Just thought I'd better kick a new one off...
Another day, another tearful outburst at work! It's getting very embarrassing Is it just me who feels like crying at the drop of a hat? Maybe it's lack of sleep, just not dealing very well with things that would not normally bother me, then something really small sets me off. cried in the toilets for 20 minutes today! Can't even explain why. Is this normal still at this stage?

Or do you mean the guilt when you realise you've necked half a bottle of wine and are due to feed?

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 16:21

Or the guilt when you've picked up your 6 week old baby in the car seat without checking the handle's locked first and tip him out onto hard floor face first 'cos you haven't strapped him in?

Seansgirl · 14/03/2007 16:22

Prune and Banana muffin! Healthy and yummy(lots of fibre - could be windy tonight) !

Seansgirl · 14/03/2007 16:25

I did that with DD, gulped several glasses of red wine......

sputnik · 14/03/2007 16:26

Thanks for the reassurance. I guess we will have a breathing space while the little one is still tiny and sleeps all the time to get used to things. Just hoping DD will not get jealous.

More cream sounds like an excellent idea at this point.

sputnik · 14/03/2007 16:29

Done the wine thing too...

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 16:41

Anyone still around? Sorry I missed the scones , I had to take dd to the play centre! Am completely knackered now!!

Seansgirl · 14/03/2007 16:48

Don't worry Holly we're not that greedy we saved some scones and cream for you and try the canoli or the prune and banana muffins they're very nice......... must go and cook to dinner and do a bit of domestic drudgery before DH comes home and thinks I've done nothing......

By the way Holly, how are you getting on with your next jeans - I bought the same pair after ripping my other ones but have problems with them being a bit loose - I have the same size as i would in normal next jeans perhaps I should have gone down a size?

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 16:54

Hello, prune and banana muffin for me please..mmm!!! Yes my jeans are oh so baggy and keep falling down. I am a size 14, but originally bought a 16 as I thought they might be ok as I got really big when pg with dd. These actually fell down, so I returned them and got a 14. These also fall down, but are a bit better. I suppose we'll grow into them! I do love them though and they are lovely and long. Did you get the dark ones?

I need to cook dinner, but have no food. We may have to have some random assortment of whatever's in the freezer. Couldn't be arsed to go shopping!!

notsolilKel · 14/03/2007 17:35

OK we're off to the airport with our 10 overstuffed bags and grumpy 1yr old. Any last requests for yummy American treats or shopping??

H&A so sorry about your insomnia. Maybe all your running about today will tucker you out enough for a good sleep tonight. I have the most disturbing dreams when I do sleep so almost don't want to anymore! Last night it was giving birth to massively deformed alien instead of sweet baby girl. OMG it was horrifying!!! Think I might need to start my mum's old goodnight remedy in pg - glass of brandy -

BadZ you are also way too good for me. How does one eat a raw lemon anyway? With lots of sugar on top?

Toodle-oo till Thursday.....

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 17:36

ahh, with DP away so no need to cook again. Hurrah!

I've found that Primarni trousers are quite low slung, so can still get away with my old jeans and cargo pants. Might not be everyone's cuppa, but much, much cheaper than paying the maternity mark-up elsewhere. Jeans were a tenner.

Dorothy Perkins mat jeans are rubbish. Make my knickers fall down!

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 17:37

Good luck with the flight back Lilkel

bumperlicious · 14/03/2007 17:56

Hi all
Sorry I miss you all during the day - I would never get any work done if we were allowed to use the internet at work!
H&A sorry you are having such crap nights too. I actually have slept better the past two nights, still waking up pretty early, but not waking up in the night any more, for now anyway! I've put my iPod next to my bed with some talking books on it so now if I do wake up up I can use it to distract me to sleep. Not had to try it yet but will let you know if it works.
Don't think I could ever get botox, am just too terrified of injections, though if I could afford it and the though didn't make me want to throw up I would get it in my armpits as it is meant to be good for sweaty betties like me!
Feeling so much better at the moment, think it is because I've actually slept, and am just so appreciative of that fact. Plus had a new haircut, so feeling pretty fab - makes a change for me! Do need to get my eyebrows done though. I've tried growing them out so I can start again with them, but they have grown back all patchy. Will have to just get them seen to asap. Never had anyone do my brows before.
Badzelda v impressed re: the cycling. DH practically forbade me to cycle to work any more (have been known to fall off ) and to be honest I wasn't actually that sad to do it! Tried walking to work the other day when the weather was fab, but was a bit of a strain, especially with my ligament problems. Also finding that I'm feeling quite a strain in my uterus or pelvis when I walk - anyone else get that?
Sorry, really long catch up!

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 18:30

pleased to hear you are sleeping better bumperlicious. it really does make a difference, doesn't it?

yes to the ligament/pelvis thing. Currently getting stabbing pains in my groin and shooting pains down my legs. Haven't been to the gym for 2 weeks now and feel huge, achey and lethargic.

TALLULAHBELLE · 14/03/2007 19:02

Hey Foxy - re -And you MUST go to your NHS ante-natals - simply because you make fab friends who you will meet up with every week and do long leisurely lunches whilst bambino sleeps peacefully under restaurant table.

Just had my first parenthood class. I am a Primary teacher and attending my class were 3 ex pupils, all teenagers now, obviously. TBH, DH & I felt ancient as most folk there were very young and with their mums, and not really keen to participate in the class at all. We are in our 30's and were by far the oldest there. Didn't think it looked likely that I would be able to build a strong support network of other local mums.

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 19:09

Tallulahbelle my antenatal class was the opposite. I was 23 and there wasn't one person there younger than 36 and they were all stuck up bitches who looked down their noses at me!! I made my best "mum" friends at the first time mums group at the gp's surgery. I still see them now, went out with them today! I think antenatal classes are good as they show you the options available to you, but were pretty much useless for me as I read so much I knew everything anyway!! Yes I'm an insufferable know it all!

Gald you have been sleeping better bumper. I'm sure I will sleep for England tonight, I'll just have to make sure I don't drink too much before going to bed so there is no middle of the night weeing!!

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 19:15

I stand corrected. Am sorry.

Seansgirl · 14/03/2007 19:16

Yes, the dark ones Holly, I like them apart from them being baggy around the hips and arse! How do manufacturers get it soooo wrong with sizings? Have been desperately trying to find some trouseurs that are not jeans, that are a) not clingy and show off cellulite, b) long enough c) that fit d) not massively expensive! How difficult is that? Apparently very have returned 5 pairs in the last week to various places! Am waiting for the summer next catalogue - as some things in the maternity are sold out already in the spring/summer one was advised 26th March!

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 19:18

I'm sure yours was lovely foxy, but mine was a bit rubbish. Most people say they met good friends in their groups though, I think it depends on where you live and what surgery you are booked in with.

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 19:20

I saw the summer catalogue in Next the other day and there was very little maternity in it. Sorry seansgirl. Us tallies don't have much choice do we?

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 19:26

i must've got lucky. I was the only single parent there so it was quite hard to go in alone and connect with people without feeling as inadequate in someway.

I apologise for telling you all what to do. I just really, really valued my experience. I couldn't have faced NCT classes on my own. My pregnancy/birth/children experiences have been SO positive, I just want to pass some of that good stuff on.

I feel like I'm an insufferable bossy cow now!

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 19:28

No you're not a bossy cow foxy, just sharing. I like sharing, it's good!!

marylou23 · 14/03/2007 20:03

Damnit, I missed the tea and scones. Sounded delicious. And Foxy, don't worry about being bossy - firstly, you're not, and secondly, there's nothing wrong with a little bossiness. Better to have an opinion than none. My friends/sisters have had good experiences with NCT and made great friends - I guess it's just luck of the draw really. Now, would love to stay and chat but Relocation is about to start, and Mr Ocado is on his way with grapes, blueberries, wholegrain bread and salad. Okay, and he might also have some Lindt chocolate, tunnocks tea cakes and mini twixes .

foxybrown · 14/03/2007 20:08

Marylou - is that a Relocation repeat? I thought it was a new series, but there's been a couple I think I've seen before. I love it. But worry about Kirsty's pregnancy wardrobe. Channel 4 could have done better!

hollyandalice · 14/03/2007 20:11

I'm soooo bored!! Dp isn't going away tonight, but tomorrow instead, unfortunately ! Now I've got to watch football/cricket! He is watching the football and flicking it over to the cricket every few mins. So it's another evening on mumsnet for me! Maybe I'll put dd to bed and go myself.
