Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

I've told my mum (and dad) and sister. I'd want them to know even if something went wrong. This means DP wants to tell his family tomorrow though. Bah.

I'm not sure about an early scan. I talked to DP about it today and he thinks no but ultimately it's up to me. They are so expensive here (over £100) and I'd have to travel a long way to get it cheaper. So the price is putting me off given that it doesn't actually change the outcome. Will decide nearer the time.

Hello v tentatively joining! Got bfp last Sunday for dc 3 ! Although this is actually my 6th pregnancy - have dd 9 then an early miscarriage then ds who has just turned 8 and in last year have had 2 missed miscarriages - 1 at 8 weeks in October and 1 at 12 weeks at end of march :-(
Conceived this pregnancy first month of trying after mmc and edd is 8th Feb ! Feeling v v happy but so so very anxious too. We have our midwife appt on Thursday this week when will be 5+2 and will talk about early scans then. I know we will be offered them due to mmc history but not sure if I want them as do not find them v reassuring really! Both mmc we say heart beat and then went on to miscarry - will see how we feel but defo don't want anything till at least 8 weeks if we are lucky enough to get that far!!!!
Right now have found the mantra 'today I am pregnant' from the pregnancy after miscarriage thread to be v useful! So that is where I am at!!!
Really lovely to 'meetyou all! Here's to v sticky beans and uneventful boring pregnancies for us all!!!!

Sanchezwasntdirty · 03/06/2017 12:45

Blissful I've told my DM and stepdad and my DP's DM but that's it so far. I'm going to tell my DF next week when I see him. I've not told work yet but I do need to soon. I'm a bit apprehensive as once my boss knows the rest of the people I work with will as the risk assessment won't allow me to do my job. I've discussed with DP and I'm waiting till after I've seen the midwife so I'll be around 8 weeks.

Pretzel I've thought about an early scan DP is really keen, I'm not fussed though.

MrsFrankTurner · 03/06/2017 15:11

Tentative terrified joiner here!

Bfps Thursday but did proper clear blue today & there's no denying it even though not officially due for AF until Monday
Edd 12-2-2018 (our wedding anniversary)
I have 3 DSs already who are older (11, 9 & 7), I'm 41 and a student midwife Confused
The timing is a shocker! Genuinely thought there was no chance (I know I know -I'm a StMw should know better!) but I have pcos and dh has had medication which we were told would make him sperm lose their motility.....clearly not all of them Shock
I am in a state of shock ATM -too scared to tell anyone except dh in case I mc but also scared of the judgement from people ......we are surrounded by friends who have similar age children to ours and we are starting again!
There are literally a million things in my head including that I won't graduate with everybody else, it's another year until I qualify, the financial impact .....
Sorry -pouring it all out on here as nobody in RL I can confide in at the mo but I can't say I am not thrilled because i always wanted another o just thought that door was firmly closed
Lovely lovely to read everybody else's posts too xx

tailspin · 03/06/2017 15:13

I've made a doctors appt for this monday morning & then I'll get referred to the midwife apparently.

The only symptoms I have are sore boobs, and restless legs! Also, a few twinges and cramps but not a lot. Always seems to be on the left side, why?

I think I'm 4 weeks and 6 days. We're considering telling our parents in 2 weeks when they're coming up. Early days but I guess I agree with the opinion that I'd rather they know no matter what happens!

pickledprogress · 03/06/2017 16:07

Hi Conker and mrs! Welcome and congrats!!

Conker I know where your coming from - tomorrow am 6 weeks and realised I am just waiting for the inevitable - as had 2 mc before my little one - they were before 6 weeks though. Everything crossed for you

Mrs - I do hope no one judges you - all little people are amazing Smile would the arrival really push you back a year??

Today is so hot I am glad we'll not be overly preggo over the summer - winter bumps are more bareable!!

emwithme · 03/06/2017 17:03

I've told my three closest friends, and my two (female) colleagues guessed when I opted for decaf on Tuesday. That's it so far. The in laws/my family will be told once we've had a successful reassurance scan, and the rest of the world will find out when they find out.

I am about to sort my knicker drawer into "easy to knicker check in" and "hard to knicker check in" piles so I can just wear the easy ones because, seriously, I seem to spend 90% of my day checking my gusset. I started bleeding last time at 7+1 so I've got a couple of weeks until I'm the most pregnant I've ever been, but I'm so bloody worried something is wrong with this bean as well. I wish I was a Teletubby so I could just tune into Tubby Tummy TV and see all was well Grin

Toomanydogs · 03/06/2017 17:20

Other than DP I've only told DM so far- I'd want her support either way. Might tell my closest couple of friends next week depends how I'm feeling about it all!

Thekissbyklimt13 · 03/06/2017 17:55

I haven't told anyone yet, apart from the people on this thread! I'm scared to tell DP in case he tells his mum, who will broadcast it. I will have to tell my closest colleague at work soon too which I'm worrying about. It may be hard for me to get maternity cover as I'm the only person in my role in my workplace, so the earlier it's organised, the better. If we don't get cover, I could technically be in breach of my contract, and lose it, which would be a financial disaster for us.

Thekissbyklimt13 · 03/06/2017 17:57

Also, my colleague (manager but reports directly to me) has always "warned" me not to get pregnant as she would resign, as she feels she couldnt cope with me being off for 6 months or so. I hadn't really planned another child but it feels so unfair that I've basically been told to forget about having a baby for the sake of my job, which I already massively resent.

SofiePendragon · 03/06/2017 18:20

klimt that sounds awful. It surely can't be legal for you to lose your job due to being pregnant??!!

I haven't told anyone other than my DH yet. Will probably tell my Mum soon, but want to feel a little more sure of things first.

I went to my GP today - what a waste of time. First he said - you phoned the practice in February to say you were pregnant. No! I phoned in February to say I was miscarrying! Then he just went through how many times I've been pregnant before and told me to book an appointment with the midwife. I have no idea why I had to waste my time and his seeing him first!

Blissfulignorance · 03/06/2017 18:30

Welcome newbies

It seems gps are fecking useless all over.

Thekiss that work situation sounds awful. I work for the nhs, ultimately everyone will know about a week after I tell my manager.
Hoping they take it well as there are 3 other pregnant ladies!

Emw I'm with you on gusset watch! Although not sure what constitutes as easy knickers.

My boobs are a lot less sore today, this has made me panic that things are about to go wrong. Please tell me it's normal!

Thekissbyklimt13 · 03/06/2017 18:58

Thanks, I'm not sure where I stand as I'm technically self employed but have a contract to deliver a service, wanting to keep it vague but something like an NHS dentist who works alone.

Sounds like an awful service at your GP surgery Sofie.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 03/06/2017 19:19

Blissful symptoms changing is normal I think, my boobs are much less sore this week than last.

I work for the NHS as well I'm terrified of telling them as when I do most of the people I work with will know and I don't want to tempt fate.

Blissfulignorance · 03/06/2017 19:35

It's crap isn't it Sanchez, there are people who I work with that love a gossip. I like to keep things private and I'd hate for half the workforce to know before my family!!

Fingers crossed we all have sticky beans. I never thought in the month of TTC that I'd be so scared once it happened!

Toomanydogs · 03/06/2017 20:08

DP bought me one of my favourite 'treat' foods earlier, I just tried 3 bites and felt like I'm going to be sick, was really looking forward to that as well Cake

Sanchezwasntdirty · 03/06/2017 20:24

It sure is blissful! Unfortunately for me once I tell them I won't be allowed to do my actual job anymore so as soon as that happens everyone will know... I know it's for my own good but I'm hanging on until I've seen the midwife and probably the week after, I start my annual leave then so I'll tell them during that and I'll be nearly 12 weeks by that point anyway

Blissfulignorance · 03/06/2017 20:50

I be got annual leave soon too! I'd be just over 7 weeks when I go back so hoping to tell them then. Providing I get that far! 🤞🏻

Blissfulignorance · 03/06/2017 20:50

No idea what I meant there.... I've got annual leave!

llamabeans · 03/06/2017 21:13

Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay and feeling good!

Booked my first appointment with a midwife for the 30th - feels like ages away. Thinking we will tell our families that weekend as well. I feel a bit uneasy about telling my sister as she is expecting baby 2 in August and I don't want to come across as trying to steal her thunder! Am I just being daft?

Sanchezwasntdirty · 03/06/2017 21:21

Yep fingers definitely crossed blissful!
*
Llama* I bet they'll be thrilled... if your sisters bothered then that's her problem x

emwithme · 03/06/2017 21:26

Blissful easy knickers have a non-black gusset! Very easy to check colour...no need to poke.

SofiePendragon · 03/06/2017 21:33

Llama Obviously you know her, but I would have thought your sister will be delighted for you. It's not like she's ttc and struggling (which could make things awkward).

I'm also crotch watching a lot. Keep swinging between being excited and being scared it won't work out.

pretzelpieces · 03/06/2017 23:45

conker I'm so sorry for your losses. Keeping everything crossed that this time will go smoothly for you.

mrsfrank wow! Can understand that will take a while to sink in. Glad it is a nice surprise though.

em Grin Tubby Tummy TV would be very useful for pregnancy!

sofie that's definitely where I am. Swinging between excitement and fear. I'm quite irritable with DP too. 😕 I blame the hormones (and emotional roller-coaster).

MrsFrankTurner · 04/06/2017 05:23

Can't sleep so thought I'd pop in to see if anybody else awake? Dh came home at midnight & told me about London hope all you guys are ok? I am a Welsh girl living near mcr so was deeply effected by the attacks last week and had to try & explain to my 3 beautiful boys what had happened and how there are more good people than bad people and even though I believe that it is hard at times to keep hopeful
@pickledprogress thank you I am sure a lot of people will be very shocked as we believed our family was complete so am sure others did too! hopefully no judgement Smile
I have 2 options with uni -as it is 100% attendance spread equally between placement & uni I either try and just have 6 weeks off and make the placement time off at the end of my degree or I step off at the end of a semester (probably late January) and step back on a year later! We are not allowed to step off mid semester so it would be exams end of Jan....have a baby 2 weeks later WinkShock midwifery is a hard degree so consequently we are a tight cohort but not graduating with my girls is a small price to pay as this baby feels like a miracle Smile
Symptoms -no appetite AT ALL -I guessed something was up Thursday after an exam as AF was due so am usually ravenous but finished exam and felt sick.....blamed exam stress but took test that night as I felt so rough!
Thirsty beyond belief! If I wasn't pregnant I would think I was diabetic as I am drinking gallons and not really peeing but I can remember feeling like this with DS1!
I hope all our little beans are sticky too -off to revise for more exams Confused
