Apologies for spelling and grammar on previous post.My mind has quite gone..

largeginandtonic · 03/04/2007 10:39

Morning all.

Forgot to mention yesterday TYG that the medela breast pumps are fab, they are the ones i had when in hospital after the twins. I had huge milking machine type one on the SCBU that i could attach both boobs too. I used to get 250mls off each breast every 4 hours in about 20mins! They were super efficient. The twins started with 0.5 ml at a feed, by the time they came out of hospital they had progressed to 25mls every 2 hours....IMAGINE the stock of breast milk i had in my freezer!!! They had no milk bank there, it was such a shame as i could have fed the whole unit

Not sure what this boy is doing but he is deep in my pelvis doing whatever it is. Im getting those electric shocks up my fanjo, ouch!

Didnt get the tape measure out but will later

MKG my boobs are up to a d now, i love it. However they are leaking colostrum now and doing the let down reflex quite a bit since the prem labour.Im hoping to avoid breastpads till he is born at least

I too just love this thread, everybody should join mumsnet to have this kind of support. I think at that stupid 1st doctors appointment when you go to tell him\her your pregnant, they should hand out mumsnet leaflets. I bet it would be the nmost useful thing they ever recieve.

AM you have reminded me of my lovely KK's from Scooter sat unloved and uneaten in the bloody post office in Gosport Curses, drat and double drat....

What is everyones plans today then? Mine will be sitting, bit of wandering round the house.... >

ShowOfHands · 03/04/2007 10:43

E cup here in Norfolk, all bras eschewed in favour of boulder holders!

LG&T I believe you are referring to Crotch Zingers- like somebody prodding up there with a knitting needle? It's an interesting sensation...

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 10:44

Lg&t - if you send me your address i will post some to you tomorrow afternoon :-) my email is [email protected] if you have a preference on flavour i can get my 'supplier' to them especially

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 10:46

I really dont know what to do with myself! I have ten ton of washing to put away and loads of crap that is piled on the stairs, but so far cant decide what to do first. Maybe i should go and spend 30mins doing the washing then come back and treat myself to a go on MN, then i can have lunch and then tackle the rest.... sounding a little bit like a plan

Pebblemum · 03/04/2007 11:07

Morning all

My secret shower parcel arrived today. Whoever you are thank you, the blanket is gorgeous. I now have something pink!!!!
I was going to put a card in mine but then i went and signed it, Doh!!! Not much point in sending a signed card when its supposed to be secret is there Now to work out who my secret gift giver is

Im stuck in all day today waiting for the gas man yet again , everytime we arrange a suitable day they dont turn up. Either that or they turn up a week early just as im going out. This wil be the fourth attempt so i hope for their sake they turn up soon.

The good thing with having the gas man coming round it meant i had to make sure the housework was done early so now i can just sit on my bum lol.

largeginandtonic · 03/04/2007 11:16

It is lovely getting things in the post isnt it Pebble, makes you all smiley

April i have emailed you

DH just come home from town with a stair gate to keep Hugs downstairs. He is such a nightmare i just couldnt handle the shouting and dragging downstairs for the next 7 weeks. He has also bought the baby some teeny tiny dummies, they are soooo cute. I love it when he does things like that, shows he is thinking about it

Pebblemum · 03/04/2007 11:41

Yes it does LG&T. I have worked out who it was too, no one is safe with the internet are they, a quick check of the postcode and the area its from pops up I already had an idea though.

When my mum was in hospital after having my sister, she had to express her milk to give to some of the other babies, she had so much and the midwives likened it to clotted cream, it was so thick. She had massive boobs too, she had trouble gettign bras to fit. When her regular Dr saw her after the birth his eyes nearly popped out of his head luckily i dont take after her in that respect, im quite happy with the 36d's ive got now, dont want them any bigger.

As for how much weight ive put on, i dread to think. I used to hate it with the ds's as the midwives seemed to enjoy weighing me at every visit, this time they dont seem too fussed thank god. I cant even measure my waist because i lent my tape measure to a friend and never got it back, oh what a shame

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 11:50

Was feeling very smug with myself for ploughing through the washing pile only to discover the 2 airers full of clothes. have decided to sit and mn for a bit and then go back for round two.

Oooooohhhhhhh my stork arrived. Very excited. Thank you thank you thank you. Beautiful 'ickle dress, muslins and smellies. The box was just beautiful as well - butterflies - so it matches the nursery!! Me think i will use it as a keepsake box I also think i know who its from so thank you again.

Going to pop into town after lunch and get all the bit i need to wrap my storky bits.

Pebblemum · 03/04/2007 11:52

I really need to get some feeding bras but as it is going to be summer i want some nice ones that i can get away with wearing under skimpy tops, not the big over the shoulder boulder holders that you normally get IYKWIM and was wondering if any of you can recommend any decent brands. With ds2 I was able to carry on wearing my normal size bras and so just converted a few of them into feeding bras but this time im bigger and really need to invest in some decent ones. Any ideas?

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 12:06

oooh its only 1mth til my due date. how exciting

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 12:08

Pebble - have you looked on here

aprilmeadow · 03/04/2007 12:11

I had a look on ebay. they had some nice ones and the brand new ones were bargain prices.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/04/2007 12:13

Morning all.......

Been to French class this morning. Feeling OK? but sore, thats a good idea scoot about the rubber ring, I have some in our pool box so will try that this evening and see if it helps. SOH, try it too.

I have measured my bump. it's 40.5 inches, told you it was still little?

You ladies all have huge norks too. Mine are a 38C now so fairly normal, have bought 40D nursing bras, so I'm wishful they'll grow.

Off to make some lucnh.

twelveyeargap · 03/04/2007 12:14

Afternoon. Am being utterly spoiled. There have been three cleaning women working away in the house since 9am. Hopefully they'll be done by 2 and I can get off to Brent Cross for fabric and secret stork shopping.

Once the house is clean, it should be easier to unpack the last of the sodding boxes. I think a lot of it can probably go in the loft if I can drag DH away from his gardening for a couple of hours.

The first bits of my interweb shopping came today. Yay! Lots of little pots of organic baby toiletries like nappy balm and milk bath. Can't wait for the furniture to come.

I saw those hospital-grade Medela pumps LG&T. You can rent them! DH said I could buy the super-duper home-grade one with two pumps, but it came with this ginormous backpack for the pumping mechanism and I thought it was a tad excessive for "occasional use", not to mention cumbersome if you need to take a pump out and about! It was aimed at mothers who work full time and want to carry on breast feeding. It was MAHUSIVE.

I wonder do hospitals not have milk banks any more because of cross-infection or something? I only heard of them from someone who had her baby the same year I was born. Seems a shame not to have it when most women have been tested for blardy everything in pregnancy.

Bought an Avent steam steriliser and started to unpack it last night and then realised the Medela bottles/ pump might not fit in it. Doh. Perhaps someone on MN will know...

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/04/2007 12:17

I don't know for sure tyg, but I have the avent steam steriliser, it's fairly flexible as you can shuffle around all the inside bits, trays etc. May mean you won't get quite as much in in one go but it would still sterillise. IUKWIM

twelveyeargap · 03/04/2007 12:24

Thanks Mrs JB. Hopefully the medela stuff will be here soon and I can double check. Was being impatient becuase I'm off to the shops today and thought I could return the Avent one. Keep forgetting I have tons of time on my hands.

SOH/ Scooter - Did we decide a day to meet up?
