My thoughts exactly Esmes, that's less than the difference between a full or empty bladder/bowel.

Tea any mention of sunshine or the uv lamps?

Rustler74 · 29/04/2017 19:05

@teainbed I'd probably smile and nod re top up advice and follow your own guts. The jaundice doesn't really relate to that and I doubt they'll panic in the hospital about the blood tests if he's doing well and if his heel prick results are ok. Do keep us informed.

@dreamofhungarianlanterns hope you find a solution with stepmom and sister. Xxx

We ended up having quite a busy morning making room for our new wardrobe which will be delivered Tuesday, (as well as the TrippTrapp chair). Then we went food shopping. It really took it out of me and I slept for two hours after that. I think that the insomnia has taken it out of me. I'd best find the letters from both trusts and put them together then figure how much I'm getting before I go to bed tonight. At least I'm not the only one in the dark about SMP.

yellowismyfavourite · 29/04/2017 19:20

@teainbed I hope that tomorrow goes well.... 75g difference could be completely gone by tomorrow... might they weigh him again?
@1004Rise I mostly pushed on all 4 on the bed... I used the bars at the top of the bed to pull against. But then the contractions slowed so I turned over on my back for the final 2 pushes... A weird feeling rotating when you can almost feel the baby between your legs!!!

We had an unexpected day today... I came into the room after a couple of minutes away to find DS twitching and shaking continuously like a shiver but in a warm room and he did this for about 10 minutes. It then took 3 or 4 minutes to get him to wake up. We went to A and E who were totally amazing and lovely, they checked him over and did a load of blood tests and all is well. But it was terrifying and a sharp reminder that we are totally responsible for this little man. We are back at home and I am trying to stay calm as I was told the stress might delay my milk coming in.

teainbed · 29/04/2017 19:23

I think I'm just worrying too far in advance, like you all I can't believe they'd recommend top ups since he's feeding well and gaining weight albeit a bit slower than usual. I was told to top up my older DS but didn't as I didn't know what to do and just fed him more, he was fine. No mention of UV I think because it's prolonged jaundice they look for other causes. @savagehk we've barely had a minute of sunshine up here since he was born otherwise I'd have had him out there in it! It just seems a shame he will need stabbed tomorrow. Sad

teainbed · 29/04/2017 19:25

@yellowismyfavourite that sounds very frightening for you, glad A&E took it seriously. How are you feeling now?

ClaireSunflower · 29/04/2017 19:44

@yellowismyfavourite that sounds really scary. Glad baby is ok and sounds like you did the right thing getting him seen straight away. They do like to scare us though don't they!

I was in the maternal assessment unit today for reduced movement. The baby is normally very active. I feel him pretty much constantly now but I realised around lunchtime that I'd hardly felt him move at all today. Tried drinking sugary drinks, lying down on left side but movement didn't pick up so went in for monitoring. All ok on the ctg and his movements have picked up a little so I am feeling more relaxed. It was a bit of a worrying afternoon all in all.

FoxMulder · 29/04/2017 19:45

That sounds really scary yellow! Are you all OK now?

teainbed · 29/04/2017 19:49

That's good @ClaireSunflower how many weeks are you now?

Barnes79 · 29/04/2017 19:51

Yellow That sounds so scary - good that he's had a thorough check up though and everything seems okay.

ClaireSunflower · 29/04/2017 19:55

I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow @teainbed so still a few weeks to go (probably!) I have a feeling he is going to be late though.

PeachIcedT · 29/04/2017 20:18

Thanks for the new thread! I'm hoping I can keep up a bit better on maternity leave.

@yellowismyfavourite that does sound very scary. You did the right thing going to A&E and I'm glad they checked him over and he is ok.

@ClaireSunflower sounds like a worrying day for you too but glad the movements were there once you got checked out.

In my bid to try to get this baby to go head down I have spent some time this afternoon gardening on all fours, alas I still feel the head in my hip Sad. Consoled myself with a (delicious) ice cream - but cold + sugar = strong limb jutting out my side. She pushed out, I tried to push her back in!

EsmesBees · 29/04/2017 20:20

That does sound scary yellow. Did they say what had caused it? Hope you are all ok now?

newbieho · 29/04/2017 20:40

Blimey @yellowismyfavourite hope you are all ok now.

@ClaireSunflower good to hear little one is moving but I can imagine the stress. Big hugs x

@PeachIcedT if looks like you're carrying very opinionated little one - she knows best which position she prefers, although it may not be the one preferred by you.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 29/04/2017 22:06

Easier said than done yellow but well done for trying to keep calm, that must be the best thing for DS, you and the baby Flowers

Tea hope all is well tomorrow, how frustrating after all the work you've put in with feeding but as others say if you're right on the line you can decide what to do and he's clearly gaining weight

Thank you for the good wishes, I'll let you know how stepmum convo goes.

Peach bless, you've reminded me of the shock of the first time I poked the bump too hard and felt the end of a limb - whhaaattt!!!!

MrsJW15 · 29/04/2017 23:11

@yellowismyfavourite that sounds very scary! Hope you are all feeling better tonight.

@ClaireSunflower hope the monitor was reassuring. I'm trying to be very alert to changes in movement.

@PeachIcedT it's so funny when limbs come out!

Tickyboovicki · 30/04/2017 04:37

So I just woke up slightly worried I had wet myself a bit (tmi - it's gonna get worse) and went to the toilet where I had a fair bit of pink discharge like stuff. Nothing else, just a very dull backache (like when I get my period) although that's not unusual when I wake up I guess. Wondering if this is the start of things?! Too excited/nervous to get back to sleep now!

Autumnsweater · 30/04/2017 05:21

@tickyboovicki ooh - have no idea but sounds exciting!

@yellowismyfavourite sounds scary, you must be paranoid now. Hope you all had a settled night.

@clairesunflower stressful going in with reduced movement isn't it. Glad everything ok.

lullaby23 · 30/04/2017 06:28

Thanks for the new thread! Trying to keep up but have had a busy couple of days with DS's party. Don't recommend trying to make a multi layered rainbow cake when you're 8 months pregnant!

Exciting ticky wonder if something is happening, sounds promising??

claire glad baby got wriggling for you on the CTG.

Sorry to hear about baby yellow having to go to A&E but glad he was checked over and got the all clear.

Silly question tea but how do they diagnose jaundice without a blood test? I was told DS was slightly jaundiced when we were discharged from hospital but then it was never mentioned again. Appreciate there are guidelines so I guess the MW would be remiss not to refer you but hope they can see he is doing well at the hospital and you don't need to top up.

Hope everyone is keeping their inner chimps happy for the rest of the long weekend 🐵🍌

Morning all.
Tea - we have jaundice here too. As did my DD. The recommendation is natural light, rather than sunlight, think some midwives get confused. They both do the same thing, so just being near a window helps, outside is better if possible. Also just having the light on the hands & face is enough, baby doesn't have to have more skin exposed.
If you are BF they do recommend more BF for jaundice - this helps baby regulate more I think and the jaundice resolves itself sooner. Although I can't imagine more than 2hrly would make a difference!
With DD it was gone within 3 days, but its sticking around longer this time - try not to worry too much, and ask them to show you the graph they are measuring babytea against. Increasing but below the lines is usually self-resolving. xxx

Lullaby - they don't use a blood test, jaundice is quite common in newborns. With my little one you can tell by looking at his skin and the whites of his eyes as both are tinged yellow. They doctors and midwives will be able to tell by sight, but then they have a little light sensor that they flash on baby's chest and check the reading. Totally non-invasive. Smile

CoxsOrangePippin · 30/04/2017 07:52

user1493526843 This thread is about babies due to be born next month, I think you should try one of the school boards instead

Rustler74 · 30/04/2017 07:53

@user1493526843 I'm sorry but at the risk of sounding a bit heartless, (I'm not) the antenatal thread is probably not the best thread to post this on. We are mostly FTM's with a few that have older DC but not necessarily at school age. I wouldn't have a clue how to help or advise.

I hope the situation gets addressed and your son gets the the care he deserves.

CoxsOrangePippin · 30/04/2017 07:53

ticky do you think it's like how they describe the plug coming away?

EsmesBees · 30/04/2017 08:01

ticky this could be the start of something! How exciting! But do try and get some more sleep, you'll be needing your energy if today is the big day

Sipperskipper · 30/04/2017 08:12

yellow you must have been so frightened. Hope you are all ok now.

tea hope the hospital goes ok. If there's one thing I've learnt since being pregnant, its that the MWs & staff are VERY cautious - certainly more so than any speciality I've ever worked in!

Oooh ticky keep us posted - it sounds very promising!!
