Coldfeet My skin and hair have both completely changed. What's normally oily skin is super dry and my normally good hair is greasy after one day! It's driving me up the wall 😩

Curious to see if anyone else has had flu-like symptoms? Since my BFP I've had a runny nose in the morning and evenings every day- it's been wiping me out. Midwife told me at booking appt it's just a virus but that was 5 weeks ago and still no change? It's making waking up in the mornings and sleeping really difficult 😔

MrsK8541 · 19/02/2017 09:40

charli I also wake up every morning feeling like I'm full of cold only for it to clear by about midday and then return before bed! I'm sure I've read it's quite a normal symptom of pregnancy!

Travelgeek · 19/02/2017 09:50

My skin's no more sensitive than usual, yet. Pleased I did my 'tache removal a week or so ago in case it does get that way though! It is quite dry usually though, so must start moisturising the growing parts of my body more regularly really.

I do however have spots all over my back :( proper teenage zits. Thinking of having all my long hair chopped into a bob in case that helps, but I suspect it is hormonal as I had long hair before without a problem. Anyone else become spotty? Got a couple on my face too, but nowhere near as bad as my back thankfully.

Kskifred · 19/02/2017 09:51

Yes i'm currently feeling like death with flu like symptoms. I forgot how hard pregnancy is on me, feeling really down at mo.

Think i might need an iron boost so I am waiting for booking in so can have tests done. If it continues to take ages i'll have to see GP.

MrsK8541 · 19/02/2017 10:30

travel I'm normally quite spotty but pregnancy seems to have removed them all for me! Shame I can't just be pregnant forever and have lovely skin! It's so crazy how hormones can affect us all so differently!

Amz26 · 19/02/2017 11:29

spring I'm sure you'll be find as they defo would get it touch sooner! The test are done early so they can sort out any issue you have...They wouldn't leave you this long if any bloods had come back positive.. so no news is good new 😊😊

Nice to have some positive symptoms mrsK!

sherbertlemon17 · 19/02/2017 12:23

Yes to the cold and flu! I've been full of the snots and an awful cough for weeks and weeks. Hoping the second trimester sees an end to it. Still have ages mind... 9+2 today. Anyone found anything that's safe to take?

newbie87 · 19/02/2017 12:51

Travelgeek yep i've had a few spots on my back and shoulders... no way i'm chopping my hair off tho!! Have been putting it up in a high pony at night and really rinsing well after washing my hair, seems to be helping x

OkyDoke · 19/02/2017 12:57

Ive had a runny nose since bfp too! And spotty shoulders! A period of my face being spotty too but that seems to have died down now.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 19/02/2017 13:24

Travelgeek my skin is awful. Has been since I conceived pretty much! It was the same the whole way through with my DS so I don't hold out much hope of it getting better. I do not have a healthy pregnant glow!

Fluffywallow · 19/02/2017 15:38

Does anyone use a pregnancy pillow? Last time I just used a regular pillow but wondering if it's worth getting a proper one this time...finding it a bit uncomfortable sleeping now.

Travelgeek · 19/02/2017 16:21

Oh dear ruth, I was hoping it would improve as my other symptoms settle down a bit but maybe they are here to stay!
I just can't sleep with my hair tied up, newbie, I don't know how you do it. Yes, should do an extra rinse too. Been thinking about chopping all my hair off anyway, just need to find a new hairdresser as mine has moved away and I'm putting off trying someone new.

I'd be interested to hear about any successes with pregancy pillows too as I have tried using a regular pillow but feel like it takes up so much space in the bed! It does help me get comfy though. I'm also kinda reluctant to spend money on something I'll only use for a short while but I think I need to get used to that idea for all the baby things that'll be outgrown quickly too!

Lules · 19/02/2017 16:27

I bought a pregnancy pillow last time. Used it once and chucked it in the bin it annoyed me so much.

Fluffywallow · 19/02/2017 16:30

That's my concern Lules - they look massive and I kind of liked that my regular pillow moulded to my bump...but I'm still tempted!

Lules · 19/02/2017 16:34

I guess some people must like them as they sell, but I wasn't one of them!

Impala1980 · 19/02/2017 16:42

I used a u shaped pregnancy pillow last time and found it really helped support my bump in the last trimester.. then used it on my lap ass feeding pillow for best part of a year... also makes a comfy little nest to prop new born up when they want to look round but can't support their own necks!

Impala1980 · 19/02/2017 16:43

as not ass!

OkyDoke · 19/02/2017 16:44

Ive got a v shaped pillow from aldi in their baby event for about £6. Its helping stop my back ache so much at the moment and ill hopefully use it between legs to support bump later on. It is big but its been a big help so far!

Travelgeek · 19/02/2017 16:55

Ooh I like the sound of that impala I was getting carried away earlier and starting a list (love a good list) of all the things I think we will need for baby and debated adding a pillow for when feeding. Multi-purpose items are good!

newbie87 · 19/02/2017 16:55

I've just got the aldi v shaped pillow too... i tend to start off the night with it but must throw it out of the bed sometime during the night Grin its very comfy as i go to sleep though, although it is quite large!!

Fluffywallow · 19/02/2017 17:13

Ooo a trip to Aldi on the cards then - at least it doesn't matter too much if you don't get on with it at that price!

OkyDoke · 19/02/2017 17:50

Fluffy, that was my thinking too! Even if you dont get on with it for night, might come in useful for breast feeding (if you want and are able of course!) and maybe a prop when baby starts to sit up.

OkyDoke · 19/02/2017 17:51

Just realised i entirely repeated what impala said haha!
