Fingers crossed this works, no idea how to make a thread but giving it my best shot. Let the May babies continue!

@teainbed - as baby is 3 weeks old there isn't really anything that I can give him but might put the shower on in our bathroom and see if the steam helps clear up his sinuses a bit.

CoxsOrangePippin · 04/06/2017 18:29

@teainbed thanks for that link, I've bought myself the book it looks right up my street!

Had a good session with a lactation consultant, baby has a bit of a tongue tie but is getting plenty of milk so just trying to get him to be able to take in less air with his milk and to latch on in fewer than twenty tries! and maybe without sounding like a warthog Going to be really important to figure that out so I can feed when out and about.

Any tips?

teainbed · 04/06/2017 18:30

I just checked the packaging and Snufflebabe is ok at that age apparently @jennymac31

MrsJW15 · 04/06/2017 19:38

@PeachIcedT interested in whether feeding in the sleepyhead works!

@CoxsOrangePippin what did they say about taking in less air?

Baby W had her first trip to the pub today!

CoxsOrangePippin · 04/06/2017 19:41

@mrsjw15 to hold him close in, ensure he tips his head back, and once he is latched on well (as well as he can) to smoosh his whole body and head even further in towards me, it seems to deepen his latch a bit.

FoxMulder · 04/06/2017 19:47

Anyone heard from @nursebickypegs?

MrsJW15 · 04/06/2017 20:23

I will try the smooshing @CoxsOrangePippin! Baby W eats well but gets very hiccupy!

mightymouse76 · 04/06/2017 20:25

@CoxsOrangePippin how old is baby cox again?
Weirdly I found mini mighty needed more tries to latch after the snip than before, however what seems to have emerged thanks to the saintly HV is that his latch takes ages if he isn't really hungry-e.g. Rooting for comfort.
When he's hungry, he's on firmly first or second go and my nipples know about it Confused
Since yesterday eve we've been trying to do feeds roughly every 3 hours rather than half that, and his latch time has improved as he's crazy for milk by then. Still takes a lot of air though- hard to position him on my small udders...

Did your consultant talk about nipple direction and the fact that you can differ from left to right?

mightymouse76 · 04/06/2017 20:26

No @FoxMulder ... thinking of her though
Hope you're all good nurseb

WishIWasSleeping · 04/06/2017 20:52

@mightymouse76 - I struggle to position baby Wish and I don't have small udders... I think these (April) May babies are a bit awkward!
I feel if I smooshed him anymore he may suffocate...

Me neither Fox - Not since the last time we sent @nursebickypegs 6million notifications and she checked in. I think that was just before all the babies started arriving. I remember she was due a poorly baby wasn't she? So hopefully she's just busy being with him and preparing to be at home. x

@RasperryInAMelon 's been a bit quiet since the sweep this morning - did it work?!

BabyWish is 6 weeks old today. Full of snot and horrendous coughing. Sounds - and pulls faces - like an old man! Confused he has HV and 6 week check / registration on Wednesday along with my 6wk check.

and - other mummies - my birth bleeding stopped a couple of weeks ago, but I keep getting the odd tablespoon of fresh blood. It's very annoying. I stopped wearing pads every second of the day last week, and then bled again on Saturday morning. Luckily I felt the sensation of being about to pee myself and got to the loo in time. The next lot was Saturday night. Then nothing again since. Is anyone else getting this?

EsmesBees · 04/06/2017 20:56

I've not heard from nursebickypegs either, hope you are ok if you are still reading. I've also been wondering how SanitySake is getting on.

beanturnipandspud · 04/06/2017 20:58

Sorry ladies, no news here. Spud is still happily cooking ... induction booked for Wednesday but hoping he will arrive before then.
Had more mucus plug loss today and plenty of cramps. But nothing regular or long standing.

RasperryInAMelon · 04/06/2017 21:36

@WishIWasSleeping ... I wish... I've pushed through my ankle injury today and have been out for two fairly fast paced half hour walks, had curry for dinner and copious cups of Raspberry Leaf Tea, really can't be arsed with even thinking about DTD tonight, but might have a quick fumble in the morning before induction 🙈😂

Some more mucous plug today but not a lot, quite a lot of solid tummy tightening but nothing that hurts as such, it's just uncomfortable.

Going to try and get DH to give me a nice massage in a mo with some lavender and Jasmin oil before a relatively early night - I feel like tomorrow will be a long one...

jennymac31 · 04/06/2017 22:15

@wishiwassleeping - I've been experiencing the same issue with the one/off bleeding. Apologies for the tmi but on Thursday it felt as though I might have got my period, as I had a slightly heavier bleed, but it seemed too sooner as it had only been 3 weeks since baby boy was born and I'd read that your first period after birth would arrive on average 6-8 weeks later.

Anyone else experienced their period post baby arrival?

Ghostonthedancefloor · 04/06/2017 22:42

@wish yes yes and YES!! It's so annoying. You think great, bleeding has finally stopped after a day or two of nothing, and then bam! an almighty gush. (Followed by nothing for a while again) Hmm

teainbed · 05/06/2017 00:01

Sometimes the bleeding restarts after you've been doing something a bit more strenuous than normal or when you've been breastfeeding lots. As long as no odour or fever or bogs clots then it's normal.

Having a shocker with BabyTea this evening. Sad That lovely cycle of feed, burp, vomit, change clothes and nappy and bedding, get hiccups, scream a bit, get hungry again...

teainbed · 05/06/2017 00:02

@beanturnipandspud and @RasperryInAMelon this time next week you'll have your babies! Flowers

crazyzooo · 05/06/2017 00:15

@teainbed I feel you... I used to disapprove of having a tv in the bedroom but lost that particular discussion. So happy about that right now!!

Baby crazy's aim must have been off last night (and I must have been to tired to notice for a while) because I woke up with a hickey on my boob!!

WishIWasSleeping · 05/06/2017 05:02

I've started walking for around an hour 3 days a week with the double buggy, I forgot about the exercise/bleed connection. I've also had a very emotional weekend I suppose, so I'll put it down to that.
Last baby I bled for almost 6 weeks, then nothing for 6 days, then I got what I presumed to be my period. I have PCOS, so periods in the last few years have been a bit iffy! Then I think I had 2 more periods in the 9 months before getting pregnant. And DD was a regular BFeeder, feeding in the night until around 6m.
My brain is too scatty right now for this on/off malarkey! I'm hoping for a coil to have the same effect my depo injections used to have... no periods!!
Saw DH off to work 40 mins ago - just trying to get the monster to have more milk before trying to sleep again. Although DD has been up before 5:30 since last Friday Hmm

EsmesBees · 05/06/2017 07:43

Good luck today raspberry. You can do this!

My period didn't return until 7 months last time, but when it did I knew about it. Much more painful than before having a baby.

1004Rise · 05/06/2017 07:58

DH's parents are up for a few days so baby Rise is getting lots of cuddles, I think maybe too many as the vague routine/ pattern she's been following went completely to pot yesterday, which meant she was wide awake at 3.30 this morning, hoping this isn't the way this week will go 😯

Yesterday's achievement was working out how to get the car seat cover off to go in the washing machine after we had projectile vomit all over it!!

@teainbed hope you got out of the crazy cycle and got some sleep!

Good luck today @RasperryInAMelon scrummy baby cuddles soon!!

@mrspage1985 & @beanturnipandspud you're being amazingly patient 💐🍰

@crazyzooo your hickey made me laugh... things you never thought you'd say!!

I am going through breast pads like they're going out of fashion, I leaked through the pad and two layers of clothing yesterday 😳 very unglamorous! Need to look at reusable I think ... any recommendations?

FoxMulder · 05/06/2017 08:01

Mine didn't return until 2.5 years Shock. Hope I can get away with that again!

savagehk · 05/06/2017 08:27

Mine came back at about a year, i was lucky and it was lighter/shorter/less painful. Following the pph uterus abuse I'm curious what will happen this time though.

mightymouse76 · 05/06/2017 09:14

Morning oh wise ladies- two question I'm looking for advice on

Firstly, does anyone have any good suggestions for sharing the evening and or night feeds with DP in order to get a slightly better sleep? Last night I broke after being in sole charge for 3 days without a chance to nap in the day. DP got back from errands at 11pm, and I had to hand baby over as was losing it. Went into spare room and slept for 4!! Hours!! DP bottle fed once at 11.30, then we swapped back and I boob fed at 4, then 7.30am (so roughly keeping to the 2.5-3 hourly feeds schedule we seem to be developing)

Whilst blissful for me, I don't think we can do this every night as DP committed to the eyeballs during the day trying to finish our house for us (we are still living out of bedroom and kitchen- no lounge, no storage anywhere so proper chaos).

I guess I'm looking for suggestions of schedules where I can nap for a reasonable chunk, 3-4 hours ish per evening or something, that won't ruin DP too. This seems to be the key to me not losing my marbles- I can make up the rest in little bits as usual but without any chunks over several days it's torturous. I fear I will end up giving up BF as it's making me feel so run down and low, and baby needs a sane, not ill mum at the very least.

I haven't started expressing yet but going to try and set it up today as we have some help coming in, so hopefully baby can have my milk when I'm sleeping.

Advice appreciated as always

mightymouse76 · 05/06/2017 09:20

And for my next question!
I'm wearing baby in the close caboo...second time today and he loves it although it's killing my back so can only do max a couple of hours (core strength is zilch after the CS...can't wait to start Pilates again...)

Query is, can you do these up too tight? I can't seem to get the side panel over his head- he seems to prefer tipping his head sideways and slightly back. I make sure he is supported, but it doesn't look quite right and feels super tight to me. I wonder if he's putting his head like this because it's easier to breath?! I can see his face and kiss his head etc, but I feel like he's crushing my chest let alone his! His breathing seems fine/normal/not laboured...and I understand these things are supposed to be tight like a swaddle?
Total beginners concerns, I know...
Sorry to be the needy 1st timer today!

Just found a link to these French slings too, which I wish I'd found before panic buying the caboo as much cheaper. Anyone heard of them?
