I mentioned itching to midwife and she took blood and sent it away. She said it could just be absolutely nothing to worry about but would check anyway.

klaw87 · 19/09/2017 12:53

@Iamchanging sorry to hear your dad was so insensitive, and glad you have supportive dh and friends (and us!) to rely on instead, hoping you get more info soon so that you can start making a plan for when that gorgeous baby is here xx

That's good to hear @Emzwell I'm one of the Ones with a low placenta, gives me hope and am also glad I get another peek at baby at 34 week scan :)

Fingers crossed the itching is nothing like midwife said @Waitingonasmile I'm sure you will be fine!

MegRam · 19/09/2017 18:27

@Iamchanging People say the strangest things at the strangest times - try not to take it to heart. All that matters is you, your DH and your lovely little bean. Easier said that done I know.

Lovely seeing everyone's bumps! I am feel like I am getting huge (although I have also put on more weight that I should have so it's not all baby!)

January Babies #5 - Are we 'glowing' yet?!
MrsPworkingmummy · 19/09/2017 18:50

So pleased to have found the thread again. I also feel my bump is growing daily. I teach, and since going back to work, have been inundated with compliments (Hmm) about how much bigger I am than people expected (I'm usualy very slim, but I think because this is my second pregnancy, I'm just huge).
I've been hit with back to school germs and am loaded with cold at the moment. Feel weak, lost voice and just generally snotty and feeling sorry for myself - still feel pressured to go to work so have dragged myself in the past two days. Baby's movements have definitely lessened since I've been ill. Was getting fairly regular movements since 20 weeks (I'm 21+4 now) and am now just feeling an occasional faint kick . A little worrying - has anyone else experienced this when ill? I feel terrible too as had a lemsip and didn't realise it had decongestant in which we're not meant to have.

SJ1989 · 19/09/2017 18:58

My bump last week at 24+5

SJ1989 · 19/09/2017 19:00

@MrsPWorkingMummy don't feel bad, you didn't realise it's easily done and I'm sure as a one off it won't do any harm in sure it's just if your regularly dosed up on it and more of a precaution than a definite that it causes problems!

Lovely seeing some lively bumps of all shapes and sizes :)

SJ1989 · 19/09/2017 19:00

Lovely not lively haha

SpringChicken26 · 19/09/2017 19:47

What's everyone's movement like ? I'm 24+4 with anterior placenta felt movement for about the past 3 weeks but it's so erratic some days I can literally see my stomach move from the outside with movement other days I only feel the few odd flutters ! So worrying on his quiet days !!

hodgeheg92 · 19/09/2017 19:55

@mrsPworkingmummy I'm a teacher with the lurgy after going back after summer too! It seems to be doing the rounds of our staff. I had yesterday off and felt much better (but also slightly pathetic and guilty). Today I went back and have lost my voice so kind of regretting that choice! I think teachers generally get the worst guilt when we're off but you have the best excuse to be a little selfish! Hope you're feeling better soon Flowers smothering myself in Vicks vapour rub has been my only saviour

Hotpinkangel19 · 19/09/2017 20:54

@SpringChicken26 exactly the same here, I’m 24 + 3

MrsPworkingmummy · 19/09/2017 22:49

@hodgeheg92 Yep, I've pretty much lost my voice too. Not good! I wish I'd taken the time off to be honest, but my philosophy has always been if you can get out of bed and put your clothes on, then you can get through a day at work. I'm just taking it day by day and dreaming of my maternity leave. Vicks has also been my saviour. I put a spoon full of it in a bowl of hot water and have sat with my head over as it as my blocked nose it driving me potty. X

Gemxo · 20/09/2017 13:17

Quite pissed off today!

I've been having back pain mixed with lots of watery discharge and I've read that these are symptoms you should not ignore when pregnant so I called my community midwives line to speak to someone who just fobbed me off with the line of 'it's normal to have discharge in pregnancy' yes I know that!! Mixed with back pain? It just seems she was not bothered in the slightest.

I asked a couple of questions because I felt she was fobbing me off and now she has told me to wear a pad and ring back in a few hours about what's on the pad, since the beginning of my pregnancy I have felt MW's I have delt with just don't care!

Gemxo · 20/09/2017 13:30

I have also just tested my urine for protein and this was the result, would you say that is negative or 'trace'?

As I mentioned a few days ago I have been having terrible pain below my right ribs and I've been told this is a sign of preeclampsia! (Doesn't help that that at my last mw app I also had high blood pressure) I know I sound like a worrier but I can't help it, this is my 3rd pregnancy after 2 miscarriages and I'm just desperate to know everything is ok.

Waitingonasmile · 20/09/2017 14:42

Hi

Gemxo I totally understand being worried and feeling ignored. I would say that's negative and (to my eyes anyway) definitely negative. If you are worried about pre e then keep an eye on any swelling, headaches, visual disturbances and maybe invest in a blood pressure monitor. I got had pre e last time and bought one this time for £20. Have they put you on anything to reduce BP?

I think some other ladies said there are strips you can buy from a chemist that can test discharge to see if it's your waters? Might be worth popping to one and checking.

peachgreen · 20/09/2017 15:28

I think that's negative @GemXO - also I had a trace result when I had mine tested by the midwife and she said it's usual due to dehydration or cross-contamination (from sweat etc) and anything worrying would be much higher.

However I totally understand you worrying - I went into the EOU when I first started getting watery discharge and they were lovely, scanned and reassured me. I get loads now and don't worry, but I definitely was at first. Sorry they've not been very helpful or reassuring to you. Sad

Mummyme87 · 20/09/2017 18:46

Definitely looks negative but a trace is not a sign of pre eclampsia, very common and usually due to contamination, dehydration etc.

Feeling very fed up this evening. Everything just feels like a real struggle. DS is driving me insane, I feel like I waste my days when I'm not in work because I'm so lazy and takes me until after lunch to get my act together 😞

millsbynight · 20/09/2017 21:16

Don't feel guilty @Mummyme87 ! I sent DS to his dad's for the week thinking our boiler wouldn't be fixed and so didn't want DS to have cold baths. Our boiler has been fixed but I haven't told DS or his dad because I'm enjoying child-free school nights 🙈 It's just for the week so I don't feel like too much of a rubbish parent but I'm just so tired in the mornings, not having to faff around with morning school run has been a dream.

OP posts:
WLMcI · 20/09/2017 21:17

Oh @Mummyme I feel you on the tiredness! But that's what days off are for right now--we're growing another human and it's never going to be a walk in the park! Also the MW suspects I have a UTI, which could be draining me of energy (waiting on the results) :(

I do have a wee cheerful anecdote for you all! Well it's advice really. So you know how we were (I think on this thread) chatting about the lady garden maintenance and how it's becoming a bit more of a tactical maneouvre as the belly grows? And you know how I love my baths to soothe the SPD? Well I had the genius idea to combine the 2-- thought it would be easier to see and reach what I'm doing in the bath. DO NOT DO THIS. I realised the flaw in the plan as soon as I started, but it was too late, and by the time I got out the bath looked as if the Gruffalo had been in it! Grin Grin Grin

millsbynight · 20/09/2017 21:19

I should add ExP is doing the school run. Haven't sent DS on a jolly and a week off school!

OP posts:
SJ1989 · 21/09/2017 09:36

@WLMcl that made me chuckle!!

Seems most of us are feeling a bit rubbish at the moment, although I can't complain just a bit grotty in general, agreed to have my nephew today who is 15 month and seems to of arrived full of a cold, his mum had flu last week so hoping it is just a cold he has and I some how manage not to catch it off him!

Waitingonasmile · 21/09/2017 09:39

We can't have long now until people start going on maternity leave!!! Is anyone going next month? I still have until 21st of December (37 weeks) but not long until weeks are single figures. Smile

Disinterested · 21/09/2017 11:00

Thinking of @iamchanging today and hoping you get good news.

I've not been working since the beginning of August, I don't know how you guys have kept going so long, I have to have a nap at 2pm every day haha!

reetgood · 21/09/2017 11:23

Woah people are on maternity leave already. I'm not ready for that idea. I'm due 4 jan and hopefully stopping 7 Dec but it's my company and I need to confirm my maternity cover, sort my maternity pay etc . First child and I've got a lot of autonomy though in how I do my role so easier to adapt.

Disinterested · 21/09/2017 12:01

Mines not strictly maternity leave, partner (husband in 4 weeks - aaaah!!) had a big pay rise and my work atmosphere was toxic so I quit and will be a stay at home mum. Very against the times but it's what I've always wanted to do. X

Iamchanging · 21/09/2017 12:35

Thank you disinterested. It went as good as it can in the circumstances. Her ventricles are still enlarged but at this stage they can't see anything else wrong with her. MRI on Monday to get a more detailed look. X
