Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Tentatively joining with a faint positive one day before period due.

Already have one DS aged 3. Mumsnet and a subsequent fbook group proved to save my sanity many a time last time.

So waving 🙋 to you all!

pretzelpieces · 02/06/2017 12:03

Thanks everyone. Pickled, you're right, just got to take things as they come. Good advice.

Welcome to the bfps and congratulations everyone.

My partner has taken DD to a playdate with his colleagues and I am laying about on the sofa instead of cleaning the bathroom and taking a shower. Grin What is everyone else up to today? I've got a hen party tomorrow and wondering how obvious it will be that I'm not drinking.

Hi to all the new joiners!
Getting a nice group of us now!

Is anyone else feeling really tired?
Not sure if it's because I'm on holiday so being more active than normal and not sleeping as well as in my own bed, or if it's the pregnancy?
I've totally forgotten what happened when with DS and DD. I'm only 4+5.

No nausea yet (thank god!) but definitely sore boobs!

Just been kayaking with DS in a creek/river....great fun but now feeling very sleepy!

BecauseOfTheRain · 02/06/2017 14:52

Hello everyone! I'm 35, this is my first pregnancy and Edd is 2nd Feb.
My booking in appt is on 21st June and it doesn't feel real so am still poas every couple of days. Have far less symptoms than my previous months of symptom spotting ! I had a serious wobble when a FRER test showed one very dark line and one line lighter than the week before- but after some frantic googling I realised that the control line was very pale because the test line had 'used up' so much of the dye. Shock I had no idea this was a possibility! Good luck to you all, hope you are less anxious and impatient than me!

Blissfulignorance · 02/06/2017 16:00

Pidgy I'm exhausted today! I've had to come to bed for a lie down.
I also need to clean the house pretzel but watching come dine with and snoozing are far more interesting.

So went to the gp today, who will refer me to the midwife. He said that I should be cautious because it's my first pregnancy and that doesn't always end well. Thank you gp for making an already terrified patient even more downhearted.

I'm crotch watching more now than I ever have before!

Toomanydogs · 02/06/2017 17:03

Didn't feel quite real yesterday, but today I'm feeling sick and am currently sitting here crying after watching Annie so think hormones might be taking it up a notch!

Pidgythe2nd · 02/06/2017 18:58

What a horrible doctor Blissful!
I didn't think a first pregnancy made the risk of miscarriage any higher?!

I think we're all aware of the risks of a pregnancy ending, but there needs to be a balance, especially from a medical professional. What I've been trying to tell myself is that for most women, most pregnancies will be successful. Every person alive is the result of a successful pregnancy!
Sadly, there will always be some women that for whatever reason they will have continued problems, and unfortunately it's likely there will be some losses on this thread, but if you look at the statistics, this will be the minority in both cases.

This really isn't meant to minimise any feelings of anxiety, especially for those of us that may have had previous losses, but for me anyway, I'm trying to think logically (and try to enjoy what is hopefully my last ever pregnancy). It's a physically taxing time, but also mentally taxing, and sorry to say, but only the start of the worrying! Just wait until they are born!! Confused

Toomanydogs · 02/06/2017 20:13

That is awful of your doctor! I'm trying to let myself be a little bit excited (although obviously still cautious at the moment)- stressing and worrying about it won't help it either way. I think as long as you make sure you're aware of the risks you might as well let yourself be happy and just see how it goes!

VocalCat · 02/06/2017 20:16

I am trying to have a relaxing evening but two little children have other ideas! If only they didn't tag team me! Must admit I am worried about whether having a third will be really stressful, even though this is a planned pregnancy. I need to make an appointment to see the midwife soon, as I think I need to see her by or at eight weeks and there might be a wait to get an appointment - due to where I live, it is one midwife clinic one afternoon each week.

Hope everyone is having a good evening and enjoys the weekend.

VocalCat · 02/06/2017 20:20

I've never heard that about a first pregnancy either Blissful and I know a huge number of women who have had smooth fort pregnancies and lovely babies at the end. Equally, I have known many who have miscarried their second or subsequent baby.

My earlier groups saved my sanity as well limomo so I know what you mean.

pickledprogress · 02/06/2017 20:40

vocalcat my first pregnancy ended in mc - started a few hours after seeing the dr - who never mentioned it. Subsequently found out 1/4 pregnancies end that way but many women don't realise when they are so early. Horrid of the dr to say but maybe a tactless way of saying it does happen - not on first pregnancies - but in general? I wish I'd been told about it before hand really...

Am exhausted today - mini me has been off sick and very clingy - it's so hot and she's insisted on being on me whilst having a temp hasn't been great Confused

Blissfulignorance · 02/06/2017 20:49

Thanks ladies, I was aware of the risk and statistics. I was just taken aback by it really. I told him it was planned and very much wanted but he was more concerned with scaring me and telling me not to eat soft cheese.

In other news I went to see mum today she doesn't know, I'd like to wait another few weeks before breaking the news. Anyway there we were in a cafe and I'm trying to pick some pregnancy friendly panini, she's wondering why I'm taking so long to pick and I'm wondering why all of them have soft cheese in! Here I was worrying about how to lie about drinking. Didn't know lunch was a mine field.

SofiePendragon · 02/06/2017 21:01

I've got an appointment to see my GP tomorrow - my surgery said I had to see them. I didn't get my bfp until 6-7 weeks after my lmp so not really sure on my dates, but I guess if they want me to see a midwife around 8 weeks after lmp I'll have to get a move on.

Have anyone found a good pregnancy app? There wasn't much around when I had my first, but I quite like knowing what's going on week by week Smile

SofiePendragon · 02/06/2017 21:04

blissful all cooked cheese is ok in pregnancy btw

Pidgythe2nd · 02/06/2017 21:07

Vocal, I'm slightly concerned too by having a DC3 and what I'm letting myself into. Hmm DD (DC2) was a difficult baby and a bad sleeper, and things are just starting to get easier (she's 3.5 now so about time!).
I'm not getting any younger though, and always think of myself as having 3. Plus, just love those snugly newborn cuddles (just not the sleepless nights!). I even like the birth!

Rockaby · 02/06/2017 21:12

Sofie, I have the what to expect app. It's free and quite good. I like it anyway.

Rockaby · 02/06/2017 21:16

I also now have my booking in appointment. It is on 26th June when I will be nearly 9 weeks.

I've also booked a private reassurance scan for 8.5 weeks, but now I'm having second thoughts. I have a little while before I need to cancel without losing my deposit, so will think it over some more.

Blissfulignorance · 02/06/2017 21:25

Sofia I used the ovia app to track my periods and I really like the pregnancy one. It's also free.

Am I the only one who doesn't have an early scan booked?? Wouldn't know where to go?

Blissfulignorance · 02/06/2017 21:27

Also to those who've been Keith cheggers before could you let me know if you had cramps at 4+ weeks and if so when do they fade away? It's torture.

SofiePendragon · 02/06/2017 21:32

Thanks rockaby - will check it out

I don't think I'm going to go for a reassurance scan, unless I yet some signs that something might be wrong (bleeding or something). I don't think I'd find it that reassuring - the day after I'd be back to thinking that something could have happened and I might not know, so I think in my case it would be a waste of money.

SofiePendragon · 02/06/2017 21:37

Sorry blissful Cross posted!

Will look at ovia as well.

I think cramps turned into nausea for me around 6-8 weeks last time, but I can't really remember. Nausea eased off around 12-14 weeks. Everyone's different though

Rockaby · 02/06/2017 21:42

Yeah, I'm not sure about having an early scan. I probably wouldn't actually be all that reassured by it either. I will keep thinking about it and see how I feel closer to the time.

Firsttimeandclueless · 02/06/2017 22:18

I haven't booked my booking appointment yet either blissful Will do so next week. Partly too anxious yet.

Good to see everyone is progressing well! Fingers crossed we're all in a awful but happy morning sickness stage soon.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 03/06/2017 00:00

Blissful that's awful of your dr to say! When I saw mine (also first pregnancy) she said that at 27 and healthy she had no worries and to book myself in with the midwife.

Blissfulignorance · 03/06/2017 08:20

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who thought he was a bit brash.

Have any of you ladies told family and friends yet?

I need to tell work sooner rather than later as I will need a risk assessment. But I wanted my mum to be the first to know aside from DH. However I'm still so terrified I'll get a bleed that I wanted to wait a few more weeks. Shame time seems to be passing so slowly!!
