#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

So glad it went well bluebell hope you can relax a little now. You going to book a gender scan?

I asked some of my friends that have had kids and none of them went up that much, t was like 1-2 back sizes and 1-2 cup sizes. so I think the scary bra fitter was telling lies!! Although i do wonder as pretty much all the women with kids in my family are bloody massive in that department conpared to me, so maybe my genetics will mean I'll be investing in some industrial strength bras come Christmas...

Mrsbluebell17 · 01/06/2017 19:58

Thanks glittery. Feeling a lot more relaxed about it all now. Especially since I've gained a few extra days on my weeks so that's good. Thanks for your message. we will find out the gender but we are get to decide whether to have a private scan or not for that.

Miranda234 · 01/06/2017 21:55

Glad the scan was all fine bluebell hope you can relax a bit more now 😊

MissyJones80s · 01/06/2017 22:07

Hooray bluebell wonderful news and a new date Smile

MissyJones80s · 01/06/2017 22:10

Guys thanks for all the feedback on morning sickness I doubt I will escape but at present still nothing here...it sounds like everyone has a completely different morning sickness experience so really not sure what to expect. I hate feeling sick so I am kind of worries how I will cope but I guess you do and just plough on through haha!

glitteryvibes · 01/06/2017 22:21

missy i think the feeling sick/being sick is almost ok to accept as you can accept it's for a bloody good reason! It's not enjoyable but I'm sure the end result will be worth it (also I take it as an excuse to eat excessive amounts of cake/chocolate/ice cream as I know most of it returns!!)

bluebell we will also find out the gender if possible but not sure on the private gender scan front yet. The control freak part of me can't handle surprises.

MissyJones80s · 02/06/2017 08:00

glittery yes my thoughts exactly...good point re the chocolate, cake and ice cream as well haha

Seahawk80 · 02/06/2017 14:42

Great news bluebell! I was always so nervous before the scans. Have my last scan on Monday - 36 week growth scan. Feels weird that it's the last time I'll see baby until he/she is out.

Hope no one in the early stages is feeling too rough. I always found having cold water to hand helped - like a hangover ha ha!

Starmist · 03/06/2017 07:07

Just catching up...

Marmite so great to hear from you. Can't believe it's been a month already. Interesting about going for a walk after a sweep, I've made a note of that so I don't forget. Glad you've found a dress for the wedding. Hope you can get into your shoes again soon, although it would be an excuse to buy a new pair Wink

Missy welcome & congratulations! Have you told anyone yet? Like Skip my sickness didn't start until a bit later & I thought I'd miss it. I found eating regularly helped to keep it fairly under control if you do get it. Mine was worse on evenings & through the night but it cleared up after a few weeks.

Miranda wow very impressive about the hen do, that makes me tired just thinking about it!

Seahawk how are you doing?

Moose hope you're ok.

FXSkip great purchases from DH! Don't feel guilty about the chocolate eating, I feel like that's all I'm doing. I'll be in the 3rd trimester on Tuesday, can't believe it. We've got loads of things still to buy, really need to get cracking with it.

MrsG I'm finding antenatal classes so useful, hope you enjoy them.

Glittery I was up 3 cup sizes & had to buy new bras at week 7. In fact one of the first things I noticed before I got my BFP was my bra strap kept pinging off. I'm 27 weeks now & my back size is getting tight. I've ordered a couple of cheap extenders off eBay to keep me going as I don't want to buy more bras... although I guess I'll need to buy some nursing ones but I'd rather hold off buying those for as long as possible as I guess they will get bigger again when milk comes in.

MrsBlue glad the scan went well, it must have been a relief & so amazing to see baby. Glad all the measurements were done.

Carley early on my boobs were so sore. I remember thinking I wanted to wear a bra in the shower as having them unsupported for just that amount of time felt uncomfortable!

macsworth · 03/06/2017 07:31

Ok, finally getting round to catching up properly!

Missy I started feeling unwell about 6+3 and it peaked around 8-9 weeks. I'm not quite 100% yet but it's eased off massively at 14 weeks.

Marmite so nice to hear how you're getting on. Crazy how quickly things change. Did you make it out to the picnic? My niece is 6 weeks and SIL says she is still struggling to make it out of the house!
I've got a wedding when baby will only be about 3/4 weeks old, I'm dreading what I'll wear!! and how I'll cope

Skip that is so sweet of your DH and sounds like you're getting prepared (well he is!!). Sitting on the sofa and eating chocolate is an essential part of baby growing!

Moose hope you're doing ok and you've got some exciting news for us soon!

Music (I'm a bit late but) Congratulations on the promotion. Have you had your offer letter yet?

Sea glad everything was ok after the fall and they picked up the UTI. Are you feeling better now?

Hi to everyone else 👋🏼. I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

All good here at 14+2, had a hospital appointment yesterday about my thyroid and doctor gave me a sneaky bonus scan so got to see my very wriggling baby again.
Off to see my best friend this weekend who is over from Australia with her 2 month old. Can't wait! Also going to tell her I'm pregnant 😊

Musicgrrl · 03/06/2017 10:33

Happy due date moose! Good excuse to get a birthday cake in and keep eating a slice or three until baby decides to turn up Wink hope it's not a long wait!

Sorry to all those suffering from sickness. I had a lucky escape although I spent the whole time fretting that I wasn't pregnant or that it was bad not to get sick. I'm blaming the way Hollywood/tv portrays pregnancy for that!

macs thanks! And no offer letter yet but I've been made aware of wider circumstances that are the reason for the delay and they have confirmed that my take up date won't be delayed because of it so I won't have to wait for my first promotion pay cheque! It should be at the end of July which would be ideal for last minute baby purchases. That's so lovely that they have you a sneaky scan at the hospital - bonus! Enjoy sharing your news with your friend Smile

starmist we're in the same boat as you - we've bought so little! 30 weeks on Monday so I'm hoping that will help to get my arse in gear!

seahawk last scan is very exciting! Enjoy it Smile when do you finish work? Can't be long now!

bluebell glad scan went well and that you were moved forward dates wise. Hope the internal was okay!

carley I've done the digging out bras from when I was larger! I also got a couple of non underwired bras but they didn't even change my size I don't think. My boobs have barely changed (apart from the unglamorous leaking and the huge nipple area...) Am expecting to get some more bras just before birth for nursing and getting my size checked again then.

fxskip love your nipple comment - cracked me up Grin

Posting before I lose - more later! I'm currently in traffic on the m25 (not driving I hasten to add...)

Mrsbluebell17 · 03/06/2017 22:44

I succumbed to a big u shape pillow! First night with it wedged in the bed tonight ConfusedGrin hope I sleep better.

Hope you're all doing well. Sorry for my silence. Been a busy few days. Smile

MissyJones80s · 04/06/2017 11:38

moose how's it going???

bluebell hope you had a lovely comfy sleep last night with your new pillow

macs how lovely for you to have a sneaky extra scan Smile

On the subject of boobs, my boobs have been so sore since day one however this morning I have noticed they are hardly sore at all, maybe a bit around the sides towards my armpits. I don't have many other symptoms at all, on off cramping and a bit more tired than usual but that's it. A bit more spotty on face too. I thought I felt a bit off yesterday but now questioning it. Only 6+5, thought my symptoms would be ramping up but the only big symptom I had now also seems to be disappearing

Seahawk80 · 04/06/2017 18:27

missy I poked my boobs so much in the early days when they felt less sore that I made them sore again! Easier said than done but try not to worry, it is normal for symptoms to come and go.

I'll have a proper catch up later - just wanted to reply and say don't worry. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I was working but my last weekend for over a year so it wasn't too bad!

macsworth · 04/06/2017 20:15

I agree with sea missy. I freaked out a few times about my boobs not being sore. Symptoms definitely come and go! Try not to worry, not everyone gets bad symptoms, you're probably one of the lucky ones!

MissyJones80s · 04/06/2017 22:39

Thanks guys know I'm being a stress head about it all...comes with the #1 territory I guess. Anyway I've also managed to break one of my back teeth and swallow an entire filling which of course I am now also stressing about lol what am I like going to call dentist tomorrow for reassurance...
Thanks for your reassurance it's really helpful Smile

MissyJones80s · 04/06/2017 22:43

Wondering what's happening with Moose!!!

marmitecheesetoast · 05/06/2017 09:57

I did get out to the picnic thanks Mac - mainly because it was a 10 min walk from my house!! Still nervous about going much further than that incase baby marmite really kicks off and too hard to settle (still a fairly common occurrence!) she only got upset once at the picnic though so just shoved her on the boob (even though she'd just had a big feed before leaving the house -
She only went on for about 5/10 mins but it comforted her...she is definitely using my nipple as a dummy sometimes Hmm)

Hope you have a lovely time with your friend mac and sharing your news!! Great bonus on the extra scan too!

Haha I thought that about ththink shoes initially starmist then realised that shopping with a baby is impossible and shoe shopping doesn't lend itself to online shopping! Can't believe you're now in 3rd trimester, how exciting!

missy I never had sore boobs the whole pregnancy til right at the end! If I wasn't so sick at the start I would have worried about lack of boob pain I think!

Hope you're enjoying your preggo pillow bluebell!

Hope Fishy and baby fishy are doing ok, it's a crazy time!

Thinking of Moose too and sending lots of positive thoughts and hoping for exciting news soon xx

I'm thinking I might need to get some 'Bridget Jones' type pants for this wedding in a few weeks to hold in my newly acquired mum tum a bit...! Have never bought or worn anything like this, wondered if anyone has and has any recommendations?!! I don't want anything too massive or too tight, just some light control I think?! Just had a quick Google and seems a bit complex!!

Carley27 · 05/06/2017 13:48

Ahh no Missy - I can't stand the dentist so you have my sympathy! Hope it's not sore. My boobs hurt on and off to begin with and then stayed sore, but they're easing off now thankfully! Also had the lovely spots, but much improved now!

Bluebell how are you finding the pillow?

Ooh do you find the non-underwired bras any comfier Music? I am tempted to try them.

Thinking of you Moose!

Seahawk80 · 05/06/2017 18:45

marmite I find m&s best for the big pants. In my experience it's best to go for the ones that go up over your stomach and down to your knees, otherwise they just squish the flab up over the waistband. I also find this style more comfortable. If it's a wedding though and a long day I'd be tempted to just go for a stomach skimming dress, less hot and more comfortable.

Glad all is good with the promotion music

I finish work on Friday - can't wait now. Had my last growth scan today and baby is still mr or miss average which is good. Just need to get the nursery finished now!

Mrsbluebell17 · 05/06/2017 19:26

Carley the pillow is great. Stops me going on my back as much, really comfy but I get really hot wedged into it. Hmm so not sure how I'll last in the summer but we'll see. Are you considering one?

LovelyFishy · 05/06/2017 22:31

Hello all! Sorry for being awol, being a mum really is full-time! Little Fishy is doing brilliantly, currently trying to get her to settle, we're way overdue a nap. 4 weeks old tomorrow, where does the time go? Hope you're all keeping well, will try and do a proper catch-up soon!

Mooseville · 06/06/2017 08:50

Hello everyone! Sorry for lack of posting - still no internet at home and my signal is very intermittent on my phone!

Absolutely nothing to report here. 40+3 and I've got no twinges, nothing! Had a sweep on due date and my cervix was still closed and posterior - another mw appt today but I don't feel anything has changed! Am getting a bit fed up! Bored just hanging round the house - but a bit nervous about going out too much incase anything happens and I'm alone and away from home!

I've been in underwired bras since the start- much comfier but not a good boob look really! But at this stage I don't care!
As for tummy pull ins, I've used them before pregnancy, I just got M&S huge ones, literally nipple to knee! Not very sexy but they hold in everything!!! Grin

WantingBaby1 · 06/06/2017 12:00

Hi ladies.

Been a while so just checking in to say hello Smile

31 weeks here, feeling like I'm on the home stretch now! Bump feels huge but still no stretchmarks, although I'm putting lots of cream on every day.

Thinking of you moose and anyone else coming up to their due dates! Not long now.

Can't believe the babies are weeks old now! Sounds like the mummies on this thread are becoming seasoned pros already.

Re boobs - I've found a great group on face book called boob or bust bra measuring advice. Apparently some of the shop fitters are using an outraged system of adding 4 inches to the band size and the result is a bigger band size and smaller cup size than you actually need. The BoB page has a good way of measuring yourself and I've found it great. I don't consider myself big at all - was in m and s 38d at 30 weeks (up from 36c pre preg) which is pretty average but they were getting a bit tight so tried the calculator and I've come out at 36 g Shock but having tried some 36 e and f and g, they're such a better fit. Apparently a lot the fat we consider back / front fat is actually breast tissue and should be scooped into the bra, it sounds mad but it works and is much more comfortable!

Seahawk80 · 06/06/2017 15:21

Hi moose hope something happens soon!

We've got mice in our kitchen (again) it's really common in London but it's getting me down having to wash everything up before I use it. I got a quote from rentokil but they want almost £900!! Might have to look for a cheaper option. It's not a serious problem and they don't think the nest is in our flat so that's something.
