Just thought I'd better kick a new one off...
Another day, another tearful outburst at work! It's getting very embarrassing Is it just me who feels like crying at the drop of a hat? Maybe it's lack of sleep, just not dealing very well with things that would not normally bother me, then something really small sets me off. cried in the toilets for 20 minutes today! Can't even explain why. Is this normal still at this stage?

and if it were Justin I'd be worried .....

or Chris from CBeebies ....

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 17:25

I have to say I've had the odd sneaky lager, but it says here that I'm allowed!! I've only had 3 bottles in 25 weeks though!!

Mmmm...if it were Justin I would go and see someone!

justbeme · 11/03/2007 17:33

Me too - had some cider last night, but have found that im not really into alcohol much , esp wine , it seems too alcoholic!!
Prob have had 1 unit every other week or two. Just looked at the food advice website - why cant babies under 1 have honey??

foxybrown · 11/03/2007 17:35

i'm thinking a lazy sunny afternoon in a pub beer garden, with the papers, a packet of Marlborough lights and a few pints!! oh its torture!
I'm not worried about the whole drinking thing, i'd stopped before I got pregnant - if I'm not going to have a stonking hangover, i'd rather not - an all or nothing girl me!
Am also ignoring advice on soft eggs and soft cheese. Well, its number 4, things have gotten slack.
(Not literally)

(Well, a bit maybe)

foxybrown · 11/03/2007 17:36

something to do with botchelism (apologies for spelling) i think

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 17:54

You are funny foxy !! Bit bored, just reading some random threads and found some that you've posted on...lol!! I love mumsnet, it never fails to make me chuckle! I particularly like the "do you need any testers" post pmsl!

bumperlicious · 11/03/2007 18:12

Foxy, just read your post - "do you have personal space issues...?" WTF! I'd be like, do you have personal space issues or can I kick you in the goolies. Oh, i'm so indignant on your behalf! Oh! OH! Ok, calming down now, I seem to spend a lot of time being indignant at the moment. I just can't believe that certain people are allowed to exist in my presence, they are so rude. That's better.

Anyway, I actually had a really nice afternoon. On a complete whim I went to B&Q and bought a big pot and planted some lavender and hyacinths in it. Actually, I went to B&Q and said to one of the staff "I need your help, but please don't laugh at me or I will cry - I want a pot and stuff to plant in it, but haven't a clue where to start, can you help me?!" So this lovely guy got me a pot, gave me a huge bag of compost for £2 as it was torn open and helped me chose some plants then put it in my car for me. I then had a nice little time putting my plants in and am still on a little bit of a high about it. That sounds v sad but never done anything like that before, we only have a communal garden, hence the pot, and am feeling v green-fingered (actually still a bit black from the soil!) but get me - I'm a gardener!

H&A are you stalking my posts?! Any I've contributed to in the last 48 hours have been about sex! I particularly liked the one which asked for one tip to wow her partner with last night. Her update said she stuffed herself with maltesers and fell asleep without so much as a good night kiss! pmsl

Am bored, DP been working away, house is a tip. Time to tidy.

foxybrown · 11/03/2007 18:27

Thanks for your indignation Bumper! was a bit shocked and wasn't sure what he was going on about at first!
Am going to copy you - needed to go to Homebase tomorrow anyway, Am going to buy lavender too. Not sure what a hyacinth is so won't get that. I have a garden. Well, its a mud slide. Needs returfing, so am going to chuck a load of grass seed down and hope for the best.

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 18:49

I grew some veggies last year and I nurtured them from seed and loved them. I grew some broad beans, courgettes, peas, carrots and tomatoes. I grew them in little pots on my windowsils and they were like my children! I put them in the garden when they got big enough and in the morning I woke up to utter carnage! I decided to be some kind of hippy and grow them organically, big mistake! The slugs had eaten everything down to the ground! The only things left were the tomatoes. I was so upset I cried ! This year I shall be using slug bait and killing as many of the evil f*ckers as I can!! I really want to go into the garden and pick my own veggies. I am pretty sad!

I haven't been stalking your posts foxy, honest! I just was reading some of the sex ones as they make me laugh and you kept popping up! You naughty girl!

annobal · 11/03/2007 18:53

Ooh - we went to Homebase at lunchtime. Lawns mowed and beds turned over with lovely new plants put in. It has taken us all day though and my back is now killing me!!

I do get a lot of "you're going to have your hands full" - especially as DS2 is going through a very defiant stage at the moment and keeps running off on me. Let's hope this phase is over by the time DS3 arrives.

foxybrown · 11/03/2007 19:07

Ahh, you'd have only baked them in a homemade quiche anyway H&A
And if only I was that sexy vixen I once was ... DH wishes! He only sees me bloated in pj's these days! Oh well, no-one to blame but himself. And he wants 5 kids!! (Absolutely bloody well not!)

You'd better get yourself in a warm bath Annobel, then spend the rest of the evening lying with your feet up!

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 19:12

Wow annobal, aren't you good!! Was going to mow my lawn today, but dp wouldn't help me as he has "manflu"! I'm frightened of lawn mowers so can't do it myself (one of dp's friends chopped his finger off on one). Why are men so pathetic? I have the same "illness" as him, but apparently his sore throat is worse than mine and he has been asleep most of the weekend! It makes me so cross ! Why should I do all the housework at the weekend as well as during the week? I haven't had a nap all weekend and I feel like shit, but that doesn't matter coz dp is iller than me! Men...grrrr!!

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 19:16

Is anyone watching Crufts? Those little dogs doing the agility are soooo cute! Dd is transfixed! She is clapping her hands and laughing and saying "well done, clever"! She loves doggies!

hollyandalice · 11/03/2007 19:18

Alas I am no longer a sexy minx! Dp keeps taking the piss out of me and telling me he's going to trade me in for a younger model (I'm 25, he's 35!).

foxybrown · 11/03/2007 19:21

Mine's a lazy arse too!

hollyandalice · 12/03/2007 08:20

Good morning!! Isn't it lovely! Going to pack up a picnic later and go to the common, let's hope my poor dd doesn't get any fat lips whilst we are there!

There is a thread here about that letter you saw in The Guardian foxy. Made me have a little tear!!

foxybrown · 12/03/2007 10:17

Lovely morning, isn't it? Love Mondays, its my hanging at home with DD, she's good fun. Lots to do today in the house and garden, so better get off my butt, turn the Wiggles off and get on!

foxybrown · 12/03/2007 10:36

Twiga - how did your scan go? Thinking of you this morning

bumperlicious · 12/03/2007 10:40

Morning all
Should be at work, but had another bad night, was horrid to DH this morning because he was snoring then he got all offended and I got all upset...so rang my boss and told him I needed to be where other people aren't today, or I am at risk of spending another week crying at work - mortifying! Fortunately I work flexi time and my boss is very understanding (I think he realises it's sometimes in his best interest for me to not be around!).

Anyway using the time to get a bit organised and plan 'things' like hospital bag, things I still need to buy etc. I know, I a complete control freak, but I need to plan the things that I can, coz I know everything else it just going to hit me whether I like it or not. Using MN obviously to do a bit of research and came across this thread and was wondering what you all thought. It's very long by the way!

foxybrown · 12/03/2007 10:50

Oh poor you! You did the right thing - give yourself a day off and relax.

Its an important part of the process, preparing for the baby. Totally understand turning your thoughts to it now. I'm currently in a frenzy sorting our house out because if I don't do it now, I physically won't be able to. Seems a bit premature getting ready for the new baby now, but it takes time.
Think is its all very abstract, being pregnant. Sure we can feel it, partners can see it move now, but its not real until its born. I think I've said before I'd go to babyshops with the intention of kitting out and just freeze. It was all just too big a deal.
I'm not sure about the not sterilising thing. Probably because we've been told for generations that we should do it. I've heard people not do it and just use the dishwasher because it reaches high enough temperatures. I'm not a stickler for sterilising everything for new babies, but on the whole I would continue do it. Especially for things like breastpumps because there are small components.

hollyandalice · 12/03/2007 10:53

Hi bumper, I have just posted on your hospital bag thread, it's very long and boring, but hope it helps!

Re the other thread- I did sterilise with dd up until 6 months, but was mostly bfing, so didn't really have that much to sterilise. I won't buy a steriliser again (I chucked the old one out as it was taking up too much room), but use these little bags . They don't take up any room, are cheap as chips and are perfect if you are bfing and need to only sterilise one bottle or breast pump. Personally I would still sterilise for a while as little tummies are very sensitive and the last thing you want to deal with is a sick baby.

foxybrown · 12/03/2007 10:57

with the bags, do you sterilise as you go then? So one teat and bottle each time you need one? And do you leave it in the bag until you are ready to use it?

hollyandalice · 12/03/2007 10:58

Bumper I had the "can't be round other people" thing whilst pg last time. It is perfectly normal and taking yourself away from others makes you less likely to bite someone's head off!! I used to take myself upstairs, shut myself in the office and do admin all day (I was the manager of a mobile phone store). By the time I went on maternity leave my store's admin was perfect!! Is there somewhere at work where you can sit on your own and do work, or work from home maybe?

hollyandalice · 12/03/2007 11:01

I used to wash the bits then put them in the bag, sterilise them and put them on the draining board to dry. All you do with the bags is put the bottle, or whatever, in it, put in a dribble of water, seal the bag and put it in the microwave for a couple of mins. Hey presto sterilised bits!! They are great!
