I couldn't use a space hopper as a kid without falling on my face or ass, doubt I'll be trying it in labour lol!!!

Zaberwocky · 09/05/2017 17:19

Brens they're all too bloody calm for my liking! I've been on a labour ward and I can bullshit Grin

Lola I'm sure there's an alternative play-thing. Maracas maybe? Dual purpose - gets you in the rhythm of labour, and gives you something to conk DH/P on the head with.

Lolabee · 09/05/2017 17:25

I think I'll be extremely lucky if DP manages to stay in the room. We recorded a ramseys kitchen nightmares the other week which was on after one born. Obviously the last couple of minutes of one born was recorded with it, cue programme starting with a shot of a screamer pushing the head out, along with the blood as I think she had torn (poor girl). DP turned green and looked at me in a panic and asked if I could take my mum or a friend. Angry but Grin at his reaction. Poor sod hasn't a clue what he is letting himself in for lol

Carlotta82248 · 09/05/2017 17:32

We're not having NIPT, wasn't even sure about the nuchal but we are in the end, I'm so anxious too much knowledge makes me nervous. Plus we really can't afford it, and I'd end up asking the sex, which I really don't want to know x

Oysterbabe · 09/05/2017 17:50

I'm firmly team yellow :)

I love one born. I was lucky enough to have a very positive experience with my first birth so I mostly feel excited about it rather than nervous. DH is squeamish and I was reassuring him rather than the other way round.

Zaberwocky · 09/05/2017 17:58

Bless him Lola 😂 Ah I don't know if I want to know the gender. It'd make bugger all difference to what I'd buy and how I'd feel about it. As I've said before, it could be a koala for all I care at this point.

I am quite excited to see a baby shaped thing tomorrow.

Zaberwocky · 09/05/2017 18:01

Oyster I'm not nervous. More accepting of the fact that one way or another it's coming out and there's nothing I can do about it Grin I think it's good to be relaxed about it!

MaryShelley1818 · 09/05/2017 18:17

Aww Tootsy...that's an excellent scan! Perfect 😊

We're paying £399 for NIPT tests as I have terrible anxiety and worry, and just need to know everything is ok. As part of that we'll also be finding out the sex, I can't wait!!

Brens13 · 09/05/2017 18:19

Agreed that this series the mums have been very calm and not nearly screamy enough. Might have to dig up some old ones on 4od. I'm not nervous yet, just don't want DH to have an unrealistic vision of how amazing the birth will be lol.

TootsyBella84 · 09/05/2017 18:32

Ooh we will need to add which team to the spreadsheet! Pink, blue or yellow 😁
We found out with the other two and now have one of each, where we live now they don't disclose the sex at the 20 week scan so I think that's a good way for me to stay team yellow. Dh on the other hand wants a private scan to find out! He doesn't quite get that I have to agree and go along willingly since I am the baby oven 😂 we shall see!
What is everyone else doing?
That's so cool that they can now find out the sex through a blood test!

TootsyBella84 · 09/05/2017 18:35

I've added another column for team 😁😁

Angielka · 09/05/2017 18:49

I was talking about this with colleagues today. In Belgium everyone seems to find out the sex but my Uk friends haven't. We found out with both girls because we couldn't bear the doctor knowing and us not, and since the girls both told us they want a brother I think finding out might help them adjust if necessary Smile

Royalsteph · 09/05/2017 18:49

I had DH in a headlock for the pushing stage of my labour, mainly to keep him from the business end and I needed a good grip on something. Bless him he didn't complain once Blush
I'm gonna say team blue because the chances of us having a pink are pretty slim. Loads of cramps today, waiting for a phone call from epu tomorrow.

Peachi82 · 09/05/2017 19:09

Home ❤️ and my boyfriend is cooking. He's such a star since I carry the precious cargo 😊
I don't think we want to know what we're having, we both honestly don't care and before we only receive gendered gifts, I'd rather not know so I can't tell.
I don't know what it is nowadays, but boys only seem to wear dark blue and mud green with a fresh grey and girls look like a pinkish nightmare 😂

Zaberwocky · 09/05/2017 20:30

Peachi that's a fair point about gendered presents! Though I must admit Blush I really don't want any gifts. I feel awkward and uncomfortable accepting things like that.

God knows how I'm going to convince people to not buy anything 😂

glastogal · 09/05/2017 20:42

We are considering finding out but keeping it to ourselves.. OH really wants to know but I don't want a house full of pink or blue gifts either so i'm more on the fence. Thinking it might be a good way to connect to the pregnancy, it all just feels quite surreal to me at the moment - like it's happening to somebody else!!

Peachi82 · 09/05/2017 20:49

I'm not expecting any presents, but I guess this just happens?

I'm looking forward to all the little clothes my mum kept of my siblings and me and that my nieces wore as well ❤️

Glasto, yeah, it's surreal. I hope it gets better after the first scan and when we start feeling the baby every day. Quite a way down the line though.

glastogal · 09/05/2017 21:06

I'm not expecting too many gifts other than from 2 pairs of very excited first time grandparents that have very definite ideas about what little girls and little boys like Hmm my Mum actually told me off for having a blue collar on my female cat 😂😂 I imagine we will end up with loads of gender stereotyped stuff regardless.. it seems all baby wear is very pink or very blue Confused

Yeah peachie - feeling movements seems like forever away!! Perhaps those will convince me it's really happening though!!

Brens13 · 09/05/2017 21:13

Team yellow here - partly because it's my favourite colour so it's a good excuse to have lots of yellow things about!

At hockey this evening one of the opposition elbowed me in the boob...she nearly got the full wrath of a tender pregnant lady!! Grin

MotherofUnicorns · 09/05/2017 21:47

Oooh I can't wait to find out!! I found out with my two daughters and loved it. It really helped make everything real and I think it helped us bond and plan. Knowledge is power f you ask me!
I'm not going to fork out for a harmony test but i'll get it for free at my hospital if I'm more than 1 in 500 risk after nuchal scan.
As for the Christmas chat - I am actually going to have to start thinking about planning presents pretty soon. ..... for the kids at least..... this is going to take some organisation!

GadgetgirlUk · 09/05/2017 21:52

Yay @Tootsy, lovely scan pic! Hoorah for your bean xx

Sending the nauseous gang hugs, know the felling xxx

ScotsLamb · 09/05/2017 21:53

Brens13 I have about 90 stairs to get to my classroom. No lift! Running up and down them with tender boobs is not great. I keep having to hold on to them and then worrying staff or worse pupils see me groping them on the stairs!
A friend said it only gets worse Confused

QueenEnid · 09/05/2017 21:57

Hi ladies. Just checking in and saying hi. Need to catch up on the 50,000 msgs on thread . But sleep is calling so sending you all lots of anti sickness pills, cake, and for @Zaberwocky a spade to dig a grave for your ILs with. Selfish bastards. They sound just like mine! But that's a story for another day!
Night all x

Evening all. Quick check in for me. It's been a long day with an early start and then a busy evening with some family. Also staying away for work tonight so just crawled into bed now.

Tootsy I'm glad all was ok at your scan. Great picture.

I can't wait until Sunday, the 'are we/aren't we' having twins thing is driving me insane. I just want to know, and to know that they are both ok. I'm 8+5 today. Time seems to be going so slowly.

Mrsbluebell17 · 09/05/2017 22:28

Oh and I think we're going to find out the gender. Just because I'm super organised and would like to know. If it's twins we are DEFINITELY finding out. Grin
