Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Sorry to hear about those who have been having issues Sad.
Anybody else feeling really sicky? Not actually thrown up yet, but feel like I'm going to unless I'm actually eating! Struggling with my usually active job having to just sit around with a bucket just in case.

VocalCat · 09/06/2017 19:43

Hope everyone is doing ok. I still don't have any symptoms and am still worrying about it.

My midwife appointment isn't until the end of the month and it feels ages away.

MrsFrankTurner · 09/06/2017 20:30

Thank you for your lovely thoughts -yes it's much heavier -no cramping but assuming the worst xx

Thank you all hope you are all well

VocalCat · 09/06/2017 21:44

So sorry MrsF. Thinking of you.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 09/06/2017 21:49

Toomany no nausea but I've still got heart burn which is making me feel sick... had it for over a week now, especially when I'm hungry.

Mrsfrank so sorry to hear you're having a rough time, everything crossed for a positive outcome!

Alicantine · 10/06/2017 01:14

@MrsFrankTurner sorry to hear about the bleeding. Just wanted to say that unfortunately a positive test on Monday would still not confirm or inform the m/c hypothesis as you're bound to test positive until quite some time. The only way would be a blood test then another one 48h later to check if the rate has gone up or down but maybe you'll be sure either way by then. In the meantime your idea of pwoering through the weekend is the best. There is nothing you can do anyway so at least get to enjoy your relax time, if you can.

@Firsttimeandclueless I thought it was standard procedure to have to see the GP first before booking with the midwife, isn"t it? I know this is how it works where I live but even in previous places it was always like that. So how exactly did you manage to book a separate appointment with the midwife for June 28th? That's cool!

@GingerRogers84 congratulations for your heartburn lol. Still nothing at all here. No symptom, nothing. I would have said I'm tired but...I'm always tired!

Good night everyone was nice to catch up on some of your news today as I absolutely cannot talk about the pregnancy to anyone around me and hubby is sooo busy. So it's nice to have somewhere to relate to people going through similar things. Flowers

Alicantine · 10/06/2017 01:16

@VocalCat same here , no symptom and I do not have any appointment booked with anyone just yet. I hope I'm not gonna regret wanting more symptoms !

lookatthemoon · 10/06/2017 03:33

Handhold MrsFrank - Sending positive thoughts your way x

Blissfulignorance · 10/06/2017 07:38

I'm so sorry you're having a shitty time mrsfrank I really hope this isnt the end for you 💐💐

I'm still waiting to hear from the midwife, the doctor referred me over a week ago. There's still time but I'm a shift worker and worried I might not be able to make an appointment at the right time.

I've woken up this morning feeling awful anxiety! I'm tearful and so scared of things going wrong. I was doing fine yesterday I'm not sure what's happened overnight or if anyone else has this?

DH keeps telling me everything is fine. He's trying to be nice but I can't seem to relax.

Pidgythe2nd · 10/06/2017 07:44

mrs F Flowers So shitty. Hoping for the best.

I've been away from the thread for a few days. Need to slow down a bit but work is busy and a lot going on with DC school and nursery. Spent 2 days abroad with work which was full on but I managed to read 2 books. Unheard of! Never get time usually.
I think I'm just feeling a bit over whelmed at the moment as feeling very tired and sick if I'm hungry. Not sure how I'm going to keep on top of everything when/if I start actually being sick.

I also drank a very small glass of wine during a work meal. Confused
Drank it very slowly, with food and left some so hoping it's ok. Totally stupid but everyone was discussing drinks and looking at me so it would have been a flashing 'pregnant' light if I'd said no. Also couldn't remember if feta cheese was a no go. Tried it then had doubts but it was part of 3 dishes!! It wasn't a menu type place, they just served us. Too late so not even checking google. Keep thinking about it though.

My only saving grace is thinking some people don't know they are pregnant at this point, and I was pumped full of a lot of drugs during my pregnancy with DD from about 7-11 weeks as I was very ill. She is perfect so apparently did no harm.
Fingers crossed.

Pidgythe2nd · 10/06/2017 07:45

Blissful we crossposted, but think my post answers your question! I feel the same. Flowers

Blissfulignorance · 10/06/2017 08:27

Pidgy I'm sure it will all be fine, before I knew I had a very heavy weekend, I thought the hangover was a bit severe for the crime but now I know why. Like you said, lots of people make a few mistakes in the beginning, spose it's best to be at this really early stage and not when you're sharing a blood supply.

I guess this just normal feelings and hormones. Nobody tells you about this bit though, I was warned about sickness and being tired etc but not the anxiety!

lookatthemoon · 10/06/2017 09:24

Blissful - I'm the same. I know lots of us here are really anxious about a loss but interestingly I had my worst day of really heightened anxiety that something bad would happen about 2 days ago and since then the morning sickness has kicked. it makes me wonder if it was a big hormone surge ...

Pidgy - I wouldn't worry too much about a small bit of wine and feta at this stage ☺️ Remember there was a time when it was suggested to pregnant women that smoking would help morning sickness 🙄

Blissfulignorance · 10/06/2017 09:46

Look let's hope that's all it is, I've been slightly cheered up by the post man who delivered my booking in appointment. Not til July but it feels a bit more real now.

Firsttimeandclueless · 10/06/2017 11:50

The anxiety is hard to ignore right? 😓 I thought getting that BFP was the hardest part.

Alicantine I'm not sure! I just called up and said I suspected I was pregnant and the lady on reception gave me both appointments? I didn't tell her about the brown spotting or anything as didn't want to come across as totally neurotic 😂😂
Must just be the way they do it? Not sure!

Piggy try not to worry! About two days before I found out , I went out for my birthday to a restaurant with a "tasting" menu and wine pairing. Had an absolute feast and then got a bfp 48 hours later. I'm sure many people eat/drink things in the early days! ❤️

tailspin · 10/06/2017 12:54

@Pidgythe2nd I was on holiday 3 weeks ago and was so sure I was about to get my period, did one test, negative, so I thought oh whatever & had a glass of wine on three days of the holiday even though I hadn't been drinking for three months! Then came home and did a test because I still hadn't had my period and then it was positive! I'm not too worried. I googled when on holiday and a lot of people say 'drink until pink' because a few small drinks aren't going to affect the embryo as you're not sharing blood supply yet, only if you were really binge drinking would you be creating a hostile environment for the embryo. And statistically people who are drinking a bit are more likely to conceive, apparently so this is even advised sometimes. Forgive me if any of this is wrong or out of date advice but I am trying to not get too worried about having had three glasses of wine on three seperate days, with water and food, and I don't think you should either!

Nausea seems to be starting to kick in for me, is this the case for anyone else? For the past three days I've been nauseous in the evening after having food, but today it started after breakfast. No vomiting or anything but just low level nauseau that's making me not want to eat much. Just drinking San Pellegrino since I like the fizziness and minerally taste. Other than that just sore boobs, very tired, and emotions VERY up and down. Started crying uncontrollably trying to recap the last season of Orange is the New Black to my husband Grin

Hope everyone is doing well.

pretzelpieces · 10/06/2017 14:55

mrsf Flowers thinking of you

toomany I'm right there with you with the nausea Envy no vomit yet just feel like it all the time, eating constantly helps!

blissful I feel more sensitive including tearful and anxious during (especially early) pregnancy. The hormones cause it. Obviously it's an anxious time but part of it could be down to that?

alicantine and firsttime here it is booked directly with the midwives too. Different places do it differently I guess?

tailspin understandable! OITNB is heartbreaking! I'm on s5 ep6 already Grin

I can't remember who asked but I think most feta is ok, as long as it's pasteurised. It's a soft cheese but I don't think it's mould ripened. Like stilton is ok even though it's blue. Not that I can eat cheese at the moment cause of breastfeeding my allergy baby! Can't wait until I can again. If this one has cmpa as well I will cry.

Alicantine · 10/06/2017 15:29

@pretzelpieces and @firsttimeandclueless Thanks for the info. I'm just surprised there isn't a standard way.

I had decided not to call any health professional just yet but hubby is now saying he'd be more reassured if I could be referred to the EPU considering it is my first pregnancy after 2 consecutive miscarriages. (one at 12 weeks, one at about the stage I am currently at ). Therefore I will ring on Monday.

These miscarriages were quite awful to live for me. The first one was dramatic, gore, unexpected, sent me to hospital for two nights. The second one my father in law was very ill so I had decided not to tell my husband that I was pregnant just yet as he was so anxious for his father and I was abroad anyway, then in the end when I told him I was already losing the pregnancy, I had to live through that on my own and found it quite hard.

Somehow I think that as these two experiences were quite hard I am detaching myself emotionally from this pregnancy, in order to not suffer too much if it does not get through... And the fact that I have no symptom helps me try to switch off. But the truth is if I'm here lurking the forums I'm not really switching off am I? Wink

@Toomanydogs and @pretzelpieces no nausea for me. Consider yourselves lucky! (seriously!)

@tailspin I laughed at the crying recap!! I wish I had some fun symptoms like that! :)

VocalCat · 10/06/2017 17:00

Pidgy with DD1 I had loads of implantation bleeding that I thought was my period arriving, so I spent the evening consoling myself with loads of gin. As others have said, loads of people don't realise early on that they are pregnant and depending when you conceived, the advise keeps changing - with DD1 I was told a couple of units per week was fine whereas with DD2 I was told to abstain altogether.

Alicantine miscarriages are horrible and make subsequent pregnancies so much more anxiety inducing. It will depend on where you live as I wasn't allowed a reassurance scan at my EPU because they didn't have the resources to scan women who have previously had miscarriages, stillbirths or ectopic pregnancies. However, you can get private scans done all over the country so even if your EPU won't see you, there should still be somewhere that you can go to for a scan.

conkerchops · 10/06/2017 19:45

@alicantine pregnancy after miscarriage is v v hard work - every time I go to the loo I am expecting it to be over :-( I wish I had
More confidence!
I did tell two close friends yesterday - one friend had found out she was
Pregnant basically the day I miscarried - she then had some issues herself and told me yesterday once she'd got the all clear - she had been v worried about telling me so I think it made it much easier when I told her that I was pregnant again!
Then my other friend asked out right why I wasn't drinking at our curry night so I told her but have asked them both not to tell anyone! And I don't think they wil - definitely felt good to share though - and they both understood how anxious I was!
Today am absolutely exhausted as have been with 10 rainbows at a fun day in a massive scout camp!! It was so so hot and I think I got v dehydrated!!!! Currently flopped on sofa!!!!! How aren't you all doing?

Blissfulignorance · 10/06/2017 20:21

I know this sounds weird but I'm so reassured by all you ladies feeling the same as me. I'm feeling better now, had a walk with DH, ate some crap food. Now lounged on the sofa while he's at a noisy BBQ with his friends.

I'm not sure I'll stop knicker watch until he/she is born. May as well try and get used to it.

I've been the one telling you all to step away from the tests but I found myself staring at them in the supermarket. I didnt buy one, I thought I'd be a mess if it wasn't a strong line.

kazzah29 · 10/06/2017 21:24

Hi everyone! I'm a mum to a daughter Olivia who turned two in March. Just found out yesterday I'm expecting baby number two, due mid-February. Started trying in January so not too long but we're over the moon! Think I feel more nervous than first time round! x

Alicantine · 10/06/2017 21:43

@kazzah29 welcome to you and dc2 and congratulations :)

@blissfulignorance glad you feel better today ans well done to you for not buying another test! I also considered it briefly yesterday when I went to Boots for my vitamins and then I went like naaah!

Btw is everyone taking folic acid? For this pregnancy I'm taking also vitamin D tablets ( so one folic acid and one vitamin d every day). I did hesitate over a pregnacare box, as I want to give myself" the best chances". But then again for my other five kids I only ever took folic acid and everything was fine, so I didn't feel the need to take more. Also pregnacare has iron with it, which I do not like to take if I'm not confirmed as anaemic, as it can cause constipation.

And yes I also think I'll be knicker checking till 4th month at the very least.

@conkerchops thanks for sharing your experience. It's good you've been able to open up to your friends. It's really nice. And sorry to hear about your miscarriage especially as it seems recent if you've been able to catch up with your friend! All good news!

I'm exhausted too, currently writing this from bed. I'm getting some rest before carrying on work (report writing) a bit later.

Hope everyone is managing to get some rest!

Blissfulignorance · 10/06/2017 21:47

Well done us alicante we must resist.

I take a supermarket own brand of pregnancy vitamins, it has the recommended dose of folic acid plus a few other bits. £2 for 30 tablets.

When it come to drugs I usually buy the cheap stuff as it's always the same as the pricey stuff. And I'm stingy.

Emwahs · 10/06/2017 22:28

Hi there.

Just want to introduce myself I am Emma and I am just over 6 weeks pregnant! Just been catching up on some recent posts. After a miscarriage in march we got pregnant pretty much straight away again but I am extremely anxious. The term knicker watching made me chuckle as I do it all the time. Glad it's a normal thing! I had some pains last week so got referred to the EPU and everything was fine even saw a lovely strong heartbeat! But still the anxiety is ever present! Please tell me it's normal and that it reduces over time.
