#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Checking in quickly, fell off the thread for a while, finding this baby/parenting malarkey very full on!! Grin Got a very Velcro and very windy and sicky baby so my hands are almost always full and I just don't know where the time goes! Loving it though, she is just the cutest thing ever, her face is getting so much more expressive all the time! She's really growing now too, no longer a little ditty newborn. Can't believe she's just over a month old already!!

How are you and baby getting on Fishy?

So exciting how close it is for you now Moose that time has just flown! Glad you managed the wedding relatively well. Hope you don't have too long to wait, I know to well that pain of going (ridiculously!) overdue! Most first timers are overdue but hopefully you won't go as long as me!! Make sure you go for a long walk after your sweep, midwife who did my third sweep which finally kick started labour the next day said they always tell people to go for a decent walk after the sweep but what they really mean is at least an hour and a half and to walk up and down some hills too if possible!! It worked for me anyway!

I've got brother's wedding next month, have ordered the entirety of ASOS nursing dresses and sent them all back too... have just done a seraphine order and think I may have a keeper, thank goodness!

Kav bump shoot sounds great, were you pleased with the pictures? I think it was you who was suffering with carpal tunnel and swollen feet/ankles too? I second what audrey said about the exercises and stretches - mine got pretty bad but I think it would've got worse otherwise had i not done them. Most of the fluid rention and swelling has gone now but my feet still seem to be too big for my shoes Sad I'm currently living in flip flops and the pair of slip on trainers I bought in a half size up in the third trimester Hmm neither of them are going to do for the wedding next month!!

Still need to catch up with the thread properly but hope everyone is doing ok especially in this recent heat! Was thinking of everyone pregnant in that heat, I as melting and was v glad not to be preggers anymore!! Although was stressed as to what baby marmite should be wearing and whether she was overheating constantly!
Welcome and congrats the newcomers too! Smile

MissyJones80s · 30/05/2017 19:22

Hi all just found this thread!!! Coming over as a tentative grad as I know all can change so quickly but got my BFP on 19 May.

Miranda234 · 30/05/2017 21:38

Congratulations missy 😊

Glad all is ok with you seahawk, that must have been scary.

Hopefully not long for you to go now moose, very exciting!!

Sounds like you have your hands full marmite but sounds wonderful 😊

I survived the hen weekend and managed to stay out until 1am both nights, I must be in the stage where I have more energy, although I'm shattered now!!

MissyJones80s · 30/05/2017 21:56

Just catching up on the thread...some of the posts re symptoms are really helpful. I've had on off cramping since just before AF due...consequently I thought I was out and went for cocktails with friends hmm anyway I am still getting those cramps and still on pant watch!!! So good to hear others talk about these cramps.
Question...and sorry for tmi in advance... I'm a fairly regular in the number 2 department like generally every morning first thing, for the past week or so and it's less regular and I can go 2 days without...I hear progesterone can slow stuff down is this just that do you think? Did you guys notice anything like this?

MissyJones80s · 30/05/2017 21:56

Now tocatch up on rest of thread!

Starmist · 31/05/2017 05:22

Bluebell baby shower & christening were lovely thanks. After 16 weeks you should sleep on your side as baby will rest on main vein that goes from lower body to heart so can affect your circulation & blood flow to placenta, & it could make you dizzy. I started using my pregnancy pillow a couple of weeks before as I loved sleeping on my back & so I was worried about the change. Being on your back for a bit won't hurt so don't worry, though at 27 weeks now my tummy feels heavy if I'm on my back. Good luck for your scan on Thursday, let us know how it goes.

Music at antenatal class the midwife that runs it said she's no idea where the 'left side is best' thing came from & neither do some of the consultants she asked at the hospital. She said lie on whichever side you want, the main thing is that your getting rest so do what's comfortable. Since being pregnant I wake up so easily it's rubbish. Baby can keep me awake but only if he's really going crazy or if how he's kicking is uncomfortable, but it's not long before he'll take a nap & I'll get a break from it. Even if I'm tired I love lying there feeling him kicking, it's so amazing. Argh annoying, hope your start date gets sorted soon.

Glad you made it through the wedding Moose! FX baby makes an appearance soon.

Sorry not got time to catch up fully so haven't read the last few posts yet. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Carley27 · 31/05/2017 09:05

Wow over a month already marmite, time flies! You sound like you're doing really well!

Hi missy - congratulations! How are you feeling?

Great effort for the hen do Miranda, I'm currently struggling to stay up past 10.30!

FXSkip · 31/05/2017 09:38

A month Marmite!! That's crazy!! I've been pretty absent from this thread, but been trying to keep track just don't often seem to have time to post.

Welcome missy I remember you from the TTC thread, so delighted to have you here as a grad! I think about the others all the time, I hope they are all ok. I found pg really messed up my system the same way, it got better eventually but I need to be sure to eat plenty of fibre :)
Also, I'm now in 3rd trimester, finally stopped pant checking. Sort of, I mean I still have a quick peek every available opportunity. Eventually, you'll feel bubs moving around and it will start to feel more real but for now just be as patient as you can!! Any other symptoms? How many weeks are you?

Last night DH came home looking very pleased with himself - he'd been out and bought a crib, sleepyhead sleep pod, breast pump, baby monitor, lots of sleepsuits and a changing mat! I was just sat on the sofa munching chocolate, felt like the worst mum ever ha ha! He's loving it though, so excited - I actually cant wait to see him hold his baby Grin Just 13 (ish) weeks to go!!!

MrsG280516 · 31/05/2017 13:07

Wow, I can't believe Baby Marmite is a month old already. Time is flying by.

We start our midwife ran antenatal classes next Tuesday, I'm excited to actually be told something even though I've probably read it in a baby/birth book already. My midwife appointments so far have been pretty shocking so far, they always seem so rushed and its not personalised at all, just box ticking!

Congrats Missy, wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months.

I'm at 30+3 now and luckily no swelling yet, I suspect I'm carrying a bit of water retention from holiday as I weighed in about 5lbs up from the week before but I managed to get my wedding and engagement rings back on comfortably today so that's good. I suspect that baby girl is still head down as bump feels like its lower now and I keep getting the odd kick in the ribs every now and then along with lots of ripples and rolls.

Hope you're doing okay Fishy!

Not long now Moose, hope that baby doesn't keep you waiting too long.

MissyJones80s · 31/05/2017 13:59

Hi fx carly good to see some familiar names on here all doing well too Grin
Only symptoms I have are on off cramping which makes me feel like AF on way, bit tired I guess, boobs really sore oh and the sluggish digestion thing. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow based on when I ovulated so maybe some more symptoms will kick in from then on...when did people's morning sickness kick in on here? I've been sleeping next to ginger biscuits since I found out just in cases lol

FXSkip · 31/05/2017 14:16

Ha ha missy I remember smugly thinking I'd escaped ms until week 8 (roughly) and I just felt awfully hungover every day until about 15wks. Since then I've felt amazing until about 24wks and then I started to have low BP issues. I never found early morning biscuits helped, I usually just got up and ate fruit first thing.

Carley27 · 31/05/2017 15:27

Missy I'm 10+4 and haven't had any morning sickness. Only symptoms I've had are sore boobs and some tiredness. I know a lack of symptoms can be a bit worrying but some of us just seem to get lucky and avoid them!

MrsG280516 · 31/05/2017 16:34

No morning sickness for me, a few days where I felt a dodgy but it was mainly the exhaustion that got me between about week 7 and 12. Since then I've had a super smooth pregnancy, so not everyone gets lots of symptoms.

glitteryvibes · 31/05/2017 17:49

Glad to see you here missy I had waves of nausea from 4 weeks but didn't actually start vomiting or retching till just before 6 weeks, then daily vomiting from 8/9 weeks and on a bad day 10+ times. But I would say the constant nausea is easing and I get few hour stretches during the day where I don't actually feel sick now so hoping this is the beginginng of the end of the sickness! I'm 10+6 today. most my friends didn't get sickness just nausea or food aversions from 6-11/12 weeks, apart from one who had hypermesis until birth which must have been awful.

In other news I had to go bra shopping today in an acceptance that none of mine now fit. The fitter said that the average is up 4 cup sizes and 2 back sizes by term!! Surly not!?! I'm not the biggest in than department to begin with but I can imagine if you are then up 4 sizes is a bit insane.

Mrsbluebell17 · 31/05/2017 21:03

So pleased to see you here missy. How are you doing? I've not been sick (thankfully) but have some really strong nauseous waves and just so so exhausted around 7 weeks until now. Like skip I keep describing it as feeling like I'm hungover to my DH!

Wow that's some good going Miranda! Well done!

Thanks Starmist. I was just thinking that all being well with the scan tomorrow (I'm so so nervous I can't tell you!) then I'll order the pregnancy pillow. I'm hurting my back at the moment as I'm tense when lying in bed as worrying about rolling onto my back I think.

Great to hear from you too marmite can't believe it's been a month!!

Skip that's so lovely of your DH. Made me smile. What a sweetheart.

How are you doing fishy?
*
Moose* you will be in my thoughts for the next week or two - hoping for a smooth delivery for you.

Miranda234 · 31/05/2017 21:16

Good luck with your scan tomorrow bluebell, it's an amazing experience 😊

I'm another one who got away without the sickness (so far!) although I did have nausea and as others have said just felt like I had a hangover everyday, luckily that went a couple of weeks ago, I'm 14+5 now.

Mrsbluebell17 · 31/05/2017 21:35

Thanks Miranda. I'm just so worried something will be wrong tomorrow Sad

Musicgrrl · 01/06/2017 07:36

Don't have time for a full catch up but wanted to say good luck today bluebell! I was exactly the same as you with the nerves - it's a completely normal reaction but I'm sure everything will be fine. It's great that you've already had two scans already!

Mrsbluebell17 · 01/06/2017 07:50

Thanks music Grin

macsworth · 01/06/2017 08:07

Meaning to do a proper catch up post (I've been reading along!) but just wanted to say good luck as well Bluebell

And congratulations Missy

marmitecheesetoast · 01/06/2017 08:26

Aw Skip that's so adorable of your DH! How exciting! I can't believe you're so far along now I feel like you just got your bfp!!

missy I started with nausea about 5/6 weeks which progressively got worse and stated actually being sick a few weeks later and that lasted to 14 weeks. I think it can hit anytime in T1 but fx you might avoid it!

That sounds like an awful lot glittery?! I was a 34B pre-preg and went up 2 back sizes and 1 cup size by term I think. Started wearing nursing bras mid way through T3 which came in s,m,l etc rather than in specific cup sizes. Everybody is different though of course!

Good luck for the scan today bluebell

Another rather disturbed night here I really do feel like all I do is feed feed feed!! Baby marmite certainly has a very good appetite now after her initial rocky start! She's putting on so much weight and seems so big now! Although still smaller than average for her age. She's not my teeny newborn anymore though!! Shock Hoping to pop out and meet some of the NCT girls and babies for a picnic this afternoon, will have to see what kind of mood mini marmite is in though, still feel unprepared to go out for too long/too far from the house with her on my own as she can still be so fussy and get so uncontrollably hysterical Confused Hopefully we'll make it and will go ok though! Think you've just got to force yourself to take these steps even if they scare you...

MrsG280516 · 01/06/2017 09:44

Glittery I think it really depends, I went up a cup size within a few weeks of my BFP and now in T3 I've gone from 34A pre-preg to a 36C or 38B depending on how comfortable the back size is. So three sizes overall anyway. Once your milk comes in if you're planning on feeding then you usually go up at least another size there as well.

FXSkip · 01/06/2017 12:38

glittery sounds like your first tri was horrible! Hopefully you are better now! Also after 15weeks my boobs deflated again, and I'm back in the larger of my pre-pregnancy bras. My nipples however are enormous and black!!!!

Carley27 · 01/06/2017 13:48

4 cup and 2 back sizes?? I bloody hope not as mine are big enough as it is! I've had to dig out my bigger bras from my heavier unhealthy student days but think I may invest in some new comfy ones soon. I can't sleep without a bra on anymore or they are very sore in the morning Blush

Good luck/hope scan went well bluebell (not sure if you're morning or afternoon!)

Mrsbluebell17 · 01/06/2017 18:47

So the news from our scan is that all is ok, baby was playing cheeky monkeys so i had to have an internal too but luckily they got the measurements they need and they told me I'll hear back in 2-3 weeks about the results of the screening tests. Got forward dated to 12+5 so my EDD is now 9th December. Exciting times!
