Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Another pregnancy pillow fan here! I've suffered badly in the past with my back and DH knew it so ordered me a pillow about the same point of my pregnancy as Wanting. He shot himself in the foot a bit though as now he can't cuddle me because the pillow gets in the way! I love it though - not a single twinge with my back since I started using it and I was so worried I'd have real troubles with it given my history. When I've been on holiday abroad since using it I had to improvise a pillow out of the extra duvet they'd given us or I'd have ached for sure - as for my trip to Cornwall, the pillow is probably coming with us!

So glad the scan went well bluebell - sorry it's only the one but glad that one is healthy. Flowers

Acid reflux is the worst. :( I've actually (tmi alert) thrown up in my mouth in the middle of the night in the last week or so and had to swallow it back down again or risk it going all over the floor. Revolting and burny and thank God for Gaviscon. I've been sleeping with an extra pillow under my head to keep me propped up a bit too which I'm finding is helping - that and not eating too late in the evening.

Thinking of investing in a t-shirt with 'Brought to you by Gaviscon' on it to give birth in! Grin I'm still so massively grateful to be pregnant but some of the side effects are unpleasant, to say the least ... that said, I'm loving the kicks now. Kav Jr has gotten in some proper boots to my lower stomach lately and I've even seen my belly move - the oddest, sweetest thing!

Thanks for all the replies about when to get a pregnancy pillow. I'm nearly ten weeks now which I appreciate is still early days, so I will try and resist buying anything yet but I might start looking into them ready for a few weeks time. Any recommendations of specific ones that aren't too pricey?

WantingBaby1 · 16/05/2017 22:25

This is my one. I love it! And it was a bargain compared to others. The cover is a bit scratchy if you're used to good quality sheets but I pop a pillow ontop and it's fine.

Thanks wanting. That's great. Not sure where DH will fit in the bed when I have one of those. Hehe.

Musicgrrl · 16/05/2017 23:57

Thanks wanting. I'm also interested to hear what people have. I've seen boomerang shaped ones that you cuddle and go through your legs but they don't support your back. I'm not sure if that will do or whether the back bit really helps? I'm aware of space in the bed!

kavanaughkj · 17/05/2017 11:22

Mine's like Wanting's, Music, except that I turn it up the other way and sort of slot myself into the 'U' as I already have pillows I like to rest my head on! I find it very supportive for my back, though - it's like sleeping and being hugged - and I'll have a tough time giving it up once the baby arrives! May keep it to guard against future back problems :)

MrsG that little bottom lip on the last photo is so cute!

Have been really interested in the pregnancy pillow talk. Will definitely be looking into one although at the moment I sleep like a log almost anywhere...train, sofa, kitchen table!

We had our 12 week scan this morning and everything is great. It's so amazing to see the baby moving about on the screen. At 9 weeks, it was just a blob, it's grown so much!! I measured 2 days ahead which is odd as I was sure I was later due to Ov date but I'm not arguing! Due date 30th Nov.

Beautiful scans mrsg and macs

Got to wait for my letter for scan date now after my booking In yesterday. Hoping it will be close to 12 weeks and not closer to the 14 like they say it can sometimes be if busy...if it ends up that late I may not resist the urge to scan myself at work which I'm sure is a bad idea as I obviously don't know how to scan people... my dp doesn't think it's worth paying for an early reassurance scan as in his words "I'm waking him up vomiting first thing every day so I'm clearly pregnant"

Seahawk80 · 19/05/2017 22:28

Lovely scan pics! I've never really had any good ones - baby must take after DH and hate the camera - so I'm v envious.

I got a mothercare pillow that is long and straight, I thought the u shape would take up too much room. It was fine early on but now I find I roll onto my back and snore quite a lot, I'd prob get a I shape if I got another one.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Miranda234 · 20/05/2017 08:55

Hi ladies,

Please can I join you all? I was on the TTC#1 thread and have been lurking here ever since I got my BFP! We had our 12 week scan on Wednesday so I'm feeling much better now I know there's actually a baby there!! Due date is 24th November so close to you macs 😊 it's amazing seeing them moving around on the screen isn't it? I couldn't believe how much movement there was!

Hope you get your appointment through soon glittery I think mine came through a few days after my booking in app.

Lovely scan pics mrsg amazing to see so much detail. I bet you can't stop looking at them 😊

Hope all the new mummies are doing ok, it's so lovely to hear your experiences.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Mrsbluebell17 · 20/05/2017 09:34

Amazing scan pics all!

Great to hear from you Miranda. Like glittery I'm waiting for my scan date anxiously too. My booking in appt was weds so I'm hoping to hear something asap.

Mooseville · 20/05/2017 12:29

Welcome miranda Great scan pics everyone!

On the pregnancy pillows I got a U shaped one from Amazon for about £35 too and it's been a godsend! Not much room for DP in the bed - but I wouldn't be without it now. Really helps me get comfy.

38 weeks today! Had a growth scan this week as the measurement were all over the place - bang on average size - currently 7lb 2oz estimate! Eeek!

DP's sisters wedding is next week, I'll be 39+4 - praying I don't give birth on the dancefloor Grin Managed to find a dress but it's just a pleated black Maxi which is a bit boring, but the one I looked least whale like in!

WantingBaby1 · 20/05/2017 13:04

Lovely scans ladies! So reassuring to have that 12 week one.

Welcome newbies!

We're 28+2 here and despite it finally being the third trimester (yay!) Im actually feeling a bit better. Fewer aches and pains and my body confidence has gone up now that bump is looking like a proper bump and not a "could she just be chubby?!" bump. Had my 28 wk midwife apt this week and baby is measuring spot on which is reassuring. I feel enormous though!

You're so close to d day moose! So exciting. Hope you enjoy the wedding :) sounds like a bit of dancing could get things moving. Have you got a birth plan sorted?

Happy weekend ladies

LovelyFishy · 20/05/2017 20:07

Welcome Miranda and congratulations!

Re: pregnancy pillow I got a DreamGeni as it didn't take up the whole bed plus can double up as a breast feeding support pillow. Found it really good and you can buy pretty covers for it (priorities right!).

Glad to hear scans and appointments going well for everyone. Smile

AudreyBradshaw · 20/05/2017 20:14

Loving all these scan pictures! This time last year I had my first scan, time has flown ! Can't believe I have an almost 6 month old!

Enjoy the wedding moose

Mrsbluebell17 · 20/05/2017 22:42

I've got a question for all of those of you that are further along..... or had your babies now......
when did you start showing?

AudreyBradshaw · 20/05/2017 23:36

Probably about 25/26 weeks when it was obvious I was pregnant and not just full. I exploded at the end though. I was colossal. (He was 8lb 15oz and long though.) It was all water retention and baby.

Seahawk80 · 21/05/2017 10:01

Welcome miranda and congratulations!

bluebell I think I was about 23 weeks when we came back from Mauritius and I felt like I was really showing. I feel enormous now at 34 weeks!

moose so close now, you must be so excited!

A day of DIY here for us, getting all those last jobs done before the baby. Also going to take the buggy out of the boxes and put it together Smile

Carley27 · 21/05/2017 10:22

MrsG your scan pic is adorable! Glad she showed her face this time 🙂

Hope you get your scan date soon glittery, the waiting is awful! I think it's just very different for men and women as I'm also tempted to get a reassurance scan (we had one at 7 weeks following a bleed but I can't stop worrying) but DH thinks the 12 week scan is only 3 and a half weeks away so may as well wait. Men just don't get it 😬

Hi Miranda - lovely scan pic ☺️

Ooh moose you're so close now! Hope you enjoy the wedding, I'm sure you will look fab!

Also interested to hear when people looked definitely pregnant! I am being a bridesmaid at 16 weeks so a bit early for a proper bump but hoping I don't look tubby/bursting out my dress 😳

Tonks87 · 21/05/2017 12:02

Bluebell I think it varies a lot from person to person. I'm 16 weeks and look very obviously pregnant and have for the last couple of weeks.

Great scan pics everyone, I love seeing them!

Very exciting that you're so close Moose! I'm sure you'll look great at the wedding and it's a great chance to get some nice bump photos.

We paid for an early gender scan yesterday and have joined team blue 💙. It was amazing to see him again, we even got a 3D sneak peak 😍

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/05/2017 16:24

Thanks for all the lovely replies re when you started to show. I've started to get a little podge and I'm only 10+3 so will see what happens.

Musicgrrl · 21/05/2017 17:15

Loving all the happy news and scan pics here!

tonks congratulations on your baby boy! It's lovely to find out isn't it! We waited until our 20 week scan but then kept the news that we are team pink to ourselves. We have a growth scan this week and are going to pretend we found out then and start telling people (I know that sounds weird but we didn't know whether we'd want to share our news with friends and family IRL or keep it a surprise!)

bluebell I felt like I looked pregnant from around 16 weeks but in reality it was only me and my DH that could see anything until around 22 weeks. It definitely depended on what I was wearing and the time of day though.

carley I would have loved a scan every other week if I could! It seemed so long to wait. I'm sure the time will start to go faster for you between the 12 and 20 week scans. I am going to be a bridesmaid at 35 and 36 weeks which I think is just going to be hilarious for how big I look!

seahawk hope the DIY is going well! We started to decorate the nursery yesterday although I think it will be slow going. It must be starting to get quite real for you now!

audrey I wondered about post baby body stuff. I am going to a wedding when baby should be around 6-8 weeks old. I would love to buy an outfit beforehand but I think it would be too much of a risk. How were you feeling about things around then? Same question to marmite and fishy!

fishy I basically really want a dream geni pillow but I wish I had bought it earlier to make it easier to justify the cost!! How are things going? Do you have a hen do coming up or was that someone else with a hen do v close after baby due date?

wanting I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and will be so happy to reach that milestone! In contrast to you I am starting to feel a lot of the third trimester niggles - bad leg cramps at night, insomnia, needing a nap in the afternoon and sore hip and back when I wake up in the morning. My DH is offering me little sympathy and seems to think it's all rather funny! Not sure how long my good humour with him will last... Having said that I am really enjoying it and all these things are totally manageable at the moment.

moose it's so close now - how exciting! How are you feeling about the wedding? I hope they spoil and indulge you!

miranda so glad you've joined us and what a great scan pic!

Sorry to those I've missed, I am posting this now in case I lose it!

Musicgrrl · 21/05/2017 17:17

I have been procrastinating away the afternoon and have realised that I only have 4 work dresses that actually fit now. I really hate spending money on work clothes so think I am going to try and get some calf length jersey dresses in navy/black from primark or h&m and limp through with those! Our office has no air con so I feel like they will need to cut me some slack over the summer...

glitteryvibes · 21/05/2017 17:28

music do you have quite a strict dress code for work? Thankfully my work provide the uniform so they will just have to buy me maternity versions once stuff doesn't fit, so I don't have to spend too much!

bluebell looking back at my friends bump photos most of them look obviously pregnant around 16 weeks but then they do say they were trying to make it more obvious/sticking it out and it probably wasn't clear cut until closer to 20 weeks, apart from one friend who was very clearly pregnant at 12 weeks.

On the wedding chat I have one wedding when I'll be 20 something weeks and the 2 in the couple of months after being due. Hoping I'll get away with one of my more flowey maxi dresses or something.
