@Rustler74 I've never flown with our main pram. Far too many stories of friends expensive prams getting damaged. We've used a cheaper umbrella fold buggy (there are ones that lie flat) and then it doesn't hurt so much when they get bent. You can usually take them right up to the gate when boarding. They shouldn't charge for buggy or car seat but check the individual airline. Usually you don't get luggage allowance for a baby as they don't get a seat. But depends who you fly with.

savagehk · 23/04/2017 09:01

Re car seats / luggage / prams it depends entirely on the airline what's free and also what's allowed in the cabin.

Personally we never used a pram, a sling / carrier is much easier in airports esp Security and useful onboard (although I've had to take him out sometimes). Prams can often be 'gate checked' but then still go in the hold. We've had a broken pushchair that way. Car seats are usually not allowed in the cabin unless they're used on a seat.

Technically you can use a car seat in the plane as a seat for baby but you'd need to pay for a seat and often cabin crew get picky even if you've checked in advance and it's ok.

Some airlines give you an extra luggage allowance on top of the car seat/pram/travel cot too (usually 10kg or an extra cabin bag) but it's all very variable.

FoxMulder · 23/04/2017 09:04

We are quite a long way from hospital savage so it would be a long bumpy journey on my own. Confused Would be a nightmare if the baby wasn't with me! Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

EsmesBees · 23/04/2017 09:17

That's a mad policy about newborns and ambulances, especially since they are allowed in taxis. Yes fingers crossed no transfer needed fox

Wish hope you got some more sleep and things are moving in the right direction. Not long now!

Taking my toddler up town for the day to watch DH run the marathon. So lots of traveling and standing so expecting to be knackered by the end. But feeling so so proud. He's doing it to raise money for the cancer my mum had and it would have meant the world to her. I've not been the most supportive wife recently as I've resented the amount of time the training has taken him away from me and DD. Which I feel bad about now as he's doing such an amazing thing. Will be glad when it's all over though.

Autumnsweater · 23/04/2017 09:17

teainbed I'm enjoying the boring stats keep them up! I need to get more newborn size nappies Grin only have a 24 pack in so far.

Southpole welcome! I'm impressed, how lovely of you.

Bean everything you've said on here makes you sound like a lovely mum. Both my Dad and FiL had rubbish upbringings and FiL didn't know his dad at all, but they both ended up being brilliant Dads themselves.

DH is getting so excited about the baby's arrival! I am more sick of being pregnant/nervous these days so it's nice to have his excitement to make me remember the big positive at the end. I put a towel under my side of the bed last night and mentioned it to him this morning and he got all gooey-eyed HmmGrin, daft sod!

Autumnsweater · 23/04/2017 09:21

Esme I have two friends running in the marathon today in aid of our local hospice, so I have some idea of the training involved, I probably would have been grumpy too if it were my DH tbh with the timing of it, but it's an amazing achievement to be there and a great cause! Good luck to him and hope you enjoy the day, it's a good atmosphere I hear.

Barnes79 · 23/04/2017 09:33

Baby's nursery is finally getting there but set up the gro egg to check the temperature and it's too cold! Any tips on how to manage the temperature? DH wants to buy an oil filled plug in radiator but I just don't trust plug in radiators (or heated oil in a room with an eventually crawling baby) and he doesn't want the central heating on in the whole house due to cost. I suggested turning down the radiators in the other rooms but he doesn't think I'll bother to actually do that which to be honest is probably true Any other ideas?

WishIWasSleeping · 23/04/2017 09:44

So I haven't caught up, but just checking in.
Baby Boy Wish arrived at 4am this morning after waters breaking at 12:30 Friday morning. 8lb6oz and I am soooo glad we didn't go any further towards due date!
I'm currently still in delivery suite due to a slightly larger than normal bleed, and the fact I haven't peed enough yet. No stitches, just a graze apparently however - it hurts like aAngryAngryAngryAngry to pee and they are threatening catheter if I don't! I've had an extra fluid bag and doctors are happy if I pee I can go to the ward and probably home this evening. x

Barnes79 · 23/04/2017 09:53

Congratulations wish! FlowersWill keep my fingers crossed for your pee BlushConfused

FoxMulder · 23/04/2017 09:59

Congratulations wish!! Pee pee pee! Does squirting water from a bottle when you go help at all?

CoxsOrangePippin · 23/04/2017 10:09

Wonderful news wish!

BouncingBlueberry · 23/04/2017 10:10

Yay congratulations wish! Sending comfortable pee wishes to you! Xx

lullaby23 · 23/04/2017 10:10

Congratulations wish lovely to hear and another big boy for 37 weeks! Good luck with the peeing and enjoy the snuggles.

rustler we air travelled from when DS was 8 weeks old. Checked in car seat and brought Babyzen Yoyo onto the plane with us as it folds small and can fit in the overhead locker. Agree you would need to check airline for specific baggage allowances.

Rustler74 · 23/04/2017 10:11

Congratulations and welcome to this world WishBaby. Let's hope you can go home tonight @WishIWasSleeping so you can make the insomnia worth it looking at your little shining star x was it a surprise?

wish huge congratulations!! How wonderful to have your little man with you safe and sound. Fingers crossed for a comfortable wee very soon!!

Thanks for sharing plan bean. I have bookmarked yours and others to help my brain! Sounds like you guys had a fab time at hen do, lucky little girl :)

Hello south Smile What a wonderful thing to do for someone. Glad pregnancy is going well.

I love the stats tea! Very useful. That's 7.3 nappies per day :)

esme what a special (and exhausting and emotional!) day! Hope it goes all smoothly and then you get your DH back.

autumn that's so sweet, DH sounds like a good un!
Mine was out (long eve, hard to get to punk gig. No I did not want to go!) last night and sending text updates about how everyone sends their love and checking up on me. When he got in he snuggled up to bump and was saying how good it was to talk to so many old friends he hadn't seen for ages with kids telling him how much they love it. Bless.

newbieho · 23/04/2017 10:19

@WishIWasSleeping congratulations on your little boy arrival and fingers crossed for a pee 😉

@teainbed thanks for the stats, I am going to check the newborn nappies stock in the cupboard.

@EsmesBees Good luck for your DH with the marathon!

Is anyone else feeling knackered? I am 37+2 and having 10-12 hours sleep/nap per day, did not even wake up for a wee. Feeling nauseous is back and I am so fed up with it. Baby is still active so I don't want to call to triage unnecessary. I am going to see MW on Wed, maybe she can help.

Autumnsweater · 23/04/2017 10:20

YAY congratulations Wish!! Sounds like he was ready to come out now at that weight!
Think of waterfalls....
Would be lovely to hear more of your birth story, if/when you want to share.

ClaireSunflower · 23/04/2017 10:23

Congratulations @WishIWasSleeping! Hope you manage to get out of hospital soon Flowers

lullaby23 · 23/04/2017 10:27

Good luck mr esme for the marathon!

Northernexile · 23/04/2017 10:36

Hi everyone, congratulations wish! That's a great weight, hopefully you will get out today! That's three boys on the thread now is it?
babynorthern and I are hoping to get out today too, we've had two nights here now but it hasn't been too bad. I feel pretty good post-section, and he has been a real star, feeding and sleeping really well. He looks very like his bigger sister.
I'm struggling to get to grips with changing a boy- he keeps soaking everything in pee while we are changing his nappy! 😂

Huge congratulations @WishIWasSleeping well done you! Hope you get the all clear for home later. Flowers

Oh he is gorgeous @Northernexile hope you're enjoying him. Smile

teainbed · 23/04/2017 10:50

How cold is it @Barnes79 ? Like really chilly? Is the baby going to sleep in your room for a bit or in the nursery?

@Badgerbird yes with a nappy change every 3 hours or so, sounds about right when you say it like that.

lullaby23 · 23/04/2017 10:56

Lovely pic Northern 😍

MrsJW15 · 23/04/2017 11:12

Congratulations Wish! And gorgeous pic Northern.

Interesting thoughts on travelling with the buggy. We are going to Portugal for a wedding in August and had planned to take ours. But it's not something I want to damage!

newbieho · 23/04/2017 11:14

@Northernexile he is super cute and has got a lot of hair 😍
