Congratulations on your baby boy @GingerHanna! Sorry to hear about your fibroid, I hope it won't turn out to be anything scary

Zampa · 08/06/2017 21:52

Welcome Lucy!

Bubba I felt like I've been punched right on my pubic bone. A short, sharp pain.

MrsJB1987 · 08/06/2017 22:08

@Teachervoice I'm the same - good old teacher holidays and I'm in Northern Ireland so we get 8 weeks summer hols! I'll b off from 19-28 weeks 🤗🤗

lydiangel83 · 08/06/2017 22:25

Congrats @GingerHanna and fingers crossed fibroid is manageable. I think I felt first kicks tonight :)

Teachervoice · 08/06/2017 22:26

@MrsJB1987 oh, isn't it lovely! I'm off on a residential trip before the end of term though - camping as well. Can't say I'm looking forward to that very much!

Teachervoice · 08/06/2017 22:27

@lydiangel83 how far along are you now because I think I did too! Like a proper kick, rather than the swirly, squirmy feelings I've been having for the last few days.

lydiangel83 · 08/06/2017 22:47

@Teachervoice 19+1 today :-)!

GingerHanna · 09/06/2017 06:20

Thanks ladies. Feeling a bit freaked out about the fibroid. Mainly because it wasn't seen before and is suddenly so big.

Will call midwife in a few hours but can do feel my home birth slipping away. Less worried about that than preterm birth, especially if it continues to grow and gets in the way.

Fuckity. Shouldn't worry I know as I am in the best of hands but really, fuckity.

Congratulations on your news of a boy gingerhanna. Hope all is OK with the fibroid.

Biginjapan I had mine done with baby bond too. The inconclusive result completely freaked me out (I was googling too!) but when I went for the redraw they were really calm about it and said they do thousands of tests and so they do see plenty of inconclusive results. Still waiting for results of the second draw. My first test was the vision but they did the harmony second time around... Which did they do for you?

butterybollocks · 09/06/2017 07:06

Oh - should have said, midwife wasn't worried about the inconclusive result beyond understanding how stressful it is.

MrsJB1987 · 09/06/2017 07:10

@Teachervoice oh I don't envy you one bit on the camping residential! The principal went on the residential this year because her daughter (with a medical problem) was on it so it worked out well!! My problem is I have only 3 full weeks of school left with so much to do and very little (not enough time!!) to do all I need to. That with increasingly growing bump I can feel the craziness already! HmmHmm

biginjapan · 09/06/2017 07:29

Thanks @butterybollocks. From my anecdotal research it seems that loads more people than cited get inconclusive results. I have had harmony and will get that again, but it seems only 50% get a conclusive result with a redraw. What will you do if you get another inconclusive? I have missed the nt window Sad.

butterybollocks · 09/06/2017 09:10

We missed nt as well - baby wasn't behaving at the scan and was then dated at 14 weeks.

If inconclusive again, we may ask them to try once more. And/or will request the quad test on the NHS which is offered up to 20 weeks. I'm 17+4 now so starting to reach the point where we'll have the 20 week scan soon which would identify Edwards or pataus, and as for downs...We're thinking we'd just have to accept we might not know.

It's very stressful though, and is really stopping us from enjoying this pregnancy. I still haven't told many people and am holding off making plans etc. Horrible Sad

I think you're right Re more inconclusives than the research showed.

biginjapan · 09/06/2017 09:21

@butterybollocks if it is any reassurance I think that downs has an excess of fetal DNA rather than the other way around. I wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure we will both be fine. It's just a bit Sad that something that was supposed to bring us reassurance and comfort has done the opposite. My understanding of the warnings about increased risk is that it all comes from one 2015 study.

lydiangel83 · 09/06/2017 10:11

Sorry to hear about all the uncertainties ladies :(

DH joked that he should get a Father's Day card from baby (this is our first) but not sure whether I feel a bit weird about it. Anyone else planning to do anything?!

I'm 20 wks next week and I did point out that I didn't get anything for Mother's Day but we agreed that given I was only 4 wks then it was a little premature

Zampa · 09/06/2017 10:28

Lydia It's personal choice but we waited until baby arrived to celebrate Mother's/Father's Day.

butterybollocks · 09/06/2017 11:29

Just got my nipt results back - all clear which is such a massive relied. And it's a boy!Grin

Biginjapan hope you get results soon, the wait is awful. All I can say is it feels worth it now for the level of reassurance.

Hazandduck · 09/06/2017 11:31

Lydia it is my OH's birthday on Monday and I saw loads of cards in Card Factory (classy) addressed to 'Daddy love Bump.' I felt a bit weird buying it because we've not had our 20 week scan yet. This is our first too. I can't wait to celebrate those days though, I just think I will personally wait until baby is here. I have bought him a Daddy survival kit for his birthday though lol.

I am really sorry for the ladies going through further tests and uncertainties. I hope you get some answers soon, must be incredibly difficult xx

biginjapan · 09/06/2017 11:33

Thanks all for letting me join briefly - @butterybollocks I am so delighted for you and the good news is that my second vial came back low risk too - what a coincidence - we must have heard at the same time. Good luck to all the November babies - I'll go back to December now with a lighter heart for both of us!

Topsyloulou · 09/06/2017 12:57

Good news on the results Buttery. You can breathe a bit easier now.

When I was pregnant with DS I got DP a fatherhood survival book his birthday but it was from me rather than DS even though we well past 20 week scan stage. One of my friends wrote love bump in all their Christmas cards one year, baby wasn't due until April. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. DP will be getting a card & present from DS but that's it. It's his birthday 3 days later so he'll get more presents then.

Hazandduck · 09/06/2017 13:27

I must have cross posted! Excellent news on the results buttery and big :) Come back any time big haha x

DuRezidal · 09/06/2017 17:14

I posted this on the old thread, so thought I would pop it here too...

Just a little update as I have been missing for a while.

I am now 17 weeks pregnant and all was going well until Thursday afternoon when I fell in the field, resulting in a dislocated ankle which was also fractured in two places and an open fracture to my fibia!

I had emergency surgery on the ankle and leg on Sunday evening and was finally allowed home last night.

I am currently in morphine and hoping to reduce this after the initial two week period if all goes well.

I will be 18 weeks tomorrow, no bump at all but probably doesn't help that I've lost so much weight over the past week and a bit being in hospital.

tmc14 · 09/06/2017 18:08

Rez - so sorry to hear this, hope you are ok and looking after yourself. Is there a way to take it a bit easier or is your job not allowing of that?
I don't have much of a bump either (17 weeks today), I just look like I've had a big meal.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and no more injuries! xx Flowers

GingerHanna · 09/06/2017 18:36

So, good meeting with the midwife today. She got the hospital doctor/specialist on the phone whilst I was there so we could talk through what was going on.

In summary, everyone is a bit shocked that the myoma has appeared from nowhere and is so big suddenly. There is no risk to the baby but I will need further investigation and monitoring.

For now, plan is to have the 20 week scan with the midwife as normal on the 5 July and see how much it has grown. Then I will go to the hospital at around 24 weeks for another scan to see again how much it has grown and ascertain if it is inside my uterus or not. This is key. When we have that clear, which should be at the appointment with the hospital, they will talk me through my options for delivery. If it is outside then I should be able to have home birth still. If it is inside then I will need a hospital birth as I am likely to experience a lot of bleeding that they will have to manage.

There is no mentionable risk of pre-term labour, or changes that can be made in my diet to help. The myoma is fluid filled so baby will shove it out of the way. So whilst baby is fine I am likely to experience quite a bit of pain as baby and myoma get bigger. They were expecting me to already have some discomfort but so far so good.

So, all good until we know otherwise.

Oh no DuRez! Hope you're feeling a little better soon, I guess at least if you're on box rest you're going to have no choice but to take it easy. Is summer usually a busy time for you horse-wise?

Gingerhanna must be reassuring to have a plan. Hope all continues smoothly and you don't end up in pain.
