I've been getting BHs for a couple of weeks. Feels sort of crampy! I didn't notice them at all in my first pregnancy but got them regularly from about 24 weeks last time.

I bought new bras at about 10 weeks which are still serving me well. I suspect part of that is how much weight I've lost. I've got a very noticeable bump now but have only actually gained about 5oz. I can almost count my ribs. The sonographer said DD is a little on the small side for this stage but given that previous babies were 7lb & neither DH or I are particularly large, she wasn't overly concerned. I had growth scans with both DSs but I don't recall anyone commenting at this stage. Just another thing that's probably perfectly normal for me to obsess about!

I'm getting lots of kicks low down too. Occasionally I'll get one unexpectedly high up which I can only assume is her kicking my internal organs & pushing them into my ribs because there's no way my uterus is all the way up there yet!

Has anyone chosen a name yet? We have really different tastes & can't agree on anything!

Good luck Stuckinny!

Great tip about the bra extenders. Found some very affordable ones on Amazon. Pack of 36. If anyone wants a couple, DM me your address and I'll post them to you once they arrive.

Hi ladies, long time lurker but not a big poster Smile had my 20 week scan yesterday, all good. Baby measuring a little bigger now..10 days or so but not certain if they'll change my date. Had been worried as I haven't felt much movement (I'm either 21 or almost 23 weeks depending) but apparently I have an anterior placenta. Does anyone else have experience of this?

Zampa · 07/07/2017 21:19

I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy and I have a posterior placenta this time. The difference in the movements I can feel is astonishing.

My first pregnancy was quite daunting and I ended up in triage a few times, concerned about movements. I can feel this one far more often.

Also, our babies are currently quite small and they're not always strong enough to make themselves noticed. My little one was a fidget monster during her scan today but I could feel very little.

diggyloo · 07/07/2017 21:25

The lady doing my scan described mine as a nightmare as it wouldn't stay still long enough to do any measurements but I couldn't feel a thing. Grin

Topsyloulou · 07/07/2017 22:14

This is my second pregnancy with an anterior placenta. I'm feeling lots of movement although it's all either at the top or bottom of my bump, very little in the middle. Can't imagine how much more you must feel if the placenta is posterior. Baby wakes up about lunch time and then is pretty active all the way up until bed time. Definite kicks now rather than the flutters previously. I find it so reassuring feeling her moving around. DS had hiccups daily when I was pregnant with him but nothing so far this time. That is a very strange sensation.

No joy on names here either AGnu. I have one that I've had for ages. DP hasn't said no but hasn't said yes either. Sadly his grandma died suddenly at the weekend. She was a very important part of his life as his DM died when he was young & his DF now lives overseas so we're hoping to incorporate her name in some way as well as his DM's. Hopefully we won't leave it as late to decide this time, we decided DS name the morning I was induced!

theotherendofthesockportal · 07/07/2017 22:21

I have an embarrassing pregnancy problem. The tops of my things have rubbed together, I have friction burn! It hurts! I also have no savlon or sudacream so I have put some bodyshop hand cream on it for now.

I have an anterior placenta and can feel movements at the bottom and on the sides at the bottom.

Hazandduck · 07/07/2017 23:55

My movements can be really low down sometimes, like I'm being kicked in the groin!! It's very odd. I haven't got the birth dread, I've always wanted to know how it feels and quite look forward to it. Remind me of this in November please when I'm freaking out lol! X

butterybollocks · 08/07/2017 06:52

We are really struggling for names! Finding one for a girl would have been pretty easy but boy names are hard! DD has an unusual name so it makes it even harder to find something to go with it.

izzibee29 · 08/07/2017 12:07

Does anyone watch rugby and been keeping track of the Lions Tour? What a game this morning. Can't wait for little one to experience the excitement of live sport down the line.

Hazandduck · 08/07/2017 14:14

Ah @buttery I agree boy names are trickier than girl names. I can think of so many girl names I love, but have 3 boy names I would actually use that OH loves too.

lydiangel83 · 08/07/2017 16:20

@Hazandduck I'm jealous of your 3 boys names, we only have 1 so far that are both semi-ok with!

Motherhippy16 · 08/07/2017 18:21

Hi all. Dh is away this weekend so am feeling a little sorry for myself and definitely missing the support when I have my silly emotional moments! We have a couple of names that we both like but I have so many girls names I like but not a lot of boys names. I love nature and forest names and dh is more traditional.going to have to trust that we will know when baby is born.
Have been having some flutters but I'm not certain yet so still being cautious. Boobs are beyond huge and ache which makes me feel a bit rubbish and having lots of tummy stretches and aches so generally feeling like I never want to get up from my sofa!
@topsyloulou sorry for your loss.

Much love to all..... x

butterybollocks · 09/07/2017 17:17

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend? I'm finally feeling 'normal' again after a horrible virus but my DH has caught it now so I'm tired from doing everything at home! Managed an hour at our allotment which was nice, and finally made it to the Jojo sale!

Hope everyone is well and not too hot. I've been getting hot flushes in the night and waking up dripping in sweat, yuk.

Amd724 · 09/07/2017 17:54

Hope everyone is well, indeed. I've been unable to sleep in the heat. And my nursing bra, that I've had to wear since 10 weeks because my boobs are fucking ridiculously large expanding quickly, just broke under the pressure. I'm only 23 weeks, and I now need to go buy an even bigger size for the girls. Angry

On another note, has anyone else been told not to sleep on their right side as well as their back? I've been getting conflicting advice from my midwife and the NHS about which side I should be sleeping on. I've been trying to sleep on my left side almost exclusively but I get leg cramps and pelvic problems.

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/07/2017 18:06

@Amd724 I've been told to sleep on the left hand side. Apparently the right side can pressure on an important artery. I'm not sure why they tell you not to lie on your back.

Annoyingly for me my natural comfortable sleep position is the right hand side. I spend all night moving back over to the left, as I get woken up by my restless legs and I always find myself in a forbidden position

tmc14 · 09/07/2017 18:37

Evening,
I've obsessively been reading about the sleep thing, since I try and start on my left side but wake up on my back. I got really worried. It seems that yes, sleeping on your back can restrict blood flow, but it would cause you pain well before baby so you'd wake up/move anyway. It would be like sleeping through cramp/pins and needles or something. So I'm trying to be on my side but not stressing about it.

Topsyloulou · 09/07/2017 18:38

The advice now is sleep however you can. Your body will naturally cause you to move if you're putting too much pressure on the artery. I'm a very restless sleeper and switch between left, back & right throughout the night. I tried doing left side when I was pregnant with DS & it's so unnatural for me to lie in one position so long I just wasn't sleeping. The dream genie pregnancy pillow will help you stay on your left as it has cushioning behind your back to help you stay on your side. It lasted one night in my bed & then put it away as I just need to move to sleep.

DuRezidal · 09/07/2017 18:54

I don't think I ever tried sleeping in a certain position with my last pregnancy, I have not heard about that before.

Motherhippy16 · 09/07/2017 19:08

I've been told not to sleep on my back but not about not sleeping on my right which is most comfortable for me right now. I have a joint problem in my left hip and it's really painful if I stay on it for too long. Will ask the sonographer on Thursday at my 20 week scan. Surely my body would tell me if there was anything wrong?
On a different note dh has come back from a weekend away and has brought back chocolate cake (which I can't eat because of dairy) so I've had to make a chocolate cake.... honestly.... the baby asked for it! Cake Cake Cake

lydiangel83 · 09/07/2017 19:17

I've slept really poorly most of this pregnancy and I generally sleep badly anyway, spend most of my time looking knackered and complaining about being knackered! Luckily I do have a tendency to curl up on my left so that's one thing at least!

DuRezidal · 09/07/2017 19:37

I always sleep on my back, especially now with my leg! I honestly have never heard of not sleeping on your back when pregnant, oh well, there's not much I can do at the moment because with the cast I have no other option at the moment.

lydiangel83 · 09/07/2017 19:49

I've heard it but agree with PP that if you were harming your body / baby thru your sleep position then you'd wake up!

izzibee29 · 09/07/2017 19:58

I miss being able to sleep on my front more than anything

Hazandduck · 09/07/2017 20:35

Oh me too @izzi! I have always been a front sleeper, it is very odd not being able to.

I am worried about my bump, it is bloody huge!! Everyone keeps commenting on how big I am 😑 I've gained about 10lbs already! It is mainly my tummy, it is just so big and round I look so far gone people keep asking if I have the dates wrong...does anyone else feel like a prize pig with the constant speculating on your body and size?? I find it very odd. One woman said I was becoming a right fatty on Friday at work! It's hard to keep smiling, even though I am so happy to be growing my baby and it is amazing, the physical change is just such a shock to me.
