#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Congratulations fishy hope you're enjoying all the newborn cuddles!!

WantingBaby1 · 12/05/2017 20:09

Congratulations fishy wonderful news.

Been having a rough week...back pain, leg pain, migraine pain, acid reflux pain, integestion pain...all of the pain! I am so lucky to be pregnant but honestly these symptoms suck :(

Mrsbluebell17 · 12/05/2017 21:32

Hey everyone. Hope you're all doing well. Just posted on the December due date forum too but wanted to ask you lovely ladies too - I have had a sore throat for a few days and it's got worse tonight. It hurts when I swallow. Is there anything I can take to make it better asap?

Starmist · 13/05/2017 06:49

Ahhh congratulations Fishy hope you & baby are well.

Sorry you're feeling poorly Mrsblue. I had a cold & sore throat a couple of months back, it was miserable. Plenty of rest & fluids. Take time off work if you need it. Warm water & honey should help.

We had our first antenatal class the other night, I really enjoyed it. There's 4 other couples that seem nice, hope we make some friends out of it.

Baby has been having a dance party this morning. Wish I had as much energy!

FXSkip · 13/05/2017 08:21

Aww wanting it's hard isnt it, but that's what we're here for! For indigestion and acid reflux try eating really slowly, just small meals more often - i split my lunch and dinners up into two and often leave an hour or so in between each half. For all the pain maybe have a warm bath and a cup of cool peppermint tea? It will pass, chin up

Mrsbluebell17 · 13/05/2017 09:00

Thanks Starmist. I'll get some honey in.

Wanting* I hope you're ok.

Wanting hope you're feeling better soon xx

Mooseville · 13/05/2017 18:12

Hello everyone! I'm still here - all doing well. Sorry for being AWOL - still no internet in the new house while waiting for fibre and the phone signal is very intermittent for browsing!
Congrats Fishy!!! And so lovely to hear things are going well marmite! I think I've got a bit more to catch up on too as I've only flipped back a page at the moment!

37 weeks today - aargh! Started maternity leave which is lovely! I could get used to this, the new house is beginning to feel like home as I've managed to get most stuff unpacked!
I'll send this now while my signal is good and try to pop backwards and read what I've missed!

AudreyBradshaw · 13/05/2017 20:33

Just a quickie, boohoo.com now make maternity clothes. Thought I'd let y'all know, although I'm actually furious as last year they did not amd I could have done with some! (I'm still wearing my maternity tops, they're just suuuper baggy now!)

Musicgrrl · 14/05/2017 10:16

Sorry, need to do a more comprehensive catch up but just jumped on to say good luck with your scan bluebell!

We've just begun our holiday in the Lake District and I have already eaten my body weight in dinner and breakfast!

kavanaughkj · 14/05/2017 10:55

Awwww what lovely news - congrats Fishy! That was a little early I think - I need to update the due date list.

Enjoy the Lake District Music! So pretty up there, I'm off to Cornwall for a week beginning of June and really looking forward to it.

Hugs to you Wanting. I've had dreadful problems with acid reflux myself too - virtually chugging Gaviscon out of the bottle!

Busy here building nursery furniture. We now have a changing table! :)

Enjoy the Lake District music

Good luck today bluebell

wanting I don't get heartburn / reflux that often but I sometimes wake up in the night really suffering. I bought the gaviscon sachets and keep one on my bedside table so that it's there when it happens! Was so grateful for it last night! Do you have a pregnancy pillow? I felt really achy when I was in Madrid over Easter and realised it was due to sleeping without mine.

All good here, 33 weeks today. Starting to feel enormous and can't see how I can do another 7 weeks and get even bigger!

Mrsbluebell17 · 14/05/2017 11:40

Thanks for all your thoughts this morning!! It's just one baby, all confirmed. We are a little gutted as twins would have been amazing but we are equally relieved as the risks with the type of twins they thought were so high. So it's good news overall. One healthy baby so far. Measuring at 9+4 now! So I've gained a day! Amazing to see little arms and legs this time!

glitteryvibes · 14/05/2017 11:50

Aw shame about the twins but good news about having one healthly looking baby bluebell

Starmist · 14/05/2017 16:02

Glad the scan went well & baby is healthy bluebell Smile

LovelyFishy · 14/05/2017 19:41

Glad the scan went well Bluebell and that you have a lovely little baby growing away!

Being a mum is great and DH has been beyond amazing. Missing sleep a bit but Little Fishy is worth it! Breastfeeding is going alright but quite an experience!! Have to keep reminding myself that it's only been 5 days so of course I'm not an expert yet. Latch seems good but one nipple is getting quite sore so currently trying new positions.

Hope everyone else is doing well, not long now until we have more thread babies! Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 14/05/2017 19:49

Thanks for the lovely messages everyone. Glad to hear you're doing well fishy.

Seahawk80 · 14/05/2017 20:26

Glad the scan went well bluebell, sorry it's not twins but great that there's a healthy baby in there. You must be so glad the wait is over.

Mrsbluebell17 · 14/05/2017 20:31

Hi Seahawk. Absolutely, totally relieved just to know. Still only 9 weeks so still feeling nervous until 12 weeks but fingers crossed all will be ok.

WantingBaby1 · 15/05/2017 19:42

Thanks ladies. Feel bad for moaning but this growing a human business is tough! I'm making full use of the preggo pillow and guzzling gaviscon. 28 weeks tomorrow.

So glad your scan went well bluebell. I had calomile tea with a spoonful of honey and found that helped a sore throat. Or gargling with hot salt water can help fight the infection. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Mrsbluebell17 · 15/05/2017 20:08

Thanks wanting. My throat is on the mend thankfully. Hope you're good. When did you start using the pregnancy pillow? That's something I will definitely want to get when I get to that stage!

Seahawk80 · 15/05/2017 20:34

I spoke too soon about the reflux wanting last 3 nights I've woken up with it. I know how you feel, I'm really grateful and happy to be pregnant but at 33 weeks I'm thinking -
Really - 7 more weeks of this!?! The worst thing is waking up in the night, having to heave myself out of bed and then go to the loo for the tiniest wee! I've had problems with my hip all my life, the right one doesn't quite sit right in the joint, it's normally fine and just aches a bit if I go for a really long walk or sleep on a hard bed. I'm finding it's stiff and achy most days now. It's made me realise that I can never let myself get too overweight or sedentary because I'll end up with huge problems with it.

On a brighter note I'm going for a tour of the midwife led unit at the hospital tomorrow - think DH is more excited about having a pizza afterwards at the really good pizza place nearby!

WantingBaby1 · 16/05/2017 09:10

seahawk it can be pretty miserable cant it! I know exactly how you feel Sad

mrs a friend told me to use the pregnancy pillow early to get the most use - I took her advice and never looked back! I think I was using it from about 10 weeks or so. I have a 9 foot u shaped one from amazon for about £35 and it's really helped me. You can manoeuvre them to fit your position and it helps you not to roll onto your back . Beware they are pretty big though! We have a king plus bed and manage fine but I wouldn't think it would fit in a standard double, unless hubby was on the floor Wink

Musicgrrl · 16/05/2017 09:50

bluebell glad the scan went well. Sorry that it ended up only being one but glad to hear that all is looking good Smile

Can I jump in on the pregnancy pillow thing and say that I resisted buying one as they just seemed unnecessarily expensive but I am about to cave at 27 weeks and buy one. I wake up with a sore hip and shoulder and I am uncomfortable and toss and turn a lot. I'm hoping a pillow will help with some of that but I do wish I had bought it earlier to get better value out of it!

Also, wanting and seahawk - I was having hardly any indigestion or reflux until this holiday. Last night I had such bad trapped wind (sorry for tmi!) that I thought I was going to be sick! Absolutely no doubt that has to do with me eating more on holiday and richer foods. It is our wedding anniversary today and we are going out for a nice dinner later so I am just going to have to stock up on gaviscon!
