Hi Pesha!

Poor DD1 - her latest "thing" is not wanting to go to bed. She screams and screams and screams and scareams. We're having to lock her bedroom door (she can undo stairgates) and let her scream it off. It is v.tough as she shares a room with DD2. Just don't know what to do, other than chant my mantra: "It's only a phase, It's only a phase..." and wait for her to fall asleep on the floor by the door.

Not good.

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 19:30

Hi pesha.

CD ds1 went through that stage but soon grew out of it thankfully.

CaptainDippy · 31/03/2007 19:32

That's reassuring to know - She's stopped now - All Quiet on the Western Front. Phew!

Going to go and ennoy a nice dinner with DH and generally flake out .....

Oooooh, Flake ...... Mmmmmmm........

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 19:33

Enjoy!!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 31/03/2007 19:47

CD, Becky went through that phase, and we found out it was because she was no longer happy having her door shut and the light off, but she didn't make that clear to us! It is horrid isn't it, but as you say, just another one of the many phases they go through.

thePA · 31/03/2007 20:05

honestly, it takes pictures of babies to make her come back, is that all you want us for Pinions?

off to do shopping as nothing for tea and no child.

back later

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 20:08

Ha ha. Bit worried about the no child bit.

runnyhabbit · 31/03/2007 21:30

Hi all

Hope everyone is doing well

1b3 - your babies are gorgeous

Well, for the past few days I've been getting a lot of lower back and period type pain. Nothing regular, but enough to take my breath away. This morning, me dh and ds were all in bed having a cuppa, when I felt rather wet. Went to toilet, and my knickers were soaking, and didn't smell of wee Told dh and decided to put a pad on and see how the day went (With ds, my waters trickled instead of a gush) Felt really uncomfortable all day, so rang the mw when we got in, explained the symptoms, and she said it could be the start of early labour. She came out, examined me, only to find that my waters hadn't broken, and my cervix was still quite tight. The wetness I had this morning was probably just discharge. Talk about an anti-climax Felt like such a plank, but mw was lovely, and told me that for a second pregnancy the babys head was very low down, which is always a good sign.

So, as you can imagine, my emotions have been all over the place today.

nuttygirl · 31/03/2007 21:39

Hi all,

Liath congrats to your sis

Loving the twin pic 1b3.

Well I've been at the hospital for the last 2 hours. Hadn't felt baby kick for a while so they said to come in and be monitored. All okay, didn't feel many kicks while being monitored but could hear that baby was kicking so they think she's kicking the placenta!!! She was also being a bit lazy...so had to have some cold water and change positions, started to feel a couple of kicks after that. Monitor did confirm that what I thought were BHs are indeed BHs.

nuttygirl · 31/03/2007 21:47

Hope you're ok RH...sorry I've just read your post.

CD - You went down a slide I got stuck on the sofa this afternoon!!!

nuttygirl · 31/03/2007 21:52

Right DH back with food.

In case anyone's wondering, I've had no word from Octo...

thePA · 31/03/2007 21:57

she's here, i'm sure of it, she's just hiding

no child cos Matthew gone to his dad's
and yes, very last minute with having nothing in for tea, have been meaning to do a shop all week

have noe done a HUGE shop tho, loads of chicken, bacon, bread for freezer so that it won't matter too much if i'm not up to driving for a while as I in a tiny village with no shop and a mile to the bus stop, which is downhill on the way there but uphill on the way back which doesn't help when carrying shopping!

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 22:01

Are you going to get anyone to stay with you Ellie?

thePA · 31/03/2007 22:08

no, my friend has the week after my due date off work, she's coming to the hospital with me, but after that it's just me.

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 22:10

Did you say that you can drive though?? How about your brothers will they be able to help out a bit?

thePA · 31/03/2007 22:14

yeah, i can drive, so long as i'm feeling up to it. i have narcolepsy so if i'm too tired i won't drive. my bro's are away that week but back the week after, the youngest is very helpful and will happily take matthew for a few hours, tho he's too young to drive, but the oldest is bleedin useless! he will do stuff for me if i make him tho

of course, they live with my dad, and if he ever left the pub or the sofa for long enough he might almost be useful

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 22:22

Gosh no wonder you're careful about your driving. Your youngest brother then sounds like your best bet help wise and as for your other one then just tell him to get his arse into gear!

As for shopping have you not thought about online delivery, have you checked your postcode? Just a thought,it makes things a whole lot easier.

claricebean · 31/03/2007 22:22

Hi all, congrats to the new babies and mums.

Well, I am in absolute agony with my thrombosed haemorroids..aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh. Can't walk, sit etc and have to get myself to the GP every day for a change in the packing (yuck) which is just too horrible.

Anyway, having had three DC naturally using TENS machine, I'm now being advised to have an epidural because I am already in so much pain (and to be Honest have considered a section although have been told this is over the top for piles!!). So, my question is this: how much does it hurt when they put in the epidural? Do you get a local first? Is that in your spinal space too? I am a real wimp about needles, although can appreciate the upside afterwards.

Help me someone.

thePA · 31/03/2007 22:25

i had an epidural, they used a topical local (kinda gel stuff) on the spot where they then put the needle in, i had no pain but there is a risk of them getting it in wrong place. I'd like to avoid it, just so i can say i've done it without, but would have one again if it hurt too much!

thePA · 31/03/2007 22:26

oh, and as they have to do it between contractions, and you're bent forwards for them to do it, the needle will be the last thing on your mind

thePA · 31/03/2007 22:27

as for shopping, i can do it online, they're pretty useless round here, we only have small supermarkets locally and they very rarely have much in stock. i tend to go over to the bigger stores once a fortnight and do a big shop instead. it's there if i need it tho so i've set it up incase!

Pinionsrus · 31/03/2007 22:30

Good for you. we've got loads of supermarkets left right and centre but I do all mine on line cos I hate all the hassle especially with LO's in tow anyway.

As for epidurals I am trying not to think about it. I've left it pretty late but am thinking of getting a tens machine?

claricebean · 31/03/2007 22:32

thanks, thePA...have always wanted to avoid one myself because of the increased likelihood of intervention and therefore recovery time. But seems like my recovery is going to be grim now with this added problem anyway.

Feel like I'm sitting on a time bomb waiting for labour. I've gone from wanting it to start (before haemorroids got so bad) to desperately worrying at every twinge. I could definitely use a bit more recovery time pre birth.

claricebean · 31/03/2007 22:33

Pinions - x post. I can definitely recommend a TENS machine. That saw me through my other three labours.
