Thank you so much for all the info, this is quire reassuring! Every day feels like forever, especially when you can't tell anything till the scan.

Think I will opt out for an eary scan as well.... x

Thingymaboob · 03/05/2017 21:57

Hi guys, can I join? Got my BFP two days ago. My EDD is 10th Jan 2018.
I'm currently freaked as got a lot of cramping and a had a lighter pregnancy test yesterday. No bleeding. Is anyone else getting cramping?

rememberpurpleronnie · 03/05/2017 22:10

Thing- I've had some cramping, well more like a sort of stretching pain, like trapped wind. I remember if from my last pregnancy too which turned out fine. I think as long as there is no bleeding you don't need to worry, unless the cramping is severe.

PurplePoppySeed · 03/05/2017 22:40

I'm getting loads of cramping and pulling and all sorts of pains I didn't have until much later last time. I'm only 4+5 but feel so sick all the time! I didn't really have morning sickness last time so this is a shock! Anyone else felt really sick this early?

Thingymaboob · 03/05/2017 22:48

Had a few waves of nausea but put it down to eating loads of cake and chocolate!

millsbynight · 03/05/2017 22:49

Yes purple!! I wasn't nauseous/sick till 8 weeks last time, I'm only 5+2 and this morning was properly gagging over breakfast 🤢

StylishDuck · 03/05/2017 22:54

Can I join please? Got my BFP today. EDD 8th Jan. Already have a DD who is 2y3m. Still feels a bit surreal although I've done it all before. If it's like last time I know I won't relax until I've had a scan!

PurplePoppySeed · 03/05/2017 23:00

Mine seems to be worst in the evening and car! I literally lie down in bed and feel awful! I'm not going to hide it long at work Blush

sarahmags · 04/05/2017 05:48

Hi can I tentatively join please?

Got my BFP on Tuesday, EDD 7th Jan. I sat tentatively because in the last year I've had an early miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy. I'll be scanned at approx 6 weeks by the EPU due to the ectopic which will hopefully give me some reassurance, but like I've seen elsewhere, today I am pregnant!

Waitingonasmile · 04/05/2017 06:22

Another one here cramping badly. I had this with my last pregnancy and everything was fine, so try not to worry.
I'm praying for no spotting today! Today is the day AF was due I think. Lines are showing progression so fingers crossed no bleeding. Just want to have a scan at 8 weeks and find out everything is ok.

Train1 · 04/05/2017 06:42

Some bleeding is ok, With my first I had a lot of spotting and then 1 journey home from work with enough bleeding to soak my knickers. All was fine. For those that see blood try not to stress, it's fairly common and doesn't necessarily mean anything bad

ifeellikechickentonight · 04/05/2017 06:50

I agree, I had bleeding with my first at 5 weeks and she was fine

Waitingonasmile · 04/05/2017 07:01

Reassuring to hear positive stories about bleeding/spotting train and ifeel. I always have it in my head that it's a sign of the end/chemical this early on. I did bleed/spot with my last pregnancy but later.

dangle90 · 04/05/2017 07:05

Hey ladies hope I can join :) recently found out I'm pregnant will be due sometime in Jan this will be my first :) xx

MummyM33 · 04/05/2017 07:22

Morning girls, I'm not too sure what's happening with me 😞
Yesterday when I went to the loo I noticed brown blood on the tissue. This continued throughout the day. Last night when I had a wee a clot came out, (it was quite dark (so sorry for TMI) long and thin, about 2 cm in length, but had a slight red tinge around the edges. I was so worried I phoned my friend who is a midwife. She has advised me to call the doctor this morning who will hopefully refer me to the EPU for an internal scan today.
I've hardly slept through the night as I've wanted this for so long and feel devastated at the thought of losing my little bean.
I did a pregnancy text this morning and there is still a strong line so that gives me hope. Just had a wee and there is still a brown mark when I wipe but it's only even been on the tissue never heavy enough to stain my knickers.
Sorry for the long post! I'm just hoping someone else maybe had something similar and it turned out ok.
The brown blood doesn't bother me too much as I know that can happen it's the clot I'm worrying about.
Trying to keep positive with the though 'today I am pregnant' x

Welcome all newcomers! Hotpink I already saw the midwife, as here (I'm in NI) we don't have standard 8 week booking in appointments, you just go whenever you want on a Tuesday morning at the GP. I had 1 Tuesday off work, so she got me then Smile. In another 2 weeks or so, all being well, I'll have a scan at the EPU, which I just ring them for (they promise to give you the early scan in your next pregnancy if you have miscarried before, which I did in February). Then the proper 12 week appointment, where the MWs also do everything that you guys do at the 8 week booking-in, so it's a monster appointment! Looking forward to each of the milestones helps get me through, as even 12 weeks seems unattainable at this point--but 8 weeks suddenly seems not so far now that I'm 6 weeks today!

Newhere there's no true bump at this stage, but I have the most massive bloating after I eat, way more than is normal, and my version of "morning sickness" is a sort of mild stomach-in-knots indigestion. I didn't have any nausea last time so hoping to escape that, as it can be hard to work through for some women!

PurplePoppySeed · 04/05/2017 07:31

M33 thinking of you & hope it's ok, sorry I can't offer a positive example but there seem to be loads of encouraging posts further back xx

MummyM33 · 04/05/2017 07:36

Thank you Purple, I've also created a new post in case anyone else has had similar x

Newhere123 · 04/05/2017 09:05

Morning girls, can anyone think of a way- or maybe say from experience, to get an early scan from NHS rather than go private? I personally think they should allow this, 12 weeks may not seem long, but it is when you go through it day by day. Hearing a heartbeat, at week 7 or 8 I think would be great and very reassuring, especially for those who suffered miscarriage/s before (I know this is done automatically in that case) but also for first time mums..!

Any thoughts?

sallywiththegoodhurr · 04/05/2017 09:20

@Newhere123 I had a private scan at 7 weeks with my previous pregnancy (for reassurance) and it made me worry more!

There is to much uncertainty in the early days that it would simply be a waste of NHS funds to scan early for peace of mind although it would be fab if they did

Newhere123 · 04/05/2017 09:29

@sallywiththegoodhurr thank you, how did it make you worry more?

I know they can't see much, but you can still hear a heartbeat at 7-8 weeks? it sort of forces young mums to go an pay private just to get reassurance that their baby is developing as it should..

sallywiththegoodhurr · 04/05/2017 09:44

@Newhere123 it made me worry more because even though I'd seen a healthy little dot, anything could still go wrong and now I'd seen it I'd be even more heartbroken. If that makes sense?

With my scan you could literally see a dot with a tiny little flash which was the heartbeat. I think mine was £100 but I won't be having one this time

millsbynight · 04/05/2017 09:45

Sorry to hear that mummy. Let us know how you get on at the EPU.

Newhere it's just a matter of resources. The NHS is stretched beyond belief already and it's just impossible to offer early scans to every woman. There are some deals on Groupon if you keep your eyes open and you can get a private scan for £40-50 which is just about affordable. I know it's still quite a lot, but it's a manageable amount.

Newhere123 · 04/05/2017 13:43

I managed to find an early scan at a place in London for £39, this is only for 6-12 weeks pregnancies, if anyone is interested.. :)

Mumoftheark · 04/05/2017 14:40

@Newhere123 have a look on groupon there's a few offers for early scans for £39. I bought one a few days ago for a clinic in Hatfield. There was also one for Kingsbury in London if any of Jose are close to you. They generally have scans on offer quite a bit so worth keeping an eye on it.

I've had early scans with both my DC, and it was worth the £100. Although we've just got married an extra funds are on existent so can't do it this time round.
Usually the only way you get an early scan with the NHS is if you have had any bleeding or cramping then you can get an appointment at your local EPU (early pregnancy unit).
My GO has put a request in for an early scan for me as my last pregnancy was a multiple - one of which I lost at 10 weeks, and my pregnancy before that ended in MC. I'm not sure if I will get one and have the groupon one now anyway, but agree 12'weeks feels like an entire lifetime
