Glad that I haven't yet been subjected to the wonders of modern children's programming. I shall be dusting off my button moon video when this one starts becoming interested!

Had a glorious afternoon in the garden. Can't believe how warm it was for this time of year. Going to be all earth mothery now and make cake. This is what I'm making. Can't tell you how good it is. Especially since I use raspberries instead of blackberries. Got to do something nice for the Husband, he's working 6 days a week at the mo' to earn some extra money, but for the first time since Xmas he has 3 WHOLE DAYS OFF! Got to try and be nice to him and not nag him. I'm a bad wife. But the way to his heart is definitely with cake. And I might force some down too...

riabutterflew · 05/04/2007 20:10

Haven't made it to the upstairs tidying yet. Got sidetracked with wrapping easter gifts for Godson and own children, and b'day gifts for DS1. Am on the way up there now...
What is a Doula? Am I being very stupid in not knowing? It sounds painful?

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 20:13

Shit! Easter Gifts?? What are they for then? Are we meant to do that????

A doula is someone who 'mothers the mother' during late pregnancy/giving birth and afterwards. They might go through birthing options, be there to hold her hand during the birth and do some light housework, give a new mum a break while she has a bath, that kind of thing. Lovely Mars Lady is one, and both Holly and I have been thinking about training too. Its not like being a midwife as you don't do anything medical.

riabutterflew · 05/04/2007 20:26

Still here. Thanks foxy, don't think I'll be needing one of those then. I'll manage with DH for birthing stuff and mum for ironing. (Actually I was dead energetic after DS2 and was so on top of the housework it was unbelievable.)
I don't know why I do Easter gifts. My friend started it and now we do it every year. We don't exchange chocolate eggs for the kids so I suppose it's instead of those. I don't mean massive xmas-like gifts, just a little something. I have eaten the mini creme eggs I bought for my dad . I did manage not to eat the ones I got for the boys (yet). My sister usually rings to say don't get my kids any easter eggs as they don't really eat them. I don't really get it anyway. Life is very commercial sometimes (and not nearly enough free shopping to be had!)

BadZelda · 05/04/2007 20:33

Heh - funny bumberlicious. We haven't got a telly as such (watch stuff through the computer) but Ella loves old episodes of Rainbow and Button Moon: they're classics.

marylou23 · 05/04/2007 20:49

Personally I can't wait for any excuse to buy videos of The Muppets . Tell me they do them, someone?! No doubt junior will turn his nose up at them, but his mum will be rolling around in laughter...
Derlor, glad your ear is back to normal and justbeme hope you are getting over the fainting episode. I had one weeks ago in the theatre - once I cooled down and had some water I was okay, but it's pretty scary when it happens. Def a good excuse to put your feet up over Easter...!
Ria, easter gifts sound like lovely idea. Although am still smarting from the fact that MIL sent us (ME! ME!) two Lindt bunnies, and DH gobbled them both up. He's as much of a chocoholic as I am...

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:10

Good evening ladies!! I have no baby tonight ((sticks tongue out emoticon!!)). We left her at my parents whilst we went to Sainsburys and when we got back she was bathed, ready for bed and having her bottle and my mum said "she might as well stay here!" Ha ha!! Lie in for me tomorrow! It is really weird though. I keep standing at the bottom of the stairs and listening for her!

Honestly Marylou, induction is fine. I was induced and my dd has had no lasting effects (unlike my fanjo !). I had a lovely serene and quick water birth so don't listen to induction horror stories, they are not always the norm!

As for kids watching tv, my dd watches way more cbeebies than she probably should, but she learns so much from it. Anyway how the hell are you supposed to get anything done without plonking them in front of the tv? Cbeebies rocks!!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 21:20

Soooo, watcha doing on here Holly????

You, DP, no child .....

Or is there sport on?

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:23

I'm not going to do it foxy, if that's what you're implying!! I've really gone off the idea lately, I think it may be my great hulking mass that may be putting me off! I am just looking forward to a lie in tomorrow! That's really sad isn't it?

nannyjo · 05/04/2007 21:24

thanks everyone for all your supportive messages.

Bloods still not looking good but not in the danger stage yet so were hanging on

When i was last on here i was telling you about my crave for a veggie burger. I've just sent DH out to go and get it . It's been a long time coming and i'm determined to enjoy it (even tho i shouldn't be having it really)

I need to pack my bag incase i get admitted but i can't for the life remember what to take even tho this is second time round!!!

Lots of snacks and water by the bottle (i've got a friend who is a nurse and she advices NEVER drink from hospital jugs cos they aren't just used for water by many of the patients IYSWIM!! Yuck. Thats my best advice for you all

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:29

Glad you are ok nannyjo, hope your bloods stay safe for a few more weeks. Enjoy your veggie burger!!!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 21:32

Euuwwww! NannyJo Thats gross!

I'm willing for that baby to hang on in there.... fingers crossed, positive vibes, hugs, all coming your way...

Will they induce you or c-section?

I always favour cartons of full-fat ribena and full-fat coke during labour. just don't tell anyone on here ...

Holly, cuddles and conversation - obviously! The very thought of it

riabutterflew · 05/04/2007 21:33

Thanks for that advice nannyjo. Take care.[hug thingy]
Well, there is a floor in DS2s room. I am amazed. Have brought all jigsaws downstairs to do in front of tv. (Hope there is something on...)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:35

Conversation is over-rated! He's been at home most of the day, so I'm a bit sick of the sight of him!!!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 21:36

bad luck ria. bugger all on tonight.

i am surrounded by crap, but i refuse to do housework after 7pm. do enough during the day. or at least i did before I discovered MN. Now I live in a right pigsty.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:38

I haven't done the washing up yet and dp isn't going to do it because apparently it is his birthday weekend now! It is his birthday on Saturday and the whole of Easter weekend is his birthday weekend! I have had to cook him steak this evening as it is his birthday !

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 21:41

its mine next week. DP is of course, away with work all week. its also our 7th anniversary of meeting.

how depressing!!!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:48

Awww you poor thing ! We can have a virtual birthday party for you! I'll make a cake !! (Ewww isn't that gross, who would eat that?)!!!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 21:50

HOW did you find that????!!!

riabutterflew · 05/04/2007 21:52

Ha! Where do you find these things Holly?
Must get on with those bloody jigsaws - then they an all go to the charity shop tomorrow (not really, just some of them...)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 05/04/2007 21:53

Just had a look for pics of birthday cakes and it POPPED up at me!! It is so wrong on so many levels!

bumperlicious · 05/04/2007 22:09

Ewwwww! Still, like you, at the moment I would prefer a sponge and buttercream one than the real thing. Can't remember the last time. It's all I can do to sit comfortably on the sofa or sleep at the moment, let alone get jiggy with it. How sad...

Nannyjo, hoping things get better for you. Pack some lovely things in your bag.

Sorry you'll e spending your birthday on your own foxy, but you'll have much more fun on here with us!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 22:12

I'll probably be at my parents for my birthday. trouble is, i am not sure my mum will remember - she didn't give me a xmas pres!

i'm a miserable bugger!!!!!

foxybrown · 05/04/2007 22:18

OK, I'm taking my mardy-arse and fidgety-bump to bed for a cup of hot milk.

Poor DS2 seems like he's in a bit of pain, he's crying out in his sleep. He mentioned his tongue was hurting at tea time. I put bonjela on it, which seemed to help. Anyone any ideas what it might be? Tongue doesn't look spotty or red, nor does it look like he's bitten it.
