#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Music did you feel baby move? Hope your mind has been put at rest.

Marmite hope there's some movement soon!

I'm not going into work. Manager has said she's put me down as sick for today & tomorrow so I don't need to worry about it. I called the doctors this morning & the midwife will be there today so I've made an appointment to see her. Reckon it will be good to talk to her about how I'm feeling & I'd like my blood pressure checking as I've still got a bad headache, it's probably the stress but best to check I think. Then we are going out for lunch which I hope will be a bit of a distraction.

marmitecheesetoast · 20/04/2017 09:56

Sounds like a good plan for the day Star will be thinking of you BrewCake

Seahawk80 · 20/04/2017 10:25

I'm glad you don't have to go to work star hope you manage to have as nice a day as you can. We were waiting for the cvs results over my birthday and going out for lunch and banning all baby talk was actually a welcome
distraction. At least today is the last day you have to get through before you get some answers. Am thinking of you x

Seahawk80 · 20/04/2017 10:27

marmite I hope you're managing to stay sane. Try to enjoy the last few days just the 2 of you I guess! My yoga teacher says your body will do t when it's time Smile

marmitecheesetoast · 20/04/2017 10:51

Thanks Seahawk that's what I keep telling myself and ties in with all my hypnobirthing stuff - that your body will release the baby when the time is right and you have to trust in your body. Really struggling with the induction date hanging over me on Weds morning though. It's frustrating as I've luckily had such a straightforward pregnancy, no issues, but just cos of some arbitrary date they decide they have to start messing with nature and the process and start medical induction. Angry and just by insisting on booking this is in as soon as you hit due date I think is really unhelpful and actually counter-productive to allow women who go past their due date to stay relaxed and calm and allow their body to birth their baby at the right time!! Gaaaah.

Seahawk80 · 20/04/2017 11:29

I can imagine marmite I've been told I can't go overdue because of my low Papp a levels, baby was transverse so I was really thinking it would be a c section but seems to have turned head down now so hopefully all will be good although I'm pretty sure I'll be looking at induction. Hope things move along naturally for you before weds!

Musicgrrl · 20/04/2017 14:31

Thanks guys. I tried ice water, chocolate, poking my tummy, music and lying down. Still nothing. Then ate half a bag of haribo and baby started moving and kicking. I, however, felt quite sick and didn't enjoy my dinner! Will feel a lot calmer next time it happens though hopefully and at least know what to try first! It has been quite similar today - not felt much so I think baby has starting exploring and still isn't big enough for me to feel her depending on where she is.

Starmist I'm so glad your manager has let you take the time as sick leave. It would be stupid not to as I can't imagine you would be operating at full productivity if you were in work anyway! That's so sweet of your mum to volunteer to pay for private testing. Hopefully it won't be needed after you speak to the specialist tomorrow but at least you know it's an option without worrying about the cost. How was seeing midwife? Hope you don't have high bp to add to the worry!

Moose prune juice is now on my shopping list. My DH was a bit grossed out when we saw it but needs must!

Marmite how frustrating that nothing has developed since the mucus plug excitement! I can see why you'd want to wait it out and let your body do its thing. I don't know many people with children but I have three friends all due last month/this month and one was induced a day before her due date (baby was moving a bit less), one is being induced today (gone a week past due date) and one is having a planned c-section next week because baby is breeched. I'm sure there are good reasons for each one but it does seem like intervention is very routine to get baby out!

Seahawk80 · 20/04/2017 14:57

music I had a few days like that. It's scary and don't worry about calling up if you are concerned. Even now at almost 30 weeks my baby seems to have the odd lazy day. It seems quieter when at work - it's obviously as bored here as I am!

Had a blood test apt today with a different midwife and had a bonus listen to the heartbeat which is always lovely.

Starmist · 20/04/2017 18:48

Music I'm so glad I went to see the midwife, she was wonderful. She spent a long time just listening to me & then she explained all about what will happen with the consultant & how the harmony testing works. Blood pressure was fine. She gave me a great big hug at the end & told me to see her anytime. I've been researching clinics this afternoon. There's one an hour away that has slots available on a number of days next week so I'm pleased we can move quickly on it. I'm happy the consultant appointment is so close, hoping to get some reassurance tomorrow. DH seems more upset than ever tonight though bless him.

Seahawk80 · 21/04/2017 06:33

marmitecheesetoast · 21/04/2017 09:17

Just came on to say also thinking of you Star xx

Thanks bluebell. Nothing much to report here. Just an on/off back ache and lots of watery discharge... Off to 41 week MW appt shortly Shock will be having a second sweep. I also have a reflexology/accupressure appointment this afternoon. Even if it doesn't work it was lovely and relaxing last week, I love having my feet rubbed!

Happy Friday all StarFlowers

AudreyBradshaw · 21/04/2017 11:04

Thinking of you star Much love xxx

( Marmite , that's how I started, kept thinking I'd wet myself!)

LovelyFishy · 21/04/2017 11:23

Star thinking of you and wishing you all the best. Flowers

Marmite fx things get started soon, sounds like you're ready! Foot rub sounds amazing, maybe I should get one last message booked in...

Musicgrrl · 21/04/2017 11:31

star so so glad that the midwife was helpful. Not long to wait now. Hope your DH is feeling a bit more positive this morning. Will be thinking of you!

marmite maybe the sweep will do it! Fingers crossed!

seahawk your message reassured me about sporadic movement. I'm working from home today and she is on the move a lot so maybe I notice it less when I'm in work.

Hen do number 1 this weekend. Trying to stay as chilled as possible today so that I have my energy levels topped up for a busy weekend!

Starmist · 21/04/2017 18:51

Had a really reassuring appointment with the consultant. She spent ages checking baby & confirmed the NF measurement is higher than normal but rest of baby looks healthy & as our original risk factor was so low for downs (1 in 98,200) she was as encouraging as she could be. She's said she will see us again to discuss the Harmony results with us when we get them. She gave me her mobile number & told me to call her once we get the results so she can arrange to see us, & she said if we have any questions in the meantime to call her. So lovely.

Marmite hope the sweep helps. Does it hurt? What does it involve?

Music glad your little lady is moving lots. Hope the hen do is ok & not too crazy.

Seahawk80 · 21/04/2017 19:03

That's great new star really happy for you. Hope you can enjoy your weekend now

Mooseville · 21/04/2017 19:07

Brilliant news star Obviously you won't be able to relax fully until the harmony results, but that sounds very positive!!!! You must feel much happier.

marmite hope your sweep went well! Watery discharge sounds promising too!!

marmitecheesetoast · 21/04/2017 21:50

Really glad to hear that Star consultant sounds very considwrare and helpful. Hope you can get the Harmony resting booked asap.

I'm not going to lie Star the sweep is pretty uncomfortable, lots of deep breathing and staying relaxed helps though. The midwife basically tries to get a finger or two just inside your cervix and 'sweeps' around the membrane sack, or something along those lines! Sort of like a super smear test!

So I've just felt another trickle of liquid and soaked through my underwear for the third time today Hmm should really have put a pad on earlier. I'm still fairly certain it's just watery discharge but obviously slightly worried it might be my waters going. Have just rung triage, the lady said they were run off their feet but that she'd get a midwife to ring me back as soon as possible... eek... still no other signs other than a bit of back ache...

Sodasoda · 21/04/2017 22:15

Just popped in to see if there was any news from marmite. My waters broke exactly like you describe marmite! It was a kind of trickle all day and I thought I'd just leaked a bit of wee Blush I expected it to be a gush or a pop (like it always is on tv!!) and it wasn't. Went to get checked out just in case and found my waters had totally gone! I know that you said triage was busy but 12 hours after your waters break you need antibiotics due to infection risk so do go in and get checked out soon. At least that was what happened with me! Fingers crossed this is a sign of something happening for you!

marmitecheesetoast · 21/04/2017 22:40

Aw thanks Soda, the midwife rung back and asked me to come in so they could check. Just got here and waiting to be seen now...
Sounds like it started in a similar way with you and stardrey then as what I'm experiencing now... weird to think this could be it! In which case I really hope contractions might start themselves soon!
