My DH has turned into the dessert police since my midwife's last visit . She said that sweet things and 'treats' should be saved for the weekends as I don't want to be getting gestational diabetes etc etc... He's nagging me bl**dy senseless and getting right on my wick !

jem1969 · 14/03/2007 12:31

very nice bump

In my team we all try and cover up our bumps at work ever since overhearing our boss saying in a really slimey voice to someone over the phone that they'd have to come and visit to see his 'gorgeous sexy pregant wife'. He loves it when one of his team gets pg as thinks that women are only really proper women if they have given birth. Kind of man who tells you (in the lift with other people at work) about his wife's periods and how she's still very sore after labour- yuck yuck yuck.

BTW- not that there's anything wrong with a man thinking his pregnant wife is sexy- just not very nice to hear your boss saying it..

Hersetta · 14/03/2007 12:31

Hi TT,

Didn't mention yesterday that I loved the dress too. i did actually prefer teh cream too - gold accessories would look fab with it too.

Nice bump too !! I keep stamnding in front of the mirror and sticking my tummy out but all I see is my chubby tummy - no bump at all.

Bit tired today as we were at casualty until the early hours as my hubby seems to have started internal bleeding again. Blood tests proved that he was just above the lower limit where they would admitted him to hospital, so they just sent him home!! No medicine, nothing. Just a come back if you're feeling lightheaded or dizzy !! WTF!! So i can see a return trip again this weekend.

I've been lazy lately too. i keep saying I'm going to go to the gym and go swimming but I'm so knackered all the time at the moment that I can't quite work up the energy to go.

jem1969 · 14/03/2007 12:34

TT- I get nagged about eating bloody fish- I know I'm meant to but don't want to be told all the time. I keep telling him I've been having very healthy lunches so I can pig out a bit in the evening. Not strictly true but never mind!

tokentotty · 14/03/2007 12:36

Oh H that's a nightmare. Bl**dy doctors. How is DH feeling at the mo?

My manager's boss asked me the other week if I was going to be wearing 'fitted clothes' through my pg - admitted he found pg women very sexy yeah, thanks for that ! Good job we've known each other years and I can just say 'p*ss off you perv!!'. As for your boss Jem and his discussion of his wife's more intimate details - not something I'd ever want to know, and would probably point this out too

tokentotty · 14/03/2007 12:38

Jem - put yourself on Mumomega from Boots, gives you all necessary fish oils etc so should help get DH off your back about that a bit.

katybird · 14/03/2007 12:42

Hope your hubby's ok, Hersetta.

jem1969 - your boss sounds so creepy!

Itchy - I've always worn underwired bras but they're definitely making life more comfortable at the moment (I'm a 32E normally so you can imagine how much I'm looking forward to getting bigger, 34FF already and I'm only 17 weeks...).

jem1969 · 14/03/2007 12:46

tt- will look at that mumomega but the annoying thing is I eat lots of fish anyway...bloody men

tokentotty · 14/03/2007 12:46

Sweet baby Jesus Katybird ! And remember - most women go up 2 sizes when their milk comes in! That'll leave me at about a G and you...XXXXXXX You'll have to be careful not to lose your new lo in them !
And no, am not wearing underwire anymore which is weird as have never worn anything else. Was told not to early on as can damage the tissue of changing/sensitive breasts or something.

itchyncsratchy · 14/03/2007 12:55

Ah good news about the fish oils I haven't been able to tolerate any fish or seafood since early weeks
Oh gosh katybird! Hope you're using plenty stretch cream!

Washersaurus · 14/03/2007 12:56

After breastfeeding DS until he was 11/12 mths the underwire in my bra is probably the only thing holding me together .

Not looking forward to digging out those frumpy Emma-Jane bra's (or whatever they were)

Washersaurus · 14/03/2007 12:58

I missed the chat last week - can anyone tell me the name of that book about having a house in my tummy?? Was looking for something for DS to show him a bit nearer the time.

Washersaurus · 14/03/2007 13:05

God I am sooo lazy - I have just found it!

Will have to go and get some fish oils I think...I can't stand the smell of fish at the moment

Hersetta · 14/03/2007 13:11

He's OK in himself - just thoroughly pissed off that this is dragging on and on with no immediate sign of a resolution. He's got an appointment tomorrow with the consultant who took stomach biopsies last week so hopefully we might get some answers then.

I'm still waering underwires at the mo - went up a cup size in the first 6 weeks (from a B to a C wooo hooo!!) so I now officially have more than a handful - according to dh anyway!

tokentotty · 14/03/2007 13:55

Oh Wash...you're really selling the idea of a long breastfeeding period so well !!
H, I'm glad DH isn't getting too down about this all but can totally understand the frustration of being messed around. I think the thing to do is take no nonsense when he sees the consultant. What he's going through is NOT acceptable and neither is the treatment of him.

lovelybird · 14/03/2007 14:12

Afternoon all, DS has conjunctivitis so I'm off work today looking after him. If anyone knows the name of the book to read with DS about mummy having a house in her tummy? then I'd love to get it to read with DS. I have a big bump now and really look pregnant, I'm going to be so huge come august. Really looking forward to the 20 week scan, although mine will be at 21 weeks so DH can come with me. Felt the baby move for the first time yesterday so was very happy about that as I was getting paranoid. Hope you're all OK.

Washersaurus · 14/03/2007 14:19

OK OK I admit it - I was only jesting about my wayward bosoms! They are still lovely and pert and are even a bit bigger than before bf

Washersaurus · 14/03/2007 14:21

Lovelybird I have just ordered that book from amazon, it is called - There's a house inside my mummy by Giles Andreae. I have also ordered a couple of others which had good recommendations.

redtent · 14/03/2007 15:21

washersaurus and lovelybird- we LOVE LOVE LOVE that book and the ds's are having the treat of seeing the baby on the Hospitals TV on Friday!!

All going well here- quite busy but going ok.....

I just can't wait for baby to be here then I can stop pannicing about m/c again. Pregnancy is defo not the same for me this time around.

katybird · 14/03/2007 15:35

Good lord TT, I knew they'd get bigger but if I go up another 2 cup sizes I'll be bigger than Jordan... Definitely have to invest in some extra-strength stretch cream.

tokentotty · 14/03/2007 15:44

And scaffolding....

stretchmarks · 14/03/2007 18:57

HI All,

Been busy with work this week so just trying to catch up with you all.

Hersetta - sorry to hear about your DH sounds like the hospital are not being particularly helpful.

Tokentotty your bump looks great unfortunatley mine is not so beautifully defined due to the extra layer of insulation I carry around it !!!!

I am still in underwired bras and have no intention of giving them up this pregnancy. Mine never shrank after breastfeeding DS infact they went up in size although my back size shrunk to a 32. I am now so big there is only a limited selection I can chose from at Bravissimo .

Tokentotty - dress is lovely I am still looking for one for the weddings I have this year. Did find a georgeous one on Formes website with a sheer wrap/shirt thing and although I loved the dress didn't love the price £300 in total.

Ordered some maternity jeans last week from jojomamanbebe allegedly same leg length as my normal jeans but unless I have lost about 4 inches in height during this pregnancy I don't know what was happening with them

Is anyone else counting down until their maternity leave or is it just me who is desperate to get away from work for a while !!!!

AlexMum · 14/03/2007 22:09

Can I join you?

My name's Liese, I'm 36 and #2 is due on 28th August (probably, although this has been moved from 7 September so who knows).

conkertree · 15/03/2007 09:08

hi alexmum and everyone else - man this thread was busy yesterday. Didn't get a chance to get on all day.

That dress is lovely. I have a wedding coming up in four weeks and would love something like that, but just no way i could afford that much just now - have started a wee list of things to buy before the baby gets here and although we are trying to stick to the minimum, its still a fair size of list.

have felt the baby moving more definately now - although its still sometimes so quick that i'm not sure it was a definite kick.

scan on monday - cant wait.

i've been wearing underwired bras for a few weeks now, but think i need to get a couple more - might go and get measured properly this weekend. Anyone else getting really itchy nipples? i have dry skin anyway but very much worse in that area since getting pg - bought some aptly named nipple cream so that helps.

pinkranger · 15/03/2007 09:44

Good Morning ladies, and welcome alexmum.

Last night me and dh went to an open eveing at the local hospital that was about childbirth, we didnt do anything like that with ds but thought we would like to know more this time round and well all i can say is that im soooooo glad to be going for a home birth!!!! There were stalls with people from local companies that were great, NCT, avent that kind of thing and also someone from the Real nappie company and they has even made us consider going in to use real nappies!! alot easier to use then i first thought and overal alot cheaper!

Also am going to have a birthing pool as they only cost £60 for 2 weeks - thought it would be more expesisive than that!!

But we then got round to touring the labour ward ( dont think none of you love by me so dont panick) , all looked very clean and nice but midwife then told us that they have only 2 bathrooms for post and pre natal so you basically have to put your name down on a list and take your turn for a shower , then progressed to say how short staff they were and how resources were being cut - you could see the panick on some of the ladies faces. Then one ladies ask how long they saty in for after the birth, midwife replied
" well lets be honest its not very nice in here, you want to be in and out in the quickest time possible"

totally in sock by this, if i was a first time mum having it therre i would now be shitting myself!!!

anyway gone on for ages!!
