hellsbellsk did you get set up on the Facebook group? I remember your asked a little while back in the thread.

Lules · 10/02/2017 17:52

Hi all. I'm still feeling very sick. Had to run out of a meeting with a student to be sick today. No idea what she thought of me! Sorry to all those who are really nauseous. I'm exhausted as well. I think it might be the cyclizine but I don't remember it making me this tired last time. Is anyone else taking it?

snoodles · 10/02/2017 17:54

My Booking Appointment took about 40 mins, the MW basically went through so much information and then put that into a folder which I need to bring with me at all appointments. I don't think the MW will check for a heartbeat as there's no scan at the booking appointment. I also went for some blood tests after my scan, so they might do that also.

RachaelCatWhisperer · 10/02/2017 17:55

Seriously, what is it with ice cream? Mostly I've been craving whole meal toast and marmite, oranges, pears, tomatoes, then occasionally I get the urge for ice cream, totally in controllable, and will woof the whole tub if not stopped.

Why? I don't even especially like ice cream! In fact, before I was pregnant I hadn't eaten sugar for 3 years! Is anyone else having this?

MrsK8541 · 10/02/2017 18:15

Lules Sorry that you're also sick enough to need meds. I'm the same but prescribed promethazine (phenergan). Not sure it's really helping though! I've had cyclizine before and it's definitely good at knocking you out! It used to make me feel quite dizzy though which I didn't like.

I'm due to go back to work on Monday after being signed off and I'm absolutely dreading it. What do you ladies do to cope with morning sickness at work? I'm a teacher so not sat behind a desk or anything 😔

RachaelCatWhisperer · 10/02/2017 18:18

mrsK I'm a teacher and it's been a flipping nightmare. Thankfully I haven't actually been sick but feeling horrendously sick all the time and of course can't just go get a drink / biscuit when you fancy. Oh and eating lunch in 5 mins does wonders for heartburn!

MrsK8541 · 10/02/2017 18:21

Rachael Hello fellow teacher! What ages do you teach? I'm really worried about the not being able to just leave the classroom to eat/drink. I teach year 9,10 and 11 so the kids could fend for themselves for 5 minutes if they really had too ...

Lules · 10/02/2017 18:24

mrsk Mainly I put all my effort into making my face look like I'm paying attention to what my students are saying rather than actually concentrating! I teach university students though so a bit different. I do find I actually feel less sick when I'm teaching - I think it's the adrenaline.

puttingourhoodupdown · 10/02/2017 18:51

Evening all, had my early scan today and there was one lovely little bean with a wonderful heartbeat. I thought I was 8+1 but they've dated me at 7+6 so not much out! Due date is now 23 September ( the day before my dads wedding!!!)

Was so lovely to see everything is ok! Now the countdown until my nhs scan on 2 March. I can't help but count down the pregnancy, I'm just so anxious and will remain so until I'm holding my healthy baby!

Amz26 · 10/02/2017 19:17

Thanks ladies for the heads up! I'm lucky OH is coming too as it's the weekend 😊

Sorry to everyone who's feeling rubbish, try and get some extra rest on the weekend x

So pleased your scan went well! Feels like so long ago I had mine and I'm back to worrying 🤔 I know it's bad to wish our pregnancy away but it's so hard not to!!!

sherbertlemon17 · 10/02/2017 19:27

Great news on the scans tot and putting!

Hi MrsK and Racheal, teacher here too Smile I teach secondary too and teach a subject that I can't leave the lessons. I've found sucking boiled sweets helps the nausea. When I feel a bit heavy, I stick my head in the store cupboard, or if really bad I have asked the teacher in the same space to watch the kids because I really needed a wee Hmm

Fluffywallow · 10/02/2017 19:28

You ladies who are working through the sickness are incredible - I've not managed a full day in weeks and every time I think I might be able to the sickness comes and knocks me off my feet again. Fortunately work are great and my team knows but it doesn't stop me feeling a bit of a failure.

Lovely to hear positive scan news, 2 weeks to go until mine - like you amz my early scan is a distant memory now so I'm back to worrying!!

Currently sat in a not hot enough bath which is at least soothing the bloat a bit.

Herewegoagain31 · 10/02/2017 19:32

Argh I just found out today that when I thought I'd sent off my self referral form online I actually forgot to click the final button on the screen so it never sent. I only realised when I called up today to find out why I hadn't heard anything. So I had to submit it again but I'm already 11+3. Does anyone know if me not having the booking in blood tests until potentially 14/15 weeks instead of 10 is bad? I couldn't speak to a midwife today just a receptionist. I had a scan at 9 weeks and thankfully all was ok so I'm not so worried about a late scan but I am about the bloods!

MrsK8541 · 10/02/2017 19:32

Hi sherbert! Your username has got me wanting sherbert lemon sweets! I think I will buy myself a big bag of boiled sweets ready for Monday. One of our food tech teachers just started their mat leave and managed the whole sickness thing at school, even with the smells of kids cooking. She is my hero Blush

Katurah · 10/02/2017 19:43

I'm a teacher too! I teach secondary and I suspect some of them are on to me already! Especially my 6th formers.

I'm still struggling with sickness but mostly feeling bloated and full yet hungry. Can't wait for scan! Booked in on Wednesday so should get a letter early next week!

10 weeks

Tilly2017 · 10/02/2017 19:46

Wow I'm surprised how many people on the thread are teachers..... Lots of schools are going to be looking for maternity cover for Sept. I'm also a lecturer at an FE college working with children with disabilities.

TotTickle · 10/02/2017 19:51

Hello fellow teachers - I am too. I work part time but teach yr10, 11 and sixth formers. Love my job. Thankfully I am feeling okay - can't imagine trying to pretend to be on form. Well done xx

HellsBellsK · 10/02/2017 19:53

I did Calimommy Smile

sherbertlemon17 · 10/02/2017 19:56

There are soooo many teachers! It's good though, nice to know there are others on here who understand the classroom stress + pregnancy hormones. We are due ofsted any day now too! They are in the area, which isn't helping!

MrsK that Food teacher must have a stomach of steel! I got a waft of curries and frying from the food rooms the other day Envy

MrsK8541 · 10/02/2017 20:24

sherbert We are due ofsted imminently too, was hoping they'd come while I was signed off!

Very nice to be in touch with other teachers going through the struggles! Anyone planning on going back for any time in September? Getting a bit ahead of myself thinking about maternity leave!

Kskifred · 10/02/2017 20:39

I've had a bad tooth a while and put off going to a dentist (hate them) but this week i've been in.absolute agony, using orajel constantly and it's spread all down my jaw and up to my nose, frigging kills! Got to get an emergency app tomo, scared myself googling and read that if infected can be dangerous for baby Confused not sure what they can do as they are limited with dentistry on preg? I just want the pain gone I don't even care how at the moment, as long as baby safe obv.

Bit off topic but I'm feeling right sorry for myself this week! I need to eat constantly still due to MS but just agonises mouth...wahh.

Fluffywallow · 10/02/2017 20:53

Ouch ksk there's nothing quite as awful as tooth ache! Hope they can sort it for you. I had a filling when I was about 5 weeks and the dentist just used a slightly different anaesthetic.

RachaelCatWhisperer · 10/02/2017 20:54

My problem in terms of smells is the kids! One or two seriously stinky ones in my class and I can't go near them for the miasma wafting over me.

I'm due 31/8 but I think my scan will show that is too early. My money is on about 10th sept, in which case no I will start maternity leave on 1/9 I reckon.

Amz26 · 10/02/2017 21:10

Fluffywallow I know it's awful! Just wish I could enjoy it and relax but I can't seem to get it out of my head ATM.. I'm going to talk to the MW about it tomorrow 😬

Hope you feel better KsK tooth ache is horrible x

turtletum · 10/02/2017 22:23

I'm a teacher too! Secondary but so far I think I'm managing to keep it under wraps. This is my first week with nausea but seems to be very low key compared to what many of you have. My school is in inspection fever too, thinking it might be next week. I've got such baby brain too atm, keep forgetting important details.
