Hi everyone, tentatively dipping my toes in here. Got a super squinter yesterday and a stronger BFP today. This will be DC #2, DD is 15 months. Bit scared of the coming months, DD is a boob monster and I'm worried she will self wean but what will be will be.

Got a Hen Do this weekend so told the bride today, my first reveal (aside from DH).

Oh and EDD is 10.1.18.

Newhere I had an early scan last time as went to GP as I had a small amount of spotting and he referred me to the EPU. It was reassuring to see beating heart but they also spotted a reasonable sized cyst and decided to do blood test. The results went to my GP who hauled me in and suggested I had ovarian cancer as I had increased levels of the marker for it in my blood. Had to wait a week to speak to consultant who said it was a perfectly normal result for pregnancy. They rescanned and decided the cyst was a corpus luteum and also perfectly normal. So, the early scan really did cause more hassle than it's worth with several appointments and considerable stress. Although I am an tiny bit tempted by one if they only cost £39!!

Kilicat · 04/05/2017 16:33

Have you all organised booking appointments and how did you do it? I'm at a new GP this time around and have been told I've actually got to see a GP before they'll refer me to the midwife. Is this typical? Seems like a bit of a waste of time to me and don't really want to take any more time off work than is totally necessary!

Mumoftheark · 04/05/2017 16:52

@Kilicat yes you have to see your GP and then your booking appointment will be made for you - that's how it works here anyway. Seems such a waste of NHS resources. Although it may be so your pregnancy is registered if you MC before your booking appointment which is about 10 weeks. No idea. I went in yesterday, GP filled out a form, didn't make me take a test or anything just took my word that I was pregnant. He then took my blood pressure and off I went. Surely the form could just be given out at reception and handed in.

Mumoftheark · 04/05/2017 16:56

@jellypi3 welcome to the group.
I was breastfeeding DC1 while pregnant with DC2. As soon as he turned 2 and I was about 6 months I got a real aversion to feeding and hated it with a passion. It actually made me angry. My milk then dried up even though DS was latching on. Apparently it's really common to get a breastfeeding aversion when pregnant. I had never heard of it until I googled as i didn't understand why I started to hate something I had loved. Some people manage to carry on and feed both and for some pregnancy will end your BF journey. Ether way you've done amazing getting to 15 months so don't worry xxx

Waitingonasmile · 04/05/2017 17:45

When are you all going to contact GP/ Midwife? I was planning on waiting until 6weeks (if I even get that far).

StylishDuck · 04/05/2017 17:49

I booked my booking appointment and first scan today. I just rang a self-referral number the GP gave me when I phoned up. I'm in Scotland, so I don't know if it's different anywhere else.

rabbitstail · 04/05/2017 17:57

Hi all and congratulations!

I'm tentatively joining as I got my positive last Friday, I'm 4+6 weeks and waiting for the neurosis to kick in!

I've just booked an early scan for when I'm 8 weeks as I've had two confirmed mcs in the past and a possible chemical in early Feb. I'm not sure when I'll be booked in by the midwifes, any one know how long it can take to get an apt?!

Ta x

jellypi3 · 04/05/2017 18:02

mumoftheark I've heard that about nursing aversion. I guess I'm feeling a little guilty that she might lose her "bo-bo" as she calls it. Hopefully she nurses through though, I'd love to tandem feed!

Mumoftheark · 04/05/2017 18:23

@Waitingonasmile I contact my GP a few days after I got my BFP as my GP is a nightmare to get an appointment. Went 2 weeks later (yesterday).

Your midwife appointment (booking) will be around the 10 week mark

Cookie1831 · 04/05/2017 19:07

Sorry cookie Flowers I had a chemical last month so I know how much it sucks. Loads of people on here told me that you're extra fertile after a CP and I conceived again 13 days later so fx for next cycle for you x

Newhere123 · 04/05/2017 22:03

So I made an appointment to see a midwife tomorrow morning, have requested this due to dull pain I've been having on my lower right tummy since last Aug, it has been investigated and I had 2 US and a CT, bunch of blood tests and swabs- all came back clear, but none really solved the issue..

Been trying not to think much about it as it was determained as IBS/stress, since they tcpuldn't find any physical problem but obviously now with the pregnancy, it's more on my mind..

Tomorrow would be 6 weeks minus a day, I was told by the midwife when I made the appointment that they would try and do an US to check that the pregnancy is going ok as well as do blood tests. Has anyone done an early scan at this stage? I know it is very early to see anything, but I read it is still possible to see a heartbeat- however not to worry if we don't- again, because it is very early.

We already bought the groupon deal for an early scan- so will probably wait till week 8 to do it..

Xx

questsabelletreetop · 04/05/2017 22:38

Chocolate

Hi, can I join?? I literally just got what I think is a bfp which would make my edd 10.01.18.
I have one ds already whose birthday is 20th Jan so although we have been ttc we decided not to try very hard this month as can't cope with Christmas and 2 birthdays on one months pay
Eek I'm cautiously excited, af isn't due until about friday!!

This is my position exactly 🙈 due 10.01.2018 with a DS who has a birthday on 14th Jan and another DS in November!!

By Feb we'll be brokeConfused

rabbitstail · 05/05/2017 00:47

Hey Newhere123, they may have to do an internal scan if you are only 6 weeks as it all may be too tiny to see on the normal US. The discomfort may be down to ibs but it's good to get the reassurance. Good luck!

questsabelletreetop...fab name! Congrats on getting pg so early on! Are you going to re test on Friday?! December and Jan are going to be expensive months for you!

sallywiththegoodhurr · 05/05/2017 07:08

Chocolate and Quest I'll also be in the same position!

DC3 birthday is NYE, edd would be 14/01 and DC1&2 birthday is 02/02 so 4 birthdays 2 weeks after each after, right after Christmas Shock

We all must have a fertile time of the year Grin

chocolateshortcake · 05/05/2017 07:20

Ha ha Quest and Sally! We will have to be organised Smile

SJ1989 · 05/05/2017 09:41

Hey Ladies, the gp has said I will need an early scan, but it's my first pregnancy, does anyone know will the midwife do this on Tuesday when I see her or will I have to wait?

Hotpinkangel19 · 05/05/2017 09:55

Currently at the doctors, have horrible back and shoulder pain, really worried x
