Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

@emwahs : It's normal and it reduces over time. Seriously. Well I hope!
Welcome in any case. And congrats for your early scan that came up as fine, how reassuring!

lookatthemoon · 10/06/2017 23:01

I recently watched a documentary about how most vitamins are a waste of money as you end up wee-ing most if it out. folic acid and vitamin d (if you need it) were the exceptions to that.

I'm vegetarian so I do take a combined multivitamin and extra Vitamin D. Was found to be super deficient last pregnancy.

And yes I am on constant knicker watch. It's an emotional rollercoaster. These next few weeks are going to be sooo long.

RainyDayBear · 11/06/2017 06:10

I'm on pregnacare (as I had some leftover in the cupboard) but need to pick up my prescription folic acid tablets - if your BMI is over 30 they recommend a higher dose. My BMI is lower because I was on a diet (and doing really well) before my BFP, but as I'm so close to the threshold they've just given me them anyway.

Constant knicker watch here too, it's impossible to not worry. I'm starting to really want a private reassurance scan around 8 weeks again!

VocalCat · 11/06/2017 08:38

Last pregnancy my midwife told me to take folic acid and vitamin d, so that is what I am doing this time. I am intermittently taking iron as I was anemic recently but not everyday as I dislike the side effects.

MrsFrankTurner · 11/06/2017 09:28

Morning!
Thank you you lovely lot for your supportive messages much much appreciated Smile
Still none the wiser what is going on with my body! I've had what to me is a normal period (warning....tmi....brown discharge followed by 2 days of bleeding which has now stopped) no cramping or clots Confused
In January I thought I'd had a mc as I got AF at 28 days (it's usually 26) with awful cramping, clots, period lasted 7 days I felt awful. I remember saying that DH "if I didn't know better I'd think I was m/c"
I am very confused -however, going home tomorrow so going to ring epu for advice. My guess is it was a chemical pregnancy & never implanted but will see what happens.
Congrats to all you newbies Smilelovely news xx

Alicantine · 11/06/2017 09:59

@mrsfrankturner Sorry to read this. I hope epu will treat you as an emergency case tomorrow and that a scan will tell you exactly what's going on. Hand holding Flowers

emwithme · 11/06/2017 12:14

DH has shared his bloody cold with me. I have a really sore throat and a head that feels like it's been replaced with teddy bear stuffing. Normally, I nuke colds with many decongestants and all the lemsip type stuff I can manage. Now I'm stuck on lemon & honey, and paracetamol.

Yay me.

(Also still knicker checking like it's going out of fashion. 5+6 today. Just got to get 2 more weeks - and one day - and then we have our private scan).

cookingbabydunc · 11/06/2017 13:09

Hello,

I'm 5 and a half weeks. It's my first pregnancy. Trying to wait until I'm further along before I start telling people but it's already going incredibly slowly!!

Pleased to be part of a group so I can talk about it. My partner is excited but is still trying to process the news so doesn't want to hear me talk about it every minute of every day!

SofiePendragon · 11/06/2017 13:23

Hello to all the newbies!

Good luck for tomorrow frank I didn't pass any clots when I had a chemical earlier this year and was surprised at how light the bleeding was, but I hope you have a better outcome than I did. Have you done an hpt?

Has anyobe else on here had a c-section before? I've been getting pains along my scar for the last few days - it almost feels like it's pulling apart! I'm sure it's just part of everything moving and stretching down there but it feels very odd!

cookingbabydunc · 11/06/2017 13:29

Also, can anybody point me in the direction of the abbreviations dictionary. I really struggle to interpret so many of these messages. It's a whole new world for me in many ways than one! Thanks!

MrsFrankTurner · 11/06/2017 13:40

Yeah Sofie I'm kind of assuming it's a chemical tbh -I am only too aware of the stats thanks to what I do so was always very tentative in feeling excited Sad I'm doing a hpt tomorrow morning but ringing epu regardless of result as need it checking out.
Thank you Smile

VocalCat · 11/06/2017 13:42

Will be thinking of you tomorrow MrsFrank.

Hope you feel better soon emwithme and I am with you on the knicker checking front.

Congratulations Cooking. I think this list should work for you but any others, then just ask.

Yes Sofie, two and both were quite recent (last two years) so I am a bit concerned. My scar pains have stopped though now so I am hoping it was just sore when my uterus initially started stretching and is setting down now. How far along are you?

RainyDayBear · 11/06/2017 14:44

I had a caesarean 16 months ago Sofie - scar has been okay so far, touch wood. I fully expect it to get achy though.

Cat Daft question, but I'm planning on an elective c section this time, do they reopen the old scar, or make a new incision close to it? Doesn't really matter but I was wondering.

SofiePendragon · 11/06/2017 15:11

Vocal I'm somewhere between 5.5 and 9 weeks - my cycle was much longer than usual and didn't get bfp until CD47 so suspect I'm at the earlier end of that but not entirely sure. Hopefully cramps etc will settle down, although I keep telling myself it's a good sign that things are happening.

Does anyone know if nuchal thickness testing has to be between 10 and 14 weeks? My scan date has come through but its while I'm on holiday so need to rearrange

VocalCat · 11/06/2017 15:21

Rainy I think they reopen the old scar although I am basing this purely on the fact that I just have one line, rather then two side by side. It's possible it is really close and it has merged but I don't think so.

Sofie I have no idea of my exact date either as my cycles are all over the place and I have a not quite eight month old. Yes, there are specific dates and I cannot remember exactly what they are but I believe the latest is 14+2 for the nuchal measurement.

Blissfulignorance · 11/06/2017 17:31

Have no advice on the scars front.

New question to experienced mothers, did your baby daddy come with you to the booking in appointment? Not sure if it's the done thing. I'd assume they'd want to know about any genetics and disease running in his family?

MrsFrankTurner · 11/06/2017 17:35

Hi Blissful! Yes mine came to the booking appt with all 3 of mine and having carried out a lot of booking histories the baby daddy doesn't have to be there but it's handy if you know his immediate family medical history Smile
Congrats xx

VocalCat · 11/06/2017 17:39

Yes Blissful although he won't think time. I think there are a couple of relevant questions about his family but it doesn't matter if he isn't there. Sometimes, depending on the area you live, the midwife will listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks and that is often a good appointment to take your OH to.

Alicantine · 11/06/2017 18:00

Thanks girls for the update on the vitamins I like to not feel guilty too much about not buying pregnacare outright. @RainyDayBear I never knew about the different dosage when BMI is over 30!!! I had a BMI above 30 for four of my pregnancies and no one told me anything! I have lost weight last year (BMI 24.5 yayy!!), specifically as I thought it could help me get pregnant again, but I wish I had known I needed to take a bit more folic acid though! How odd!!

Bliss I won't take mine with me for the first appointment as it's very long what with the recap of all previous pregnancies (it's my eighth) and family history etc, but good suggestion from vocal about the one appointment when you can listen to baby's heart beat.

@cookingbabydunc welcome :) hope the acronyms' list was useful:)

Emma I hope you feel better soon!

SofiePendragon · 11/06/2017 18:29

My dh didn't come to my booking in appt when I was pregnant with DD. I think he only came to the two scans, although I told him he could come along whenever he wanted. He's no good at remembering stuff like family history anyway.

emwithme · 11/06/2017 19:16

DH came to my booking in appt in February. He's not coming this month (he's off on a course, as it happens, but either way, it's not his thing). I know his family history enough now so I can answer all the questions.

Thattwatoverthere · 11/06/2017 19:31

I was wondering about taking my OH to the booking appointment so really useful to read what you've all said. It's unlikely that he can make it with work so it's good that I can go alone. What sort of history will he need to know that would be useful?

What he could have told me before is that his other child was over 9lb... as was he Confused. Please tell me weight is solely based on the mother who was teeny at less than 7lb

RainyDayBear · 11/06/2017 19:58

I didn't take DP to any midwives appointments (aside from one at 41 weeks where I was in early labour and we weren't sure if he should go to work or not). He's adopted so couldn't have helped with the family history discussion anyway! He came to all the scans though Smile

@Thatwatoverthere History wise it's fairly basic - just screen shotted mine. I don't know if different areas ask different things though!

February 2018 Babies!
Emwahs · 11/06/2017 20:10

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Does anyone have any advice for helping the exhaustion? I have a very stressful job beingva store manager for a pharmacy so I have asked for a smaller less stressful store which they should hopefully accommodate. But at the moment all I want to do is sleep! This is our first and the husband is not taking it too well as we have a pretty active lifestyle.

Also the constant queasiness. TMI warning! We have two dogs and because of that I always have poo bags in my pocket! They were a lifesaver when the husband and i were in the middle of Lidl shopping and i had to suddenly run out of the store! Thankfully made it back to the car just in time!

Thattwatoverthere · 11/06/2017 20:24

Really useful thanks rainy, gives me a bit of interviewing to do before the appointment Smile

I'm really scared that I'll lose this one, doing 'knicker watch' constantly and am always surprised when there's nothing there. Although last time there wasn't either so it doesn't mean a lot. I'm so excited but then having to reign it in a bit just in case the scan doesn't show a heartbeat. Hopefully I've only got 3 weeks to go until my early scan which will put my mind at rest either way. Clinging on sometimes literally to my massive, painful, boobs and occasional nausea as symptoms as a bit of reassurance.

Hope you're all doing ok!
