lola and tootsy - fingers massively crossed for you both x

Lolabee · 08/05/2017 14:48

Just got home, no signal near the hospital.

So far so good, had a scan and beans heartbeat is still flickering away nicely and has grown about .3 mm since Saturday afternoon when I had the private scan.

No explanation for the blood loss but it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

I have been discharged back to gp and if any more issues I can call the EPU directly.
Just got to take it easy for a couple of days

Thanks for all the positive thoughts everyone.

Tootsy I hope it all good news for you too Flowers
It really is a horrific feeling the whole not knowing anything x even though I've seen bean is OK I'm still worried about it. Guess I'll relax when 12 weeks comes and goes

becs591 · 08/05/2017 14:50

Hi, [email protected] - thanks!

Lolabee · 08/05/2017 14:52

zaber I have been in a maternity bra for the last 4 days, just a cheap one as I know "the girls" will be expanding for a while. Have also invested in a sleep bra from mothercare for support overnight, everything I rolled over it was like those plastic knocker toys I remember from my primary school days, ya know the ones on a stick with the 2 balls that you had to bang together. Woke me up constantly!!!!

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 15:55

Ugh. I may invest! That sounds bloody comfty. I just measured myself and I'm now a 32 E according to the tape measure Blush I may get a second opinion!

I've managed to have another disagreement over Christmas today. Told DH we aren't doing presents this year, as with the size of his family who always want expensive shite it equals a couple less months of me being on maternity. Apparently this is mean Hmm despite that in exchange for buying six rather lavish gifts for his dad and step siblings, last year I got a chopping board from the pound shop!

I'm also mean because I won't entertain the idea of travelling 4 hours to our hometown to stay in his mothers damp, mouldy, tiny spare room with a (at most) 3 week old.

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 15:55

Please reassure me I'm being entirely reasonable 😂 !

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 15:56

Lola I'm so glad all is okay!

Lolabee · 08/05/2017 16:05

I think you are being reasonable with it all. The other way around it is to set a budget for each person a which is less than normal.
Also why should u have to travel with a newborn?

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 16:29

My thoughts exactly! To be honest, I really begrudge buying anyone anything this year. It seems easier to have a blanket rule. Like if we said we'd only do parents and siblings, while there's four on my side, DH is 12. It's just insane volumes of stuff that I can't be arsed with this year. How am I supposed to fit all this crap in the car with a baby?

And it's because DH's side of the family don't visit us. We live too far away to bother apparently, doubt they'll change their tune when they find out about the baby. So I'll be constantly badgered to drive down to visit... must remember to change my phone number

How're you feeling anyway Lola? Taking it easy I hope!

Brens13 · 08/05/2017 16:40

Zaber you are totally not being unreasonable! You'd hope they'd understand, tho with their attitude to the travelling being questionable maybe not. Fight your corner on this as it makes perfect sense to me.

Lolabee · 08/05/2017 16:45

I'm trying to be a good girl and taking it easy. Going to start order dinner soon lol.

In your position I think I'd say to the OH that it's limited budget for pressies or HE has to go do the shopping with a set amount of money.

My ex MIL never bothered to come and see us when I was with the ex. Even after dd was born. I certainly wasn't driving 300+ miles so she could see the baby if she didn't wanna put effort in. It ended up being her loss but the ex will occasionally take her down.

Maybe about the travelling thing yet how about saying you will decide nearer the time but not to assume that you will be there.

On another note my OH and I were planning to take my daughter to see his family in another country this summer which is soooooo not happening now. No way am I going while pregnant to a place where I can't speak the language and it's a 3 day car journey!!

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 17:24

I'm glad I'm not being unreasonable! If we had somewhere comfortable to stay, I wouldn't mind as much, but it's a 2mx2m room - the bed takes up all the room and you can't see the carpet. It's just not practical. I would suggest a hotel but we're really unlikely to get anything last minute ... I tried Christmas Eve last year to avoid it and failed.

Ugh. I just don't see why they can't visit us for once. They're in perfectly good health and are much better off than we are! Though I do get that they'd visit separately due to divorces, new families etc.

And everyone's already pressuring us as to where we're staying for Christmas Angry it's bloody May.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 08/05/2017 17:26

I thought the thread was over.
Hello everyone.
I'm still here.
9 weeks today!

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 08/05/2017 17:28

Oh and [email protected]

Carlotta82248 · 08/05/2017 17:31

I'm going to enjoy a guaranteed Christmas off work and will be going absolutely nowhere! We're a few hundred miles from both families, luckily both are absolutely amazing but I'll be going nowhere! I've done a lot of my Christmas shopping in the sales, which is mega out of character! Must've known I'd be busy at Christmas! X

Brens13 · 08/05/2017 17:35

I'm looking forward to Christmas off too! And then DH should be on paternity as well so that will be great.

Battenburg I can't add you to the fb group on my phone but if no one else does it tonight I'll do it tomorrow on my laptop.

pauseplayrepeat · 08/05/2017 17:43

zabe you are totally not being unreasonable. How long do they want you to go for? At 3 weeks (at most) after birth you'll most likely be getting to grips with feeding, taking every chance to nap you can, and still sore and recovering from labour. You'll want the comforts of home!

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 17:47

Batten this thread will never be over Grin we all talk too much!

Pause it'll be two weeks at a minimum, DH likes spending time at home and is desperate for everyone to meet the baby then. I'm putting my foot down. At the moment it's a no. I'd much rather have them stay in our spare rooms/hotel nearby. Far easier for me to sneak away.

pauseplayrepeat · 08/05/2017 17:54

zabe I think it'd be a different story if you were really comfortable there and thought you would get support, but a teeny room doesn't sound ideal. Hopefully your DH will come around to the idea of them visiting you to take the stress away.

Oysterbabe · 08/05/2017 17:56

Both sets of parents for us are a couple of hundred miles away. We'll be staying put for Christmas. We'll either have a tiny newborn or I'll be very pregnant!

Beardy1 · 08/05/2017 18:02

This does move fast.

Fingers crossed for totes and I'm happy things were okay lola

Thanks for the kind words for my mini meltdown this morning zaber, carlotta and fox. I'm feeling a bit better on my outlook now.

zaber stand your ground. I think it's ridiculous for your relatives to expect you to travel. They need to make the move rather than you guys who have been through so much. What a pain that you even have to have this discussion!!

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 18:08

Oh if I had it my way I'd tell everyone to fuck off Grin but DH objects. He wants diplomatic relations.

Bisquick · 08/05/2017 18:19

Finally caught up. So glad for you Lola! And Tootsy I hope it all goes well tomorrow!

Congrats on the new job Zaber.. and I think think the arrival of a newborn is the perfect time to change up Christmas traditions. You, DH and the newborn will be a family unit now! And surely everyone will understand you need to save up for the baby?

I told my boss this morning since she had some ambitious plans for me now that I'm back at work, but my nausea is leaving me feeling quite rubbish. She was lovely and just told me to work from home whenever I wanted and pushed our more ambitious plans to my second trimester and promised to get someone to help me with running things etc.

Have been nauseous all day, and had 2.5 bags of Doritos for lunch. Blush I've been trying to eat healthily, but I couldn't face the prospect of anything else at all! Have now come home and had a lovely long afternoon nap!

Still haven't decided on hospitals yet (had some very useful info on another MN thread that changed my mind about some of the hospitals we're thinking of). Meeting some consultants in the next week and will decide what we want to do after. Feeling nervous since I have none of my appointments or scans booked in yet.

Is anyone else thinking of the Harmony or Panorama tests?

Zaberwocky · 08/05/2017 18:39

Beardy meltdowns are welcome and par for the course Smile

I had an accident.

Amazon have children's books on 4 for £10 until tomorrow Grin

Carley27 · 08/05/2017 18:52

Lola so happy that everything looks fine ☺️ so horrible waiting for the scan but worth it when you see the little heartbeat flickering away!

Tootsy how horrible for you, hope you're doing ok 😞 fingers crossed everything goes well with the scan tomorrow 🌸

Zaber could you compromise on Xmas presents.. set a budget and DH has to do the shopping himself?
You are definitely not being unreasonable about wanting to travel for Xmas! They are completely ridiculous if they expect you to do that so soon post labour with a newborn!

Glad you found us battenberg .. happy 9 weeks!

Snap Carlotta, starting maternity leave just before Xmas sounds perfect to me :)
