#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

fxskip are you hoping for a homebirth or MLU? Our MLU is part of the local hospital which works out perfectly for me as I like the security of a back up being on site!

bluebell I'm afraid to say that my insomnia has not improved much as time has gone on. It does seem to go in phases though. Currently I just can't seem to get comfortable for very long and I am so so bored of sleeping on my side!!

Hello again starfish!

Lovely to hear from you seahawk. Glad everything is going well with baby Hector and glad that he doesn't have meningitis!

39+4 here so due date is on Monday. Have had no signs of anything changing at all so am expecting to be in it for the long haul. Doesn't make it any easier to deal with though as I so want to meet her!

Mrsbluebell17 · 11/08/2017 19:16

Thanks skip I'll give it a try with something to focus on. Music I think I'm going to have to get used to the idea but at the same time it would be good for me to get my head around dealing with the phases in the short term too. Hoping I can do that. Can't believe you're so close to your due date. Thinking of you!

FXSkip · 12/08/2017 00:34

Exciting times music I can't imagine how intense it is for you, wanting so much to meet your baby but not knowing when it will be!! I'm 37+2 and sooo fed up already! Can't wait to run up the stairs without gasping for air, and lie on my front, and not have people judging me for doing things 'in my condition'.

I'm hoping just to stay at home as long as possible (forgotten who asked alreadyBlush) so we're planning for a home birth but I'm pretty easy going so will go with what feels right at the time, just don't want to be caught out at home and not make it to hosp and panic! The MLU and associated hospital is a 15min drive away so not far.

Starmist · 12/08/2017 03:56

I'm in the wide awake club tonight. Not sure what baby is doing but whatever side I lie on it feels like I'm squishing him.

Does anyone have anything exciting planned for the weekend? (Apart from hopefully having a baby for those who are v close to due dates!)

Miranda234 · 13/08/2017 21:36

Hope you managed to get some sleep starmist. I'm now needing the loo a couple of times in the night and struggle to get back to sleep after.

We've had a lovely weekend away in London and I had a pregnancy massage today which was great, might try and have another one soon!

I'm struggling to sleep on my side, I start off that way but every time I wake up I'm on my back 😬 I'm hoping it doesn't matter too much at this stage? I'm 25+2. Guess I'm might have to start wedging myself in with pillows!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend and all those close/overdue are doing ok 😊

Mrsbluebell17 · 13/08/2017 22:30

Hope you got some more sleep Starmist.

Miranda* I have that exact same problem and I'm 23 weeks. I've had this problem all the way through, I go to sleep on my side and wake up on my back every time. It stresses me out! Confused I have a big U pillow but I still roll onto my back somehow. I'm a wriggler!!

LovelyFishy · 14/08/2017 12:41

Miranda & Bluebell I had the problem of waking up on my back around that stage in my pregnancy. I worried too but Little Fishy's just fine! I found from about 30 weeks onwards I was on my side a lot more naturally so I guess our bodies know what's right at the right time? I also remember the NCT lady saying at our classes that unless we sat straight up and slightly forward we'd have babies in uncomfortable positions and have trouble giving birth. I spent 99% of my pregnancy slouched back on the sofa and was just fine so I think all these things are with a pinch of salt!

Carley27 · 14/08/2017 14:34

Happy due date Music!

I generally sleep on my left side anyway so I've not thought about sleeping position too much, but I had a group physio session and one of the girls asked about it as she kept waking up on her back. The physio said not to worry about it and you will probably naturally lie on your side more as your pregnancy progresses anyway. She also said a girl in a previous group slept on her front the entire pregnancy (no idea how!) and baby was fine.

Scandalicity · 15/08/2017 06:55

Massive congratulations to wanting!! & hope there is progress for you MrsG??

Sorry ladies - dropped off the thread massively but seem to have looked back on at the right time - weeks 12-14 have killed me exhaustion wise! I'm struggling to sleep which is so unlike me, but also struggling so badly with my back! I think it's the side sleeping that's making it hurt, so I think it may be time to invest in a pillow - do you ladies have any recommendations?

Hope everyone is doing well Grin

Musicgrrl · 15/08/2017 08:22

Sorry I haven't been around much. Due date came around yesterday with no signs of impending labour. Had my 40 week midwife appointment and my fundal height had dropped to what it was at 34 weeks so I was told to go to the assessment unit. Spent all afternoon there seeing various people and the upshot is that they think it's safest to induce me asap. Baby could have dropped into my pelvis/changed position and be absolutely fine (although they said she still isn't very engaged) or my placenta could be not doing its job very well anymore. There wasn't space on the ward for me last night so I'm heading in shortly. Pretty terrified if I'm honest as I wasn't expecting it at all!! Cervix was unfavourable yesterday when the midwife checked so it might be a challenging ride...

I'll probably have more time to catch up properly later while I'm waiting for things to kick off! Love to all Smile

Miranda234 · 15/08/2017 12:08

Aw thinking of you music, hopefully not long now until you see your baby Smile. Can imagine it's a bit of a shock if you weren't expecting it, hope all goes smoothly for you and look forward to the update when baby is here! Xxx

macsworth · 15/08/2017 14:41

Thinking of you Music. I hope it all goes smoothly. Very exciting to think you're going to meet your little one so soon!

Any news MrsG? Thinking of you too!

Scandal a lot of people recommend the Dream Genie. I've got Mothercare's cheaper version which I'm finding very comfy although a bit hot! Feel for you with the tiredness, I've never experienced anything like it. You will come out the other side of it though!

All good here at 24+5. Coming to terms with having to get up every night for a wee. (I know this is going to nothing compared to being up with a newborn!!)

Have any of you done/thinking about doing Hypnobirthing? I know a few people who have done it but I'm really not sure if it's for me.

FXSkip · 15/08/2017 22:02

Aww music I'm so sorry to hear it's not gone to plan for you, you are in the best hands though and hopefully you'll get to meet your bubba safely and soon.

Mrsbluebell17 · 16/08/2017 07:14

Thinking of you mrsg and music!

Scandal I've* got one from Amazon, I'll find the link..... I really like it. It doesn't stop me rolling over completely but it helps a lot.

Macs I've been thinking about looking into hypnobirthing but I'm not really one for things like that normally.

Hows everyone doing?

Mrsbluebell17 · 16/08/2017 07:16

I got the pillow case for it too which is sold separately

kavanaughkj · 16/08/2017 07:35

Good luck Music! Try not to worry about the fundal height - I went over the curve and expected to have a giant baby. When she actually arrived she was a perfectly normal 8 lb 2 oz, well under the expected amount. I'm still trying to get her back up to that as she lost a fair bit of the birth weight and has only just now started to gain ... I'm baking lactation cookies to build up my supply and drinking tons of water!

So exciting though. Nothing prepares you for how you feel meeting your little one for the first time :)

kav I can also reccomended legendairy milk supplements. I've struggled with low supply on/off and they are amazing. They're from America but they arrived within a week. Legendairy Milk

Music thinking of you, hope all goes smoothly and without issue. Good luck, hope you've got your little one snuggled up in your aarms.

MrsG280516 · 17/08/2017 16:11

Hi all, our little girl Thea Alexandra finally arrived at 10.30am on 15th August weighing 8lbs exactly!

Labour was prolonged and although she was born vaginally I unfortunately needed to go into theatre and had a manual removal of the placenta under general anaesthetic as it wouldn't come out and I lost a fair bit of blood. Still got discharged just over 24 hours after coming out of theatre and starting to feel normal again.

She's totally worth it 😍

LovelyFishy · 17/08/2017 16:59

Congratulations MrsG, she's beautiful!! GrinFlowers Sorry to hear about the theatre bit but glad you're well enough to go home already. Was it still an ok experience even though it's not what you'd planned? Hope you're enjoying lots of newborn cuddles!

Miranda234 · 17/08/2017 17:45

Huge congratulations mrsg, she is gorgeous! Glad you're home now and hope you have a swift recovery Smile

MissyJones80s · 17/08/2017 19:40

Awww yay MrsG such a cutie and a lovely name too!!! Sorry you had a bit of placenta trauma I've heard of a few people who've had this but good on you for being out in 24 hours! Hope you are having a lovely time at home.

Sorry to hear you are going through it a bit music hope you get to meet your little one soon too.

I still can't feel any movement, I know that's normal for 17 weeks but really can't wait...I wonder when it will become apparent how long did others wait?

glitteryvibes · 17/08/2017 19:45

Congrats mrsg glad your back home and enjoying having the new arrival.

Mrsbluebell17 · 17/08/2017 21:10

Congrats mrsg! I've been avidly checking for your news so I'm delighted to see you now have your beautiful baby girl. Love the name, it's one on our list too!! Sorry to hear the placenta delivery was a pain, but so glad to hear you are recovering well and home already. Wonderful news overall, congrats Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 17/08/2017 21:12

Missy, I didn't feel any movement until after 20 weeks! So definitely don't worry although I know how you feel just waiting for it. Now I feel stuff often and panic when I don't feel it regularly!!

macsworth · 18/08/2017 07:48

Congratulations MrsG. She's gorgeous. Sorry you had a hard time but great that you're home already.
