#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

seahawk the aircon in our office is broken. Combined with the tube and the train my commute has become a nightmare in the heat! I am now very direct about asking for a seat if I need one.

Recent symptom development here: my boobs are leaking! It started as just one but now they seem to both do it at random times of the day. They are doing it now. I was very freaked out the first time. It just looks watery. I might need to buy some nipple pads already... Anyone else?? Sorry for the overshare.

I had my 28 week growth scan today. All was looking good. I did slightly doubt the accuracy of the measurements the sonographer was taking and she was using a new piece of equipment that she wasn't familiar with so I am taking them with a pinch of salt! Baby looks to be around average on most things although has slightly short femurs and is a little small on weight estimate. Nothing at the far ends of the percentile ranges though. She is also currently head down! Hopefully getting some practice in.

In other news - I got the promotion I applied for! Interview was last week and I heard this week. I'm very excited but I have realised that it means a busy last couple of months at work. Also I think I'll only take up the post for one month before I go on mat leave which feels a bit awkward as I'm supposed to be managing a team of 25. Not sure what impact I can have in the role for a month!

Sorry for doing such a big news download. I don't normally have this much to say! I'll do some more thread catch up after I actually have washed my hair...

Seahawk80 · 25/05/2017 22:30

Oh yes - sorry fishy baby brain kicking in!

Enjoy the wedding music* I don't blame you having a quiet night! A woman in my nct had leaky boobs from 16 weeks so I think it's uncommon this early but not a problem. You'll be a pro with the breast pads by the time baby comes!

Seahawk80 · 25/05/2017 22:32

Ps
Congrats on the promotion music Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 26/05/2017 02:54

Really struggling to sleep in this heat tonight. Sad

Feel like my body temperature is just through the roof.

Carley27 · 26/05/2017 10:42

Good to hear you've got some respite from the heat seahawk, my office is fairly cold too although I'm not appreciating it at the moment!

Hope you have a great time at the hen do Miranda! Hope drinking more water helps with the headaches.

Oh how exciting Moose, glad your last appointment went well - not long to go now!

Congratulations Eva :) not long to go until your scan (although I know it feels like forever at the time Grin). We're not telling anybody until after 12 week scan (other than my best friend who I told after early scan as it would have been really hard to keep it secret due to plans we had).

Miranda234 · 26/05/2017 13:00

Congratulations on the promotion music, hope you're enjoying the wedding!

Sorry you're struggling in the heat bluebell- I use 'kool'n'soothe' strips for when I have headaches (there's no medication in them, it's like a cold gel strip you put across your forehead) might be worth getting some as they might help bring your temperature down? I find them good for headaches too. Hope you sleep better tonight.

Have a good long weekend everyone 😊

Carley27 · 26/05/2017 13:20

Oops I totally missed the last page of the thread! Congratulations on your promotion Music :) glad it worked out. And good news too with the growth scan!

kavanaughkj · 26/05/2017 14:54

Hey - congrats on the promotion Music! And Moose, good luck in the weeks ahead, hoping it all goes well for you :)

Gorgeous gorgeous day here today. Have just enjoyed a leisurely lunch in a pub garden with colleagues - long may this sunshine continue!

Hello everyone sorry I've been absent recently.

Congrats on the promotion Music! I get crusty milky nips, had them for quite a few weeks. It freaked me out at first & I kept trying to clean them but it came back so quickly I didn't see the point so I've just left them alone 🙈

I love my pregnancy pillow. I have the massive u shaped one as I used to always sleep on my back so I figured I'd need a big one to keep me on my side. It's very supportive for my back. The only thing is there's no room for DH so he's in the spare room! Probably for the best though with how much I wake up in the night.

Baby has decided he doesn't like me sleeping on my left side. Literally as soon as I move onto that side he's kicking me & if I don't move he gets stronger until I'm so uncomfortable I let him win & roll over. I don't feel any movement at all when I'm on my right side. Little monkey!

Not enjoying this heat. Bought a fan today so hopefully that'll help tonight.

I have a baby shower & a christening this weekend. Hope you all have a lovely long weekend.

Mooseville · 27/05/2017 11:56

Star If you are worried about less movement they tell you to lie on your left hand side for a bit to get it to move, so sounds like baby is behaving perfectly!!!
Congrats on the promotion music

My later midwfie appts have been ok, a nice reassurance, but they don't really do much! Blood pressure, urine check, in and out in 5 mins!
I've managed ok in the heat so far, just took things slowly. I went to the hairdressers though yesterday and wow that was hot! I was so sweaty, definitely not a pamper!
Just hoping baby stays out until Tuesday after the wedding!

Seahawk80 · 27/05/2017 15:36

I ended up in hospital this morning as I tripped up the steps in our flat and although I didn't hit the bump because I'm rhesus negative I had to go in. All was fine although I had a horrible stingy anti d. Nice to listen into baby and everyone there was lovely. Also discovered that I have a uti - I thought I was just uncomfortable as I'm further along so glad I don't have to put up with this for another 5 weeks!

Just checking in on our last day on holiday, about to come home in a few hours 😭 we've had a week in Santorini and it's been glorious.

Well done on the promotion Music that's great news and you must have really impressed them that they've not just turned you down for being pregnant!

Hi to anyone new! Can't believe I'll be hitting 30 weeks tomorrow Shock

glitteryvibes · 27/05/2017 18:41

music massive congrats on the promotion.

seahawk glad no damage is done, sorry about the uti though, hope it clears up nice and quickly. I think tripping is actually going to be the main hazard for me at work, screw the endless list on the risk assessment, tripping is defitnely going to be an issue, I went flying over a dog that got under my feet while I was walking it too kennels and managed to stay on my feet but I'm thinking if I'd had a bump making me imbalanced I'd have probably ended up on the floor.

bluebell with you with the heat, it seems to have made my sickness so much worse, or it's not related and at 10 weeks my body has just decided it no longer needs my stomach contents.

Enjoy the hen do miranda

moose hope the baby stays put until after the wedding, although in some ways imagine the stories you could tell if you had a dramatic Hollywood style water break at the wedding...

I have my 12 week scan date now, it's in a couple of weeks and I should be closer to 13 weeks then.

Hope your all enjoying the long weekend!

Carley27 · 27/05/2017 19:24

Oh Seahawk glad you and baby are both ok after your tumble!

Glad you had a nice holiday MrsG. And happy 30 weeks tomorrow 😀

Starmist · 27/05/2017 19:37

Moose oh I had heard that but didn't put two & two together... just thought baby was intent on disrupting my sleep hehe!

Seahawk sorry to hear about your fall, I'm glad you & baby are ok.

MrsG so jealous of your holiday, bet you've had an amazing time.

Glittery you poor thing, hope the sicky stage passes soon.

My feet are really swelling up in this heat. Been doing those recommended exercises in that booklet in the Bounty pack but not sure they are helping. Good excuse for me to sit with my feet up though! Wink

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 04:48

Congrats on the promotion music.

Star* I hope the baby shower and christening went ok, and you're getting more sleep now. I keep waking up panicking I'm on my back, even though I went to sleep on my side. I think I need a pregnancy pillow to help keep me in position. I'm a fidgety sleeper. I read that sleeping on your back is a no no? Any advice?
I hope you've been able to get more rest now it's cooled down slightly too. I was the same, couldn't sleep in the heat (but the daytime was amazing in the sun at lunchtimes)

Glad to hear you're good too moose. Fingers crossed for baby staying away until post wedding for you.

Oh no, that sounds scary Seahawk. I'm glad to hear you and baby are ok though, take it super easy where you can now.

Mrsg I hope you've had a fab time. I'm keeping an eye on your blog posts since you shared it before.

Hope you're feeling better now glittery, now that it's cooled down a bit. My symptoms come in waves I've found but haven't lessened at all overall I don't think and I'm 11+3 now. I'm ok with it though as symptomless would also make me worry. Our scan is on Thursday so I'm a little nervous again already.

Sorry for the long catch up, been meaning to do this for a day or two! Wide awake at 4am again......

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 04:49

Oh bold fail Blush

Seahawk80 · 28/05/2017 07:46

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling fine but so glad I went and got checked - you do never know and I'd be panicking every time baby had a quiet spell. I'm also so glad they have said I have a uti as I was feeling really uncomfortable around the bladder and would feel like I needed to go again 5 mins after every wee. I assumed it was just the baby pressing down and was dreading the next 5 weeks. If any of you feel like that def worth getting checked out!

mrsg hope you had a lovely time. V jealous you went to Greece. We were meant to be going to Corfu in 3 weeks but obviously will be staying at home instead. I love Greece -
will def be going there as a family soon!

bluebell I don't think it's the end of the world to end up on your back. The main thing about sleeping on your left is to encourage baby into the right position but I can't sleep all night on the same side. I read that it can restrict blood flow sleeping on the back but you're not going to do any damage ending up on it for a few hours. I've found that I snore once on my back and usually wake myself or DH wakes me! Oh the glamour of pregnancy!

Sorry to everyone suffering in the heat - I can imagine it's not fun. I think it's meant to cool down today.

Seahawk80 · 28/05/2017 07:49

Ps hope baby stays out for you moose!

glitter watch out for those dogs - hope
your scan comes along quickly for you.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/05/2017 08:37

Thanks for the reassurance Seahawk. Smile

Musicgrrl · 30/05/2017 07:36

Another long time since I caught up!

Seahawk so glad to hear you and baby seahawk are okay. I have definitely noticed the change in my balance recently so it's easily done. Great that they picked up the uti issue though! Was that something they tested for in the normal urine tests or did you raise the symptoms specifically? The reason I ask is that I have recurrent thrush which was bad in first trimester and has returned for the third but I do wonder whether it's more than just that. Especially as I took a pessary on Thursday night but still have symptoms. I've booked a GP appointment this week just to check. Also, thanks for the leaky boob reassurance from nct!

moose was wedding yesterday or is it today? Hope you had/have a lovely time! And that baby doesn't think about showing up early!

Star hope you aren't too tired after baby shower and christening! I have a problem with the right/left lying side in bed. I always tart on my left and wake up on my right but it has given me a really sore right hip. I ordered a pregnancy pillow this weekend though finally so hopefully that will help! Does baby keep you awake at night with his wriggling?

Anyone struggling with the heat - this week looks a lot cooler, fingers crossed! We must be the only people that think like this as summer arrives!

Thank you everyone for your promotions congratulations. I am currently now going through a bit of a nightmare where my old and new bosses argue about what my start date should be which means that I haven't been issued with a formal offer letter that I can sign yet - making me nervous!

Mrsg glad you had an amazing time on your holiday. Were you affected by the BA issues when flying back? Hope not! Yikes, 30 weeks! I'm one behind you at 29 but now that the countdown says 10 days and X days it is starting to feel really close! My DH is finally starting to express an interest in learning about labour so I have been reading snippets of my book to him each night. Last night was on the topic of 'will I poo in labour?' Grin

glittery at least with a slightly later 12 week scan you are closer to the 20 week scan milestone afterwards!

Train has arrived in so sorry to those that I haven't managed to reply to yet!

Seahawk80 · 30/05/2017 08:24

Thanks music as far as I know they always test for utis when they test your urine. I didn't ask about it - had just assumed it was another unglamorous symptom towards the end!

Mooseville · 30/05/2017 11:04

The wedding was yesterday and baby is still intact thank goodness!! Coped quite well, the hardest part was the meal and speeches, the seat wasn't very comfortable and sitting in one place gave me BH and I was dying for it all to end! However I went for a lie down in the room in the lull between day/night and lasted till about 10:30 when I took my 6 month nephew back to the room to let DP and his sister enjoy the last hour of the disco without a baby and pregnant lady cramping their style!
Operation get baby out is in full swing from now. Raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, ball bouncing! Having a sweep on Sat on my due date - I really hope I don't go overdue but it feels like I will at the moment!

Hope everyone is a bit cooler this week!

Carley27 · 30/05/2017 11:14

Glad wedding went well Moose! Hope baby doesn't keep you waiting too long, you'll have to let us know if anything helps bring on the labour :)
