Just thought I'd better kick a new one off...
Another day, another tearful outburst at work! It's getting very embarrassing Is it just me who feels like crying at the drop of a hat? Maybe it's lack of sleep, just not dealing very well with things that would not normally bother me, then something really small sets me off. cried in the toilets for 20 minutes today! Can't even explain why. Is this normal still at this stage?

He's only coming home because he's going to a rugby match!! He usuall misses mothers day because of work. to make matters worse, his mate is coming down for it.

he said he'd take the boys.

if he took ALL the kids and left me to shop with a wodge of cash, it'd be OK. if he left all the kids, it wouldn't be so bad!

Is Mothers Day a big deal in your house? DP does like to play it down - for obvious reasons!!!

hollyandalice · 16/03/2007 21:00

No, not a big deal at all. I might get a lie in though, I'm really looking forward to it!! How sad is it that the highlight of my week is staying in bed for an extra hour or two?

foxybrown · 16/03/2007 21:09

ooh, not sad at all! Its the simple things in life which make us happy!

hollyandalice · 16/03/2007 21:10

Yes, my dp is simple and he makes me happy !!

foxybrown · 16/03/2007 21:11

lol!!!

foxybrown · 16/03/2007 21:21

Anyone else finding it hard to watch Comic Relief?

C'mon Bumper, tell us you are ok!

Do I go to bed, or wait for The Apprentice?

hollyandalice · 16/03/2007 21:25

The little baby with malaria died .

I'm going to watch the vicar of dibley then head off to bed!

foxybrown · 16/03/2007 21:34

foxybrown · 17/03/2007 11:49

Morning all.

Anyone seen Bumperlicious?

hollyandalice · 17/03/2007 11:53

No, I keep refreshing her thread to see if she's posted. I'm sure she's ok, but am a bit worried!

How's your dd this morning?

Beauregard · 17/03/2007 11:53

Just popping my head in to say,fab thread title.

hollyandalice · 17/03/2007 11:55
Grin
foxybrown · 17/03/2007 12:20

aw. shes better in herself, but only seems to be keeping down solids. Thanks for asking

we've done face painting, and they put on a show for me, but they all seem abit miserable. I don't have the energy to get them out the door though!

hollyandalice · 17/03/2007 16:39

Glad she's ok foxy.

doggus · 17/03/2007 17:21

Hi all. Hope bumper is OK, will keep an eye out for her.

I have suddenly realised that next year Mother's Day will apply to me, how weird. I have already briefed dh, who looked a bit surprised that he had to go out and get me a card from the baby!

Glad your dh's are all home, and foxy, your dd is improving. Me and dh are still virus-ridden, making us short-tempered and lazy (nothing new there then!). We have, however, managed to make it as far as our local beach front restaurant where we stuffed ourselves with homemade burgers and white chocolate mousse, so we are evidently on the mend.

We are resolved this evening to have a quiet night in with two baby naming books, as I am getting a bit antsy about a Child With No Name. We are already having a heated discussion about 'Sadie' which I love but dh thinks is a cat's name....

And Pelvicfloornomore, I love your name!

marylou23 · 17/03/2007 17:47

Ooh, am getting anxious and not sure whether to be or not... Afternoon is usually v. active time for LO and this afternoon have barely felt anything. Have tried cold drinks, hot drinks, sweet things, lying down... and I sometimes think I feel a very light little movement, but nothing like the pounding I usually get. Is it 12 hours without movement when you have to worry? He was active this morning when I got up - and I've been out and about so he'll have been rocked to sleep. But from 3pm today... hardly anything . Maybe I'll call the midwife...

foxybrown · 17/03/2007 18:02

Had same thing Marylou, went to antenatal clinic one sunday morning at the hospital and blubbed before opening my mouth. Sometimes you just need a bit of reassurance. Am sure he's just preserving his energy before he starts Riverdancing on your bladder!

BTW it is universally acknowledged that anyone who's pregnant has Mothers Day rights and can therefore insist on:
a lie in
cuppa in bed, accompanied by buttery croissants
newspapers brought to said bed
flowers
being treated like a princess.

catkin555 · 17/03/2007 19:47

Marylou,
I had a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. I was in morning rush hour traffic and suddenly realised I hadn't felt him move since lunch time the day before. I burst into hysterical tears and rang my mum! She got hold of the midwife,I popped in to see her and heartbeat was fine. She said it's very common and that it's always OK to ring and get checked out!
Since then the little monkey seems to have got increasingly more active so I think he was just saving his energy up!
Hope you are both OK and that you've been reassured since posting....

catkin555 · 17/03/2007 19:48

Oh, forgot to mention that I of course pulled over before using 'phone in car!!

notsolilKel · 17/03/2007 19:59

hi all, and to those celebrating it, happy St Patrick's Day!! (I'm here by virtue of my Irish citizenship so am rightly quaffing Magner's and later on, a bit of Jameson. All medicinal, of course )

re quiet movements - i found it v reassuring to have on hand one of those 'heart rate listening devices' - about £30 from the likes of Blooming Marvelous. It is far from high tech - resembles one of the first Walkmans made in 1980 - but you will eventually find the baby's heartbeat and so can then sleep at night. Worth a thought!!

Am sooo excited. Whilst DH has nothing special planned for me tomorrow (my first 'double mother's day' with DC2 on the way!) we are painting our kitchen tomorrow!!!! It is currently a hideous form of purply dark red, thanks to the previous owners. Tomorrow it will be Farrow & Ball Off White. Ahhhhhhh just thinking about it makes me feel wonderful

Enjoy your lie ins ladies!!! Like L'oreal, you're worth it (groan, sorry...)

hollyandalice · 17/03/2007 20:07

Hope you've had some kicks marylou. The kick count is usually 10 movements in a 4-6 hour window, but it depends on when your baby is usually active. If concerned go to your birthing unit and they'll strap you to a monitor for an hour. I never did this, but one of my friends spent almost every other day in there!!

Hope you're better doggus and hope your dd is well foxy.

Hope you all have a lovely Mother's Day and get a lie in and breakfast in bed !! I'm after a cuppa and an egg sandwich, but not before 9!

foxybrown · 17/03/2007 20:43

I trust thats a fried egg sarnie?!

Pregnancy is such a worrying time, you aren't convinced the baby's ok until s/hes out, then you worry they aren't developing properly and constantly compare them with their peers.... it doesn't stop, does it?

Hope all is OK Marylou, and a bump for Bumperlicious. Fingers crossed.

Night all xx

marylou23 · 17/03/2007 22:59

Thanks guys - all is well; saw midwife and heartbeat was fine. And of course as soon as he'd been checked out he started moving around again (maybe he's an attention seeking baby?!) . Was worried because in the afternoon he's always v. active, but I guess today he decided to change his schedule...
Have a lovely day tomorrow everyone and Lilkel, may your kitchen be clean, serene and everything else you expect when the walls are covered with Farrow and Ball's finest .

foxybrown · 18/03/2007 13:19

marylou!
