tell you!

Good luck to all those with the house projects - I really don't envy you but it will be so worth it in the the end, you'll all get there!

klaw87 · 18/09/2017 18:58

Oh my god - BUMP not BUM!!! 😂😂😂 that'll teach me not to read before I post! Great bum too though @mills lol!

millsbynight · 18/09/2017 19:04

@klaw87 😂😂😂 you made me laugh so hard!
I got the opposite when I got back to work (I work at a university so was able to take time off over summer hols) and my colleagues were like "you sure you're pregnant?!"

@Waitingonasmile absolutely mention the itching thing. I had also read severe itching could be a sign of a liver problem which isn't great in pregnancy.

klaw87 · 18/09/2017 19:14

Haha I'm still chuckling away to myself! What a bloody plonker!

The constant comments either way must be annoying - it never ends does it lol! But you definitely look pregnant and have a lovely bumP! Lol x

millsbynight · 18/09/2017 19:22

You also have a lovely bump 😁

OP posts:
klaw87 · 18/09/2017 19:32

Haha why thank you 😘

ziggzagg · 18/09/2017 20:24

I'm feeling huge!! And I'm lying down here!! 25 weeks today!!

Iamchanging · 18/09/2017 22:44

So my dad just called me up and said he was "ringing to let me know that he has been thinking about it and 100% supports me if I have a termination." I was actually speechless, this is a much wanted baby that I went through fertility treatment for, and I am trying my best to be upbeat and positive after the news at my scan. Sorry to put a downer on the thread but it's just completely floored me when I am already at my most vulnerable 😢

Serendipper · 18/09/2017 22:52

Oh @Iamchanging that's terrible, I'm sure it was trying to come from a helpful place but is very obviously not helpful at all! What you need is positivity not permission to throw the towel in. Sometimes people just don't think! Lots of FlowersCake and anything else your way that you might need!

reetgood · 18/09/2017 22:56

Oh boy @iamchanging that sounds like one of those trying to be supportive but completely and utterly missing the mark comments. Do you have a partner? Or supportive close friends? Hate to think of you having to process this on your own. And you really need more information right now, not that as the first suggestion.

Disinterested · 18/09/2017 22:56

@iamchanging that's certainly not what you need to hear right now and I'm sorry he has made you feel even worse than you already were. Im sure he meant well in his heart, but the fact he would support you whatever is surely unspoken anyway!

I am crossing everything for you and your lovely baby and hope this week brings more promising news for you. I am so so sorry you are going through this uncertainty.

Disinterested · 18/09/2017 22:57

And please don't ever apologise. This is surely what we are all here for, support. Xxx

Iamchanging · 18/09/2017 23:06

Thanks everyone, just really shook me and to be honest I'm not doing well to start with. Yes DH and friends are being absolutely amazing and supportive, just my idiot father who isn't. My mum died of brain cancer 5 years ago, it always seems to be stuff wrong with brains in my family 😞
Anyway on a lighter note some lovely bumps on here today, hopefully things will look up for me soon and I'll be back on here with a bump pic of my little girl.

Sybarite85 · 19/09/2017 07:59

This is 22+2 bump just squeezing through a kissing gate on Sunday on a walk! Might be the last time we can do that route for a little while!!

Maybebaby2 · 19/09/2017 09:08

Iamchanging please don't apologise, this is what we are here for. Your Dads comment really was a woefully insensitive thing to say to you. I'm sure he was not meaning it to come across the way it did but even so he should have realised it would be distressing for you to hear him say something like that. I'm glad you've got a supportive DH and friends who are there for you and you. And I would, in the most gentle way possible, avoid conversation with your Dad on this subject for the time being. Just to protect yourself from any more hurtful comments that will knock you when you need to feel strong. Thinking of you and have everything crossed that you are feeling much more positive after your appointment this week xx

millsbynight · 19/09/2017 09:39

Gorgeous little neat bump @Sybarite85

@Iamchanging sorry to hear you're having a tough time. You dad's comments were insensitive, but I think (hope!) they were coming from a good place.

Here's a story to cheer you up...

So you know how I was saying my boiler broke over the weekend? We finally got a guy out this morning to have a look at it... We live in a grand old rickety house and the boiler lives in an outbuilding in the garden. The plumber has a look at the boiler, flicks a switch on the pressure valve and says "fixed!". Apparently when DH was fannying around with the lawnmower at the weekend in the outbuilding he switched the pressure valve off which caused the boiler to shut down. So because of DH being a careless buffoon we've been suffering with no hot water for 3 days!!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry! 😂😂😭

OP posts:
Sybarite85 · 19/09/2017 09:51

@Iamchanging sorry didn't spot your post before, preggo brain easily distracted by pictures! I'm sure he thought he was trying to be helpful and supportive to you and just completely misjudged it. Don't think it means he won't support you with baby and whatever they may need. Know this must be a v worrying time for you and hope you are okay, don't forget to spoil yourself a bit too - you especially deserve it xx

SJ1989 · 19/09/2017 10:09

@iamchanging I'm sure your dad meant to be supportive and just didn't think before he spoke! Hoping your appointment comes quickly and puts your mind at ease that baby will be happy and healthy!

Just had my 25 week midwife appointment and been told from now on I need to monitor movements, can't remember who was asking when we need to start monitoring.

Asked when they start planning the birth plan and she said about 36 weeks which seems late, she did say I could print one off the mud website though and start it myself as I'm high risk for preterm so think I may do that just to put my mind at rest that there's atleast the start of a plan if I so show signs of going early!

Emzwell · 19/09/2017 10:21

Anyone else with a low lying placenta, I had another scan last week at 22 weeks and it had already moved up, which I didn't think it would in 2 weeks, so u were all right who said they weren't worrying about there's, it moves up pretty fast! xx
