#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Yay marmite good luck!

Starmist · 22/04/2017 05:15

Best of luck Marmite, we'll be thinking of you xx

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 05:32

Thinking of you marmite. Good luck! Smile

LovelyFishy · 22/04/2017 07:06

Super excited Marmite, good luck! Grin

Star really glad you had such a good appointment with the consultant, sounds like you've got some wonderful people looking after you. How long until the Harmony results?

Musicgrrl · 22/04/2017 08:39

Just a quick one to say good luck marmite! Hope your baby is on the way now! So exciting Smile

Also, glad to hear you had a useful consultant appointment star and that you will have harmony test done quickly. Hope the period of uncertainty doesn't last long.

Friday evening of the hen went well. I'm up earlier than everyone else and going to nip out and stretch my legs before preparing breakfast!

marmitecheesetoast · 22/04/2017 08:59

Thanks for all your thoughts. Was in triage waiting to be seen for hours last night. Totally exhausted. Got home at 2.30am eventually. It wasn't my waters, just large amounts of watery discharge. Which is kind of what my gut instinct said but I guess you have to be safe than sorry and get these things checked.
40+8 today and feeling utterly despondent that I'll ever actually manage to get myself into labour.

Musicgrrl · 22/04/2017 10:32

Oh marmite I'm sorry, that must feel like an anti climax. At least you can rest up for a while so that you're physically ready when labour does start. Hope you can do/have something nice to treat yourself today Cake

Seahawk80 · 22/04/2017 10:59

Sorry marmite - that must be so frustrating. Don't have any advice to offer I'm afraid. Maybe plan something fun for Monday and try to invoke Sod's law?! (It's like going back to the TTC days and the planning things after the TWW)!

Starmist · 22/04/2017 11:09

I'm sorry Marmite I can understand that must be frustrating. Glad you got checked out though. Hopefully baby will be on the move very soon & you can get some good rest today.

Harmony test is booked for Monday & results are supposed to take 7-10 days. Hoping they come a little faster than that but at least we got the test booked in as quickly as we could.

We told my mum the situation earlier in the week for support but once we had a bit more info from the consultant we told my dad & DH's parents yesterday afternoon (we didn't want to cause possibly unnecessary worry for them before having seen the consultant & we wanted some time to think about things ourselves). MIL was really annoyed that DH hadn't told her sooner & over the past few days he had told her a few white lies to cover up that we were off work etc. When he tried to explain that we wanted more info before we spoke to them as we didn't want them to worry she said "we are adults, we can process information". When DH let slip we'd told my mum the other day you could see the anger in her face. I mean really, is that what's important here?! What about our little baby. She never fails to disappoint me.

Seahawk80 · 22/04/2017 12:11

Oh god star that's the last thing you need. Just ignore her and try to avoid her if you can. Some people deal with things in such a weird way. My MIL is lovely but a bit cloying and I just had to avoid her while we went through this.

LovelyFishy · 22/04/2017 19:23

Music glad the hen do is going well, hope you have a lovely time this evening.

Marmite sorry to hear the show hasn't kicked off yet, can only imagine how frustrating it is for you. Sad

Star that's the last thing you need right now! I've never understood how other people get so caught up in their own drama when the situation isn't even about them! Well, at least she knows now so you can happily ignore her for a bit?

WantingBaby1 · 22/04/2017 21:26

I can imagine you're pretty fed up marmite, fx baby makes and appearance for you v soon.

star thinking of you. MiLs can be incredibly difficult! Hope it's a weight off your mind to have told everyone and you can focus on trying to relax before the results. Sounds positive from what the consultant said though.

24 + 3 here and feeling very big! I feel like my stomach cant possibly stretch anymore...god knows what I'll look like in another 16 weeks Confused Had a lovely pregnancy massage today and am feeling baby more and more each week.

WantingBaby1 · 22/04/2017 21:28

Also i bumped into an old friend yesterday who we'd known had been trying for a baby for several years before giving up. She made me remember how lucky I am to be pregnant, despite the aches and pains etc. I can't imagine her pain.

Mrsbluebell17 · 23/04/2017 06:11

Morning all. Hope everyone is well. I've got horrendous spots on my chin and nose. Can anyone suggest anything to calm them down that is pregnancy friendly? They are under the skin and throbbing Blush so uncomfortable so id really appreciate any help.

LovelyFishy · 23/04/2017 07:10

I'm always a fan of witch hazel Bluebell, I use it for everything! Bruises, cuts, bumps, spots...

Wanting I know the feeling! I'm 36+2 today and have nothing left to do but get bigger still! No matter how uncomfortable and grumpy we get we should always remember how lucky we are to be here, your poor friend. Sad

Mrsbluebell17 · 23/04/2017 08:23

Thanks fishy. I was worried about what was safe to use whilst pregnant.

Mooseville · 24/04/2017 11:09

How frustrating marmite I hope you have some baby action soon!

We had our NCT classes all weekend. It was quite good fun and there were some nice people there so I'm hoping we stay in touch!
Made me realise I really must pack my hospital bags! I've been very lax in that department! I'm off on Wednesday to have carpets fitted so I will try to get it sorted then!

Starmist · 24/04/2017 17:01

Marmite how are you getting on today?

Wanting your poor friend Sad yes we are incredibly lucky.

Bluebell I like Superdrug's Tea Tree range for my spots. My skin has got much better the further along I've been so FX yours clears up soon.

Moose how far along are you now? My friend said her NCT class set up a Facebook page & it helped them to keep in touch & have regular meet ups.

Had the Harmony test this afternoon. The guy who did it was so reassuring, & he took two measurements of the nuchal fold, one was 6.3 & the other was 5.9. It's meant to be 5.9 or less! Baby was so clear on the screen so the technology must be better & therefore more accurate than NHS right??? We felt so much better from what he said to us. The only slightly frustrating thing is he couldn't take my blood. He'd got my veins, I was bleeding, it just wasn't anywhere near enough to fill the tube. He tried twice in each arm, I feel so sore now. Have to go back tomorrow to try again. DH wondered if everything is fine so it was my body saying we didn't need to do the test! My friend suggested maybe it's because I'm stressed? I've got such a bad headache now to be fair. Anyway at least we will sleep better tonight.

Seahawk80 · 24/04/2017 17:37

How annoying star try drinking lots of water, I often have trouble having blood taken when I'm dehydrated.

I think they def have better technology at the private places, they also were much less worried about our nuchal fold measurement at 12 weeks than the NHS. Fingers crossed for you x

LovelyFishy · 24/04/2017 17:52

Moose glad the classes went well! Did you feel like you actually learnt anything from them, or more just good ideas?

Star glad the scan was reassuring but bummer about the bloods! Isn't being warm meant to help? Maybe trying wearing a huge woolly jumper!

Hoping silence from Marmite means it's baby time! Grin

Mooseville · 24/04/2017 18:27

Brill news star although fingers crossed you manage the bloods tomorrow! I agree, the private places seem too have much better technology!

I'm 34 weeks now, some parts of the class were definitely helpful. DP liked the bit on bathing, holding and changing the baby. There was some good bits on different positions for labour and it was very focused on being natural but still discussed interventions and c sects. They did a good hit to demonstrate how many people would be in the room if you had a c section and it's loads! Pleased to know that as if I end up having one and I saw that many people I'd be panicking something was wrong! I wouldn't say I learnt anything more than I'd read on here but DP certainly did and it was a good experience and has helped with confidence!

Seahawk80 · 24/04/2017 18:55

That's good to hear moose I start my classes tomorrow - eek!

DH and I agreed not to buy anymore baby clothes this month as we are trying to save some money while I'm still working and we'll get lots of lovely hand me downs from my sisters once we know the gender. He loves Star Wars though and Gap have just done a Star Wars range with 40% off so I figured he won't mind - can't wait to show him!

marmitecheesetoast · 24/04/2017 20:16

Still here, still pregnant 😢 Silence = a sign of going quietly insane in the corner!! 😂

Just finding the waiting game absolutel torture and people keep saying gosh you're 10 days past your due date, I don't anyone else who has been that late bla blah blah Hmm

Finding it difficult the feeling of time running out and still not getting into labour before the induction on Wednesday. Just feel like I'm losing control over the type and setting of birth I want.

Sorry the moan!

Star really glad to hear the scan went well, sounds very positive and yes go well hydrated and warm next
Time - from someone who has experience of being a failed pin cushion!!

Glad the classes went well moose we have a whatsapp group set up from ours which has been a really good way to stay in touch and chat.

AudreyBradshaw · 24/04/2017 21:10

Hope you're cuddling your tiny, precious newborn marmite

Been thinking of you star glad it went as well as can be expected and you were somewhat reassured xxx

AudreyBradshaw · 24/04/2017 21:12
