Baby blueberry enjoys sucking my little finger to soothe him. It's a god send at night. Change, feed, finger in mouth and most of the time asleep in ten minutes. Something Mrs he falls asleep by himself if he's absolutely stuffed himself.

MissMooMoo · 03/06/2017 10:16

@mightymouse76 the HV sounds wonderful! I am dreading our visit but maybe we will get the same one.

crazyzooo · 03/06/2017 11:02

Good luck @raspberry!! Your HV sounds wonderful @mighty!

We went to a sling meet yesterday and came home with a close caboo lite. What a revelation!! I am actually getting stuff done!!

BouncingBlueberry · 03/06/2017 11:11

@crazyzooo we've got a close caboo lite. OH has spent a chunk of the morning watching you tube videos on how to wrap properly.

MrsJW15 · 03/06/2017 11:11

@mightymouse76 poor babyW frequently has crumbs and my food spills on her!

Inneedofadvice27 · 03/06/2017 11:13

I'm not expecting a May baby, I already have two may babies who are school girls. Just wanted to say may babies rock!

Rabbitykins55 · 03/06/2017 11:46

Hi everyone! Have failed to keep up to date in the last week or two (christening, family staying etc), so massive congratulations to everyone who has met their babies recently, and good luck for the next few days to the June mummies.
Babynorthern is now 6 weeks and 1 day. HV came on Thursday and he was 9lb 7oz (birth weight 6lb 8oz), so I'm really pleased with how he's getting on as he's still ebf. He's also very windy and fussing from 7-11 roughly in the evenings, but then usually gives me a couple of decent stints of sleep in the night, feeding every 3-4 hours. We are similar to you tea, couple of good nights then a bad one, but we're surviving. We're getting out a lot with DD2 while DD1 is at school now- toddler groups, soft play etc and I feel like we are getting into a bit of a groove now! For everyone struggling with the first couple of weeks, it will get lots easier, and very quickly too. Although I nearly cracked when I had all three on my own at bedtime on Monday! My cs wound is now pretty much healed and no pain at all now either.
Banynorthern won't take a dummy either- I have tried all 3 of mine with dummies at one time or another and none would entertain it. He sucks his fingers sometimes which is very cute.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

vanilla8 · 03/06/2017 13:32

Hi all, baby vanilla week old today. Midwife came Wednesday and he had lost 11% of birth weight. Put on 3 hourly feeds and re weighed today and he is down to 8% loss.
Midwife was very supportive and I think he had lost most of weight in hospital anyway.

Like many of you breastfeeding so tough. Nipples sore, have been expressing a few bottles so DH can feed and give them a break. This morning I expressed as couldn't get him to latch properly as they were so full.

Also find at night he seems to fight getting on the boob, arms and hands getting in the way. In the day he is more calm?

teainbed · 03/06/2017 13:58

@vanilla8 have you tried swaddling for the night feeds? Gets those hands out of the way! BabyTea grasped a handful of nipple last night, seriously painful!

Greylilypad · 03/06/2017 14:50

For whoever asked about Vitamin D drops, they are strongly recommended for babies, especially breastfed babies as they do not/should not be exposed to much sun.

Northernexile · 03/06/2017 15:16

I was also told to give Vit D drops too, even though I was still taking a supplement myself. Apparently this is fairly recently updated advice, as it wasn't the case back in 2014/15, when I was told my supplement was enough.

Walkerbean16 · 03/06/2017 17:45

Baby bean arrived this morning at 6.36 at 40+2, i had a sweep on the thursday, pains all day that stopped friday morning then started again about 11pm, woke my husband up at 4.30, he had to chuck me in the car at 6 as i was contracting constantly with no break and i was refusing to move! Got to the hospital, asked for gas and air, midwife left the room for five minutes and i passed out! So midwives raced in, took the g and a off me and told me i had to deliver immediately as baby was distressed, five minutes later i had pushed her out! Was in for less than 20 minutes! Baby Isabelle had a big feed and went to sleep! Passed all checks and we were allowed home so we got home for 12. She has slept all day i have had to wake her for feeds! Big brother and sister are besotted, we are all snuggled up watching a film eating pizza

Congrats @Walkerbean16 that is a fab birth - that is what I am hoping/praying for!
She is a beaut xxx

beachsands · 03/06/2017 21:12

Vit D drops were recommended back in 2011 on my first. Hardly used them. Have bought them again for baby and will try to use them this time around . I'm deficient myself.

BouncingBlueberry · 03/06/2017 23:59

Hope you london ladies and your families are safe xxx

Badgerbird · 04/06/2017 00:22

Hi everyone, struggling to keep up but still reading and cheering on those with babies and those waiting their turn! CakeBrew

mighty I just wanted to say thanks for being brave enough to share the struggles you've been having. Sounds like you've really been through it and I'm hoping that you are finding your way now what with the dummy helping a bit and having support. How did Ikea trip go??

Carla had her 5 day check today. All good, jaundice cleared up, 8.5% weight lost which mw is fine with, I mentioned I take vit d she says that's fine and no mention of drops. She seems to be feeding well despite TT which is being snipped Mon so hopefully that will help my nipples....
Ooh she's finished feeding... gonna try and put her down in Moses basket to sleep.... wish me luck!!

Catch up more later/ tomoz

stationaryace · 04/06/2017 02:49

jenny an anyone else who feels like they should be "doing more" post birth - the fourth trimester is totally a thing. You are meant to be learning how to feed/understand your baby in your own little bubble. Yes, doing a load of laundry is helpful, especially if you're down to only dirty clothes, and you will need fed, but that's what your oh is for. By three months baby will have some sort of routine - it may not be the routine you would pick but you'll learn to work with it. Anything more than baby care and light housework (food/dishes/laundry) doesn't get touched until oh is home too, so weekend for us.

I didn't go to baby groups for the first two months as they're for mums rather than babies at this age. This time I'm dragging myself to toddler groups now oh is back as work as it's keeps the bigger one busy and gives her structure to the day.

FoxMulder · 04/06/2017 08:03

Congratulations walker sounds like a great birth!

Re: bit D drops - is there not an issue with that and 'the virgin gut'? I will make an effort to take a supplement myself I think.

Badgerbird · 04/06/2017 08:20

Congratulations walker! She's a cutie Smile

So come on then mums, what's the secret? How do you get babies to sleep on their own for more than 20 mins?
I've tried the rolled up towel under mattress cover, my t shirt, hotty, ssshhhing, rocking etc...
Who thinks a sleepyhead or similar is worth it? Jenny I think you got one from boots didn't you?
At the moment it's a case of us taking turns staying awake holding her whilst she sleeps Confused
I understand she's only tiny and in her 4th Trimester (and it's brilliant watching her little face whilst she sleeps) but we could really do with some sleep too....

vanilla we get the arms and hands thing too and she's a thumb sucker so will try and do that sometimes and I'm like "no, you've got the real deal right here!" She doesn't seem to like being swaddled either but I'm gonna try again today tea

raspberry I'm glad you had a better experience the other day, the end is in sight, hang on in there!

Hoping all you London ladies and your families are safe. Such sad news Sad

savagehk · 04/06/2017 08:26

Cosleeping badger.

RasperryInAMelon · 04/06/2017 08:29

I don't know how you Mummies are managing to keep up, still waiting here and I struggle!

Final sweep booked for 9.30 this morning ahead of outpatient induction booked for 8.30 tomorrow! Will bubs make an appearance of her own accord between now and then!?...

Congratulations to all the new Mummies over the last few days! x

savagehk · 04/06/2017 08:38

fox i would think so (and one of the reasons we went with vit k injection rather than drops).
As I've said before, i think that with moderate sun exposure and our translucent skin we'll be OK re vit D.

Badgerbird · 04/06/2017 08:45

Yeah we have opted for that after her last night time/morning feed savage around 5/6am. It sort of works although I have such a wicked cough/cold at mo that lying without pillows fills me with mucous and I spend my time alternating looking at her Little face in wonder and delight (what a fab thing to wake up to) and coughing guts up!! We haven't tried it throughout night yet, still bit nervous too I think....

Badgerbird · 04/06/2017 08:45

Goooooood luck raspberry!!! Come on Baby Raspberry Smile
