Zaber the Christmas presents thing is ridiculous. I'm sure they wouldn't actually be expecting anything with you also dealing with a newborn?? And if people want to see you, they can travel over. I think we'll pop over to my parents' on Christmas Day, simply because they don't live far and they have 3 spare rooms to choose from. But if I change my mind, they will have to deal with it. Put your foot down xx

Royalsteph · 08/05/2017 19:13

I'm leaving work at 21 weeks taking a combination of annual leave, prenatal leave and mat leave at 29 weeks. We're moving house at 21 weeks. That's only 14 weeks, so excited can't wait to leave this place.

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 19:30

Ohhhhh Steph ! Exciting. Are you moving far? That'll be a lovely chunk of time off 😋

Am I totally making this up or are you forces too? If so I hope it's a good posting. Sorry if I'm imagining that 😂I'm easily confused these days.

I'm refusing to talk to DH every time the C word is said. I am an icon of maturity.

fishfingerSarnies · 08/05/2017 19:39

Oh Zaber I wouldn't be going anywhere in those circumstances. I'd just say to everyone sorry we aren't doing presents this year, unless young children.
We did this a few years ago and it's great really takes any pressure off Christmas I don't even really buy for DH just a token gift, I buy for my younger sister and my cousin and my kids that's it!
I can't decide if we will go to mil at xmas or not I'm due xmas Eve but will be a section so probably a week before she's great and it's lush being there but I'm worried it will be too much on her descending with 3 kids and a dog.
My sickness hasn't been too bad today I just keep doing really loud fake sounding gagging retching noises at random times.

Royalsteph · 08/05/2017 19:55

Zaber - Do you know me???? Not posted getting out, moving into our own house nearly 250 miles away. Looking forward to the time off, will save on childcare with the other three.
Christmas will be a quiet one as I'll probably be overdue knowing my track record.

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 20:05

Ohhhhh! It'd be bloody weird if I did know you Steph ! Good for you though, I honestly can't wait to be out Smile and it'll be lovely moving into your own place.

I'm going to be nosey and take a peak at the spreadsheet to see where you're based now Wink

Angielka · 08/05/2017 20:08

Oh, I’ve missed so much, but congrats zaberwocky on the new job!

Carley so happy to hear the scan went well!

Lola hope you are ok now - it’s scary isn’t it? A few of us have been through it and all has turned out ok, but it is terrifying.

Toots sorry to read what you’re going through as well. FX for you - good luck tomorrow

Zaberwocky, Beardy, foxglove, everyone who is suffering with this horrendous nausea, you have my sympathies. I had the worst day in a while and I am 10+2 now so isn’t the placenta meant to be taking over some of the burden?? I had an amazing relaxing weekend, with only being sick once or twice a day, and my parents and DH taking full care of the house, the cooking, our two DDs… back to work this morning and I was running out of meetings to vomit left right and centre. Nightmare. Came home and fell asleep on the sofa while DH fed the girls and put them to bed. Wish we could say the end of the trimester is in sight, but it feels far away on days like this.

One bright spot was telling the girls - they are so excited and we had a bit of a job explaining that they have to wait another 6 months to meet their little brother or sister. Oh, and they have informed me they want a brother as ‘we already have two girls’… could be interesting.

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 20:08

Possibly Steph Grin next county over, in Oxfordshire. You've probably have a good idea where I'm based!

Though it would be quite funny if we lived in the same road or something!

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 20:10

Oh Angielka! that's so adorable Smile I'm sorry you're feeling so rough though. It must be lovely having the kids so excited, hopefully they appreciate you can't decide the gender!

Royalsteph · 08/05/2017 20:20

We haven't told our boys yet. But have asked the two older ones if they want a sibling. They both said yes but only if it's a girl. I have three ds's haha. Not sure I would know what to do with a girl. Although the pretty clothes will be a nice change.

Angielka · 08/05/2017 20:25

I had a dream that we were told the baby was another girl and that was my reaction steph - well, that's probably good seeing as we have all those clothes! I feel like I wouldn't know what to do with a boy after our two DDs but like you say zabe it's another thing over which we have no control!

GadgetgirlUk · 08/05/2017 20:47

@Zaberwocky, I think you're being perfectly reasonable, FFS presents aren't the point of Christmas, and there's no way you should have to travel all that way with a tiny baby xx
@Toots good luck tomorrow, take care of yourself xx

Mrsbluebell17 · 08/05/2017 21:01

Tootsy how are you doing?

Lola I'm glad everything was ok.

Zaber you are not being unreasonable at all. Why don't you suggest a secret santa style Christmas with DHs family?

MummyHenman2be · 08/05/2017 21:21

Anyone else get the urge to gag and dry heave?

So weird! Nausea comes and goes but only thing to help with the gagging is having a mint!

If the wind hits my neck- gag! If hubby goes near my neck- gag! If I open the bin- gag! I I bend down- gag!!

Is this normal???

fishfingerSarnies · 08/05/2017 21:34

I've been doing that too mummyhenman it's awful as I'm making really loud retching noises. I just did it while I was putting some chicken soup in the fridge and my husband heard me from the garden.
He finds it hilarious.
It sounds like I'm putting it on but I can't stop, funny smells, change in temperature anything seems to set it off.

Lixon · 08/05/2017 21:43

Really struggling to keep up!

So so sorry for the ongoing stress Tootsy, I am keeping everything crossed that it's just a bit of bleeding and all will be fine at EPU tomorrow. I hope you get some sleep tonight.

Also sorry to hear about your situation Lolabee but glad scan looked good, it must have been such a relief.

How are you finding being back at work Bisquick? Your boss sounds so lovely. Good luck with the hospital decision, must be very difficult. I am booked in for the harmony test next Friday at the fetal medicine centre. I thought it would help my anxiety and perhaps avoid the need for a cvs this time round.

Mummy henman I am definitely dry heaving but not as constantly as you/it's driven almost entirely by smell in my case.

Zabe you sound entirely reasonable re Christmas, good luck convincing your husband.. Everyone is expecting to come to ours for Christmas this year because we're renovating this year. That's fine (if they don't stay..) but if they think I am cooking anything they have another thing coming!!

Becs and battenberg I have sent you Facebook invites :)

Angielka · 08/05/2017 21:51

Zaberwocky we have a system in our family where us adults each buy for one other person (drawn by a website) with a fixed budget and everyone gets stuff for the kids. Keeps present-unwrapping time to a reasonable length, you have a place you can put a wish list so you might get something you like, (rather than a chopping board!) and the focus is on the kids and spending time together and eating! We have everyone coming to us this year but it goes without saying I will not be cooking!!

Mumoftheark · 08/05/2017 23:24

😭😭 so sick can't cope. After posting the other night I spent all night Friday being sick every half and hour and then all day Saturday. My daughter had a tummy bug so put it down to that. Today however I feel like its morning sickness now. Can't sleep want to be sick but haven't been able to eat anything. It tic tacs since Friday so there's nothing in me. Feel weak and dizzy but even looking at food makes me gag. Fancied some spaghetti hoops this afternoon randomly. Bought some had one mouth full and have felt worse since. Tips on looking after 2 children doing the school run etc with hubby away needed and appreciated - may die

Mumoftheark · 09/05/2017 04:18

Nice bit of 4am sickness 😭

QueenEnid · 09/05/2017 04:36

@Mumoftheark hugs. You're not alone. I'm on the 4am nausea train too xx

Mrsbluebell17 · 09/05/2017 05:35

Just up for work and thinking of you mumoftheark and queen. I had a rubbish nights sleep again and feel sick. Staying away tonight and have a long day ahead so feeling a little anxious right now.

TipTop333 · 09/05/2017 06:57

Mumoftheark that sounds really bad. I'd be worried about dehydration - can you call 111 for advice?
How far away is dh? Can he come back? Sick bug or morning sickness, you sound really poorly!

Lixon · 09/05/2017 07:12

Yes, I agree that sounds awful/ you need to speak to someone medical and ideally try and find some help to rest a bit - do you have any family or friends nearby who could help?

Hopefully it won't be required but I think another poster was put on a drip in the last thread in similar circumstances for dehydration so definitely get checked out..

Zaberwocky · 09/05/2017 07:34

Mum to the doctors with you! Before it gets any worse. Being on a drip is not fun.

Miami81 · 09/05/2017 07:34

Zaber
I think I read somewhere that very small babies shouldn't be put in car seats for more than an hour or something (no idea if true or not) but could be useful for you in agreeing what you are doing.
I totally agree with you about the presents things, it is unnecessary to spend that much money on grown people who probably have more than enough stuff anyway. In my family we have a budget for the adults of 25euro each, which can be a bit difficult but last year for example, my mom, my older sis and my dad and I all clubbed together and got my sister a nespresso. She was thrilled.
The main fun is watching the kids opening their presents anyway.
