Hi Kitcaty, I'm pretty certain we will have it although I've read 8 weeks is best as they can detect a heartbeat and you might be able to see something. It's about £140 near me - for me the reassurance is worth it.

ifeellikechickentonight · 15/05/2017 18:44

I don't think YABU Elle, it's one day to share a massive life changing piece of news

Can I ask what you saw at your scan pickled, did they see the heartbeat? I have one booked for next weds when I'll be 7+3 but I think 7+1 might be more accurate

Kirsty157 · 15/05/2017 18:54

@Elle I don't think you're being unreasonable either. This is a really special part of your pregnancy, and you should be able to do it your way. Your DH needs to try and separate his work stress from your domestic life, getting out for the day might be good for both of you 😊

@Kitcaty I have a scan booked for Saturday. I'll be 7+5 and hopeful I'll see a tiny heartbeat. Booked mine privately for some reassurance after last pg ended in MC. I found a clinic in Birmingham that does it for £50.

ElleMcElle · 15/05/2017 19:03

Thanks for the responses all - I will ease off for a few days, as he's had an absolute s**t-show at work today and it was probably not the best time to bring it up. But I do really want to tell them face to face.

Really hope my own work eases up soon too - I'm facing a 1am / 2am finish tonight and feeling guilty about my stress levels. Which of course makes me more stressed. Ugh.

@Kitcaty We've booked a scan for when I'll be 8+3 - just for a bit of reassurance. I've also read that you can hopefully detect the heartbeat by then.

Kitcaty · 15/05/2017 19:12

Thank everyone. I can't wait to see something to reassure me. I'll try and gold off until 8 weeks

JB1983 · 15/05/2017 19:18

Kitcaty we have a reassurance scan booked for 8 weeks. I'm so impatient it can't come quick enough! We will probably tell my parents and the in laws after that and everyone else after 12weeks.

elle it would be lovely if you and DH could tell your parents face to face but would it be an option for you to go by yourself to tell them if DH is too busy with work?

Glad your scan went ok purple

Hope the anti-sickness medication kicks in soon ra00

purplechoc · 15/05/2017 19:19

I go on holiday for 3 weeks when I'm just less than 7 so going to go a couple of days before for reassurance and hope for the best. Plan to tell our parents just before we go too so would be good to have that reassurance. Will need to do my best to remember that we may not see a heart beat!

coragreta · 15/05/2017 19:20

Kitcaty. I had one at 7+3 in a previous pregnancy. Saw a little blob with a tiny blob In The middle which was pulsing in and out. It was amazing to see the heart beat.
I had that to check for ectopic (it wasn't) I'm thinking of booking one for this pregnancy. Found one for £75. I think it's worth it for peace of mind.

Maybebaby2 · 15/05/2017 19:38

Purplepoppy if it comes back again like that I definitely will go and get it checked out.

imbreaking didn't have much joy in Holland and Barratt because they can't advise pregnant women to take any of their branded products! So I ended up doing quick Internet search and came home with sesame seeds, Flaxseed and Peppermint oil... not sure what I'm going to do with any of it but if I notice a difference I'm totally not expecting it to make any difference at all I'll let you know!

ellemc if it came down to it would you go on your own to see your parents? If you would then you could make plans to go and then he might end up going with you last minute rather than see you go on your own?

pickled thats fab about your scan!

ra00 feel better soon, great that you are being looked after. Flowers

Lolly34h · 15/05/2017 20:21

Got my bfp today very early day 3 +4 due January 25th if it all goes ok. This is dc 3 and I had a miscarriage in march z

PurplePoppySeed · 15/05/2017 20:32

Omg ra00 just caught up on your messages, glad you saw someone - are they keeping you in? Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Glad your scan went well too pickled

Kitcaty thinking about your question, I think certainly 6 weeks is too early to feel really reassured, it was great to see a heartbeat today but really it was just a slightly whiter pulsing blur on top of a grey blur in a big black blob! I'm no less anxious as I miscarried later than this in my first pregnancy. I'd go with the others, 8 weeks seems more sensible.

PurplePoppySeed · 15/05/2017 20:32

Congrats lolly and all other new joiners xx

mrsb87 · 15/05/2017 21:33

kitcaty no early scans here, you don't see a lot really..plus it's a lot of money to spend! I think if you have had previous mc then totally go for it.

star1980 · 16/05/2017 06:31

Hello ladies, can I tentatively join you? Got my first ever bfp on Saturday after 31 months trying! We had mild male factor infertility, plus I have fibroids which my consultant says would not affect my fertility. Anyway it's a long journey - been on super expensive supplements since last Jan to try and improve the sperm, 3 rounds of clomid last summer which didn't work and a disastrous ivf round in Jan which was cancelled because I over-responded. Was just waiting for af to start my second ivf and tested when two days late and got a bfp. I'm so regular, and it had been so long, the only pregnancy tests in the house go out of date this month!

Anyway, just wanted to ask whether anyone else has constant anxiety about both symptoms and lack of symptoms? Yesterday I was freaking out from an on and off dull pain lower left abdomen, this morning I wake up and my boobs don't feel so tender anymore, and the pain has moved to the right and lessened. I keep googling chance of miscarriage and other bad news stories. I'm only 4+4! I'm going mad, how will I get through 9 months?!

Oh and I'm 36 and due 18 Jan!

pickledsausage · 16/05/2017 07:00

@ifeellikechicken I thought I was 7+3 but he put me back to 7+1, we could see baby (a fuzzy blob!), feeding sac & heartbeat pounding away. If you have no mc history and can wait id say wait until 8/9 as you can definitely see more then.

Ahh @star congratulations, what a long wait you've had. Total anxiety about symptoms coming/going here too etc, most stuff is absolutely normal. Try to keep busy. Do you do any yoga? Deep breathing/meditation has helped me loads xx

Rosehyd2 · 16/05/2017 07:18

Hi @star congratulations on the bfp. I've found the best thing to do is to try and keep occupied as it's just a waiting game now.
I'm 4+4 as well, due approx 21 Jan, and have my first appointment with the GP on 31 May. I'm going to go for a private scan at 8 weeks though for reassurance.
I have lots of aching going on in waves and when it's not there I think I may have imagined them!

Eva30 · 16/05/2017 07:33

Hey and congrats to all those with recent bfps!
Imbreakingbad I had that bloating solo bad last week, I looked about 4 months gone. I have no remedies I'm afraid but it has gone now, week later.
purple you saw a heartbreak - so exciting! Glad it went well
pickled fab news with the scan
Elle I'd want to tell them in person too. In the grand scheme of things 2.5 hour drive isn't that bad - I spend that stuck in traffic some nights on the way home from work!! However you both sound like you have a lot on, is there any chance they could come to you? Any birthdays coming up that you could make a big deal of?

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 07:35

If it is any help for people debating when to go for an early scan, I can post pictures of both 6 weeks and 9 weeks. There is such an incredible difference!

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 07:41

Six weeks. The grey long blob at the top of the black circle, between the pluses, is the pregnancy. Heartbeat was visible on the scan, but that was it.

Eva30 · 16/05/2017 07:42

kitcaty I've booked a scan at 8 weeks they said you can hear the heartbeat. It is only £50. Where are you based?

star your story is amazing - congratulations! And I thought my wait of 14m for a bfp was long haha!! Yes I'm a worrier, trying my best to relax, lots of early nights and healthy food to feel like I'm putting good nutrients in!

I've got an awful cold and sneezing 30 tines a day, anyone else? I read nasal congestion is common because the blood vessel swell to help the blood supply during pg. I'm learning something new every day.

I'm booked to get married in may 2018. Baby due Jan 2018, so thinking of putting it back. would sept 18 be better do you think? This is first baby so no idea how I'll feel 4 or 8 months after baby.

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 07:43

Here is 9 weeks. Loads bigger!

January 2018 babies!
Eva30 · 16/05/2017 07:45

fattycow wow you're right about that. What a cute little bean at 9 weeks. Difficult to see much at 6.

Fattycowagain · 16/05/2017 07:45

And 12 weeks, just to complete the picture and show the incredible growth!

January 2018 babies!
coragreta · 16/05/2017 07:46

Congrats star.
This might sound like a stupid question but do I need a GP appointment or can I book straight in with the midwife? Last time I already had a gp appointment but was told to just phone for a midwife one.

Rosehyd2 · 16/05/2017 07:57

I phoned my doctors to ask what happens next and they advised a doctors appointment then midwife appointment. It may be because it's my first, not sure. I'd suggest ringing your local surgery as they may do things slightly differently.
