Hello everyone, hope it's sunny wherever you are, I feel so much more upbeat about everything today! Not been too down but DP is away in New Zealand with work so I'm having a few lonely moments (and feeling v jealous of him).

Lizziemun - so sorry about your dad, love to you all xx

I've got my first mw appointment on Thursday, I haven't felt anything yet so I'm getting a bit nervous, which is completely silly I know - I'm only 17 weeks so it's still only a peanut really. I don't really have a bump either, I just look fat, which is really annoying! Bought some maternity clothes yesterday though, I look a lot more pregnant when I put them on weirdly.

We've got the 20-week scan on 5th, we didn't think they'd tell us the sex but the hospital has just changed the policy so we can find out. Not sure what to do, we don't have any preference but it might be nice to think of the bump as a girl or boy instead of an it. Hope baby is being cooperative and lying in the right place!

Tokentotty - might be nice to confirm it, would be a bit of a shock if you think of it as a girl and then a boy pops out!

tokentotty · 12/03/2007 11:55

Yup, is beautifully sunny from my viewpoint over at Canary Wharf. Makes me feel so much better when I look out and see blue sky instead of bl**dy rain !! Thanks for clearing that up about the scan. Mine's late as well as I'm away when I'm 20 weeks but if I was having to wait until the NHS one I'd be 23 weeks ! Think we might find out what flavour Peanut is as I think you're right Katybird, would be a BIG surprise to have had the idea it was a girl all this time only to be wrong.
I think I'm passed the point of no return bumpwise. Definitely no hiding mine unless I really am in something loose. You're right about maternity wear making it more defined though I think.

BabyMadwithBump · 12/03/2007 12:04

Hi all, plodding along that's how I feel , so big now, baby's movements are so strong that at times it make's me jump . 19+3 today I'll be having my scan next Monday see if little one is okay and growing how it should, I really do think it is as I'm so big I'll have to post a pic this week, but also I will be finding out weather boy or girl or too much sage and onion, LOL. Been buying MAT-clothes but still finding that normal clothes are too small but MAT-clothes still to big . Still very emotional at times I knew it was coming but still was a shock, I was very emotional with my boys too but still it'll be over before I know it, hormones hay! I got some cream from the doctor as I have very bad skin seem to be working which is great. I really love food, jacket potatoes are my fav at the moment and I'm drinking loads and loads of water too, I was just over 7 and half stone before PG and at the beginning of PG I put on a few lb's but then went down to just over 7 stone due to MS and now I'm 8 and half stone, but at the end of my last PG I put on 2 and half stone, tuck me a year to lose the added lbs, still he was worth it! Been getting nose bleeds lately, as well as feeling breathless and uncomfortable already. Hope everyone is fine and well, Babymadxx

Hi TT. Looks like the others have answered your question. In my area they say it is done between 20 and 22 weeks but I guess this is so that people don't complain if they don't get it dead on 20 weeks.

Katybird - I found that I just looked fat in my normal clothes and pregnant in my maternity clothes. I put it down to them being stretchy and going over my bump rather than sitting on what used to be my waist.

conkertree · 12/03/2007 14:04

hi everyonw - yes agree too about mat clothes looking better. have been in mat work trousers for a couple of weeks, and now into mat jeans too. no tops yet, but think that will be quite soon as i noticed my normal top today is looking a bit funny.

have 20 week scan next monday too but dont think we will ask about the flavour. dont mind if we see something, but if not, am happy to wait for the surprise. have finally thought of a boys name we like so now am totally happy to have either (not that i wasnt before but just was put off a boy because really couldnt think of a name we really liked).

katybird · 12/03/2007 14:55

The mat trousers I got yesterday are so comfortable! They actually make me look thinner front-on because they smoothe everything out - genius. Still searching for perfect mat jeans though - I bought a pair from H&M that fit ok but they're a bit big at the back of the waist. Have to put some weight on there too - good excuse for chocolate when my ms fades!

We've not talked much about names yet. I have a few I like but nothing that I love. DP wants Logan for a boy, which I like, but it's because that's the name of his favourite X-Man - can I face the ridicule?

tokentotty · 12/03/2007 15:00

So you've experienced the sheer pleasure of putting on clothes that feel comfortable !! I couldn't believe how much better I felt until I'd been in 'normal' stuff all day which was driving me nuts and then changed into some maternity stuff that I'd had delivered. Was like I was floating on air!

katybird · 12/03/2007 15:12

I've been trying to avoid wearing anything to work that makes me look pregnant, but I might have to bite the bullet for comfort! I know it's stupid because it's not like I can hide it for much longer but I hate being public property, I've told my mates at work and I can't face going through the "So you're pregnant" "Um, yes" conversation with anyone else. Maybe I'm in denial!

Babbit · 12/03/2007 15:21

Hi all.

Haven't posted for ages and it is very busy on here and don't have time to catch up. Hope everyone is feeling well. I am still tired, but I remember from last time, I never got that burst of energy people talk about. I am beginning to think that is a myth...

Someone asked about 20 week / anomoly scans and yes, they are the same thing. I have mine at 24 weeks though! Bless the NHS. Am def not going to find out the flavour. I really don't mind which, and although it would be nice to know, I think I will regret not having the surprise.

Struggling with boys names at the mo. I have found girls names easy and we have a definite, but boys are soooo hard. All the more unusual ones sound a bit pretentious when I say them aloud.

At a glance I can see holidays are on the agenda. I can't wait for the summer!

Hope all are well.

tokentotty · 12/03/2007 15:24

Babbit - do I remember correctly that you were going to Whipps X too ? If so, then yes, when I mentioned about being 23 weeks for my NHS scan it was there too.... I spoke to the lady who does the bookings and she said that it was all the Christmas pregnancies that clog up the system at this time of year !!

katybird · 12/03/2007 15:31

I've heard the same from my hospital, Barnet, they're really behind with appointments - everyone gets lusty at Christmas!!

Babbit · 12/03/2007 15:34

lol yes Whipps and she told me the same thing!!

Midwife has told me to ring around 20 weeks as I might be able to get a cancellation. Tbh am not too worried, but will see how I feel nearer the time. TT, are you still going to have your Whipps 20 week or just your private scan?

BabyMadwithBump · 12/03/2007 15:37

katybird My DS#1 is called "Zavier" out of x-men but I did charge it from an "X" to a "Z", but school have thanked me for that due to the "Z" sound, IYSWIM!

conkertree We dont care weather baby is a boy or a girl, we only want to find out for money reason's and the fact my boys ONLY want a sister (and the fact we just cant wait LOL).

DH and I couldn't agree at all on a boys name but yesterday I said "what about * for a boy" he liked it now we both LOVE it so we've sent that one in stone, we have a bout 3-4 girls names that we just love and I've said that if we do have a girl we'll just wait till she is born then see which one she loooks like!

tokentotty · 12/03/2007 15:37

I'm just going to have the private scan this time. When they're so clogged up it didn't seem right to take an appointment from someone else no matter how nice it is to see lo there on the screen. Can't deny how much I am looking forward to my scan though and still very of all those with loads of movement that they can feel.

katybird · 12/03/2007 16:18

BabyMad - I'm glad I'm not the only one with an X-Men obsessed partner! My mum is a nursery teacher and she finds some of the alternative spellings quite amusing (like Hayley, Hailey, Halie, Haylie, Haylee...), so I've got to be careful what I pick.

I'm also v , I've felt things that might be movement but they're probably just gas and stretching pains!

tokentotty · 12/03/2007 16:23

BabyMadwithBump · 12/03/2007 16:40

I love star wars names, me and DS's are big star wars fan's DH doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about when I talk about star wars, and it was me that picked the x-men name for DH#1, I wanted "Ki" for a boy last time and we agreed on "Kyle" as I still get to call him "Ki" ! Girls name we say yes "so and so name" then a few weeks later I dont like it .
