raspberry snap with the calf cramp! It's excruciating at the time isn't it and bewildering as you're half asleep! First time it happened poor DH briefly thought I'd gone into labour Blush as I couldn't articulate what was wrong for a few seconds.

Autumnsweater · 22/02/2017 06:32

mighty that sounds horrible, are they sending you for a abdominal ultrasound scan? Seems a safe way to check what's going on in there (can see kidney stones on a scan as well etc).

peasandquiet · 22/02/2017 06:55

I hated those calf pains last time, calf was tender for a few days after too so be prepared to feel it for a few days.
Early awakening by the toddler this morning for us. He's currently trying to force me out of bed!!

mightymouse76 · 22/02/2017 06:55

Thanks autumn, no they haven't but if I get any more attacks today I'm going in and asking for one. Thanks for the tip- much appreciated.

Re cramp, I've learnt a) if lucid enough, not to point my toes when stretching (seems to bring it on?!), and b) I try to yell 'calf, calf!!!' to avoid the ensuing panic in a half asleep DP! Never seen him on his feet so quickly first time I just yelled 'owwww!' : )

RasperryInAMelon · 22/02/2017 07:18

Autumn and Mighty good tips! DH was in panic when I woke him loudly groaning / screaming out bless him. His first words were 'it's too early!'

I thought he meant in the morning, turns out he meant in the pregnancy! Bless him!

"overdue" is 42 weeks (end rant). Re flying, all down to the airline. Air France have no requirement, another i flew recently wanted a fit to fly after 32 weeks or something, but I'm not sure how they enforce it as you could just say you were under 32 weeks! Also wanted a certificate if there were 'complications' or twins - again, how would they know??

RedBlu · 22/02/2017 07:58

I hadn't calf cramp last night, more than one and in both legs.

I can barely walk today!!

vanilla8 · 22/02/2017 09:08

Morning all, so much to catch up on.
I've had a terrible night - bad pain in right shoulder blade and in my rib under right breast, could be gallstones according to my frantic google searching?
Don't think it's a baby's position as I can feel all kicks and movement very low.

Going to ring the GP and see if I can get an appointment

Brightsmoke · 22/02/2017 09:20

Mighty, I had Similar earlier on, which I tried to describe in a previous thread. It is scary!! For me, it was a case of resting and taking painkillers until it went. I also purchased a support belt which has REALLY helped. I had a week signed off work to properly relax. I still get pain, but it isn't as bad now. Initially, I physically couldn't move or breathe properly, it took me 40 minutes to get dressed and downstairs to the car! It was shooting pains up my right hand side from hip to top of ribs. If you are at all concerned, go back into the mat unit and speak to them about it/get reassessed. Hope your feeling better soon Flowers

For those of us due on the 3rd, today marks 30 weeks, which means in a maximum of 12 weeks, we will have babies, that sounds terrifying!! I feel so under prepared, even though we physically have everything a baby could possibly need.

Off to the mothercare expectant parent event tonight, mainly to talk to my local sling library for advice.

mightymouse76 · 22/02/2017 09:21

Vanilla good luck, I sympathise. I think Gall stones can often be accompanied by nausea - how are you feeling in that regard? That was my mum's experience of them anyway- she would feel sick after eating rich food. Hope you get seen quickly.

Not sure when the flying conversation kicked in but I went with BA about 3 weeks ago, and they require a GP letter from 28 weeks. I was 24 weeks at the time but looked bigger, and they were really on my case at the desks from check in to gate. I think they thought I was fibbing!

vanilla8 · 22/02/2017 09:35

Well just got an appointment for Friday at GP, have to have my bloods done this week anyway in preparation for my anti D next week so that should pick up anything else?

Thankfully off work today due to tube strike.
Mighty The pain has subsided a little now but I have been nauseaus last couple of days and the burps have returned. I am on Omeprazole so just wondering if it's all related, as was throwing up lots of bile looking liquid up to 18 weeks.

At first I thought I may have twinged my back muscle from the painting on he weekend but the pain overnight was really bad, got DH to bring me a hot water bottle which helped me get back to sleep

MissMooMoo · 22/02/2017 09:44

Taken a while to catch up!
mighty I hope they can figure out whats going on. I also get a few braxton hicks here and there, usually on my walk home from pilates on a sat morning, I am 28 weeks now and I think its quite normal to have them at this stage.

Also getting the dreaded leg cramps! I try and stand up when I get one as it helps it to go away.

Dh and I are off to the theatre tonight, a xmas pressie from him, really looking forward to it although dreading the tube strike. I was hoping to get the central line from Stratford but not sure it will be running tonight at 7, may have to plan an alternative journey just incase.

I am flying with ryanair at 32 weeks. Mentioned it to my midwife and she said it was fine and to get my GP to sign my certificate. A bit annoying as I know the GP will charge me and also she sent me to see the GP when I had thrush and the GP was a bit bemused as to why the midwife didn't just perscribe something.

mightymouse76 · 22/02/2017 09:47

Bright, that sounds so similar!! It's excruciating when it hits, totally immobilising for a while, then sore for ages after, and sends pain into my bump that side. Thanks for sharing. It definitely seems to be aggravated by activity too. I just leant into the bath to try and clean it, and bingo- it's back.
I think a support belt is a great idea. Also going to get my hospital bag together just in case... I hope it stays away for you!

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 09:48

Hiya all - catching up on you chatty ladies whilst I sit in Guys waiting for my GTT. Not looking forward to it ;(. Compounded by late night (Divine Comedy gig in town - amazing, but home at gone midnight and up at 6am for appt!) and little sleep.

Busy day today as have a scan at 2pm followed by my obs appointment at 2.20pm, then MW at 4pm. What a day and what a way to mark 28wks Smile.

Wish - wowzers!! Heels went around week 10 when the fatigue kicked in so props to you!

Tickyboo - that's rubbish (on your buyer pulling out) but as someone earlier said, stuff happens for a reason and at least you don't have a massive hole in your garden ;)

TeainB - late stillbirth/ early induction was one of the first things my obs mentioned to me as a consideration/ risk on first meeting her at wk12. Bit scary, but would rather know that I could be planning to 38wks rather than 40wks early doors.

MrsJW - sensible to have papers ready in case they ask/ refuse your flight without!!

Cinnamon- sympathies on the dizziness. Sounds awful.

Wish - super jealous of your Rome weekend! We've talked about getting away somewhere close-OH's for a babymoon but tbh I've been so sick and nauseous it feels like it might be a bit of a waste Hmm.

Mighty - sending hugs and do hope you can get some help soon. Sounds awful.

Dream - sorry to be blunt, but your manager sounds like a hypocritical cow and you're doing exactly the right thing IMO by playing a straight bat and saying you'll form a view on using your a/l once you've got your DC. Good luck!

Bright - we call our little bump baby Bic (after Bic Runga - lovely singer songwriter from NZ who's little ;). Started as a bit of a code before we'd told folk so OH could ask "how's Bic" without giving anything away Wink. And well done on finishing your DIY!! We've got loads to do. Just finished decorating the living room and the nursery room colours should work despite change of use (was a spare bedroom). But got new furniture, shed, windows, and shutter blinds being delivered / installed over next 4 wks. All the essentials, obv!

Jugo- your preggers massage sounds lush! Thinking about trying to get one later today if not too stressed out after all my appointments.

And belated welcome to Sal.

Phew! Sorry for mammoth post and hi waves to anyone I've not mentioned.

1004Rise · 22/02/2017 09:49

Ooo red sounds painful! Wonder if that's linked to all your standing up yesterday?

Good tips on shouting calf to not panic DH.... I tend to "scream" silently and make weird faces so I haven't woken him up in a panic yet!

Good news, DH has a new job.... this means we can move south of the mountains and back to civilisation Grin However we still have to sell the house and buy a new one, preferably before the 17th of May Hmm We thought we'd do all the most stressful things at once and get them out the way Wink I'm lucky that I can take my job anywhere with a wifi connection. DH frantically now trying to finish the trim things that we haven't quite finished in the house so we can get estate agents out next week. Never sold a house before so yet another adventure!! Shock

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 09:53

Rise - huge congrats on hubby's job and good luck with the house!

MissMoo - enjoy the theatre. What are you going to see?

peasandquiet · 22/02/2017 10:01

Busy morning on here, new job is great rise, so happy that it's all falling into place for you.
Has anyone has any episodes of recurring headaches? I don't usually suffer but have been having them last few days, I'm drinking loads and my BP is fine (have a monitor but I'm not obsessive I promise)
Have next check up next week so I'll bring it up then if still ongoing.
Teaspoon your getting shutters 😊 Me too, tho they won't be done till may, I gave the guy the 24th may as his deadline 😂 I'm really looking forward to a bit of privacy in my living room, really want to BF and not in view of the whole street!
I'm getting on the preg massage bandwagon, booked for Saturday, super excited.

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 10:08

Peas- I'm not not looking forward to the shutters (getting tier on tier so can get more light with top open but privacy via bottom), but new windows and shutters and shed were the top things on OHs list when we found out about Bic. My priorities were a bit more mundane; sort out room / bed to sleep in, clear out some of the crap bits & bobs in spare room, get a pram/ car seat Grin

Have to admit that they'll add to the room, tho.... when they arrive.

peasandquiet · 22/02/2017 10:23

Teaspoon I'm sure you'll love them, we are getting cafe as the house is built into a slope and we'd lose too much light with the full ones. You will have best of both worlds! What is it with men and sheds? I love a good clear out, even more so when preggers, it's therapeutic, also once the baby is here there is no time for that sort of stuff as your just so consumed my it all.

MrsJW15 · 22/02/2017 10:24

Bright let us know how it goes, we are meant to be going tomorrow. I assume you can go at any point during the evening, you don't need to be there at the very start?

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 10:37

Just had to share that my gifted mat pillow has been nabbed by my boys (cats)... doesn't look like I'm getting it back any time soon Confused

EsmesBees · 22/02/2017 10:46

Haha tea mine have comenderred my nursing chair. So much so that DD now refers to it as the cat's chair!

RedBlu · 22/02/2017 10:47

Can anyone tell me how many blood tests are required with the GTT? As in how many times a sodding needle will be going in my arm?

According to instructions it's one before, then lucozade, then another one after an hour then ANOTHER one an hour later so that is THREE blood tests?!

Plus my midwife said they will take some to retest some I had at my booking appointment?

I am terrified of needles this isn't good

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 11:18

Red am still getting my GTT done now! On basis of what they do here at Guys it's fast for 10hrs (mine was 10pm-8.30am) then one blood test, 3 cups of lukozade, wait 2h, then one more blood test. You can then eat something in the half hour they test the second blood sample. Results same day.

I absolutely hate and am scared shitless by needles, but hasn't been too bad so far. Nurses are lovely.

Esmes - main reason we're not going to co-sleep/ get a Snuzpod is it would become a cat bed Grin

Teaspoon74 · 22/02/2017 11:39

Woo and hoo! Results are in from my GTT - good figure before (5.4 - lower than the 5.6 figure they look for) and after the lucozde and wait it went down to 4.1 - when the concern marker is 7.1. Which means they're happy gestational diabetes isn't a concern at this point. Hurrah! Was worried due to BMI and Dad being Type 2, so feeling really buoyed up by this!
