#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

I think marmite has the Uppababy Vista?
I have looked at it as it was on our list and I can confirm it looked pretty good - we just went for the icandy peach in the end as it won out for us (and the inlaws we're paying!)

Seahawk80 · 28/04/2017 13:49

skip my friend has the uppababy and loves it. I found it a bit too big compared to the new but I'm in London and will still use public transport a fair bit.

MrsG280516 · 28/04/2017 14:04

I've shared on my August facebook group but thought I'd post the link to my blog here for any newbies! Today I've posted a blog about antenatal classes and on Wednesday I wrote one about all the baby things we have bought so far.

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/04/2017 14:53

Love the blog Mrs G! Grin

AudreyBradshaw · 28/04/2017 16:12

mrsg your wedding anniversary is the same day as mine 😊 we're getting L baptised on it this year!

Hoping all is well with marmite and shes cuddling her new baby toast soldier. The wifi was shocking in my hospital when I gave birth.

Deffo agree with getting reffered for pgp sooner rather than later skip I've got problems with my back now in the exact same place I had it when I was pregnant.

FXSkip · 28/04/2017 18:11

Ahhhhhh......thanks MrsG for the afternoon reading your blog!!! Love it, but cannot believe how much prep you have done! So far II have:
x Got pregnant (thats the most important bit right?!)
x Agreed to let DH buy a buggy

And thats it!!!

Carley27 · 28/04/2017 20:27

I'm sure you're right star and macs, I should probably be counting myself lucky to have no symptoms but the December thread is full of people talking nausea/sickness/cravings so I am feeling a fraud 😆 I'm only 5+6 so it may come my way yet anyway.

Star I hope the week or so is going quick for you 💐

That's reassuring to hear Audrey and Seahawk, I really like how this thread has women at all stages of pregnancy (and post pregnancy!), very helpful to hear your experiences.

Oh Christ your cat FXSkip 🤢 cat shit is bloody awful. My cat randomly managed to shit IN the toilet one time which was impressive.. didn't manage the flush though 😬

glitteryvibes · 28/04/2017 20:54

Went to have a wee after my oh had been in the bathroom earlier, enter the bathroom and immediately start retching due to the hideous smell left behind. Had been a retching free day until then.

skip how many weeks are you again? I'm sure you have plenty of time left to sort everything. That's what next day delivery is for!

FXSkip · 29/04/2017 14:44

Oh dear glittery 😂

We just bought a whole uppababy vista system with car seat for £350 (second hand, price includes valet and service) someone tell me this is a good deal?!!

WantingBaby1 · 29/04/2017 15:19

That's a great deal skip! I'd use some of the savings to buy a new car seat though as you can't be sure it hasn't been in an accident.

mrsg you are super organised! How far along are you?

I'm 25.5 wks now and have a bugaboo travel system and changing unit on the way, bought a moses basket and rocking stand, nappy bin, steriliser, a few bottles, bedding, towels, changing bag and lots of pretty dresses Smile still some more to buy! Painted the nursery but still got to decide on what further decoration to have, if any. It's a lovely pale blue/duck egg colour.

Welcome newbies! Lovely to have you with us.

The first trimester was really tough, go easy on yourselves. I felt sick all the time and had weekly migraines. And the tiredness was unbelievable! Put your feet up, you don't need an excuse now.

Sorry to those suffering with SPD too. Sounds horrific. I'm no way near as bad but I do have a lot of pain if I do too much - mainly on the tops of my thighs and groin. Not sure if this is mild SPD or just regular pregnancy aches. Turning over in bed is agony and getting out of bed or raising feet off floor to get jeans on is horrid too Sad not sure what I can do about it. Started at about 23 weeks.

Apart from that I've had a lovely week with bump. She's getting so wriggly now and this morning I saw something pop out of my stomach for a second! Such an amazing time.

MrsG280516 · 29/04/2017 16:46

26 weeks tomorrow wanting Smile I'm a pretty organised person in general so wanted everything out of the way by 30 weeks! We haven't really gone overboard on clothes so it just leaves me plenty of time to pick up cute little non essentials and prepare for labour.

I second that Skip I'd definitely buy a new car seat just for peace of mind.

LovelyFishy · 29/04/2017 21:09

Skip £350 is a steal! Marmite and I both went Uppababy Vista too.

Wanting you're so organised, good on you! Glad you're enjoying things. Smile I sometimes get pelvis pain when turning over in bed, I found the trick is to keep my knees together.

MrsG don't know if you're planning on having a baby shower but I got loads of clothes as gifts. I waited until after that to pick up any remaining items.

Had quite an afternoon of Braxton Hicks, was kinda hoping they might be real contractions but defiantly too random for that!

FXSkip · 29/04/2017 21:38

I know wanting that's extremely well organised of you!! We went with the car seat as they didn't have a car and only used it occasionally with hire cars. On that basis I trust them when they say it's never been in an accident, plus the service centre will double check it for cracks. My only other planned purchases will be a sling/wrap, gnappies, a changing mat and a few clothing essentials, maybe the tommy tippee kit as that will be handy whether I bf or not. I can't think anything of else that is vital immediately?!

Mrsbluebell17 · 30/04/2017 08:04

Hi everyone, just checking back in with an update.

You're so organised MrsG but I think I'll be like that when I get to that stage. Loving your blog.

Skip that's a really good deal on the travel system. Great find! Where do you get them serviced? Excuse my naivety. How much does a service cost?

So, those of you who are on the December thread may have seen my updates from yesterday so sorry for the double posting. Here goes....
We went for an early private scan yesterday. I was expecting to be 7+2. All was well, and measured 7+1 and there was a good heartbeat. However, it was initially an external scan and then she asked if she could do an internal scan for a clearer picture. Which I agreed to. She was looking around for ages, and then said she couldn't be sure if there weren't two fetus' in there! She looked for ages and eventually told us that in ten years she's never been this unsure and sat on the fence as to whether there are two.

Basically she was able to take two measurements (one ever so slightly smaller) and she thinks see two heartbeats but she wants a second opinion as if there is a second then they are in the same sac and same placenta which makes them mono-mono twins.

She has asked us to go back in two weeks today for a free rescan for a second look and opinion. Which obviously we're more than happy to do as either it's one baby and we get to see it again, or it's two and it might get confirmed.

I've been reading online about mono mono twins, and someone posted back to me in the December thread to say that sometimes they can't be detected as mono-mono this early on so that may be why. The membrane can show itself at a slightly later stage and also there's a risk of vanishing twin syndrome. So we'll see what happens - but either way it's exciting. One healthy baby and maybe two!!!

It's going to be a long two weeks until that next scan.

I'm off overseas with work this week, have a long flight and very nervous about being away from DH at this stage. Hoping all is ok.

Sorry for the uber long post!!! Not sure if any of you have had any similar experiences at all but would love to hear from you if you have.

WantingBaby1 · 30/04/2017 08:15

Wow bluebell! How exciting! And lovely that you get to go back and see your little bean(s) again.

We had a party last night. At least, baby did. From 1-3am. Lots of dancing in there! Not even born yet and she's keeping me up half the night Hmm

AudreyBradshaw · 30/04/2017 08:22

bluebell that's amazing! Wonderful news! You would be our first set of twinnies since the conception of the ttc thread began! 👍👍😊😊

Mrsbluebell17 · 30/04/2017 08:28

Thanks wanting. Hope you get more sleep tonight!

Audrey that is even more exciting. Although I do understand that the risks are huge at the moment. So trying no to yet hopes up just yet.

Starmist · 30/04/2017 08:39

Just to say about nausea... for me it got worse & then one morning I woke up & it had completely gone & it never came back. On the one hand it was nice it'd gone but I panicked & worried if I was still pregnant. All I'm saying is please don't worry if your symptoms come & go.

FXSkip what a great deal on a pram!

Wanting wow can't believe you saw baby pop out of your tummy! I'm really loving feeling him kick. Got a really strong kick very low down when sat at work the other day, it took me my surprise! Sorry you were kept awake for a while. Our little boy has been pretty chilled out the past few nights thankfully, he's just starting to wake up now actually, getting lots of kicks at the moment Smile

Bluebell how amazing, can't believe there could possibly be two little babies in there eek!

LovelyFishy · 30/04/2017 09:11

Bluebell that is way beyond exciting news! And a free rescan is always a plus in my books!

Mrsbluebell17 · 30/04/2017 09:35

Thanks Starmist.
Yes fishy I totally agree. She was like 'do you mind coming back again, so I can get a second look and opinion in a few weeks time? It'll be free?' I was thinking no way do I mind!!! So good, either we should get reassurance as to whether it's just one and whether he/she is growing still as expected OR we should get more idea if it's twins.

I've been reading this morning that mono mono twins are often misdiagnosed and they eventually find a membrane between them which makes them mo-di twins so still identical but in their own placentas I think. This makes the risks slightly lower so we'll see what happens. Lots of people reporting that they find the membrane at a later stage and it was just so thin they struggled to see it but it does exist. So..... we'll see!

Very exciting either way and I'll be sure to report back after my next scan on 14th May!

FXSkip · 30/04/2017 12:50

I know there are buggy pit stops in London, but I would guess every major city has one. the service and valet for the system and the car seat came to £83, which we factored into the cost of the pram system. I'm happy with our decision anyway!

bluebell that is potentially amazing news, risky and scary at the same time though! Can't wait to hear what happens next week - twins would be crazy but so much fun I think!

kavanaughkj · 30/04/2017 16:26

Wow what fantastic news Mrsbluebell - I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had people joke that they might be carrying twins based on my size, but to find one of us who may actually be carrying them - and identical, potentially too! So many congrats. _

I'm really hoping to hear something from Marmite soon. I know she must be exhausted in the aftermath, looking after a new baby - just hope she and the new arrival are safe and happy. Sending out positive karma.

MrsG, we're due date buddies and you're so much further along than me!! That said, I hit a burst of energy today and have been blitzing our kitchen and doing a ton of washing. The energy in the house is so much nicer when everything is clean and tidy! Loving it - long may this continue! It's most unlike me as I do tend to be a bit of a lazy bugger normally - though holding down a full time job I do object to doing all the housekeeping as well, particularly given that DH was out of work for a couple of months until very recently and didn't manage to tidy or clean all that much. :( I'm happy to do the housekeeping full time if I don't have a job on top of it but neither one of us earns enough to allow the other to become a SAHP.

Ooh, one thing I did do this week - had a look around a local nursery as I hear they are already getting bookings for September 2018!!! The one just down the road from me is so lovely - it looks out on a lake, they have an allotment to work in, two other outdoor areas, cooking, French and music classes ... I was actually a bit jealous, there was nothing so nice while I was at playgroup! Just weird to think you have to think about booking so early. I know I have to speak to my work about my hours when I go back. I'd like to do reduced hours Mon/Tues and Thurs/Fri and take Wednesday off to break up the week, but I'm not sure how open to that they'll be ....

Seahawk80 · 30/04/2017 16:26

So exciting bluebell hope the 2 weeks doesn't drag too much. I had to wait 2
Weeks after an early scan for bleeding to check that all was ok and there was progress. Was the longest TWW ever! When we did go back they said they couldn't see anything and that there had been no progress then suddenly found the baby! Just goes to show how tiny and hard to see things are at these early stages. You must have been so worried when they were looking for ages, I always convince myself that there's a problem!

Seahawk80 · 30/04/2017 16:29

Kav I don't have my hours sorted with work, and won't until about 3 months before I go back but I'm be booked in at a local nursery. Deposit was £50 plus another £250 when the baby is born and then they will guarantee a place and we can sort exact hours once I know them.

Mrsbluebell17 · 30/04/2017 17:36

Thanks skip that's really useful.

Seahawk yes I know it's going to be a long wait. I go away for work this week too so even longer as away from DH for the week Sad

Thanks too Kav.

I'll keep you all posted!!
