Welcome littleoldme - good luck with your scan.

Sparkly - fab news. At least you know now in case it happens again.

DS2 is fine, he certainly hasn't learned any lessons from his little accident. Apparently at school he kept flashing his friends and getting them to congregate in the bathroom to have a peak. He has now been running around naked in the garden with his friends - my guess, he's OK. Just need to wait until Friday to see how it's all healing.

I found out the sex of DS2 as he was due in the Autumn and we need Summer clothes all year round. It was nice because he became a little man before he was born. When we were expecting the third, the boys were old enough to understand so we found out again. This time a) how could we not? b) we need to because of the due date being in Nov.

littleoldme · 10/05/2007 06:54

Thanks for all being so lovely; it's a tonic having other people to talk to. But I guess you know that which is probably why it didn't take you lot 3 months to sign up like me!

RGPargy - I'm based in Leeds, what about you? Hope the scan goes well.

Sparkly - great news about your scan

Purplepants - hope your ds has recovered from his mishap. I told dh about it and thought I was going to have to reach for the smelling salts.

Anyone else having clothing issues? I'm too early for maternity stuff but most of my clothes are getting too tight thanks to my ever expanding breasts and the diet of starch I've been eating to ward off morning sickness. I don't really want to buy new stuff that's only going to last 5 mins.

Have a lovely day one and all - I'm off back to bed

purplepants · 10/05/2007 12:03

littleoldme - I'd buy new clothes if I were you - you'll get use out of them after LO is born even if you don't use them for long now (any excuse to shop, me )
I was up in Leeds the other week with DD (she's hoping to start Uni there in Sept). I think Choudru is from Leeds too - might be good to organise a meet up later on?
(- by the way it was apeainapod's DS who hurt himself - I'd have fainted I'm sure )

boys cheaper? their toys certainly get more expensive - if DH is anything to go by lol

RGPargy · 10/05/2007 12:12

Littleoldme - I'm in Kent, way dahhn sarrrf!

I know what you mean about eating loads of starch etc. I've been like that too. As an avid low-carber in my life before pg, eating bread, potatoes and pasta again is a serious no-no for me really but at this stage, i dont really care because it's helped me through the tough MS stage (i never got much thankfully, just the feeling of nausea when i thought about eating my normal low-carb stuff lol). The other great thing is that i've not put any weight on so i'm well chuffed about that one!!

SparklyGothKat · 10/05/2007 12:31

I wear a lot of leggings and floaty tops, lots of them in the shops atm. I did have to buy maternity jeans from next as I outgrew all my jeans when I was about 10 weeks

easywriter · 10/05/2007 12:45

SGK - Good to hear te scan went well and that your LO has already discovered that loafing is one of the finer things in life!!!

GermanGal - sorry to disagree with everyone else, girls are v. easily pleased they're happy to just wear a snow white dress all day, every day. (unfortunately without having the grace to say that this is what they're going to do before you've bought them an entire wardrobe!!) (G*d love 'er tho', it's always amusing when she's hiking in the Peaks with her hiking boots and said snow white dress!)

So, what about names? Is it wrong to name your child a name of a character from the only TV show that you watch and so everyone will know where you got it? (even if it's a fairly distinctive name?)

choudru · 10/05/2007 12:47

Littleoldme - yes I am based in Leeds. Only moved there in January from London so I don't really know the place yet.

Plus it didn't help that I got pregnant as soon as we moved up so since then I have spent most of my time in Manchester at my mum's.

So still got lots of exploring to do. How long have you lived there? Did we make a good decision to choose Leeds to move to?

Let's arrange a meet up once we are all feeling less sicky and tiredy.

Purplepants - if your DD comes up here then that sounds like a good excuse for you to come up and meet up with us too!

Just been watching Tony Blair's resignation speech with DS. He misbehaved all the way through but at least I'll be able to tell him he witnessed history in the making he he.

About maternity clothes - We're lucky because the shops are full of clothes very flattering to pregnant women. Like sparkley says - lots of floaty tops and leggings. Don't even have to buy maternity!

I will be treating myself to a couple of nice tops (have maternity jeans from DS pregnancy) because it's so important to feel a bit glam when otherwise you feel like a beached whale. New accessories are a good buy as well because you can use them after you get anywhere near your usual figure back.

And as purplepants said - you will be wearing maternity clothes for a while after LO arrives. Partly because you will still have a bit of a bump at first, partly because maternity clothes will feel so much more comfy and partly because you won't have a minute to think about buying 'normal' sized clothes for at least 3 months because you'll be so preoccupied with your bundle of joy.

littleoldme · 10/05/2007 13:41

Sorry i got the willy mishap victim wrong!
Choudru - you def did the right thing coming to Leeds. I've lived here for seven years and I love it. Which bit are are you in, I'm in Moortown. We should meet up and I'll show you the sights - well , the decent bars and eating establishments at the very least.

RG - I don't think I've ever been that far south. My favoured starchy product at the mo is Potato Waffles. After all they are waffley versatile. Can I also recommend plain spaghetti with Philidelphia and black pepper.

It seems the general consensus is buy new clobber. More shopping hurrah. The DH says I'm allowed one polkadot dress with a large bow at the neck. I told him I'll wear one if he will. He relented and went back to building the patio.

purplepants · 10/05/2007 13:48

pmsl at your DH. I had instant visions of a big muscly builder type in dainty frock

apeainapod · 10/05/2007 14:34

Afternoon all - it's mid May we should start dropping in about 5 1/2months! How fantastic is that!!

I am officially pregnant - just thought I'd share the fact that is has finally hit me - how exciting!

I think standing in the hustle and bustle of the fish market this morning in 38 degrees waiting to faint and throw up simultaneaoulsy that triggered my feelings.

Can I eat crab? - I can't remember.

Maternity clothes - of course you HAVE to buy new clothes, it's a crucial part of being pregnant - I thought anyway. I have just bought some jeans from www.blossom.co.uk - nice! Yes I shall be wearing them afterwards at the price! My tummy 'popped' at 6 weeks - thankfully even my Obstetrician said 'it's not fat, it's the baby'! I have actually lost 3lbs (on top of the 6lbs I have already put on) - only because we are back here and there aren't any nice treats to indulge in.

DS' willy is mending - we think, we shall find out on Saturday, they keep changing the date. He has become a bit of a legend here now.

Names, names, names - I think we need to start a suggestion!!

easywriter · 10/05/2007 15:36

Back here again? Where have you been pea?
Are blossom.co.uk good then?

easywriter · 10/05/2007 15:37

Also congrats on being officially up the duff

apeainapod · 10/05/2007 15:45

Easy - blossom - I love them!! I figure I have 9 months of having to be restrictive about what I eat, drink and do - I'm going to wear nice clothes!!!

About time I realised I was pg - only 14+1wks!!!

Ques: am I the pea that you're thinking of....?

RGPargy · 10/05/2007 15:47

littleoldme - my personal favourite is anything that involves chips.

I will deffo try spag with philly and black pepper - sounds interesting!

LMAO @ your DH wearing a polkadot dress with a bow.

The sad thing is, when i was pg with DS1 17 years ago, all i was allowed was literally one blue polkadot dress that i wore to work every effin' day. I was so glad to get rid of the damn thing. It went straight in the bin when i left work!!

New partner now tho, so i'm gonna deffo go shopping!! Yay!!!

SparklyGothKat · 10/05/2007 16:03

names? Well atm we like Eden for a boy and Leeanna for a girl, that might change later on, I really want to find out the sex at my 20 week scan but DH doesn't

choudru · 10/05/2007 16:12

You lot are such a bad influence - I feel like going out on a spending spree now!

Must try the philly and spaghetti thing - am in the mood for pasta thesedays.

I lived on sugar puffs for the first 10 weeks until I got sick of them. Currently I am scoffing Carrot and Walnut cake that I'm sure my mum had bought just in case of guests. Oops.

Littleoldme - don't tell me you're in Moortown - THAT'S WHERE I AM!!!!

What a freaky coincidence!

We are currently renting just off Street Lane. Decided to put off buying until we knew the area better and had researched schools etc.

Now I have a local guide

apeainapod - Congrats on being pregnant (and slightly nutty!). When you say we only have 5.5 months to go - it doesn't sound long at all.

littleoldme · 10/05/2007 16:18

Sparkly - my freind was in exactly the same situation. She found out and he left the room so he didn't know. Pretty big secret to keep though.

Rg - def try the spag and philly - it's a winner. I'm glad you've met someone who understands that one polka dot dress does not a maternity wardrobe make. i was just thinking that what what I wore when i was 16 would be perfect PG wear; black leggins, doc martins and oversize army surplus jumpers.

Right - I must go and get this coursework marked or I'll get sacked and then i won't be able to afford any dresses - spotty or otherwise

apeainapod · 10/05/2007 16:35

choudru - am I nutty? It is quite concerning that you say that actually! I was away for a month when a new family arrived and I was spoken about as "the skinny one with all the kids who's a fruit cake'!!!!!

Can I blame it on the hormones???

PLEASE can someone tell me if I can eat crab? We're having a crab fest tomorrow night - I might end up taking my own??

littleoldme · 10/05/2007 16:38

Choudru - that's excellent news. Small world eh? We def must meet up Have you investigated the fabulous charity shops of the Roundhay end of Street Lane yet - full of fantastic bargains. I look forward to familiarising you with the many delights of North Leeds.

Yay!!!

Now I must work

RGPargy · 11/05/2007 11:16

Morning everyone!

Feeling really really tired today (got up FOUR times last night for the loo) and so i'm feeling quite miserable and tearful too, as well as having a headache develop

Think it's coz i'm stressed about having the scan on Monday, maybe.

I'm thinking about chucking a sickie this afternoon.

How is everyone else?

Glimmer · 11/05/2007 14:44

RGPargy -- good luck for the scan.

Hello to everybody else.

Feeling not so sick any more (yeah) and eat lost of starch as well. Anything with potataoes will do. Ah and yes: Belgian Waffles with cream and cherries. And last but not least: fruit jelly beans and gum. Am getting defo bigger around my middle, but I think it's bith: baby and fat....

Godd luck to everybody who has a scan coming up!

apeainapod · 11/05/2007 16:20

It's 3.15pm - can I go to bed yet??

DD is not very ell with a nasty cough - and general terrible two symptoms - and is therefore awake every hour on the hour. Because we missed DH's birthday celebrations - due to DS2 and his willy escapade - we are doing it tonight instead. Sooooo tired.

The squidge is still squidging around a lot - I still cannot think about her as a girl, not until we have another scan - just to make sure. With DS2 they said DEFINITELY, no doubt about it - we were expecting a girl. Two days later in London - we could all see he was without doubt a boy!

Rg - hope you feel better soon.

littleoldme · 11/05/2007 16:58

RG Hope the scan is well. Pulling a sickie is def a top plan. I always find that when you ring in sick it's a good idea to mention discharge at some point; no one asks too many questions after that.

Glimmer - I'm noticing a certain tightness about the midriff as well. i went for my first midwife appt today and she thinks I'm 13 weeks rather than 11+2 . She put the sonicaid on me and the heart beat was booming - anyway glad to know the waistline is baby and not just potato waffles.

apeainapod - have top night out - sounds like you could use it.

A little story to cheer up any one who needs it. One of my colleagues was setting up some sort of pondlife tank in his lab ( I'm a teacherby the way.) He was explaining to his Year 7 group that on Monday he wuld would be bringing some tadpoles in. One of the kids put his hand up and helpfully asked, " Sir , Sir - can i help you plant them?"

Have a top weekend ladies

purplepants · 12/05/2007 09:26

morning all

RGPargy - must be catching, I felt a right misery yesterday too and so crotchety!! I found myself getting really wound up when a friend said "well I reckon you're having a girl this time.." no idea why!!
How are you feeling today?

I was saying to DH last night about how I don't even feel pg at the mo, just fat. This morning however - lo and behold - I felt some definate wriggles yay!!! at last!!

apeainapod - hope you managed to stay awake for your DH's celebrations how'd it go?

littleoldme · 12/05/2007 09:59

purplepants - Hope you feel more cheery soon.
