Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

@choochooo not that this will probably help you, as I know how easy it is for someone to share an experience and tell you not to worry, but with my DS I never ever had any symptoms. Absolutely nothing. I didn't even get a hint of a bump until 28 weeks and was starting to think I'd imagined the whole thing! I'd occasionally get a little queasy if I let myself get too hungry, but that came and went and I can sometimes feel like that even without being pg so certainly couldn't really count it as a symptom. Here for support and hand holding. X

emwithme · 18/06/2017 18:23

I am not coping well with the heat, and particularly yesterday just wanted to curl up in the fridge. I couldn't though as I was babysitting for my (adorable, 17 month old) nephew while his mum & dad went to see The Stone Roses. We both survived though (and that is the first time I have had sole charge of a small person for over 6 hours...it's kinda scary to think that in 7 months I will have one of my own - and even scarier to think that I am 40 and just experiencing this - the joys of being the youngest in the family!)

I am 6+6 today. Last time, I started bleeding at 7+2 so I'm getting very nervous about the next few days. Doesn't help that DH is away on a course so it's just me and the cats at home.

EmilyK83 · 18/06/2017 21:02

emwithme you have all of us here for support!

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm SO glad I'm at the v v early stages of pregnancy during this heat, and not ready to pop!

GingerRogers84 · 18/06/2017 22:31

I've got two things that are bothering me. Firstly I thought I would be ok with baths as long as they weren't too hot, but my friend told me I should avoid all baths to be safe. I've had a tonne of baths!

Secondly, I've not been changing the litter tray but I had to give the cat a bath because after the cattery she had a load of, ahem, Klingons! I'm now worried about that too.

Am I worrying about nothing or have I been a complete tool?

emwithme · 18/06/2017 22:57

Baths are fine. The reason you shouldn't have monkey-hot baths is because they may cause your blood pressure to go a bit wonky (and you a bit light-headed) but they won't do any "structural" damage.

You'll also probably be fine about the cat. The risk of toxoplasmosis is small (about the same level as "getting listeria from sandwich meat", I think). DH is also on cat tray duties, although ours generally do The Business outside.

Emwahs · 19/06/2017 07:39

Thanks @atthemoon let's hope they come back, I have a scan booked for Wednesday a private one but seeing as i had one a couple of weeks ago due to some pains I am not sure whether to go ahead with this one, I will almost be 8 weeks then, thing is I paid the deposit but I could also postpone it later into the pregnancy just another four weeks seems a long time away for my twelve week scan and seeing that I would also be almost 11 weeks when I have my booking in appointment I can't see me getting a scan date till at least 13 weeks. I also heard that too many scans can harm baby is that true?

The heat is killing me at 7 weeks asleep on couch by 9pm every night and then just a throw on the bed rather then a duvet. Us English are funny people we moan when it's cold and we moan when it's hot lol!

Xx

EmilyK83 · 19/06/2017 08:09

I'm using the risk of toxoplasmosis to get out of cat litter tray duties for the next 35 weeks or so...result Wink

Just getting ready to head off to this group midwife appointment thing - intrigued to find out what it's all about, and wondering if it will start making things feel more real...because at the moment they don't...

Flamingoprincess1212 · 19/06/2017 08:14

Hello! I was on the January boards but I've just had my early scan that dates me a week later than i thought - I'm currently 7w4d with an EDD of February 1st!

Toomanydogs · 19/06/2017 09:14

I'm taking full advantage of avoiding cat litter duties lol!
How is everybody feeling symptom wise? I had a few days of feeling almost normal but now back to feeling like I might be sick any second!

EmilyK83 · 19/06/2017 10:09

Hey Flamingo!

Ha, Toomany, a bit of bloating and constipation for me but apart from that, nothing much really. Kinda want more so it all feels more real....

Just had my pre-booking group appointment - basically got given loads of leaflets and info about screening, diet, alcohol/smoking, hospital options etc. Booking appointment isn't for another 4 weeks, feels like ages away!

Alicantine · 19/06/2017 10:21

Hi everyone, hope the week starts well :)

I'm not coping too well with heat either and I agree with @emwahs we keep moaning whether it is hot or cold!

Not many symptoms again for me unfortunately @lookatthemoon, @toomanydogs and @choochooo . Just tiredness and going constantly to the loo. Actually I'm not going to complain too much now cos I don't want the full sickness otherwise my school will find out and I really don't want to say anything to anyone just yet. I'm 6wks +3 today.

Someone a few pages ago asked after how many days the line on the pregnancy test got darker. I was surprised by that question because....I've only done the one test? I believe there can be no false positive right? Is it now common for people to test several times? I'm assuming it's for reassurance but still. TO be fair I did consider buying a second test when I went to buy my vitamins but I thought "what a waste of money"! and I didn't. I only ever tested once to be faire, even for my other pregnancies! I'm 38 and if this pregnancy would be for dc6 if it carries through, but you guys make me feel so old when I read how everything seems to have changed since I had my last! (she's 6 now)

@gingerrogers84 you're one of 9?! wow! Thanks for your comments. An age gap of 24 years with your youngest sister wow! So if I add the other story you shared with us she is already an auntie to your nephew right? Btw you totally have to tell me how your brother's girlfriend found out she was pregnant only at 5 months???! I mean...how??! This has always been my dream! Finding out you're nearly due not knowing you were pregnant! How cool must that be? Instead of the worries we're going through now!!

@emilyk83 please tell us how this booking appointment went, sounds exciting! Is it just for first time mums? Are they all due same as you?

@flamingoprincess1212 welcome :). Must be nice to have a more accurate date :) . Was the scan you did due to an issue or was it just an early private scan?

@emwahs I would delay the private scan for now but that's just me. Especially as you've had one recently and are due one on 12th week. I think one girl here said recently it's only if you were to do a massive amount of scans that it may have an impact though.

Hopeful everyone is doing ok :)

EmilyK83 · 19/06/2017 10:38

Hey Alicantine - was interesting! Lasted about 45 mins and there were 9 of us there - mostly first time mums but one on her 2nd. Ranged between me at the earliest to about 9 weeks: got a wee pot for the booking appointment, haha, then a talk about what would happen at our first few appointments, a questionnaire to fill out to take with us, details of both NHS and private screening, an introduction to the maternity notes (mine will be yellow, apparently!), details of birthing options at the two local hospitals... It was so detailed! Was good to get an idea of what to expect, but I felt like a fraud, haha - so many of the others complaining about the heat and nausea, while I was just sat there feeling ok but trying to hold a wee in...

Alicantine · 19/06/2017 10:53

@emilyk83 Thanks for the update. Seemed very interesting indeed! And you're not a fraud, you're just at an earlier stage than the rest of them! I think the concept of that meeting is good. Saves them repeating every single thing at your booking appointment I guess.

EmilyK83 · 19/06/2017 11:10

Alicantine, I don't know...I think it's the anxiety...been fine for years (after a horrible period where I was signed off work for 6 months) but now I've convinced myself that because I was still smoking before I found out, I must have done some kind of damage. Don't think I'll be any less anxious until the 12 week scan!

Loxy4527 · 19/06/2017 13:54

alicantine I tested several times from the day I missed my period with each of my previous three MCs, which each of them the line got darker for a few days, then fainter again until it was negative and I started bleeding. I was glad I did as it prepared me for it to end, two of them were at work. I'd have been terrified if I'd started bleeding and not known why. Now this one is further along I don't test very often, last one was three days ago. It gives me some small comfort so I can get on with enjoying the excitement. This time mine got really dark on CD 30, no idea when I ovulated though as we were meant to be having a break from TTC lol.

GingerRogers84 · 19/06/2017 14:47

I had to register with the doctor today in order to even book my first appointment. It was Hell. I mean the amount of information and proof they wanted was insane. I almost expected them to demand my bra size, my first born child and a goat sacrifice of some sort! 😂

@emwithme Thankyou for the reassurance! Bit of a worrier!

@Alicantine Yeah I'm the oldest of our lot. So much fun! My wedding was a hoot and I had soooo many bridesmaids! 😄
If you add on my three step sisters children (that makes us twelve!!!) I have nine nieces and nephews! 😆
Completely unsure of the details of my brothers girlfriends pregnancy as I've not really been interested in pregnancy or children until I wanted my own. (prob why I'm clueless! 🙄) But now is a good opportunity to grill her! I'll update you!

GingerRogers84 · 19/06/2017 14:48

Also forgot to say that I did like 8 tests! I couldn't believe it. My friend told me it took her two years to conceive her daughter so I presumed I'd be in for a bit of a wait. It happened after 4 months and I couldn't believe my luck.
Bit expensive though! ☺️

Toomanydogs · 19/06/2017 15:34

I only did two tests- second one a few days after the first to make sure I wasn't going crazy and it was real Grin

Flamingoprincess1212 · 19/06/2017 16:56

My scan was just because I was unsure of what was going on. It was nhs, I suffered from spotting and thought after tests I'd be struggling to conceive without help! X

DoTheFandango · 19/06/2017 17:38

Hi everyone,

7 weeks on Wednesday. Had a docs appointment today to be referred to the midwife who apparently will contact me in time to have a booking appointment at around 10 weeks. Feel excited that things are now moving but also nervous! Someone at work announced today they are 10 weeks pregnant, I thought about telling them I'm only 3 weeks behind but still scared of tempting fate and something going wrong!
Hope you all are managing in this heat- it's getting unbearable! Thank goodness we aren't all further along with big bumps!
One thing in the info pack the doc gave me advised to take vitamin d as well as folic acid- where are you getting your vit d from? I just got basic folic acid from ASDA but not sure about the vitamin D? There seem to be so many options!

Thanks :)

GingerRogers84 · 19/06/2017 17:53

@DoTheFandango
From when I was actively trying to conceive to this day I've been taking Superdrug's Folic acid with added vitamin D. It's about £2.99 and you get 60 in a pot.
I'll carry on taking it unless the midwife recommends something else.

KeepingItReal2017 · 19/06/2017 19:24

Hey ladies!

Thought I'd join this thread as my EDD is 10th Feb. Currently 6+2. Should I be worried by lack of nausea? Are you girls nauseous? I have swollen, sore boobs and dull ache in lower abdomen, sometimes backache - oh and extreme exhaustion! I'm having an early scan next week - the wait for 12wk scan is insane!

RainyDayBear · 19/06/2017 19:55

I did around five tests (and only stopped because I ran out!).

I think I'm 5+4 now, going by ovulation rather than LMP. Symptom wise I'm bloody shattered, my nipples hurt and my appetite is embarrassing! No nausea yet, for which I'm grateful though, but fully expect it around the 6/7 week mark. Last time I basically lived on fizzy sweets and ice pops for a month until it subsided!

Haven't been taking vitamin D, is that a new guideline? Pretty sure I just had folic acid when I was pregnant with DD.

Alicantine · 19/06/2017 20:10

@gingerrogers84 can't wait until you have more news from your brother's girlfriend and her epic pregnancy lol. As for your extended family just one word: wow.

@dothefandango you can buy vitamin d tablets at boots. You're in exact same case as me as in I had already bought my folic acid when I found out about the vitamin d recommendations. Then all I could find was folic acid *+" vitamin d which would obviously have meant a waste of the box I already had started. So I was quite happy ti see that Boots was selling vitamin d separate although obviously it means you need to take two sets of tablets instead of just one.

@emilyk83 I see what you mean about the anxiety. To be fair I don't think it ever fully goes away but yeah after 12weeks , if I reach that, I'll feel better I'm sure and you should too. Well, I hope.

@loxy4527 Thanks for taking the time to explain, and I'm sorry about your 3mcs. I can see where you're coming from and it's interesting how you say you're glad to have known beforehand because I actually think that for me it would have been the opposite! So it's really down to personal preference I guess. What I mean is I would have seen the extra testing as even more stress, the fading lines after being strong as being more heartache, and the negative test before any bleeding as even more puzzling. Are you sure you would have been "terrified" to see the bleeding without having made the tests? I would have thought"I've done a positive test, if I bleed there's a chance I'm miscarrying, let's just wait and see", (basically what I'm doing now) as opposed to testing every day and noticing the line go darker then lighter then gone, just before the bleeding. But again if that's a way which you find more easily manageable then I guess it's a different way of looking at things.

The way I see it I already believe I could lose this pregnancy at any time at the moment, and that there is very little I could do now to stop it from happening so I take each day as it comes, just grateful to not bleed...(although yeah more symptoms would be great but we can't have it all!).

Where's @lookatthemoon? Her symptoms were fading hope she's ok.

Good evening all!

Humpertydumpty · 19/06/2017 20:13

I'm a testaholic. Did 3 the weekend before last, all BFN. Another last weds, BFP. Then another that night to get the week indicator. Official IVF test Saturday morning. Another digital one Saturday to see if it had changed to 2-3 (it had). I have one digital left which I'm doing tomorrow and if it isn't 3+ I'll be buying more!
