Hi there ladies! Have been chucked off the computer all day , apparently Football Manager is more important than MN!!

Sorry for moaning so much early, I was severely stressed out! Feeling better now, dp is going to the shop after dinner to buy me ice cream !! I think you hit the nail on the head sputnik, I have had my space invaded! We have such a quiet house normally and loads of room and every fortnight I feel like I am being invaded! As for the bedwetting...well, he does it at home too, so it is not a grabbing dad's attention thing. Dp has had numerous words with him about it and he doesn't even seem to be embarrassed or particularly bothered. I'm just glad we don't have expensive matresses or bedding on that bed!

On the job front I love being a SAHM. We can't really afford for me not to be working, but it will only be til the dcs are at school then I'll have to start working again. I am just enjoying my baby, soon to be babies, ATM. I do get really lonely at times, but my dd is always good for cheering me up!

Lol at mashgate foxy! They can be little shits can't they! Hope you manged to get it all cleaned up!

Glad you are feeling ok sputnik! Things like that can be really worrying. I had a bleed when pg with my dd at 24 weeks and was told I was slightly dilated which could have caused the bleed. They didn't seem particularly concerned though and I ended up having her at 42 weeks after being 3 cms at 40 weeks! I think my cervix is a bit lazy!

Sorry for the long post and hope everyone has had a good day xx

sputnik · 31/03/2007 18:25

Glad I'm not the only one with a lazy cervix then. Like the rest of me I suppose

Mummyjx - laughing at your Ria-ness, brings back happy memories of watching Butterflies, I so loved that programme. I remember the sons' expression as they looked at what she had dished up!

I think I may be joining you all riding the wave of hormones too, I am in such an irrationally FOUL mood, like really bad PMT. I hate everyone and everything - eg, round here we have lots of elderly drivers and they are driving me apeshit, they go at 15mph, dither, don't indicate - normally I am reasonably sanguine about it but today I want to punch them! We went to Wagamama and had to wait, I was huffing and puffing like a walrus. Dh is at least being very understanding, and keeping his head down as I bark orders!

Marylou - echoing bumper - what do you do - is it a sound or art studio? And I agree with you, I have been trying to carry on as normal and have just given in and flopped on the sofa....

Daisy - I am on that thread, I think, I feel quite a bit better now, and like bumper I think I am anxious, rather than depressed. I hope the book is good and helpful.

mummyjx · 31/03/2007 19:30

I laugh at my Ria-ness too (fortunately it's probably the only thing about my life this week that doesn't make me want to cry and scream ad hide under the table - oh what a full boat this is that we are all on). I think it is made worse by DH being a chef, so I often get "daddy doesn't make it like that". Daddy is never here to cook[not properly angry little face picture thingy]. I never claimed to be Nigella (do you think she might actually be perfect). Baked beans are a SUPERDUPER food (sadly they had poached eggs and toast for breakfast or that woudl have been tea.)
I feel very humbled by everyone elses professions - not really ever had a proper one. Maybe one day, that's why I had kids young, but by the time they're big I'll be too knackered (or will have poisoned us all...)I suppose I'll have to get another job when they are all at school, unless I have a fourth? (not bloody likely...)
Enjoy your icecream Holly! Will it be Ben & Jerrys?

derlor · 31/03/2007 19:33

EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND SEE THIS..................oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!!!!! i have to join YUMAFECKINLICIOUS

foxybrown · 31/03/2007 19:45

mummyjx, can we change your name to Ria - I love butterflies, even when I was very young - I loved her incompetence in the kitchen, especially her trifle!! Now I have a lovely image of you in my head as her (hope you take that as a compliment - it is meant as one!)

TBH I don't think there is such a thing as a 'having it all woman'. Its a load of media bollocks and it makes me really angry, like to be attractive you have to be a size 6 with great breasts. Neither woman exists and if they do its only with massive compromise be it childcare or surgery! I know someone who was an evening nanny for a family where the mum was a lawyer. Obviously they had a day nanny too - WTF is that all about. I also think a true part-time post is very hard to come by, I know so many women who cram 5 days work into 3 or 4. It makes me so mad that job-sharing isn't more the norm, it really is such a viable option which just isn't entertained by so many businesses.
I'd be happy for my daughters to be SAHMs, I'd be happy for them to have careers, but I'd hope we'd be close enough to help out. I've got my degree, have had a career, but looking after my children is more important to me. If I persued a career our children would suffer, because of the job TP does, his hours, working away etc. Our families are both 4 hours away. We couldn't afford childcare for 4 children anyway, we'd have to have a full-time nanny, which would take my entire salary and I'd be paying tax twice. I don't envy any woman who has a career drive, I'm just glad I don't. Makes things ahelluva lot easier. Sorry, rant over. Hit a sore spot there.

And after the mashed spud episode DD was enjoying the freedom of not wearing a nappy (prompted by LilKel, decided to crack potty training) and she was wondering around with her dress over her head. We went to the loo together, she jumped up before me, starts messing around saying "I'm a monster" next thing I know, I'm pulling my knickers up to her thumping nose first down the stairs. Smothered her head in arnica cream, she looks like she's gone 10 rounds with her brothers and has a lovely bruised, dried bloody nose.

Not a good day in Foxy's house!

Sorry about the long post, have vented and feeling a bit more normal.

foxybrown · 31/03/2007 19:47

hope noone thinks I'm critising WOHMs, I'm not at all, its the systems that make life so hard for working mothers which riles me.

foxybrown · 31/03/2007 19:55

OHMIGOD!!!!!! NOTHING ELSE MATTERS IN THE WORLD!! WHO'S SIGNING UP?!

I need to know more! How much does it cost after the initial £9.95? Do we have to sign up for a year? I might call them on monday. Or I might just get that introductory pack. I'M SO EXCITED!

Chocolate gives bf babies wind! Oh the dilemma!

derlor · 31/03/2007 19:55

foxy you should ba a politician1 i love your description of a 'having it all woman' . i agree with you wholeheartedly and realise how lucky I am to have a job share job which is just that i NEVER do more than 2.5 days work during my 2.5 days at work - oh no not me!!!! (maybe i'm just lazy) but that' what i'm paid for so that is what i do!! my rant over - back to my drifter...

Daisybump · 31/03/2007 20:15

hi again...you are having a time of it foxy....hopefully they'll all be in bed now and you can have that wee glass of wine to unwind.
Just back for the cinema with my boys...saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whihc I must admit...was really good. and that I liked it. It has quite a dark story line, but was ultimately quite gripping. Then stopped for chicken and chips on the way home. Lovely lovely afternoon and DH and I had a bit of a cuddle in the dark in the cinema which was great until DS realised he could lift the arm of the seats up and wriggled in between us .

Still didn't get all my work finished, but nearly there. I've brought the file home to sort it out tonight during (oh my god....casualty/CSI clash) and will drop it off tomorrow before getting the train up to Scotland at 11:00. I'll give myself till 10 tonight and if its not done, then the boss will have to sort it out on Monday. As I've handed in my mobile and will be in Scotland/Lincolnshire for a week and a half...they can't contact me . Feel much better about things, leaving a clean and tidy desk and filing away all my crap....strangely cathartic.

Know what you mean about the system Foxy....my job involves a lot of meetings and site visits and being on call for builders and I can't think how it would be possible to do it part time. We do have one (male) engineer who only does 4 days though so the precedent has been set and they would be hard pushed to deny me that same priveledge (sp?) Don't know what they'd think about three days though. still....not worrying about it for several months anyway....thinking I'll be able to take a full year which will be great. Took 2 years off after DS and loved the SAHM thing, but I needed to get back after that as I was going a bit stir crazy. I initially went to work 30 hours which was great, but when I married DH and moved to Leeds went back full time.....biggest mistake really as things haven't been right since then.

Phew another mammoth post from me....and yes I do talk this much in RL

Where in Scotland are you Derlor? I miss it soooo much. Leeds is great and for a big city has lots of green open spaces and great shops, but it's just not the same...the chippies only sell fish or sausage...no smoked sausage or black pudding or haggis....and definately no deep fried pizza or mars bars!!! Mind you I'll probably live longer for having moved here.

Holly, hope your SCs aren't depressing you too much...when do they go home? Why not get the weeing one some pyjama pants....they go up to age 11. Mind you, it's not likely to win you any favours ith him is it?

Daisybump · 31/03/2007 20:18

I used to be member of that chocolate club...the chocs are absolutely to die for, but I has to give it up when I was diagnosed coeliac as they couldn't guarantee they'd be gluten free Wish I could join again, but definately go for it. There's something really nice about coming home to a box of luxury chocs all ready and waiting on the mat...

Daisybump · 31/03/2007 20:22

After the inital offer it goes up to about £15 a month...but still so so worth it IMO...savour some for me please . They do this cherry thing that is absolutely to die for and the chocolate covered brandy soaked giant raisins are out of this world.....oops better get a tissue as I've just drooled over the keyboard.

Chomped my way through a LARGE popcorn at the cinema I'm to say. DS meant to be helping, but he's only little and gets bored of it quickly. will have to spend the rest of the evening picking bits out of my teeth....nice

Daisybump · 31/03/2007 20:24

Someone talk to me please....or I'm going to flounce off in a hormone induced huff and not come back till after easter....well that and I'll be out of range of a pc for most of it and I've really got to sort out that file!!

derlor · 31/03/2007 20:26

Daisy, thanks for choc info - dh has a season ticket for football which he pays about £500 a year for so this can be MY season ticket can't wait....
i live in South Lanarkshire, where are you originally from? where are you visiting when you are here?

OP posts:
Daisybump · 31/03/2007 20:27

gotta pack as well, but DH said he'd take are of that for me...yay, I'll have mismatched knickers and probably only my pre PG bras to look forward to and DS will be wearing odd socks, but bless him he's only trying to help
