Welcome to march mazzymcg! Half a stone seems to be a trend here - that's the amount I've lost too, even though I've done my best to keep eating through the nausea.

Misdee - I've been wondering about this blooming bit too. It's got to happen soon! I'm 15 weeks and yesterday I was in bed by 8.45pm, supposedly listening to the footie match on radio 5, but in fact unconscious by about 8.50pm!

Dp did remind me that last time round it did take a while for the sickness and exhaustion to fade completely. Hopefully we'll all be glowing and super healthy in a few weeks time!

Londonmummy05 · 09/09/2004 11:49

Welcome Mazzymcg, you girls have lost weight? I've put on half a stone, now my nausea is going I've strated eating less hopefully my weight gain will slow down! I didn't know we weren't allowed choccie-whoops

NYmum2be- I found '7' jeans in London a shop called Blossom mother and baby in Walton Street SW3.
I ordered a load of clothes from Next directory yesterday, I'm waiting for them to deliver it today, the trick is to order lots of different sizes and styles as the postage is the same and you can return the ones you don't want to any next shop

mazzymcg · 09/09/2004 12:10

Oh you are allowed chocolate, I've just gone off it completely - most bizarre as usually I'm a bit of a chocoholic. I've also gone off garlic which I normally add to anything.
BTW, Isabella Oliver (www.isabellaoliver.com) has great maternity stuff - bit pricey but good for one or two really nice things and some can be worn even before you start to show (wrap stuff) so good value from that point of view

Lonelymum · 10/09/2004 13:30

Sorry to be shameless but I would like to draw all pregnant ladies' attention to the For Sale threads where I have advertised some maternity wear for sale. Good luck with the pregnancies!

Pidge · 13/09/2004 11:33

Hello all. Just had hilarious phone conversation with dp who has been having some nuclear medicine thing done to find out what is wrong with his knee - at some point during the process they informed him he now needs to keep away from pregnant ladies for the next 24 hours. Ooops! Anyway, the consultant has decreed that it'll all be fine, but maybe dp should sleep in the guest room tonight! In fact he said 'same bed, should be ok, but NO cuddling'!

steppemum · 14/09/2004 10:38

thanks for the welcome, I seem to have lost weight too, although I haven't been sicky at all, I just had to take my jeans belt in a notch, despite the fact that I seem to have a huge fat tum..... well, I never did think anything about pregnancy was very logical! I'm now 14 weeks and the horrendous tiredness has passed, so I feel a little more human again. Can't beleive we're in the second trimester already, last time round i was following every day, this time 14 weeks seem to have gone already and I'm only just getting used to the idea!

For the statistician: I'm 37 (eek!) this is no. 2, ds is 21 months, and I'm due 14th March.

munchkinsusie · 21/09/2004 09:28

hi girls,

we've all been rather quiet this week! it's been ages since i wrote, life seems to have been rather busy!

we've told our families that i'm pregnant a couple of weeks age and they were all very excited - my mum has already knitted two cardigans and has yet to come back from the shops without buying something! we had our 12 week scan as well, where my dates were put forward a week, so i'm now due on 13th march. the scan was the most amazing experience. i can't wait for the 20 week scan now.

we've just come back from our holiday. we went on a cruise to alaska. it was just what i needed - i had been getting quite depressed before we went away and the holiday let me get alot of rest and i feel so much better. unfortunately though i put on 3.5 pounds in the two weeks i was away, oops! i've really got a bump now - my jeans no longer fit and i don't think it will take long for my other clothes to go the same way. it's a bit scary to think of how big i'm going to get. i guess i'd better start looking around for cheap maternity clothes - someone on another thread said asda are good so i'm going to try there first.

anyway, welcome to all the newcomers to the march thread. hope everyone is well and that we all start to bloom soon.

misdee · 21/09/2004 10:00

i'm new here too although already created a few threads. due march 22 '05. live in wales. got ds aged 3.5 yrs. been really nauseaous and sick few times.

Pidge · 23/09/2004 14:58

misdee that sounds awful - I knew you were having a bad time with sickness, but that's really frightening. Are you feeling any better?

My dd (2yr 2mth) has totally twigged that I am pregnant - we'd talked about it in front of her, but not really tried to explain it properly to her yet. Looks like we don't need to - out of the blue the other day she said "Mummy's got a big fat tummy with a baby in it"! And there was no denying it!

Welcome charlie95, and welcome back from hols munchkinsusie.

misdee · 24/09/2004 12:51

feeling ok now, the blood scared the sh*te out of me tho, and my throat really hurt.
I was on a drip for 2 days, not being allowed to eat as they wanted me to stop being sick. i was allowed some crackers and digestive biscuits on the 2nd day. I am keeping meals light and frequent, just have to remind dh not to eat all the bread at night as i need a slice of toast 1st thing to stop me being sick.

Apart from that, i am enjoying having a small bump to show, and have been shopping for maternity clothes. went mad on ebay, and also let myself have a pair of jeans fron Next which set me back £40 (oops).

How is everyone else?

OP posts:
Pidge · 27/09/2004 09:23

Really glad to hear things are a bit better misdee - frankly I think some nice clothes were the least you deserved after that. I just inherited some from a friend, but am longing to go and buy a few things. I have vowed not to be quite such a scruff-bag this pregnancy!

On Friday I went up to King's to have a voluntary scan for research purposes, including a 3-D scan. They really need to warn you how ugly babies are at this stage - either that or I am due to give birth to an alien! It was really interesting, but the baby did look truly hideous in glorious 3-D! Dd (who came with me) looked very sceptical when I tried to convince her it was a baby! Anyway, I'm so glad I did it, if nothing else it was reassuring to see the little mite waving its arms about and to see its heart thumping away. And only 5 weeks to go till the 23 week scan.

My morning sickness is finally fading - there are moments when I feel almost normal, and food actually tastes nice. Just the evenings when the sickness is still there. I'm sure it didn't last this long last time round I feel like I have been whinging about it forever!

Oh, and I've put myself down for a homebirth ... gulp. So must go and read some mumsnet threads on that for reassurance.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

misdee · 27/09/2004 09:25

how did u arrange the 3-d scan? i really want one done.

OP posts:
Pidge · 27/09/2004 09:31

misdee - I was just really lucky - I had my 12 week scan at King's (London) and they said they were doing some research on babies lung volume between 15-18 weeks, and that I could come back then voluntarily and get a 3-D scan.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you have to pay for these things. In which case, I would wait until the baby was a bit bigger - apparently 3-D scans of babies nearer to term (maybe over 30 weeks) are really amazing. Frankly at this point it was entertaining but I'm not exaggerating when I say the baby was ugly ugly ugly!! It looked like one of those people who has been dug out of a peat bog after thousands of years!!!

misdee · 27/09/2004 09:34

can they tell what sex it is at this stage on a 3-d scan? must have been amazing to see your 'alien' in full 3-d.

i felt a definate movement yesterday. yippee!!

OP posts:
Girly · 27/09/2004 09:37

Hi girls! Can sympathise pidge and misdee, I am still throwing up and will be 18 weeks on Weds, i do hope it goes soon.

One nice thing though is feeling the baby move, i feel it a lot now and it is very reassuring. As i had quite a bad bleed 3 weeks ago and thought I was miscarrying, was fine in the end, went to the EPU and they scanned me and said it was probably a burst vein?

I hope everyones else is starting to bloom!

Pidge · 27/09/2004 09:54

Girly - that's brilliant about feeling the baby moving. I think I'm a bit dense on that front - sometimes I think I've felt it, but I'm never sure. To be honest, that's partly why I was so pleased to get the extra scan. Thank-goodness your bleed turned out to be nothing serious.

Misdee - yes, I think they probably could have found out for me. But in fact that was one of my worries about having the 3-d scan, because I don't want to know the gender and I was worried it might be obvious. So I warned the ultrasound man, and he said he wouldn't blurt it out! And frankly in the event I was transfixed by the alien's bug face!

Gosh, must do some work!

steppemum · 28/09/2004 15:41

hi everyone, it has been quiet on this thread, if you're anything like me then it is because you want to go to bed early every night! I am 16 weeks today, so I went for my "appointment" with my friends who is a midwife and is looking after me until I come back to the UK. I feel as if I have grown enormously in the last 4 weeks and she said that my fundus height was higher than she would expect, but she wasn't concerned at this stage. No movement yet, I keep expecting it every day.

I've definitely grown out of some of my wardrobe, but fortunately both my jeans needed a belt before, so now they still fit comfortably without one. I still don't feel as if I have a nice bump, just feel fat, I can't wait until it looks more like a bump.

I've been reading all my pregnancy books avidly, and came across a couple of laughs. In one, you are allowed to cheat on you healthy diet once a week, but the author's idea of cheating is that you treat yourself to a slice of white bread instead of wholemeal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(she's obviously never experienced the "everything I eat tastes strange/wierd/makes me sick" part of pregnancy!)

Pidge · 28/09/2004 16:21

LOL at the white bread SteppeMum!

I was hooked on the pregnancy books first time round - and I remember cursing the best odds diet in What to Expect, where they suggested you might 'treat yourself to something naughty like a donut once a month' .... yeah right.

And I swear one of the books I got out of the library said that you might be able to take your mind off morning sickness by knitting some booties for the baby.

I'm currently celebrating my newly found ability to eat sweet things again by scoffing a mega pack of maltesers. New clothes to fit over the bump are going to be needed v. soon.

steppemum · 30/09/2004 08:18

yse, I'm afraid it was the good old Best Odds diet. I guess the chips I had for lunch were cheating then...... (I just don't fancy eating any of the things I should)

Found another howler (funny how first time round these all seemed like perfectly reasonable statements)
When not to have sex - after your waters have broken.
(I mean....why would you want to...)

Actually seriously, what does it mean if your uterus is growing too fast/big for dates? (apart from twins which I assume the 12 weeks scan ruled out)?

munchkinsusie · 30/09/2004 12:37

misdee - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. i would have thought you could get a prescription for shopping therapy after all you've been through! i think i've felt some movement as well, although it's still hard to tell. i can't wait until it's strong enought for me to be sure.

pidge - that 3d scan sounds really wierd! i guess if you have it really near to due date then you can really see what they look like which would be cool (as long as they no longer look like an alien!)

i'm off to the midwife this afternoon - should get to hear the heartbeat which will be cool.

Pidge · 30/09/2004 13:39

Steppemum - no idea about the high fundus - but if your midwife friend isn't worried I wouldn't worry either. (Easily said!). And yup - one of the good things about the 12 weeks scan is you get to know if its twins. I think I mentioned somewhere else my friend who got her first scan at 20 weeks and only discovered then that there were TWO babies!

munchkinsusie - yup supposedly a 3-D scan in the later stages is a good way of bonding with your baby before it arrives. Can't imagine anyone bonding with my bug-eyed alien! My dp happened to be teaching ultrasound to some of his secondary school science kids, so he took in our scan pics, so now our little alien has been ogled by half the school! Apparently the pictures were a real hit, even if the babe is uggly wuggly at this point.

I really need to go maternity clothes shopping but dd has suddenly got all keen about toilet training, and her childminder has started her off, so now I have to show willing and stay indoors all day tomorrow (my one day off) to watch her sitting on the potty! Blast. Will have to dig out my baggiest jumpers for another week or so.

bonym · 30/09/2004 17:13

Hi - new to thread although have posted a couple of times elswhere. Due end of March and have quite a big bump already - NONE of my pre-pregancy clothes (apart from tops!) fit any more! Have had a scan and luckily it's only one baby in there! Anyone else feeling really tired? My nausea has gone and I thought I'd be starting to 'bloom' now but am so tired in the afternoons that I've had to cut my hours at work and come home for a sleep. i don't remember feeling this exhausted with dd - maybe that's because I'm 7 years older this time!!

charlie95 · 30/09/2004 22:08

hi bonym
i'm on 2nd pgcy due 22 march. im feeling rather large already too for 15 wks. my dates are spot on. i'm 4 yrs older than last time. only one baby as well, but am constanlty eating and drinking fluids little-ish and very often cos i fell so sick all the time. dh dropped a subtle (not) hint the other day! within the first 5 weeks had gone up a bra size! dread to think how big i will get this time!! dont mind really. my dad said today jokingly may end up with 14lb baby at this rate!!
hope

charlie95 · 30/09/2004 22:10
