@fattycowagain your pictures are amazing! Congratulations.

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 07:59

Rosehyd2, the pictures are from earlier pregnancy, haven't had a scan with this one yet. Just thought it would be helpful for others to decided if and when to go for an early scan.

Kitcaty · 16/05/2017 08:02

Aww wow :) thanks for sharing your scans girls. How quickly they grow is amazing.
Eva, I'm in Devon and I've found a place that can scan from 6 weeks and it's £89. Which is alot of money not to see much. I think I'll book for 8 weeks and that's the week before my first doctor/midwife appointment. I think that's partly why I feel so worried, that no one want to see me until 9 weeks, makes it feel like they think they're wasting their time as it might not be viable:(

chocolateshortcake · 16/05/2017 08:08

@Eva30 I got married when dc1 was 10 weeks old, it was booked and then found out I was pregnant. It was an amazing day however after he was born I was trying to establish bf and also conscious that I needed to fit into my dress (also bought before pregnancy!). I was so focussed on the baby I do think I completely skipped the excitement and build up to the day. You won't know how you are going to feel obviously but if I was doing it again I would probably postpone. The main reason I didn't was that I had a lot of family coming from abroad who had already booked their flights and accommodation.

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 08:15

Kitcaty, with my first pregnancy, my first appointment was at 9 weeks too. The 9 and 12 weeks scan are from that pregnancy.
With my second, I got an appointment straight away, as according to period I should be about 8-9 weeks, but tests came back negative and only after a few weeks I had a positive one. So they decided to see me and do a scan to determine how for along I was, which turned out to be 5 weeks. No heartbeat then yet, only the pregnancy ring. Got another scan a week later to see if they could find a heartbeat and that is the 6 week scan I put here.
This time around, I'm having a scan at 7 weeks, as that is about as far as I got last time and it is for reassurance for me.

ImBreakingBad · 16/05/2017 08:17

I'm feeling hopeful RE the bloat. Glad to see some of you have got rid of it Smile.

I seem to have hit a brick wall these past few days. No matter how much I sleep it's just not enough. Preying I'm busy as hell today to take my mind of the tiredness!

ALHCTPS · 16/05/2017 08:18

@star1980 I haven't been what you've been through to conceive, but I'm 37 and also finding it really weird and discombobulating, so you're not alone. I think maybe it's an even bigger adjustment when you're older the first time. How do you work out what's a symptom and what's psychosomatic? I look exactly the same, essentially, as there'll be no sign of a bump for ages, but I've been hugely emotional and had terrible insomnia and just been all round exhausted. Yet, at times, I feel that all that could be something else - stress and bad PMT, say, and I should get a grip (as my unhelpful big sister put it) - and I wonder about doing another test to check I am indeed pregnant, but then I remember that I haven't had a period for seven weeks now, which is weird in itself after 24 years of them! It's all such new territory and nothing really prepared me.

Still, I'm feeling a bit more in control now, after weeks of hormonal rollercoasters, and, miracle of miracles, I SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT without waking up in the wee hours. Am pathetically grateful, as I deal really badly with lack of sleep (doesn't bode well), so I hope this isn't a one off.

Now, forgive me if this is TMI, but I haven't had a problem with constipation as such, but (sorry!) my poo is like tar... I'm wondering if this is because of the Floradix iron supplement I've been taking, as I tend to be borderline anaemia. Anyone had anything similar?

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 08:24

Black poo can be from iron supplements, it is quite common.

Eva30 · 16/05/2017 08:36

chocolate shortcake yeah, thats almost identical to me! Family coming from abroad so if I'm going to change I need to do it soon before they start booking flights. And same with the dress and I'd like to BF. Thanks thats really helpful - I'll probably put back to Sept

owltrousers · 16/05/2017 09:21

Mind if I join this thread?

First baby, second pregnancy.
Due Jan 4th 2018 - my birthday :)

ALHCTPS · 16/05/2017 09:41

@owltrousers I think I'm 4 Jan too. Not sure, though, as it was only my second month of keeping track of my periods, so not sure how long my cycle is.

coragreta · 16/05/2017 10:02

No GP needed. Booked straight in with midwife 31st!

Maybebaby2 · 16/05/2017 10:15

Is it too early for baby brain? I'm currently stuck in the house because I can't find my key's! Definitely blaming it on stupidity baby brain/lack of sleep! I was supposed to be in work 15 mins ago!!!

SummerHopin · 16/05/2017 10:16

Hi everyone, can I join please?

I got my BFP back on 28th April so I'm 7+1 today. I have PCOS and have had lots of tests and worries over the last 14m about whether I could ovulate. Thankfully we were given clomid recently and even more amazing we got our BFP on the first go, so I am feeling truly blessed whilst also being very aware of the pains of ttc.

We are so excited, but I am also very aware that ladies with PCOS can have a higher chance of early MC, so I'm trying to find a balance between being over the moon and keeping my feet on the ground. First scan next Tuesday which will be 8+1. I've been testing each week since I found out too - I know thats silly but sometimes the only comfort I can get is seeing that line get darker!

Sometimes I think I have no symptoms as my boobs no longer hurt that much, then I realise that I've been drinking like a fish (water obvs) lately and also my mind is completely b*ggered - I managed to take DH to the WRONG cinema at the weekend, I drove all the way to get some photos developed and forgot the memory stick, oh and I also have to turn back after leaving for work most days as I think I've left my hair straighteners on and cant get the image of a burning house out of my head! Blush

Loving reading about all your stories - especially the funny symptom ones as I dont feel quite so crazy! :) x

jellypi3 · 16/05/2017 11:23

Well sickness struck me good today on the train. Vommed on some mans head in front of me.

Yay...

flossyfloss · 16/05/2017 11:28

Oh no jelly?! What did he say?!

Rosehyd2 · 16/05/2017 12:25

Oh no jelly!! Oops.. How far along are you?

mrsb87 · 16/05/2017 12:36

Yes maybe, totally me right now. Left my wallet at home when I needed to do shopping, just daft things like losing the remote for the telly!

SJ1989 · 16/05/2017 12:42

Kitcaty I had one the other day, would of been 6+4 but measuring 7+1 could see the heart beat which is measuring at 136 beats which she said is really good, most places around here seem to be about £50 but I found it for £35 so well worth it for the reassurance

ALHCTPS · 16/05/2017 12:47

@maybebaby2 I was relieved to discover I was pregnant because I was being so deranged and stupid. Dropped my phone down the loo and lost the plot (another £100 down the drain to claim on insurance) and missed a house viewing because, instead of catching the train to Lewisham, I ended up on the way to Hastings! Nearly been run over several times, as I keep forgetting to look both ways. And I have no recollection of things my beloved says, which is more his style than mine, as I usually have an annoyingly sharp memory. I'm a liability, frankly, and had to tell several colleagues who are also friends so that they could keep an eye on me after I burst into tears at my desk when i got locked out of internet banking because i kept getting my password wrong and then lost patience with the helpful man on the phone.

ALHCTPS · 16/05/2017 12:48

Decide to buy some maternity bras and they've just arrived. Went into the disabled loos at work and took photos for my beloved, as they seem to be a cross between trainer bras and old lady bras. Sexy!

Eva30 · 16/05/2017 14:14

Oh no jelly!! How far along are you?
ALH you moving house?

rabbitstail · 16/05/2017 14:14

I knew I was pregnant when I forgot my pin for my credit card! I had to call and get it re set...

flyingsprocket · 16/05/2017 14:24

Oh no jelly poor you!

I have had baby brain since conception if that's possible. I've been leaving stuff everywhere, losing things & generally losing my mind! I think I'll book an early scan for 8 weeks, I had one on the NHS last time due to previous MC but I don't know if I'll get one this time round. I'll wait til booking in and see what the midwife says.

ALHCTPS · 16/05/2017 14:34

@eva30 Yup, moving house. Hoped to have it sorted before, but two purchases now have fallen through late in the process. Just what I need - extra stress! Really don't want to move post-baby. I want to nest NOW. There has to be something fun to compensate for all the horrible symptoms.
