Hello! I'm back!

Yay for Scooter! I would be flattered.

No, no drinks with bubbles so nothing in cans! Tried fizzy water once when there was nothing else available and it was vile- the bubbles go up your nose. Can't even pretend to know what Dandelion and Burdock is but it sounds intriguing.

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2007 14:33

Never been whistled at...

aprilmeadow · 02/04/2007 14:35

Good lord you can see that mat leave has started on the May thread!!!!

Been shopping and swapped my one secret stork present for lots of little bits and bobs. I feel quite pleased with myself now!

Cant say that i have driven or flown any of the vehicles mentioned. SOH am that you havent tried coke, although not too .

Have decided to try and make all the birthday cards required for the month of April as I have about 20! Figured that i should have some time on my hands. If they look crap then at least i can blame it on ds and say he made them....

dejags, sorry to hear about your cat. I lost a cat 2 years ago, it was so sad. Am thinking of you x

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2007 14:38

I love making birthday cards- old cereal packet, glue, sugar paper, tissue paper, glitter, pens and an artistic license and away you go. I see the trepidation in people's eyes when I hand them a card. Same fear that I see when I announce 'ooh I've knitted something for you'.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 14:38

Gosh see TYG I say it too. Chatter chatter, maternity leave has started. The sun is out and everyone sounds very happy today. I'm pleased.

Going to attempt to write, but I read thread at 48 messages by the time I had finished reading and refreshed it had gone to 71 so I started reading again. Now typing very fast in the hope to get something down before I miss too much more.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 14:50

No good trying to sell my beautiful handmade cards to you ladies if you all make them too.

BefnalBunny · 02/04/2007 14:50

hi all! thanks for the encouragement to take it easy - I now can as we've.....FINISHED THE KITCHEN yay! will post before and after photo when i get a mo. think everyone should get those easter names going - our thread needs some festivity!

Question: stem cells - is anyone going to take some and have them frozen? Also strep B test anyone?

ShowOfHands · 02/04/2007 14:55

I'm terrible with name changing. I was LineOnTheLeftOneCrossEach very briefly but in response to another thread about Easter and blasphemy. I can't think of anything Eastery to do with my name. Great news about the kitchen!

MrsJB- ouch! Fed up with my coccyx. Trying to turn over is agony. 6.5 weeks to go (or maybe more depending on when this baby shows up). This final bit drags doesn't it?

twelveyeargap · 02/04/2007 14:55

Did think about the stem cells thing, but DH (medical wizz) reckons that the science of storing them is so inaccurate that it's a waste of money. Plus, I 'm sure I heard recently that they've recently discovered you can take stem cells from the back of the nose. That it's one place stem cells continue to grow all through your life.

OP posts:
Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 14:59

Befnalbunny, Strep B test is routine here, 37 weeks I think. It's not always accurate though as it can come and go in pregnancy. I could be clear at 37 weeks and then not at birth.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 15:02

Thats what I was trying to write TYg about the acuracy of stem cells, couldn't find the right words without sounding totally fick so gave up, glad you wrote it.

BefnalBunny · 02/04/2007 15:03

cool - both have got me a bit confused - the stem cell thing sounds cool, but is expensive and largely untested. equally the strep B thing sounds frightening, but it looks as if knowing in advance doesn't necessarily help as you're given drugs (which the baby may or may not need and which may or may not work). hmm. nice and clear then!

AbbyLou · 02/04/2007 15:09

I,ve been thinking more and more about the Strep B test but there seems so much negative publicity around it. When you read the horrible, devastating things it can so to a baby it makes me want to get tested. Then I read last night about how inaccurate the test is. I have no qualms at al about paying the £32 but it seems a waste of time and money if the results could change. I would have no idea where to get it done either, I very much doubt they do it routinely round here.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 15:31

Abbylou, I'm not sure anywhere in the UK tests for strep B routinely yet, altough they are campaigning for it. I think they should be able to test you at te start of your labour.

Pinkjenny · 02/04/2007 15:52

Good god women, how can there be 91 messages today already!

I'd like to make a formal complaint to LG&T. I love you a lot, but that '13 and a half stone monster' comment made me want to cry. I have put 3 stone on, and am 13 stone 5.

Apart from that, feeling great.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 15:58

I wondered how long it would take for someone to tell her off for that.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/04/2007 15:59

Bet your the first back to 10stone though pinkjenny, closely followed by me.

Pinkjenny · 02/04/2007 16:01

Thanks Mrs JB. You're gorgeous.

I think I look perfectly fine and healthy. Or maybe its just the blusher. I'm trying not to focus on all the chocolate.

It is Easter though, surely its the law.

jellybellybump · 02/04/2007 16:20

Easter is going to be so not fair this year.

I was all geared up to eat as many chocolate eggs as possible only to be diagnosed with gestational diabetes last week.

BefnalBunny · 02/04/2007 16:20

I can beat you on that - have gone from 10.5 to 14 stone!!

BefnalBunny · 02/04/2007 16:21

just don't try running, thats all I can say on that one - tried running for the bus the other night (whats worse I managed it). couldn't walk properly for 3 days, or turn over in bed. owwww.

SKYTVADDICT · 02/04/2007 16:26

I've gone from 12 to 14 stone - will stop weighing myself now I think - don't want to know if I get any bigger!

Pinkjenny · 02/04/2007 16:27

BB - I'd no sooner run than have a bowl of fruit for breakfast. But then, I wouldn't dream of running when I wasn't pg - huge norks.

Jelly - that's absolutely outrageous. At least you can feel superior and virtuous. In 'temple mode' as Nigella says.

Pebble - congrats on your pink one by the way! I am so excited about mine. SOH would be horrified at the sight of her wardrobe, a sea of candy pink. I did resist the pink bugaboo though and went for the black one.

TYG, AbbyLou and everyone else that has started mat leave, I am so jealous. I have another 6 weeks in work. Boo! Although to be fair, my laptop packed up last Wednesday so I haven't actually done anything.

Abby - I am thinking about this Group B strep thing too. Its on my list for the midwife for Thursday.

MKG · 02/04/2007 16:35

Hey everyone!

I had a great weekend and am feeling better about things. Thanks for your ears. This baby is killing me today it's too much information, I'll just say that the toilet and I have seen each other too much today.

Just for arguements sake I love pacifiers (dummies) it's getting them to give them up that is the issue.
