#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Congratulations to you music, glad that everything went well, another thank you to you & MrsG for sharing your experiences, for me anyway, it's a massive fear of the unknown, so it's really brilliant to hear people handle it so well Smile

Hope everyone is doing well, be that trying to get comfy with a huge bump or being sleep deprived with a LO

I'm 15+2 today & everything is starting to feel very real now! Not sure if I mentioned or not but our scan was 2 weeks ago, everything was fine & baby was moving about like a mad little person - took a while to get everything the sonographer needed! I think that coupled with telling family / friends has made me think oh, we're actually going to have a baby!! Silly I know!

Wishing lots of sleep to all!

Scandalicity · 23/08/2017 07:01

Sorry skip your post didn't appear when I replied! My above post about wishing sleep to all applies though Grin when were you planning on finishing work? 38+6 is good going! Think of all the day time naps once you are on mat leave! Hope this week isn't too tough on you too!

FXSkip · 23/08/2017 10:12

Ha ha thanks scandal an great news about your scan! It still feels a bit surreal to me to be honest. Hope you're enjoying the second tri, I actually have enjoyed the third much more, I was still a bit of a worrier before but once I reached viability milestones I was much more relaxed.
I was planning to work to 40wks, but it's fine. I'm actually off anyway today so getting some painting done in the kitchen. I just want her to come now! I am eating all the pineapple I can get my hands on (not that easy in Northern Scotland!!) scrubbing the floor, walking to paint shop for tins of paint - all in vain 😣 I've also expressed a bit of colostrum to store in the freezer - anyone else done this? I feel a bit crazed!!

Starmist · 23/08/2017 10:25

Skip agree with you that it's like the TWW, I'm on knicker & symptom watch, its driving me insane! I'm also with you on annoying apps asking if baby is here! You're doing so well to still be working. I finished work at 36 weeks & now in hindsight I think I could have gone a bit longer although it was lovely to not have the stress of work anymore & be able to relax. I haven't expressed, not bought a pump as they are so expensive & thought it best to see how I get on with BF. What pump do you have?

Scandal just the other day I was looking at the baby rocker chair in the corner of the lounge & I suddenly thought "there will be a baby in there very soon" & it really freaked me out! I don't think that feeling ever really goes. Glad your scan went well. It's so lovely & exciting when you share your news with others.

FXSkip · 23/08/2017 12:22

starmist good to know it's not just me! I have the medela swing but I'm hand expressing colostrum - partly to easy my paranoia that my boobs won't work (!) and partly to attempt to stimulate labour with some oxytocin Blush I am really sensitive about my boobs, so I thought the sooner I just dealt with it the better, and I'm glad I have as I've been able to slowly increase the amount of action they can tolerate!! I'm planning to use the pump in a few months when I start working again - I'll be working 2 nights a week from 5 months ☹️

Mrsbluebell17 · 23/08/2017 22:44

How's everyone doing? Carley are you feeling like it's more real now you've had some movements you can feel? It helped me to make it feel real.

Skip and Starmist I hope the time passes by smoothly for you both. I'm aiming to finish work when I'm 37 weeks. I don't think I could go on any longer than that.

I don't know anything about expressing colostrum beforehand - can anyone recommend any good sources for me to read about this?

Mrsbluebell17 · 23/08/2017 23:32

Also, for any of you much further along, is it usual to be only able to sleep for short periods of time at the moment and keep waking up lots? This is whats happening to me?

Carley27 · 25/08/2017 22:51

Yes feeling much more real bluebell! I still forget I'm pregnant sometimes but a swift kick reminds me! How are you doing other than the broken sleep? I've not had problems sleeping but having some seriously weird vivid dreams 🤔

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/08/2017 04:10

Sorry for the delayed reply Carley. I'm good apart from the broken sleep. You?

How are all you new mums doing?

MrsG280516 · 28/08/2017 12:17

Hi everyone, just a little update. Thea is 13 days old today Shock we are doing really well, I got a little infection from the placenta removal so was at the GP for antibiotics last week but feeling much better now. She's still feeding wonderfully but breastfeeding in general is so tiring. Most nights she's been cluster feeding from 4-6pm till 12-2am but then having a decent 3-5 hour sleep then another feed and then 2-4 hours again so we're not too sleep deprived!

Who is next on the due date list?!

FXSkip · 28/08/2017 15:29

Hi mrsg so good to hear from you! And glad to hear you are on the mend. Sounds exhausting, I'm desperate to meet my bump (I'm due on Wednesday) but at the same time know I should be savouring all this free time! I'm sure there must be someone due before me/overdue though....?

Miranda234 · 29/08/2017 13:02

Oh wow you're so close now skip! I remember you getting your bfp on the other thread Smile

Glad to hear all is well mrsg, I can imagine the first few weeks are really exhausting.

I'm with you on the vivid dreams carley and broken sleep bluebell!

Hope everyone else is doing ok 😊

FXSkip · 30/08/2017 20:06

Uh oh I think we need a new thread soon! I can't believe I'm at my due date already to be honest, I still sometimes think 'shit I need to take my pill' when I have been off it for 2 years now!!! I hope all the ttc thread people are doing ok, I'm so sad not to see a few more familiar faces here.

Mrsbluebell17 · 31/08/2017 02:50

@FXSkip hope you're doing ok? Is it due date now for you? I'm no good at starting new threads - can anyone else help?
I know, I still follow the journeys on the ttc thread. It's such a tough road.

@Starmist how are you doing? Are you at due date now too?

I'm really struggling with this middle of the night insomnia Hmm. I fall asleep ok then wake up around 2-3-4am and can't sleep again for a while. Any advice or does this pass?

Starmist · 31/08/2017 13:06

I'm 40+2 now. Had an uncomfortable night with bad period pain & I've lost some of my plug today. Got a sweep this afternoon so FX that'll get baby moving. Feeling really excited & have been madly cleaning the house today in case I go into labour soon!

Sorry I've never started a new thread either so no clue what to do.

Hope everyone is ok xx

FXSkip · 01/09/2017 14:05

Any news starmist? you're literally a day ahead of me, I'm going in for sweep on Monday if no action over the weekend. Pretty sure I'm not dilated at all, And I've lost no plug at all. On the plus side DH has been up for lots of dtd which is fun Grin downside is I've given myself an ulcer from eating so much pineapple and I'm sick to death of raspberry leaf tea. How's everyone else doing?

FXSkip · 01/09/2017 18:01

Also I made a new thread.... TTC#1 - Second wave grads thread - The Third! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/3022125-ttc-1-second-wave-grads-thread-the-third

Please go and check yourselves in! X

Starmist · 01/09/2017 18:07

MrsBlue sorry I forgot to add before that for quite a while I'd wake up at around 1-3am & struggle to get back to sleep, it was very frustrating, I think it's hormones. I can't remember when exactly, some point in 3rd trimester, it just stopped happening.

Skip ooh good luck for Monday, hope it gets things moving. I didn't find the sweep too bad, it was like an intense smear. Things are apparently 'favourable' down there. I lost quite a big bit of the plug this morning but I've had nothing at all since. Hope DTD helps. I'm on the raspberry leaf tablets, I heard the tea is pretty vile?

Hope everyone else is ok xx

Starmist · 01/09/2017 18:08

Ah sorry cross post Skip. Thanks for doing a new thread Smile
